Millie had now been a member of I.M.P for about a year, and things have only improved for her. Ever since she and Moxxie became official, the two have become even more inseparable to the point it was nearly impossible not to see them together on a hit. While the two were beyond happy to be together, the same couldn't be said for Blitz and Loona. For every "I love you," or whatever sappy romantic thing they said to each other was met with a gag from the rest of the crew. But even if they noticed the disapproval of their coworkers, they wouldn't care. That's how much they loved each other.
Millie walked into the office and saw Loona at her desk, once again browsing her phone. She then looked around the office to find her boyfriend, only to find that he wasn't here, and neither was Blitz. As she went to her desk, she found a letter on top of it, which she picked up and read.
My Dear Angel of Death,
I'm afraid I won't be here to see you when you come in. Our van just got towed, so now I have to help Blitz get it back. But don't worry, we shall return shortly. We just got a job from a client, which means once I do get back I'll be able to see you murder in beautiful fashion. Yes, I could've just texted you all this, but I felt this would be more romantic. See you soon!
XOXO, Moxxie.
P.S. I really enjoyed last night with you, I hope you did too.
Oh, she enjoyed it all right. So much so that when she remembered that night she let out a loving sigh as she gave the letter a hug. The one time Loona looked up from her phone to see what was going on and she instantly regretted it.
"I want to die." She said to herself.
Just then, Millie's phone rang. Thinking it was Moxxie, she pulled it out as fast as she could only to be disappointed that it wasn't. Instead, it was her mom, Lin. "Hey, Ma!" She answered.
"Hello there, Sweetie!" Lin said. "You didn't call in a while so I figured we'd do it ourselves!"
"Oh, sorry. I've been so busy with work that I forgot to call."
"That's ok!"
"Did ya tell her I said hi?" Joe, Millie's Dad, asked in the background.
"Oh right, Pa says hi!"
"Hey, Pa!" Millie replied.
"Hey, Pumpkin Spice!" Joe said, "How's that job of yours doin'?"
"I wanna gonna ask that too!" Lin said as she regained control of the phone.
"It's great!" Millie then took a deep sigh. It would only be a matter of time before they would find out, so it might as well come from her. "In fact… I met someone."
"Ooooooohhhhh, who's the lucky imp? How strong are they? Could they take any of us in a fight?"
"Not… really."
"... what do mean not really?"
"Well, his name is Moxxie and-"
"MOXXIE!?"
"What about that twig?" Joe asked.
"She's seeing him!" Lin said.
"What!? Oh, not my daughter!"
"How do you know what he looks like!?" Millie said.
"We follow your boss on Voxtagram and see him in the pics," Lin said. "Millie, we told you and your brothers and sisters that if you find someone, make sure they're strong!"
"But Ma, he's really nice!"
"Nice ain't gonna have your back when a horde of Spider-Snakes is coming at ya!"
"He's had my back with things just as bad."
"What, with his pussy guns? And what if he runs outta ammo? I'm tellin' ya, he is not right for you!"
"You don't get to tell me what's right for me! This is my life!" Millie hung up, not wanting to hear another word from her mother. There was so much rage building up within her she flipped over her desk in an attempt to vent it, but it didn't do much at all. She didn't want to trash up the office even more than she already did, but she was so frustrated that she had to let it out on something.
So she decided to take on the hit by herself. She looked at Loona, who was shocked by her outburst. "Who's our target?" Millie said. Loona did not want to piss her off more than she already was, so she gave her the information she needed, along with opening the portal to Earth, which Millie immediately jumped through.
She landed in a forest in the evening. Her mark was in a church somewhere in this place, and she would find it no matter how long it took. "I ain't in Wrath anymore and they still tell me what to do!" Millie ranted as she walked through the forest. As if answering a call, two wolves jumped out of hiding, but she was too mad at her parents to even care.
"Even when I did what they told me it wasn't enough for em'!" she said as she dodged the first wolf's lung. The second one attacked shortly after, only to receive an uppercut from her so strong that it knocked him out. Realizing what he was up against, the other wolf fled, not wanting to mess with whoever this woman was.
Millie continued to rant as she progressed onto her journey. "My brothers and sisters always did a better job than me! But when I start doing things for myself, oh now they start to care!" Suddenly, the growl of a bear could be heard from her right. Millie looked in its direction and gave the bear a death stare, which was enough to scare it away.
Eventually, she found her church, which was set by a river that went into the ocean. Millie busted down the front door only to find it empty. It was easy to tell that this church had been here for a long time, as everything in there looked old and abandoned, from the dust-covered altar to the damaged chairs in the aisles. Millie readied her axe, prepared to take down whoever was in there.
"So what Moxxie isn't a strong guy, I still love that man to death and they ain't gonna change that for me!" As Millie vented to herself, she felt someone strike her in the head from behind, causing her to fall down. When she turned to see who had attacked her, someone in a white robe came up a struck her again with a metal stick, knocking her out.
When Millie came to, she first saw a man with black hair standing over her. He wore the same white robe she saw before getting knocked out, although now that she got a better look at him, she also saw big red vertical stripes on the lower half of the robe with a cross on his chest.
Millie tried to move but something was restraining her. Looking around, she noticed her arms and legs chained up to a stone pillar, her body forming the shape of a star. "It's awake!" The man said in a Spanish accent. He moved away from her, which gave Millie a view of a small crowd of people wearing the same robes as the man. In front of her were stairs that had 3 steps that led down into said crowd. The room itself was quite large with 2 stone columns on each side of it and what looked like a door on her far left which had stairs leading up, implying that they were probably below the church that Millie entered.
"Some of you have doubted our mission!" The man said to the crowd. "You have wondered whether demons were real! And when we killed that woman for making pacts with them, I've noticed your doubts have grown. But fear not, brothers and sisters, for as you can see, we have a demon!" The speaker pointed his knife at Millie, to which the crowd responded with a cheer.
"Look at it, a creature of Satan in our sacred place. It is our duty as demon hunters to purge this wicked thing!" The crowd gave a louder cheer. Millie tried her best to break free from her chains, but it was all futile. Her only hope was for Blitz and Moxxie to come and save her, but who knows when they would return to find out where she went.
"Satan, I'm so stupid!" She thought to herself. "I should've just waited for em'."
"Before we execute you, demon, I will allow you to say any last words you have!" The speaker said to her.
"Honestly, ya couldn't have picked a better time to kill me." Millie replied, "I just had the best night of my life last night."
"What happened last night!?" Someone from the crowd asked. Millie smiled and closed her eyes as she relived those memories in her head.
"My boyfriend took me to the bar where we first met. He bought the whole place out too, so besides the bartender, it was just us in there. When we sat down the bartender even got us the same drinks we had on that day too. Satan, he thought of everything. We talked a lot, and I swear every time he smiled or laughed at one of my dumb jokes it was the cutest thing ever.
"And just when it couldn't get any better, the music comes on. It's that song from Less Miserab- sorry, Les' Miserables, been pronouncing it wrong the whole time. It was the song that played where that one guy who was pissed off at the government meets that one girl who the tough guy takes care of. I told him I watched that VHS as a kid, so imagine how happy I was when it came on. Then he asks me for a dance, I tell him I'm not much of one but he says he can teach me. Honestly, lookin' back at it, I did pretty good for my first fancy slow dance, but my man definitely helped out.
"Then we looked at each other and he said 'I love you,' And I said I do too. Then we kiss and let me tell ya, that kiss felt like hours and hours, but it was probably a minute. At the end of the day, we went to my apartment and had the best sex I've ever had in my life!"
As she finished her story, awes and heartfelt sighs could be heard from the crowd. Millie opened her eyes, "I love that man, and what happened last night is somethin' that none of yall are gonna get!"
"That was a surprisingly heartwarming story, demon." The speaker said, "But it does not change your fate, you must die!" He raised his knife over his head, ready to strike. Millie accepted that this was probably going to be where she died. Her life flashed before her eyes, but most of it was about the love of her life, Moxxie. Her only regret was not saying goodbye to him.
BANG!
The sound snapped Millie out of her mind. She looked over at her would-be killer and saw blood pouring out of the left side of his head. As the man fell dead to the ground, Millie looked at the entrance to this room and gasped at what she saw. It was Moxxie with a look of fury in his eyes as he aimed his smoking gun at where the speaker was.
The rest of the people turned their focus toward the gunman, who was now pointing the two pistols in each of his hands at them. Then he unloaded them into the crowd. One by one the demon hunters fell, with not a single shot wasted. Some tried to attack Moxxie, but he was too quick on the draw for them as he soon filled them with lead. Even when he ran out of ammo, he reloaded with such speed that Millie could barely keep up with it.
One hunter managed to grab him from behind, but Moxxie shot him in the foot, which made him let go, before pistol-whipping him in the head so hard that he fell to the ground. He wasn't done with him though, as Moxxie continued to smack him with the butt of his pistol until all that was left of his head was meat and bones. At this point the rest of the demon hunters tried to run, only to find out that the only exit in this room was being blocked by their attacker. Moxxie finished off the rest, the situation truly capturing the definition of shooting fish in a barrel.
When he was done, the floor was decorated with the bodies of these hunters. All except for one more survivor, who was hiding behind a column on the other side. This survivor made the grievous mistake of coming out of his hiding spot, in which he saw the blood-covered imp looking over his kills. Moxxie then turned his gaze to the traumatized survivor, who felt as if he was looking into his soul.
"Y-you're the devil aren't you." The survivor said, pissing his pants. Moxxie didn't say a word, he just walked towards the man who was now getting on his knees. "Please… have mercy on me!" Moxxie responded by pressing his pistol up against the survivor's head and pulling the trigger.
Now that all the demon hunters were dead, Moxxie turned his attention to Millie. When he saw she was ok, his expression changed into a bright smile. At that moment, Millie felt what she could only describe as pure happiness as tears of joy fell from her eyes. That's when she realized something: in the darkest moments of her life since coming to Pride, it was Moxxie who was there for her. He was the only one who listened and helped her out rather than telling her to toughen up. And now he was here, saving her from sudden death. This was the imp that would always have her back, even if hell itself turned against her.
Her parents were wrong, he was strong, just not in the way they think. Millie was now more certain than ever to spend the rest of her life with this man.
She cried harder as Moxxie came over and unlocked her chains with the speaker's key. "Thank Satan you're alive!" Moxxie said as he hugged her. "What were you thinking!? You could've been killed!"
Millie only replied with a deep, passionate kiss, one that Moxxie eagerly returned. "I don't care what anyone says about us!" Millie said. "I love you, Moxxie! I love you so fuckin' much!"
The emotion in her voice made Moxxie cry as well. "I love you too, Millie," he said before returning to the kiss, tears flowing down both of their eyes.
While that was happening, Blitz came into the room panting heavily. "I told… you… to wait… up." He said before noticing the corpses on the ground. "Holy shit, Mox. Did you-" That's when he saw M&M making out, which made him roll his eyes.
"I wanna get married," Millie said, which made Moxxie and even Blitz shocked. "Please say you'll marry me."
"Y-yes!" Moxxie said, "Of course, I'll marry you!" Now both were experiencing extreme happiness as they continued their kiss. Millie spoke while kissing her lover at the same time.
"I want… a wedding cake… and a pretty dress… and a fuckton of flowers!… oh fuck them… all I want is you!"
"No… you'll get them all!" Moxxie said, kissing his future bride. "Even if… I have to kill to get them! I'll make you… the happiest imp… in all of hell!"
"Ya already are!"
Blitz had never seen anything like this. He knew they loved each other, but never to this extent. It was true love; it had to be. However, this made him jealous. After all, he never got to feel this way with anybody, and now here were two of his coworkers experiencing it right in front of him. Then it hit him: if he couldn't have it, he could at least live it out through them.
So the next time they had their lovey-dovey time, he would be there… with a video camera.
