Chapter 18

"You can close your mouth. From the moment we got off the plane you haven't closed it for a single moment, do you have an intricate jaw, or what's wrong with you?"

I press my lips in a straight line.

Edward and his blunt comments drive me so out of my mind that I feel like shoving my elbow into his side.

Although I must admit he's right; I haven't closed my mouth since we arrived on the island. It's just that the weather is incredible and stepping on Honolulu soil makes the ten-plus hours of flight time be forgotten to continue contemplating this paradise.

"Welcome, Mr. Cullen." A man greets us as soon as we park in front of the majestic hotel, he approaches us with a friendly and smiling gesture. "Good afternoon, miss," he addresses me, taking my luggage from my hands, and directs me to walk ahead.

Edward guides me with his hand on my lower back.

"This is your room," he opens the door and gestures for me to come in. My eyes quickly roam the spacious and elegant place in attendance. "Isabella," he calls me taking my hands in his. "There is no problem if I leave you alone for a few hours, is there? I have to go to a meeting, and I can't postpone my time any longer."

I shake my head.

"I'm not a child, I won't get lost, I promise."

He smiles.

"I know it's too much to tell you to take care of yourself, you're doing great," he cradles my face, leaning down to my height, my breath quickens as I feel him so close to me that I immediately close my eyes and my disappointment comes when I feel his lips on my cheek. "I'll be back later," he runs me from head to toe and I bite my lip for the sensations he makes me feel. "This dress is my favorite," he murmurs. "You look beautiful in it" he bites his lip without stopping devouring me with his eyes. "I imagine you look much better without it on."

I swallow.

«What did he mean?»

At this moment my head begins to imagine a thousand and one conjectures and in each and every one of my conclusions, I am in Edward's arms.

I think I'm going crazy.

I blink as I feel his finger on my lower lip pressing it free from my teeth and I obey releasing my fragile pink skin.

"I'll miss you these hours," he promises with a wink.

Nervously I close the door as he leaves the room, let out a long sigh, and lean back until I drop to the floor.

"Edward, maybe I like you more than I'm admitting," I murmur, holding back my smile.

Like an excited little girl, I start to walk around every corner until I step out onto the balcony and am perplexed by the dazzling view of the sea.

"Edward, Edward..." I sigh his name in the wind.

After only thinking about Edward for longer than necessary I remember what I must do, I spin around the bed and stand up leaving my room, walking down the hallway I approach the helpful gentleman who greeted us and ask him politely to order a cab for me. Of course, he does so within seconds, thanking me as I get into the car.

My astonishment is heightened as I realize the address I'm going to is a few blocks down.

I sigh impatiently as I stand in front of Tyler's apartment door. I press the doorbell button six times with no one answering. An older lady walks past me with her dachshund tugging at her.

"Are you looking for Tyler?" she asks an obvious question as I stand in front of the door. I just shake my head and nod. "That boy must be working; for months now that's all he's been doing besides going to college and his workouts."

I raise my eyebrows at how knowledgeable the little old lady is.

"Do you know where he works? I need to talk to him."

The dog keeps tugging at her, even whining to keep the little old lady walking.

"Sure. Tyler works at Duke's Waikiki restaurant, it's right by the beach."

I'm speechless. Tyler works at the same resort where I'm staying, the same resort Edward owns. On my way back I go in search of the restaurant-bar. I observe everyone in the place and Tyler is nowhere in sight. Walking past a few diners who are slowly making their way through the establishment, I step out onto the beach area.

"Thank you," I hurry away, needing to get back to the hotel. The woman mumbles unintelligible things, but this time I don't pay attention to her words I just walk back to the sidewalk looking for a cab.

On my way back I go in search of the restaurant-bar. I observe everyone in the place and Tyler is nowhere in sight. Walking past a few diners who are slowly making their way through the establishment, I step out onto the beach area.

My heart stops for a nanosecond as I catch sight of his silhouette; he's holding a round tray with some drinks on it.

"Tyler!" I call out to him waving my hand. He turns, and as he looks at me his tray slips from his hands dropping the glass cups on the sand. They have been ruined. "Hello."

The gestures on his face are indecipherable. I don't know if he's happy or if it's a martyrdom to see me in front of him. I guess it must be the second option.

I take a few short steps.

"What are you doing here?" he grunts, bending down to pick up the remains of shattered glasses. "How did you get here?"

Another boy comes over to help pick up the mess, then Tyler turns and walks to the beach. I follow him.

"I understand you don't want anything to do with me, I just... I needed to make things right."

He turns and laughs as he looks at me from head to toe.

"You needed to do things right?" he mocks me; his mockery is imprinted with anger towards me. "I didn't know that sucking someone else's dick was doing things right."

He turns around, walking this time to the seashore, I tilt my face. Maybe it's better not to look for him anymore. I look at him one last time; he is tall and wearing the resort uniform: a blue t-shirt and beige shorts, his short brown hair is still the same as always.

I decide to turn around and suddenly his hand stops me.

"Why, Bella?" His voice falters as his eyes become watery. "Why did you cheat on me? I gave everything for you, for us. And you cheated me, you failed me."

His hands are cradling my face.

"I didn't mean to, Ty. I swear, I... I never meant to cheat on you. What's more, I don't feel like it was cheating because it was only once, just once."

Tyler brings his hands to his face and mimics a smile.

"Once was enough, Bella. What did you want, to do it more times so you could feel it was a betrayal?" He grabs my arms. "Did you want to keep teasing me?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. I try to get out of his grip, it's painful.

"What are you doing here, Bella?" His fingers wrap tighter around me. "Did you come for me?"

"I'm..." I bite my lip, unsure of telling the truth, "accompanying a friend, but I wanted to see you to say goodbye."

Tyler releases me. He walks away with a smile on his lips, watching me.

"Wow, I see you forgot me pretty fast," he lifts his arms. "You're such a cynic, you bitch!"

I lift my chin in anger at his offenses.

"I am here showing my face. I wanted to give closure to our relationship, bluntly, however, I see there is no point, it was a mistake to look for you."

"How many people did you cheat on me with, huh?"

"I never cheated on you. I really loved you, Tyler, with all my heart."

He takes my arms again, exerting too much force.

"Prove it to me!" he exclaims with courage. "Prove to me that it has always been me."

"I have nothing to prove. It's over between us, then there's no point."

"I don't believe you. If you're here in front of me it's because you still have feelings for me, is that it? Do you still love me?"

I deny.

"Like I told you; I wanted to end it in a different way, to show my face and tell you that I never cheated on you." I take a deep breath. "May you have a good life, Tyler, and may all your dreams come true. I will be very happy watching you play on a professional NFL team. Good luck."

Tyler covers his face with his palms stifling a laugh.

"Get out of here! Don't come looking for me again," he says. "I never want to see you again." He walks away and leaves me alone.

Perhaps, it is not the way I thought to say goodbye to him, however, I agree with his decision.

I continue on my way.

I don't know how much time has passed, but the sunset is spectacular with those orange and red colors for this very reason I decide to keep walking among the sand, walking along the seashore and letting the soft waves lick my feet while the sea breeze tousles my hair, it's nice to feel the wind on my face.

"Isabella."

I turn around, it's Edward shouting my name.

"I was looking all over for you," he explains coming to me. "Where were you?"

"I was looking for Tyler, I needed to talk to him."

"What are you saying?" he raises the tone of his voice. "You were with that idiot, why?"

"I told you, I needed to talk to him."

He snorts.

"You don't have to look for him. He hasn't wanted to hear from you so why do you insist."

"Stay out of it, Edward. It's my problem whether I look for him or not."

His temper flares as he grabs me by the arms.

"You're my responsibility, don't you understand? I brought you here and I have to take care of you, but the first thing you do is look for your ex."

I roll my eyes.

"Stop your hysteria. I looked for him because I felt like it and I'll do it again as many times as I want, and no one will stop me."

"You're not going to look for anyone." His possessive arm takes over my waist. "I won't let you go with him."

"You and I are nothing."

His intense, wild green eyes never leave my lips, hypnotizing me.

"Let me go," I ask.

"No," he denies, approaching my lips, his breath mingling with mine.

"Are you going to kiss me?"

"Do you want me to?"

"I don't know," I murmur, licking my lips, "I'm afraid you'll make fun of me."

"You drive me crazy, Isabella," he murmurs against my lips, "I can't stop thinking about you."

"What do you mean?"

"That I don't only want to kiss you, I want you with me, I like you," his nose runs along my ear making me shiver. "I like you a lot" he murmurs.

"I like you too," I confess, and he laughs with pleasure.

"I know," he admits, holding my body in his arms.

Desperate to feel his lips, I stand on tiptoe as my hands wrap around his neck.

I don't know what he's waiting to kiss me. And my impatience returns when one of his hands clasps my face, caressing my lower lip with the tip of his finger.

"Edward..."

I am about to claim, and he silences me with his lips. Yes! His lips for the first time on mine moving with such passion and force.

I open my mouth welcoming him.

I can't think of anything but Edward's warm tongue ravaging my oral cavity as his fingers squeeze my waist.

God, he kisses...

I open my eyes in disappointment as he pulls away a few inches, but I smile as he begins to leave short kisses all over my face.

"Let's go," he circles my waist and urges me to walk.

"Where to?"

"Anywhere," he stops me standing in front of me, and puts a beautiful flower in my left ear, "I need to show off my girlfriend."
