On the Magic Knight Path Onward
"No way, is that really your own Grimoire!" One man asked.
"I can't believe you got one before the rest of us, that's so unfair yet totally cool at the same time!" One boy with half brown and half red hair color grunted.
"To think, the little boy of our own town would suddenly become someone a big boy. Now I'm jealous that I don't have kids of my own." The red hair woman smirked.
"Tell me, how does it feel to posses a grimoire a year earlier before becoming 15?" One man with glasses asked curiously with his book out and feather pen.
"You're the coolest, Laphicet!" One little girl complimented.
Laphicet is overwhelmed with how the people are gathering around and close to him when he showed everyone his very own grimoire and starts to feel a little timid of getting this much attention from this.
After dealing with the thief and turning him in to the authorities as he was being taken away, Laphicet showed them his grimoire and even explained about how it just reveal itself to him in the moment the thief had him pain down. As expected, everyone was very surprised and proud at the same time.
"Okay everyone, that's enough." Grimorih said getting between the crowd and Laphicet.
"I'm sure this is surprising to all of us, but let's not try to make the boy feel overwhelmed than he already is." Grimorih pointed out.
"I got my own grimoire!" Laphicet smiled.
"But we are grateful for him to have stop the thief from taking the grimoires while somehow making your own miracle happen. I couldn't be more proud of you." Grimorih smiled at her adopted son.
"Oh, teacher." Laphicet smiled of the praise.
"So Laphicet, what do you plan on doing now that you got your grimoire?" The glasses man asked.
"That's a good question, I'm not sure myself." Laphicet said. He thought about needing more time to think for one more year, but that plan seem to be thrown out the window.
"You should go become a Magic Knight!" The little girl suggested.
"That's a great idea! You could stop more thieves and protect people like heroes!" One boy with a missing tooth believed.
"You could even go to far away places for jobs and stuff!" Another boy added.
"You really think I can become a Magic Knight? Would they even allow that?" Laphicet asked.
"I say you should go for it, you'll never know what amazing things you could discover." The red hair woman smirked.
"Hmm, become a Magic Knight." Laphicet looked at his silver grimoire and the five-leaf clover on the cover.
(The Next Day)
Laphicet is seen in the backyard as he wants to practice on mastering his own silver flame magic and wanting to know more about his grimoire such as the five-leaf clover, he looks several pages seeing spells and such while the rest are blank.
"Wow, didn't think I would start off with a small number of spells, but I supposed it's a good start in order for one to grow stronger." Laphicet commented.
Laphicet then spotted one page containing an interesting spell along with another one.
"Hmm, this looks like a good start." Laphicet decided to try that spell first.
Laphicet look at the long wooden log that he got from the outhouse where they keep the firewood and other stuff inside, he took a deep breath as he move his hands together to concentrate his magic between them.
"(Focus, feel the magic within your body like you always have but feel that difference in power like how you stop the thief.)" Laphicet thought focused.
Then a small silver fireball appears at his hand with his eyes open to the wooden long.
"Silver Flame Magic: Binding Order!" Laphicet moved his arms toward the log with the silver fire wrapping around in two flaming chains trapping the log.
"Take this!" Laphicet unleashed a silver fire beam at the log destroying most of it leaving only a small pair of pieces.
"Wow, that was stronger than I wanted it to be. I better be careful about the amount of power I use." Laphicet told himself.
"Yes, because having overwhelming power can lead to one's own destruction if the power isn't uncontrolled properly." Grimoirh stated floating to him.
"Hey teacher, I was just doing a bit of training for master my new magic." Laphicet greeted.
"I can see that, and the fire you unleash sure is something else. I've seen fire magic a lot back in my adventuring days, but never have I come across one using silver flames before." Grimoirh said.
"Yeah, I read in a lot of books about fire magic though there was never a mention of fires being in different colors." Laphicet agreed making the silver fire appear on his finger.
"It makes you wonder what else you can do with that kind of magic." Grimoirh said curious.
"Actually, I did find a spell that I wanted to try. A healing spell!" Laphicet mentioned.
"A healing spell? That's something you don't hear every day, especially from fire magic rarely ever has a healing ability." Grimoirh surprised to hear this.
"Yeah, I was just about to try it after testing out my attack spell." Laphicet nodded and took out a little knife.
"But sure, it's not too fatal, we don't know if your magic can heal you completely." Grimoirh advised.
"Got it." Laphicet understood that and begins his test.
Laphicet held the knife onto the palm of his hand and made a cut that hurts though he tries to not screaming from the pain, he didn't want to look weak in front of his teacher and adopted mom to try out his new spell.
"Okay, now for the test." Laphicet said with his grimoire floating next to him showing the page for the healing spell.
"Fire Healing Magic: Purifying Soul." Laphicet casted the spell holding one hand to his cut right one and the silver flame coated that cut hand.
Then in just a few short seconds, the cut started to heal completely almost like the cut from the knife he came himself never happened and the fire dissipates, this surprises Grimoirh to see that his flame is actually healing the wound and then she looks back at the see the two pieces of the log as nothing else was burning with them.
"How interesting, it would seem your silver flame doesn't burn everything else in contact. Only to the ones you want to burn." Grimoirh stated.
"Now that I think about it, when you defeated that thief yesterday at the grimoire tower, your flames didn't burn everything else at all and only hurt the thief." Grimoirh recalled that moment.
"Yeah, I've been wondering about that too." Laphicet revealed this.
"Normally, when a fire magic user unleashes his fire attack it would burn mostly everything around the intended target, but my fire seems to be entirely different than ordinary flames like it's responding to my inner feelings of not hurting anyone or anything else." Laphicet believed.
"I suppose that the only explanation we can think of, and there is also something else about your grimoire that I can't put my finger on it." Grimoirh said.
"Like what?" Laphicet asked.
"The clover." Grimoirh pointed at the five-leaf clover symbol.
"Laphicet, tell me what the meanings of a three-leaf clover and a four-leaf clover." Grimoirh ordered.
"Yes, teacher. The three-leaf clover contain three things for those who have it, integrity, hope, and love. The four-leaf clover means good luck for those who have been blessed with this symbol and the four-leaf is the rare one for those with powerful mana." Laphicet explained about the clover leaves.
"Correct, now what do you remember about the five-leaf clover?" Grimoirh asked.
"Hmm, I remember you mentioning the five-leaf clover is more super rare than the four-leaf clover like the actual leaves and the meaning of that is…" Laphicet paused for a moment and his eyes widen of shock.
"So, what does it mean?" Grimoirh asked again seeing the face on the boy.
"There lives the devil… The Devils luck!" Laphicet gasped softly.
"That is correct." Grimoirh nodded.
"Oh man, I had no idea I would get such a dangerous grimoire. I guess it must've been what I was thinking back when I was helpless against the thief, that I would become the devil to protect if God wouldn't help." Laphicet started to remember those feelings.
"Such is another mystery of the grimoire, and there is another thing you should know." Grimoirh said as Laphicet listen closely to her.
"I actually found that grimoire long before I adopted you, and there was no owner around at all." Grimoirh revealed.
"Are you for real? But that's impossible, a grimoire is link to the user's life and they disintegrate when one dies!" Laphicet gasped shock.
"That's normally the case, but this kind of grimoire seems to be the exception of the rule. You see, I found that inside a chest deep in the forest out of town." Grimoirh explained.
(Flashback)
Grimoirh is walking through the forest with the sunlight barely through the branches and leaves thinking it's a perfect day to relax and just lazy around.
"Now, let see if I can find the perfect spot for a nap." Grimoirh looked around the area.
But then she spotted something a few dozen feet that appeared to be a wooden chest which is a bit strange to her like someone just left it there. So, she decided to go see what that chest contains that might pique her interest.
Grimoirh use her grimoire to float a little higher and opening the chest only to become shocked upon discovering the silver book inside along with a very tattered red robe.
"A grimoire? Why would this be here, and who could've leave this behind?" Grimoirh confused as she looked closely at the book.
"That's… a five-leaf clover!" Grimoirh shocked.
"When I saw the grimoire, I knew that book had to be something different than the normal grimoires like mine and others I've seen." Grimoirh said.
Grimoirh picked up the silver grimoire and the robe thinking about what to do next until she came to the decision of bringing the book back to her home town.
The scene changes to Grimoirh placing the five-leaf clover silver grimoire in the shelves with the other grimoire books thinking that she would like to meet the boy or girl who would claim this book someday.
(Flashback End)
"And that was about it, I took the book back here and the rest as they say is history." Grimoirh finished her story.
"Wow! You'd think you already know so much until you suddenly found something new." Laphicet amazed.
"Yep, and now it all comes down to you and that grimoire that has chosen you to be the owner." Grimoirh pointed at the grimoire.
Laphicet looks down at his grimoire believing the five-leaf clover could have more meaning than just what most would already know, there could be secrets that no one know just yet and there might be something else that could reveal the dark secrets of the past like how a five-leaf clover was even possible.
"(Could it even be possible to know this if I join the Magic Knights?)" Laphicet thought about the Magic Knights, then a thought came to them.
"Hey teacher, you mentioned about also finding a robe in that chest, right?" Laphicet asked.
"Yes, it was tattered and damage almost like a battle happened." Grimoirh nodded.
"Was it from a Magic Knight?" Laphicet asked another question.
"I believe so, and from the color of the robe, I can only guess that the fella must've been from the Crimson Lion squad. One of the nine Magic Knight squads." Grimoirh stated.
This also brought some thoughts into Laphicet's mind about this grimoire must've belonged to a Magic Knight long ago before he was founded by Grimoirh, this could mean something must've happened to that Magic Knight before that time and among other things that could be important to know.
And this also brought up the idea that trying to solve such mysteries could be a big adventure for the boy, something that he has been longing for and now there was the opportunity to take it.
"Teacher, I believe I have made my decision." Laphicet said.
"Oh, have you now?" Grimoirh asked with a slight grin.
"Yes, considering what we just learned and the kind of power I have. I believe I can only discover this and more by joining the Magic Knights and use this power for good." Laphicet revealed his decision.
"And what about becoming an archaeologist?" Grimoirh asked.
"Maybe I still do, but who's to say I can't try doing two things at once. It's like what you taught me before, you have to be the master of your own life like sailing the ship of your wheel of life charted of your own path." Laphicet stated smiling.
"I didn't think you would remember that." Grimoirh chuckled.
"I actually got those words from a pirate I knew years ago, I never thought about using them because the man was an idiot for his love of adventures." Grimoirh smiled of remembering that man.
"Well, if you're really serious about becoming a Magic Knight then you will need to do some training in both spirit and body for your magic for it could only get you so far if you don't have the willpower to grow yourself." Grimoirh advised.
"Right, I'll train hard and study hard as much as I can for the exam." Laphicet nodded.
"Only… I don't know when the Magic Knight exam is going to be held aside from it's going to be in the capital." Laphicet admitted hanging his head in defeat.
"Lucky for you, I always keep track down the next Magic Knight exam is about five months from now." Grimoirh informed.
"Then I better get to training and hope for the best." Laphicet nodded as he ran into the storehouse to get another log.
"(Laphicet, it would seem you're growing up a little faster than I realize, but it's good to see you've finally decided a path for yourself.)" Grimoirh thought smiled proudly.
For the next five months, Laphicet has been doing some training with his Silver Flame Magic to learn the attack spells he got and having a couple of defensive spells too, he would even work on using his healing spell to make it stronger with helping the town's doctor help some patients with wounds on their bodies.
"And… there. Your leg is healed." Laphicet said to one man.
"Wow, let's like the bruise I got from falling off that ladder never happened." The man amazed stomping his foot on the floor a few times, but then flinches in pain a little.
"Some of the pain is still there, you'll have to wait for a while to fully recover." Laphicet advised.
"Even so, you're still amazing with this magic." The doctor complimented making Laphicet blush.
The scene changes to Laphicet in the backward of his home practicing his striking powers again and about to cast another spell he found in his grimoire.
"Silver Flame Creation Magic: Shattered Paper!" Laphicet formed his fire magic shaping into paper size objects of fire then moving them around like he's fighting a group of thugs then moving onto the next spell.
"Silver Flame Magic: Pyrogenic Ring!" Laphicet unleashed a burst of silver fire around him.
Grimoirh is watching her boy training hard from the house feeling that he is getting better with his magic every day, and more so with his grimoire before sipping her cup of tea.
Then came the coming day for Laphicet to leave his hometown and everyone is wishing him good luck and a safe travel to the royal capital.
"Now remember to be careful with the path and try not to get distract from the sidelines." Grimoirh advised.
"Yes, teacher." Laphicet nodded.
"You should also know that I asked a close friend of mine, a former student you could say. Her name is Magilou and she'll meet you during the journey to help you reach the capital along the way." Grimoirh informed.
"Okay, I'll be on the lookout for her." Laphicet nodded.
"Good, now off you go and be a man." Grimoirh smiled.
Laphicet turn around to start his journey to the Royal Capital, but he stop himself for a second and turn around again hugging the little woman much to her surprise.
"Thank you for everything, mom. I love you." Laphicet thanked with tears coming out.
"I love you too, my little dragon." Grimoirh giggled with tears almost coming out.
Laphicet lets go, wiping off the tears, and walk off for real this time on his own while everyone in the town of Maotelus cheered him farewell.
