Season 2 episode 5 Part one
After getting over the shock of seeing Serena and her baby bump they took of with Serena (much to Murphys delight) and made their way out of Minnesota.
They drove for a little while until everyone started getting a bit restless especially Serena who Ellie didnt think it would be long and she would go into labour, and the fact they were running out of supplies so they made a pitstop in Wisconsin.
Not wanting to risk spliting up incase Serena did go into labour or if Murphy tried to bolt again which Ellie didnt think he would because he was adamant about her being with him and she was currently trying to avoid him, her mind still all over the place about their last conversation which she still hadnt told the others about it.
So instead they were exploring the small town together looking for supplies untill their usual bad luck caught up to them in the way of a horde of zombies heading their way.
So now they were all currently running away from said horde of zombies who were all dressed up in parade attire from band uniforms and cheese outfits as they tried to make their way back to the SUV. Well apart from Murphy and Cassandra who were leisurely strolly along as Cassandra held a colourful umbrella above Murphy's head.
Running past Murphy, Warren and the others shot the z's as they went past while Addy and Ellie were each holding one of Serenas hands trying to hurry her along but she was struggling.
"Wisconsin Cheese Day Parade?" 10k read of a sign as he passed
"You betcha!" Addy laughed breathlessly
"Hey. I thought you control these things" Vasquez said to Muprhy as he ran past
"Not that many" Murphy said "And not for you"
Running up the hill Doc came to a stop when he spotted a big wheel of cheese.
"Whoa, wait a minute. ls that cheese?" He said as Serena stopped infront of a cardboard cutout and was sick in the hole that you usually put your face in to take photos.
Addy rubbed her back while she was sick and Ellie turned to make sure no zombies were close as the others stopped because they had.
"No way!" 10k said smiling from where he was standing next to Warren as he saw Doc cut into it. "The world's biggest wheel of cheese!"
"It's not real, Doc. Come on!" Warren said hurriedly trying to move them on
"We got to go! Puppies and kittens!"
"No, it is real!" Doc said pulling a piece of cheese of with his knife and eating it.
"Hey. Doc nows not the time to be thinking about your stomach" Ellie said even though she really did fancy some cheese which quickly dissapeared when she heard Serena be sick again
"Hey, come on. Let's go" Vasquez said walking towards Doc and Warren followed "We got to move"
"Hey, let's go" Warren said trying to round them all up, even Murphy and Cassandra had stopped now.
"She's not moving" Addy said turning away from Serena who coughed as she was sick again.
Warren looked back at the zombies as did Ellie as they tried to figure out what to do. They couldnt leave Serena behind but they also couldnt stay here. Looking back at the cheese Ellie had an idea.
"Warren cheese" Ellie said pointing towards the cheese wheel and Warren smiled catching on.
"We got an idea" Warren said walking forward "Out of my way, Doc. I need that cheese"
"Oh, come on, Warren" Doc complained has Warren inspected the cheese "Can't a man eat a giant cheese wheel in peace?"
"No. Remember Philly?"
"Oh, no. Are you thinking what I think you're thinking?" Doc said smiling
"I am"
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no" Muprhy moaned
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, OK" Addy said catching on and she walked towards the cheese leaving Ellie with Serena who was now kneeling on the floor as she tried to catch her breath while Ellie rubbed her back.
"Way to be my girl. Thanks" Warren said as Addy made her way to the end of the cheese wheel
"I got it" Addy said bending down to pull the wooden block away from the cheese that was keeping it from rolling down the hill.
"What happened in Philly?" Vasquez asked
"You'll see." 10k said smiling
"Alright" Warren said holding onto the cheese as Addy came around next to her "You ready?"
"One, two, three!" Addy said and with one big push the cheese went rolling down the hill and towards the oncoming zombies,squashing some, knocking others and taking lots with it as they got stuck in the cheese
"Damn" Vasquez said smiling
"How long you think it'll go?" 10k asked as they watched it continue rolling.
"Could go a while. I'm pretty sure it's all downhill from here to the Mississippi. Now, it's time to go. If anybody asks..."
"We were nowhere near Wisconsin" They all repeated as they turned to leave
"OK. You got it?" Addy said as her and Ellie help Serena stand up and they followed after the others and made their way back to the SUV.
Having finally made their way back to the SUV they were now driving through some fields until Serena had to be sick again and they had to pull over.
Addy was in the field with Serena comforting her, while Vasquez and Warren were looking down at a map on the hood of the SUV and Doc, Murphy and Ellie were stood against the truck. Cassandra was sat ontop of the SUV and 10K was keeping watch.
"Well, aren't you gonna at least talk to her?" Doc asked Murphy who pulled a face "Come on, Murphy. She don't bite"
"We all know that's not true"
"Gross" Ellie said scrunchy up her nose in disgust as Serena straighted up and turned to look up at Murphy and waved
"Hi" She said then her face went green and she turned and vomited again
"What's their story?" Vasquez asked Warren
"What happens in weird zombie apocalypse communitystays in weird zombie
apocalypse community."
"Yeah. Been there" Vasquez said and Warren looked up at him in suprise and he just shrugged. Looking back over at Serena they saw Addy walking towards Murphy
"She wants you" Addy said stopping in front of Murphy
"So?"
"So, she says that talking to you makes her feel better"
"Dont know why" Ellie mumbled smirking and Addy smirked back while Murphy nudged her with his shoulder as Addy continued "and that she can't get in the car unless you make her feel better.
"No" Murphy said simply
"Seriously? shes carrying your baby" Ellie said appalled but not surpised by his answer
"Murphy" Warren said seeing he wasnt budging
"What?" He said innocently while they all just stared at him and he finally gave in
"Play nice." Doc said as he walked towards Serena.
Muprhy looked rather uncomfortable but he brought Serena to the back of the SUV and they were sat at the back with the boot door open while the others talked, Until they heard Serena be sick again
"This cannot go on" Addy said
"I know" Warren said
"Can't we just leave her?" Murphy said coming up behind them
"No, we can't" Warren said as they all looked at him with disgust. "We got to find a safe place for her and your happens to you,that kid is Plan B"
Ellie looked back at Warren confused, she thought she was plan B but before she could say anything Murphy interupted
"Plan B?, What exactly are you planning on doing with it?"
"Now you care? You just wanted to leave her and the baby behind" Ellie said "and anyway anything happens to you, I have the cure they dont need the baby"
"I dont like that option either" Murphy said staring at Ellie with a fierce look.
"Ok, we'll sort that out later. Right now we need somewhere save to go" Warren said when she saw Ellie's face knowing a dissagreement was coming.
"Used to be a decent-size Mennonite community just south-east of here,
pretty remote and isolated. Passed through here a few months ago. They were still safe, then. Good chance they still are"
"I'll take that chance" Warren said when a gunshot suddenly sounded out hiting the windscreen making them all jump as Cassandra growled
"Get back! Get back!" Doc said and they all ran and took cover the other side of the SUV
"Got 'em." 10k said and the edge of the truck as he looked through his sniper
"What do you see?" Warren asked
"Couple of guys in hunting caps" 10k said before dodging back down to avoid getting shot, then taking another look "One seriously pissed-off-looking girl with..." Dodging back down he looked back at the others "She's got my same gun"
"Well, why's she shooting at us?" Doc asked
"I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with this nice Zero ride we got. Can't imagine our Mexican friends are too popular around here" Vasquez said as 10k fired at one of them
"Winged one"
"OK. I'm thinking... 10K and Addy, you guys lay down some cover fire." Warren said and Ellie peaked her head up to see Serena with a gun
"Guy_"
"And we'll flank them around..." Warren said not heairng Ellie but was soon interupted by Serena opening fire
"You dirt-eating bastards! You filthy goat-loving whores! There is a baby on board here! A mother-loving baby! I am going to rip off your arms
and saw off your head!" As she stopped firing everything was silent
"Yeah. That's what I thought, People are so rude" Serena said turning to look back at the others who stood up in shock.
"I'm starting to like this girl" Doc said
"Yeah." Murphy said a smile creeping on his face
"I think it's time for a new vehicle." Warren said and they moved off but Ellie noticed Vasquez linger back before reaching his hand through the window and pulling out a zeros radio and putting it in the bag. She turned quickly following after the others not wanting him to find out but she knew she would have to keep an eye on him.
Walking up the hill towards where the shooters where they came across a orange truck. Serena and Murphy got in the front with Warren in the driver seat and Vasquez on the otherside. While the rest of them climbed into the bed of the truck and they took of down the road.
They followed Vasquez directions until they came to a barn in the middle of the field and Warren followed the small road leading to it and they came to a stop outside
"Well, we've seen Amish zombies, Mormon zombies. We get Mennonite zombies, we got ourselves a trifect" Addy said jumping out of the bed of the truck while the others followed.
"Something must've happened here" Vasquez said looking over at the barn "Barn didn't look that way six months ago." Looking through his binocolars he took a closer look. "Wait a minute. There's some livestock. That's a good sign."
"Yeah, well, we're not going in there blind" Warren said So, Vasquez, you take the north fence. 10K, you go south. Ellie make sure no one tries to sneak up on us. Addy and I got overwatch. Be back in 20"
Nodding Vasquez went north, 10k south and Ellie made her way to Warren. Tapping her on the shoulder Warren turned and Ellie whispered in her ear, "Think Vasquez is up to something, going to check it out" Pulling away she saw Warren nod but gave her a look as if to say 'be careful' and she nodded walking in the same direction as Vasquez.
"Fine.I'll just take a nap." She heard Doc say feeling left out.
Ellie followed Vasquez through the trees which she had to duck behind every now and then when Vasquez kept checking behind him. Finally he came to a stop infront of a shed and sat down. Ellie stopped a few feet away out of sight and saw Vasquez pull the radio out of his bag and swith it on. She then could here people talking Spanish, now her spanish was rusty but she picked up Murphys name, someone called La reina, somthing about taking doctor Kurian to Mexico? And they mentioned Escorpion.
She didnt know what Vasquez was up to but he wasnt communicating with them he was just eavesdropping. Figuring at the moment he wasnt a threat, so she wnet to turn around to make her way back to Warren when an arm latched around hers pulling her backwards. Her back roughly slammed against the shed and she had a angry looking Vasquez right in her face.
"How much did you hear?!" He shouted at her roughly grabbing her jacket collar as he pushed her further back into the wall.
"Well considering my spanish isnt the greatest, not a lot- Hey easy that hurts" Ellie said resting her hands on Vasquez when he he pulled her forward and banged her back against the shed again. "I'm not a threat to you and I dont appreciate being slammed against a wall"
"Why are you following me!?" Vasquez said not letting her go
"You're not that subtle, I knew you were up to something and I wanted to make sure it wasnt something that would put us at risk"
"You cant tell Warren or-"
"Or you'll what?. You cant hurt me"
"Why? Because Warren will protect you or because Murphy's your father" Vasquez challenged her a smirk on his face
"No because you know I can defend myself, now are you going to let me go or do I have to make you?, because you know I can"
Vasquez didn't let her go at first he glared at her and Ellie glared right back and eventually he let her go and backed away from her.
"What are you going to do?" Vasquez asked her with a conflicted look on his face.
"Ill keep your secret for now, as long as you're only listening in, you obviously have your reasons but if I find out that you gave away our location or lead us into a trap. I wont hesitate, and if you ever touch me like that again... I wont take it lightly"
"Understood" Vasquez said looking less tense.
Nodding Ellie turned and made her way back to Warren, leaving Vasquez behind.
10K POV
Walking through the tall grass with his rifle in hand 10k looked around until he came across some people dressed in simple white clothing who looked like they were tending to some crops.
"Hey!" 10k shouted waving his hands in the air. A girl turned hearing his shout and when she saw him, she screamed alerting the others.
"No, it's OK! It's OK! I'm not a zombie!"
"Schvot doot! Schvot doot!" A woman shouts pointing her weeding tool at 10k gesturing behind him.
Turning quickly 10k sees two zombies right behind him and not having time to aim his gun, he uses the butt of the gun to knock it into the z's skull. What he wasnt expecting was a cloud of white powder to come from the zombie, blinding him temporally and he coughed as he breathed it in.
Once the powder cleared her saw the other zombie running towards the people while the one he hit was getting back to his feet. The zombie grabbed 10ks gun before he could use it and 10k spun trying to dislodge him but the z wouldn't let go. Pulling his knife out, 10k slashed it across the z's face and then stabbed it through its eyes. Pulling the knife out the z fell to the floor.
Turning to the people he heard them scream as the zombie got closer and he wasted no time in aiming at it with his rifle and giving the z mercy.
"Schvot doot!" The people shout again pointing towards 10ks left and he saw a zombie sheep heading towards the group. Reloading his gun, 10k fired at the sheep. When it went down the people shouted something else in their language and then ran.
"Hey!" 10k shouted following after them as they ran towards the village. Catching up to them he ran between to barns to see the people run into a metal barn with metal sheet doors, pulling them shut before he could catch up.
"Hey! Hello?" 10k shouted trying to get anyones attention "Anybody? I'm not trying to hurt you! Somebody in our group needs some help. A safe place to stay. That's all."
Waiting a few minutes 10k sighed when no-one responded, lifting his rifle over his shoulder 10k walked off and back towards the others.
Arriving back by the truck Ellie saw Warren look over at her and she just shook her head letting her know everything was ok. She then made her way to the bed of the truck and waited for 10k and Vasquez to come back.
Which she didnt have to wait long when she saw 10k walking towards them but for some reason he was covered in a white powder
"We got 10K" Addy said from her place sat on the roof of the truck.
"Vasquez?" Warren asked as she jumped out of the bed of the truck and landed next to Ellie
"Not yet" Addy said looking around. Nearly reaching the group 10k stopped when Cassandra stepped forward sniffing him, not liking the smell she backed away allowing 10k to step infront of Warren and Ellie
"Well?" Warren asked him
"Yeah, there's still people here. But they ran away from me."
"Zombies?" Doc asked
"The usual. Oh, there's also zombie sheep."
"Zombie sheep? Why not?"
"What's all that?" Ellie asked him
"Uh...came out of a Z's head when I killed it. I don't powdered brains? 10k said with a shrug and Doc laughed
"Wash that crap off" Warren said handing him a rag and he used it to wipe the powder off. "Who knows what kind of zombie cooties are in there?"
"Are we going in or what?" Murphy said poking his head out of the window.
"Yeah, but carefully" Warren said opening the truck door as she started to climb in "Something about this doesn't feel right."
"Never stopped us before" Doc said climbing into the bed of the truck followed by the others, as Warren started the truck. "I haven't felt right
since 1973."
Driving further into the the village, they pulled to a stop and got out. Just as they did this Vasquez came out from behind a white shed carrying something.
"What happened to you?" Warren asked him as he got closer
"A few Zs." Vasquez explained and held up a piece of meat in knotted string
"I found this"
"What is it?"
"Cured mutton." Vasquez said throwing it over to Doc, who hurried to catch it. "And for you..." Unzipping his backpack he pulled and a few jars and gave one to Warren "...strawberry jam. Top five missed foods, right?"
"Thanks." Addy said when he gave her one while Ellie smiled slightly grateful for the food but she still didnt trust him that much.
"Now you're finding food? How are you always finding this stuff?" Warren asked him also getting suspisious.
"Well, he found the key to my heart. Smoked pig." Doc said but was ignored
"Why don't you have white powder on you?" Warren asked him
"White powder?" Vasquez said looking confused but before he could say anything else they were interupted as they heard growling. Looking behind Vasquez they saw a load of z's running out of one of the houses and heading straight for them.
They all pulled out their guns while Cassandra backed up to the truck growling and Serena and Murphy shut the doors so they were away from harm.
Addy ran forward hitting one of the z's in the head and she was hit in the face with white powder, coughing as it filled her lungs.
Warren pulled out her hatchete and went to help but was stopped by Vasquez who held out his arm infront of her
"Wait, wait, wait!"
"Pull back! Pull back! Come on! Get out of there!" Warren said as Vasquez shot one of them in the head. Ellie ran forward, lifting up her cross bow and shot another one but didnt get to close to them.
"10k behind you" Ellie shouted stepping closer to him when he went to aim and a zombie and some of the farm people appeared behind him holidng their tools out infront of them as they charged at the zombies.
10k jumped out of the way and they pushed the zombie back and 10k piked it in the head. Doc tripped another one up with his meat and as it fell to the floor 10k quickly ran over piked it in the head and another cloud of white powder came out surrounding them both as they coughed. Seeing the powder Ellie tried to back away but was to close and she too was surronding by the white powder, forcing her to cough.
Once the powder had cleared and the z's where dead they all gathered around with the farm people stood a few feet infront of them. Murphy and Serena were now out of the truck and instead stood next to it with Cassandra and Ellie stood closer to 10k who didnt look right, which made her worry.
"You English should not be here." One of the men said
"We're not staying" Warren explained One of our people... She needs a place to have her baby." The peoples eyes went wide as they all looked over at Serena who smiled back "Uh, can I talk to a leader? An elder?"
"No, no. I am leader now. All elders are dead." The man expalined "And it is not safe for you here. The white powder. We have anthrax here"
Ellies eyes went wide and 10k looked concerned aswell. He was exsposed multiple of times.
"Alright, folks, time to go. There's no room at this inn. Uh, sorry for your trouble." Warren said hurredly as she gestured for the group to head to the truck
"Everyone has troubles these days"
"Ain't that the truth?" Warren said and as they all went to walk back to the truck 10k went down, collapsing to the floor.
"10k!" Ellie shouted dropping to her knees followed by Addy and Doc who checked him over.
"Oh, man, he's burning up." Doc said worridly
"He has it."This disease" The man explained before turning to talk to his people in his own language.
"We gotta get him out of here" Doc said
"And take him where?" Warren asked him
"I dunno- someplace without anthrax or anthrax zombies or anthrax sheep."
"We get it Doc" Ellie complained
"What he needs is antibiotics. You got any of those?" Vasquez asked
"Yeah, maybe." Doc said excidedly and he got back on his feet and ran over to the truck
"Excuse me. I gotta get to..." Doc asked trying to get past Serena when water suddenly pooled underneigh her. "oh!"
"What the hell was that?" Murphy asked
"Water broke, daddy-o."
"Well, don't just stand there. Fix it!" Murphy said panicking
"It doesnt work that way Murphy" Ellie said from her place by 10k side.
"It's all good. Won't be long now, Papa." Serena smiled
Doc helped move 10k to a barn full of other sick people and Warren and Vasquez went with. Ellie wanted to go too, but she knew there wasnt anything she could do for him. She would be more useful with Murphy and Serena
So now she was currently in another barn with Serena pacing as she tried to breathe through the contractions, Murphy was panicking in the corner and Addy and Ellie were putting the hay together and laying down some blankets ready for Serena to give birth
"I know what you're thinking, Papa." Serena said pacing back and forth "It is not the ideal time to start a family. But is there ever really a good time?"
Once the blanket was placed down one of the menominte woman came in with a bowl of water and some more towels. Walking towards them she hesitated when she saw Murphy which Addy quickly reassured her with a small smile, and she carried on coming over placing the bowl on the floor.
"I mean, yeah, sure, there are zombies." Serena said distracting herself "But there used to be Russians and...and nuclear weapons and terrorists and everything, so... If you really think about it, not much has changed. I mean, we should consider ourselves as pioneers, exploring the frontiers o-
Grabbing onto a post Serena screamed out in pain when a contraction came along.
"You gotta help her" Addy said to Murphy
"How?"
"Talk to her" Ellie said, but then after a few seconds shook her head. "Actually don't, you might piss her off". Murphy pulled a face but didnt deny it.
"We need Doc. Um..." Addy said turning to look at the young girl.
"Sorry, can we get our...Doc? Um...beard." She said making gestures to her when she looked confused "Suspenders". Still not getting it Addy pretended to take a smoke and her face lit up in recognition and walked away to get Doc.
"That she got" Ellie said dumfounded and Murphy, Ellie and Addy just looked at each other in astoudment.
Siging Serena turned to look at them "That was intense" She said laughing "We got a little monster in there." Hearing that Murphy backed away in panic, hiting a light behind him knocking it off and he struggled to get it back on.
"I'm just kidding" Serena laughed "Just kidding. I'm just kidding" Walking towards them Addy held her hands out.
"Come on. It's OK." Addy said and Serena took her hands and stepped over to some hay and sat on it with help from Ellie, her back facing Murphy.
"Can you rub my back?" Serena asked Murphy
"Rub your back?" Murphy said hesitatly
"Alright. Do it." Addy said to him when he didnt move.
"Rub, rub, rub" Serena said
"Do it." Addy said again and Murphy came forward and rubbed her shoulders harshly but she seemed to like it
"Harder!" She screamed when another contraction came along.
When she was a bit more calmer they managed to convince her to change out if her top and jeans and into a nightie. They then moved her over to the hay with the blanket and pillow to make her more comfortable , and it wasnt long till the contactions became more frequent and she screamed out in pain.
Ellie was sat next to her currently loosing feeling in her hand with how much Serena was squeezing it and Murphy was panicking again behind them
"Doc!" Murphy shouted when he saw him coming a bag in his hand and Murphy ushered him forward with his hands.
Coming forward Doc stopped infront of Serena but he looked a bit unsure about what to do, when another contraction came and Serena screamed again.
