Chapter 30
Kira was shoved to the floor as soon as they appeared in the dark room, quickly flipping over and stopping in a low crouch, watching Kim with narrowed eyes.
"Seriously? Where the hell are we?" She asked, her voice giving away her anger.
"I thought that would be obvious, Yellow Ranger." Another voice chirped, making Kira sigh as she stood up properly, looking to the side to see Elsa leaning against the wall.
"Great, it's you again." Kira snapped, crossing her arms. "What's the plan this time?"
"Well, the plan was to bring Tommy Oliver here, but I'm not going to pass on the opportunity to end you and take your gem." She replied, moving to stand next to Kim.
"No, we use her as bait." Kim said, making Elsa smirk slightly.
"Bait huh? And what makes you think that will work?" She asked, the slight glint in her eyes making Kira nervous.
"She's Tommy's new girlfriend." Kim said, making Kira sigh as Elsa seemed to perk up.
"So, the do gooder Black Ranger, is dating his student? Oh that is perfect!" The black-clad female laughed, making Kira glare.
"So, what exactly did you do with Kim?" Kira asked, trying to deflect the conversation. "Because I sure as hell know that she wouldn't betray her friends willingly."
"We just gave her something to bring out a better side of her." Elsa said with a smirk. "Now, I think I will leave you two alone." She left the room and Kira looked back at Kim, only to get thrown back by a sudden kick to the ribs.
"Seriously? Why does everyone go for the bloody ribs!" She growled as she stood up. "Do I have a target on my chest or something?"
"Give up, Yellow Ranger!" Kim snapped, making Kira glare.
"Kimberly, this isn't you!" Kira said as they circled each other. "You're a Ranger! Not Mesagog's puppet."
"I am not a puppet!" Kim snapped, lunching at the Yellow Ranger. Kira managed to duck under the attack, spinning around Kim and kicking her in the back, sending her into the wall.
"Ok, you get sloppy when you're angry. Good to know." Kira mumbled to herself as Kim slipped back into a fighting stance.
"I am going to finish you Yellow. And when I do, Tommy Oliver will be all mine." She hissed, making Kira narrow her eyes slightly as she quickly thought of a plan. Or half a plan to be specific.
"Tommy isn't going to want anything to do with you if you hurt me, and you know it!" She snapped, making Kim almost growl. "Besides, you broke up with him in a letter. A pretty cowardly thing to do." Kim tried to swipe at her, but the anger building up inside the former Ranger was making her not think about her moves and made it easy for Kira to dodge. "Tommy likes a girl that can take care of herself. Someone that actually has a backbone."
"Shut up!" Kim snapped. She lunged at Kira again, only to get thrown to the ground. She tried to get up but Kira managed to get on top of her and use her legs to hold her arms on the floor by her side. "Get off me you bitch!"
"Sorry Kim." Kira said, grabbing hold of the black cord of the necklace around her neck. "Man I hope this works." She pulled and broke the necklace, pulling it off of Kim's neck. Kim stopped struggling suddenly, a black haze seeming to shimmer over her body before leaving. Kim closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them, Kira noticed that they were back to their normal brown, all traces of red gone. "Kim? You with me?"
"Yeah, I think so." Kim said, frowning as Kira got up before helping her up. Kim noticed that Kira seemed to be moving with precision still, clearly worried about whether she was back to her normal self. "Where are we?"
"I was hoping you could tell me." Kira replied, relaxing slightly. "What do you remember?" Kim winced slightly as she looked at her, guilt clear on her face.
"Everything." She whispered, looking at the necklace that was still in Kira's hand. "I was so angry. I wanted to hurt you."
"Well, good to know that plan worked." She said, looking at the necklace with a frown. "Is this a rock?"
"Don't touch it." Kim said, making Kira frown. "That Elsa woman said something about the rock changing personalities." Kira's frown deepened as she looked at the rock, her eyes widening slightly.
"Damn. Let's hope this is the last of it that she has." She muttered, ripping some of her shirt and wrapping the rock up in it before putting it in her pocket.
"And if it's not?" Kim asked as she watched what Kira was doing.
"Let's worry about that later. Right now we need to figure out how to get out of here." Kira said.
"Don't you think we should wait for the others?" Kim asked, making Kira smirk slightly.
"Please. If I waited for the others, I would still be in Mesagog's lair from the first time he kidnapped me." She laughed, walking to the door and looking back at Kim. "You ready?"
"I guess." Kim replied with a slight laugh.

"Dr O! Sit down already!" Conner snapped as the Black Ranger paced the lab. "2 hours, remember?"
"2 hours?" Adam asked, frowning at them as he recalled Jason saying something about 2 hours earlier.
"Kira has a knack for rescuing herself." Ethan said from his seat in front of the computer. "We tend to give each other 2 hours before we start panicking."
"At least most of us do." Trent commented, looking at Tommy.
"I'm worried, sue me!" Tommy replied, making Jason smirk slightly. "Besides, we have no idea what Kim would do with Kira right now."
"So, are you worried about your ex killing your girlfriend, or your girlfriend killing your ex?" Conner asked, making the whole room glare at him. "What?"
"I got it." Trini said, grabbing Conner's ear and dragging him up the stairs, ignoring the Red Ranger's protests.
"Well, while Trini murders Conner, I have something for you." Hayley said, making them all look at the red head. "I've been analysing the scan of Kim that Ethan took, and I found something strange."
"Like, going back in time strange? Or just normal mutant dinosaur strange?" Zach asked, making Hayley glare at him. "I'll shut up."
"Anyway…" Hayley said, turning back to the screen. "The scan that Ethan did managed to give me a look at Kim's brain. Now, this is just a theory, but I think that when she was turned evil by Maligore, her brain waves were altered slightly."
"What do you mean altered?" Jason asked, a look of worry on his face.
"It's not harmful, don't worry." Hayley said, making him nod slightly. "However, it left its mark. Normally, it would never have an impact. It would almost act like a supressed personality."
"So, if she was exposed to something that brought out her latent personality, like that meteor that we encountered…" Ethan started, making Hayley nod.
"It would turn her evil." She confirmed, making Tommy sit in the spare chair and started typing away, bringing up the footage from the camera outside his house. He paused the footage and zoomed in on Kim, looking at the necklace around her neck.
"It's a piece of the meteor." Trent said, making the others frown. "I can't believe she kept that thing!"
"What do you mean?" Tommy asked, looking at the White Ranger.
"You guys encountered that thing while I was still under Mesagog's control." He said, pointing to the image on screen. "Elsa took a piece of the meteor and said she was going to do some experiments with it. I didn't realise she kept it."
"So, if you get the necklace away from Kim…" Zach started, making Hayley smile.
"Theoretically, she'll go back to normal." Hayley said with a slight smile.
"But then, won't anyone that touches the necklace turn evil?" Adam asked, still slightly confused as to how the rock managed to turn Kim evil.
"Not necessarily." Tommy said, turning in his chair to face them. "If the rock is a fragment of the meteor like we think, it will just bring out a latent part of the person's personality. Because of Maligore, for Kim that's evil, and it will probably be the same for you, Jason." Jason lowered his head slightly, not keen to relive being under Maligore's control. "But if Kira manages to get it, then she'll turn into a very girly girl again and will probably just want to shop." Trini walked back down the stairs as he was talking, Conner slowly following her with his head lowered slightly.
"Tommy? Conner has something he wants to say." Trini said with a pointed look at the Red Ranger.
"I'm sorry for being an insensitive jerk and not thinking before speaking." Conner said, leaning away from Trini slightly.
"And?" She prompted, making him wince.
"And I won't make a joke out of your love life again." He grumbled, making Tommy smirk slightly.
"What the hell did you do to him Trini?" He asked, making Conner glare at him slightly.
"Let's just say he won't question a Yellow Ranger ever again." She replied with a sweet smile. "So, how long have we got left before we start panicking?"
"1 hour." Tommy grumbled, making a few of the people in the room smirk slightly.

"This way." Kira whispered as she and Kim snuck through various corridors.
"Where the hell are we?" Kim asked, following the younger woman closely.
"I have a feeling I know. I just hope I'm wrong." Kira replied, her eyes darting around as they moved. They walked into another corridor and Kira felt her heat sink as she looked at the familiar door in front of her. "Damn it."
"What?" Kim asked, freezing slightly.
"We're in Mesagog's Island fortress." She replied, looking all around before slowly creeping into the room, smiling as she saw it empty. "Come on."
"What is this place?" Kim asked, looking at all of the machines and glass containers around.
"This is where he creates his monsters." Kira said, searching all of the panels. "One of these buttons will open a portal for us, I just have to find it!"
"Can't we just walk out the front door?" Kim asked, making Kira roll her eyes.
"Didn't you listen? We're in his Island fortress. The only way we are leaving here is by portal. Unless you want to swim." Kira said.
"So what's the plan?" Kim asked, making Kira grimace slightly.
"Find the button that opens a portal." She said, making Kim frown.
"And then?"
"That's as far as I've got plan wise so far." She said before smiling as she found the right button. "Got it!"
"You Rangers are a thorn in my side." A voice hissed, making the two girls jump and spin around. Kim's eyes widened at the sight of a large, scaly creature behind them. Kira sighed as she looked at him, noticing how Kim subconsciously stepped closer to her.
"I knew this was too easy." Kira mumbled.
"What is that?" Kim whispered, looking at the strange creature with wide eyes.
"That would be Mesagog." Kira said, her eyes narrowing slightly. "You're not getting my gem, Mesagog. And your little plan with Kim didn't work."
"I knew Elsa's plan was pointless. However, here you are, with your gem as well." He hissed, making Kira move her arm slightly behind her to keep the Dino Gem out of view. "You will hand me your gem, and I will let you go."
"Do you seriously think that I'm just going to give you my Gem? Did you fall on your head or something?" Kira asked, disbelief evident in her voice.
"Your choice." Mesagog hissed. "Tyrannodrones!" The girls were suddenly surrounded by Tyrannodrones, making them slip into fighting stances as they stood back to back. "I will give you one last chance. Give me your gem, or my Tyrannodrones will take it from you."
"Do you trust me?" Kira whispered to Kim, her eyes darting around as she took in the position of each Tyrannodrone and Mesagog.
"Yes." Kim replied, worried about what the Yellow Ranger was planning, but also knowing that she knew what she was doing. Or at least she hoped that she did.
"When I say, grab my hand and follow me." Kira said, moving one of her hands to touch Kim's so the older woman knew where it was. "I'm not giving you my Gem Mesagog!" She snapped, raising her voice so the reptile could hear.
"Attack!" Mesagog ordered, making the Tyrannodrones move towards them. Kira unleashed her Ptera scream, making Kim suddenly grab her head and sending Mesagog and the Tyrannodrones flying backwards.
"Now!" Kira called as she hit a button on the panel next to her, making an invisiportal open next to them. Kim grabbed her hand and Kira pulled her through the portal, both hearing Mesagog shout something in anger.
They shot out of the portal and fell to the ground, rolling across the ground until they came to a stop.
"Damn. A little warning on the scream next time would be nice." Kim said as she lay on her back for a moment, her ears still ringing, before pushing herself up. She looked at Kira and noticed that she had ended up on her front and was slowly pushing herself to her knees. "Where are we?"
"Outskirts of town by the looks of it." Kira replied with a slight groan as she felt some pain as she moved. "I don't think we're too far from the lab. Although Hayley probably knows we're here and will probably send the Raptor Cycle for us. And sorry about the scream."
"How many gadgets do you guys have?" Kim asked, making Kira laugh slightly.
"You'd be surprised." She replied. They both jumped when they saw another portal and Tyrannodrones jumped out, followed by Mesagog himself. They both jumped to their feet and slipped into fighting stances, Kira's eyes wide. "He never comes here himself." She murmured, just loud enough for Kim to hear.
"You can't escape me that easily!" He hissed, making the two share looks. "Tyrannodrones, Attack!"
