Chapter 17
Hurt
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Klaus shouted.
Freya looked at him calmly and crossed her arms.
"She's carrying Kol's child and he wanted to…"
"I don't care what he wanted! You'll tell me where that girl is!"
"I don't know where they are," Freya replied firmly.
Klaus was so furious that he was ready to attack his sister.
"You risked her life! If anything happens to her because of your stupidity…"
"As touching as your concern is, I think we both know which part of her you actually care about."
Klaus' eyes darkened.
"Watch your tongue…"
"Niklaus," Elijah sighed. "Please calm yourself." He paused briefly and turned his eyes to Freya. "You shouldn't have lifted the spell, it's not safe for Brie to leave the compound."
"I think Kol can keep her safe," Freya replied.
"Then you're a bloody fool," Klaus snapped. "Kol might be hurting her himself as we speak!"
Freya shook her head.
"You didn't see him. He wants to take care of her and their child."
"He kidnapped her!" Klaus shouted. "She must be terrified!"
"Niklaus is right," Elijah stated harshly. "Kol, or at least you, should have understood that taking a traumatized girl somewhere against her will certainly wasn't the smartest thing to do."
Freya hesitated for a moment before replying.
"Kol won't hurt her. He gave me his word."
"You can't be this stupid!" Klaus snapped. "Tell me where they are!"
"I told you; I don't know…"
"Niklaus," Elijah warned, stepping between him and their sister. "Freya, please. We need to find them before Marcus and those other witches do. Right now, this is the safest place for Brie."
Kol hadn't slept at all, he had twirled Brie's hair around his finger and listened to the sound of her calm breathing and heartbeat. Her body felt warm and soft against him. Magic. She was magic. Holding her so close to him felt intoxicating. Their daughter was also resting, he could hear her calm heartbeat.
A family. He would have his own family. Brie needed him and he was going to be there for her. Fix the damage that had been done to her. That was easier said than done, but he was determined to succeed. She wouldn't be mistreated anymore.
And those damn witches would pay for everything they had done to her. She deserved to be happy, he wanted to see her smiling again. He wanted her to feel safe with him. He wanted to feel her magic in his veins again.
Finally, he fell asleep but woke up when the bedroom door was suddenly yanked open. Klaus was standing in the doorway, staring at Kol furiously. Elijah was right behind him.
"You," Klaus snarled. "Does your foul nature know no limits?"
Kol was on his feet immediately, he still had the towel wrapped around his lower body.
"Get out," he snapped.
Brie was also awake, she was clearly frightened as she sat up.
"Kol?" Elijah stated sharply as he glanced at Brie who also had the towel wrapped around her.
She cried out as Klaus zoomed towards Kol and threw him against the wall.
"Stop! Please!"
She got up as quickly as she could and stepped in front of Klaus. His eyes softened as he looked at her.
"It's alright, love," he hummed as he removed his jacket and wrapped it around her. "I'm here, you're safe now. He won't ever hurt you again."
She was desperately shaking her head.
"No, no, he didn't hurt me…"
"Keep your hands off her," Kol snarled as the black veins appeared under his eyes. "She's not your brood mare and she never will be!"
"Elijah," Klaus stated without turning his eyes away from Kol. "Take Brie to the car."
"You're not taking her anywhere!" Kol growled.
"Brie?" Elijah said gently. "It's alright, just come with me."
She looked scared and distressed as she shook her head.
"Please, stop… Don't hurt Kol…"
"Elijah," Klaus snapped.
"Forgive me," Elijah murmured before scooping her up.
"No, no, don't, please don't…"
"Let her go!" Kol shouted.
"Get her out of here," Klaus snapped.
Elijah zoomed out with Brie, hoping to spare her from more distress. She didn't deserve this, not after everything else she had already been through. Yet she kept pleading him to let her go, asking to get back to Kol. Tears were coursing down her cheeks and she even tried to struggle, although she obviously thought that he would punish her for that.
Poor thing. This would end right now. No one would take advantage of her again. Not Kol or Niklaus. He didn't even want to imagine what Kol had done to her last night. How could anyone hurt someone like her? The saddest part was how loyal she was to those who hurt her.
"Brie, please, try to calm down," he stated as he started the car. It was better to get her back to the compound as soon as possible. "Everything is alright, you're safe now."
"No, I need to help Kol. Please…"
"Kol is fine," Elijah stated as calmly as he could. "No need to worry about him."
