Chapter three:

Mello makes it to Matt's room where he knocks three times with three seconds between each to let Matt it is him. He opens the door stepping inside where the red head stops whatever he was doing on his laptop to turn to the blonde. "Hey Matt." He makes sure to close the door behind himself before sitting next to his best friend on the floor in the middle of the red heads room.

"Yo Mello." Matt hums in greeting back to him. "How is it going?"

"It has been going alright." Mello tells the other and glances to the laptop screen seeing a window open with a bunch of text. "What were you hacking?" He inquires causing Matt to turn back to the screen of the laptop.

"Was just hacking into a mans computer to make it send an email to police confessing to the activities that he has been doing along with proof. He has hurt a lot of elementary kids in order to get his content but he has managed to avoid legal action. So on a hacking form that I am on it was requested a paid service to help catch him. I was the one to get the job." Matt shrugs lightly as though it really isn't a big deal. "The guy is scum anyways so I wanted in on doing it. Plus I get extra money to be able to use however I want." He begins typing once more. "I am almost done. Let me just finish up then we can hang."

"We can hang out." Mello agrees as he only turns down time to hang out with his closest friend if he has something more important to do at that moment. "I also need a file that I know that you have." He isn't worried about telling Matt of his intentions since he knows the other well thus trusting him more than anyone ever.

"Let me guess. It is Near's file." Matt keeps his eyes on the screen as he keeps typing away. He is able to pick up that he is right since the two of them can read each other like an open book. "You know whatever information is on there won't help you get ahead of him in test scores." He hits the enter button stopping his typing with his eyes remaining on the screen.

"Actually. That isn't why I want Near's file." Mello admits causing the red heads goggle covered green eyes to look to him as said other turns his head. He can see the curiosity in those eyes that he stares back at. "I want to know what it says about his backstory. My mind has been a bit of a mess trying to figure out a part of him. And I just think that this might help put my mind at ease so I can focus on more important things."

Matt stares at him for a moment before turning away to his laptop. "Alright. Whatever is going on in that head of yours must seem stupid. Based on that look on your face. I just finished with this and I will get contacted by the one who asked for my services when the man is arrested." He begins typing before pulling up some files and selecting Near's.

Mello slightly leans forward looking over the information that is on there. He focuses on the information on his background.

Not much is known about his history. He arrived at seven years old. He was brought to the orphanage by L who was sent him by one of the graduates of the orphanage with it stated that he has no one. Thus it is presumed that he was sent after his family had died. Any other information he has not yet shared with anyone that we know of. He will not be forced to reveal his background. This will be updated if he does choose to share anymore information.

"Huh." Matt blinks at this. "I didn't look through all of these files just the ones of girls I was hoping to woo." He admits which Mello slightly snorts figuring that of course it is what he did. "Guess this might not be very helpful to you Mells."

Mello hums and rereads that information. "Damn it. Of course not even they know anything about Near." He clenches his hand into a fist as the thoughts of there being more to Near than one may think come to the front. "Thank you for at least helping me look into it."

"No problem." Matt nods his head and he glances to the other. "What was on your mind if you don't mind me asking?"

"Curiosity of his origins. My mind was making up things about his past. I just wanted to put those thoughts to rest." Mello crosses his arms over his chest as he isn't sure that he will be able to quell these thoughts.

"Well then why don't you try to get him to tell you?" Matt inquires causing Mello to turn to him meeting his eyes. "I mean surely there is a way to get him to talk. Or perhaps evidence in his room maybe? Something that can lead you in the right direction?" He suggests which Mello thinks isn't a bad idea at all. "Just don't go overboard. You know the trouble you will probably get into if you do. Last time you went too far, though it was a fight not something to do with Near, you had to help clean the orphanage and attend separate classes from that orphan for a month."

"Don't worry. I will keep myself in control." Mello assures Matt as he doesn't want to have to go through all of that again.

"Well at least you can't say that I didn't warn you if your emotions get the better of you." Matt shrugs it off turning away.

"I plan to investigate his room first before confronting him." Mello explains as Matt puts away the laptop. He smiles to himself as a plan has already begun to form in his head. His eyes on the red head who currently has his back to him.

"I can feel your gaze. You have a plan already and it for some reason involves me." The red head slightly groans with the blonde knowing that it is because the other just wants to be lazy playing video games.

"Of course it involves you. I need a way to keep him away from his room and someone to tell me when he heads to his room." Mello confirms so Matt comes to sit in front of him with the two of them facing each other.

"And how is that going to go?" Matt lightly tilts his head for a moment before straightening it.

"It's going to start with that big partner project coming up in two days." Mello smirks as he thinks that this is really going to work.
