The next morning Optimus had left early to check on the energon source. He had gotten into the habit of leaving little messages for his partner so she always knew where he was. But that wasn't always absolutely necessary, after all, Miracle could contact him at any time with her watch. But still, Miracle was happy for every loving message he left for her:
"I'm at the energon source. Be nice and don't mess around while I'm gone :-)
Greetings, Optimus"
This little message immediately put a smile on Miracle's face and sighed happily. Now that she thought about everything that had happened, it didn't seem so abnormal to her to live with an eight-meter-tall robot. After all, Optimus was a lot easier to care for than a man. Optimus practically carried her on his hands. He was always close to her, even when she didn't see him. She could always hear his spark pulsing throughout. He had already become something of a shadow for her, because even though he was far away, he was always there to help her. For Miracle, Optimus has long been more than just a partner. He was her best friend and without him she would have died out in town sooner or later. But fate brought them together. And even if Miracle didn't have the great strength that Optimus had, she still wanted to play a part in preventing her dream from coming true.
So she rushed to Ratchet to ask his advice.
He seemed to be pausing when Miracle entered the Autobots' infirmary.
"Ratchet, can I ask you something?" she asked the MediBot.
Ratchet sighed deeply. He carefully grabbed Miracle's hand to set her down on an Autobot gurney so he didn't have to bend down to her. That was hardly possible at his age. Before Miracle could say anything, Ratchet suddenly said, "What's that?"
Miracle looked down at her pendant around her neck.
"Oh that? This is my emerald. I think it might have something to do with my past." Miracle said.
"I know that. I mean the metal button on it."
Miracle took the necklace from her neck and took a closer look at the emerald.
"...What...?"
She also noticed the bug on her necklace. She immediately removed it from the chain. Ratchet pointed his laser at it and said, "It's a Decepticon bug. They have been eavesdropping on us the whole time!"
Miracle looked at the bug in horror. It was so incredibly embarrassing for her. Worse still, Megatron knew of Miracle's connection to Optimus! Her worst nightmare had come true. Ratchet asked Miracle to give him the bug and he effortlessly crushed it with two fingers.
"I have to call Optimus back immediately!" Ratchet yelled.
"No wait. He's in no danger as long as I'm here. It's more important now to find something that can interrupt our connection." Miracle said.
"Believe it or not, I've thought about that too. And that's how this came out." Ratchet said, showing Miracle a green liquid bubbling in a test tube.
"What is that?"
"I have christened it the Cybertronian Elixir. Using complicated formulas, I made this elixir. It can temporarily disrupt your connection. However, I don't know exactly how long it will take because I haven't been able to test it yet."
Miracle smiled relieved: "Ratchet... You are a genius! Will you give me some of that?"
"This is crazy, I haven't tested it yet!"
"I know. But we can always count on the Decepticons kidnapping me now. We probably don't have time for testing anymore."
"How you mean. At your own risk." Ratchet said and handed Miracle a small vial of the elixir. When she came out of the infirmary, she was a bit irritated when she suddenly thought she heard Optimus' voice. It came straight from the command center.
Miracle entered the command center, and sure enough, there he was. Miracle looked at her partner in amazement: "Didn't you want to check the energon face?" she asked.
"Oh, yes, I already have," Optimus said.
"But that happened pretty quickly. So far you've always been away longer."
"That was because Decepticons stopped us."
Miracle looked at her partner skeptically. Something wasn't right.
Optimus now turned away from his interlocutor and approached Miracle. He carefully placed his hand on the floor next to her and asked, "How about a little trip?"
Miracle shrugged, "Don't you have anything else to do?"
"No, I took the rest of the day off."
With her in hand, Optimus transformed into his vehicle mode. Miracle was sitting comfortably in the driver's seat when Optimus suddenly took off at full throttle. Miracle was so pressed into the seat by the centrifugal force that Miracle thought she would be crushed.
"What's the point of Optimus? Not so fast!" Miracle shouted anxiously.
"Sorry, I'm not Optimus," a dark, eerie voice suddenly said. Miracle watched in horror as the Autobot icon on the steering wheel turned into a Decepticon icon.
"No! Damn it!" Miracle exclaimed. She banged on the windows, but they didn't budge. Miracle began to shed bitter tears. Her dream... It would probably come true now. The Decepticons had tricked her and would take her straight to Megatron. He would kill her and with it Optimus. Now it was all over...
"Optimus... I'm so sorry. Forgive me..." she said tearfully.
