Chapter 22: Secrets and Pies
One day at Sugarcube Corner, ponies were walking about outside as Chase, Twilight, and Pinkie were inside.
The alicorn couple could tell that Pinkie Pie was making something.
"Okay. All we need is a dot of salt, a dab of sugar, and a spritz of ginger." Pinkie said, tossing some berries into a bowl while Chase and Twilight watched with puzzled looks.
"Uh... Are those real measurements? How do you keep track without a recipe?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah, Pinkie. Doesn't this seem a little too much?" Chase asked with a raised eyebrow in concern.
Pinkie had just finished putting the last berries in the bowl before she poked her head up with a smile.
"Pie baking is more art than science. And this will be my masterpiece!" Pinkie explained with a proud smile as she tossed some bowls into the air before they landed perfectly on the counter. "It's to celebrate Rainbow Dash's seventy-third Wonderbolt training session!"
Twilight and Chase just smirked.
"Seventy-third? That's specific." Twilight said.
"It couldn't be that perfect for Rainbow Dash's day at the Wonderbolt Academy." Chase added with a smirk.
"I know!" Pinkie said as she brought up some blueberries in a bowl with a pie crust plate that had a rainbow pie crust. "The pie is blueberry because Wonderbolt outfits are blue. The crust is rainbow, for obvious reasons. But the most special part is the seventy-three super secret sweets and spices that represent each training session!" Pinkie giggled to herself.
"Well, do you need help with anything else?" Chase asked.
"Actually, I do, Chase." Pinkie said, gratefully. "Could you please pass the... [quickly] brown sugar, pink sugar, sweetroot, apple jelly, berry mash, and a towel?"
Twilight and Chase used their magic to grab the brown sugar, pink sugar, sweetroot, apple jelly, berry mash, and a towel. They gave them to Pinkie, who used her foreleg to scoop each of the ingredients out, putting them into a bowl and began to stir them quickly.
Unfortunately, some of the content splattered on Twilight and Chase.
"You sure are going to a lot of trouble for Rainbow Dash's pie." Twilight said admittedly with a smile.
"Do you really think she's going to love it?" Chase asked curiously.
Pinkie grabbed the towel that Twilight held in her magic and wiped the sweat off her head.
"Phew!" Pinkie said as she turned to Chase and Twilight. "That's because I know how much she loves them! My pies are her favorite! It's worth all the trouble to see her happy."
"We can see that." Chase admitted.
"Now I'm going to need some cocoa powder, cocoa flakes— Ooh! Cocoa bar!" Pinkie said as she grabbed a chocolate bar and took a bite of it.
"Want some?" Pinkie asked with her mouth full as she offered the already bitten chocolate bar to Chase and Twilight, who looked stunned.
"Isn't that for the pie?" Twilight asked in confusion.
Pinkie swallowed it and laughed.
"Oh, Twilight!" Pinkie chuckled amusingly. "That's hilarious! You don't mix chocolate into a blueberry pie! This is my mid morning, pie-making chocolate fuel that keeps this pie baking train chugging down the tracks!"
Chase blinked before he glared at Pinkie in annoyance.
"I thought I told you not to eat too many candy bars on break, Pinkie!" Chase said, causing Pinkie flinch as she looked at the alicorn stallion nervously. "Don't you know that some of them will give you too much sugar in one day? You could barely keep yourself together if you can't focus on work."
"I'm trying to lay off it, Chase!" Pinkie protested admittedly before she sighed happily. "But I just can't get enough of how delicious they are."
This caused Chase to shake his head before he smiled.
"Well, as long as you promise not to go overboard, don't get too carried away with the goodness in them. Okay?" Chase asked.
"I promise." Pinkie said before she gobbled up her chocolate bar, drank some chocolate milk, and shook her head wildly while she babbled before she stopped. "Break time's over! Now let's finish this pie! Chugga-chugga, chugga-chugga, choo-choo!"
Chase chuckled as Twilight giggled in amusement.
*Main theme*
At the Wonderbolt Academy, Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts had just flown to their bunkers after a good training session.
"Good training, everypony." Spitfire congratulated the team before she stopped Rainbow, who became startled. "Nice work, Crash. You really added that sparkle to that pressure diamond-drop."
Rainbow Dash gasped with a smile at the praise and was about to follow her team when all of a sudden Pinkie appeared in front of her, startling the cerulean mare. As usual, Pinkie had three balloons tied to her waist to help her reach the Academy.
"Surprise! Happy seventy-third Wonderbolt training session!" Pinkie exclaimed happily, hugging Rainbow, as she blew a party horn.
"My seventy-third training session?" Rainbow asked with a smile. "That's specific."
"I know!" Pinkie said while bouncing excitedly. "I'm just so proud and happy for you, and I've been counting all your training sessions, and I was going to wait until your hundredth, but I got too excited, and I know how much you love pie, so happy seventy-third training session!"
Pinkie reached behind her mane to grab the rainbow pie for Rainbow Dash.
"Whaaa?!" Rainbow said in a somewhat excited yet faking tone. "You didn't have to do this."
"I know I didn't have to, but I reeeally wanted to!" Pinkie replied back, not noticing the cerulean mare's tone. She cut a slice and brought it to Rainbow. "Have a bite."
"Whoa!" Rainbow said, looking at something off screen. "What's that?!" Pinkie quickly turned to see where she was pointing, but found nothing. She turns back to Rainbow and found the pie slice was gone. "Huh. Guess it was nothing. But wow, heh. This pie is the best I've ever had! Mmm! Is that cinnamon?"
"I knew you'd love it!" Pinkie said, jumping happily before she handed the rest of the pie to Rainbow. "Have more. I made the whole thing for you."
"Really?" Rainbow said with a fake touching tone and smile. "Oh, that's so great! But I need to go change. A-And then I have to take Tank to the vet. Heh. His sensitive tortoise tummy's been acting up again. Do you mind if I take this pie with me?"
"Of course not!" Pinkie replied back. "I gotta get back to my shift at Sugarcube Corner anyway. Congratulations again!"
"Heh. Thanks!" Rainbow said as she walked inside HQ.
"I knew she'd love it!" Pinkie said and was about to bounce away to get back home when suddenly she saw the janitor taking out the trash with the discarded pie. The sight of it made her gasp in surprise and shock. "Is that...? Is that...?!"
She zooms her way to the janitor, only to find him dumping everything in the garbage disposal.
"Stop!" Pinkie shouted, gaining the janitor pony's attention.
Pinkie jumps into the trash can to find the pie she had just made for Rainbow Dash, but found no trace of it.
"You didn't see a blueberry rainbow-crust seventy-three-ingredient pie with a slice eaten out of it in here, did you?" Pinkie asked the janitor pony, who gave her an uneasy look, with a nervous and anxious smile.
"Uh... n-no?" The janitor pony replied back nervously as Pinkie continued to smile nervously and sweat fell from her face.
"Right. Of course you didn't. That would be ridiculous. Because I made it for Rainbow Dash, and she loves my pies. She would never throw them away like trash in the trash with other trash, right? Right?!" Pinkie asked again, feeling more concerned.
"Um... riiight?" The janitor pony said, backing away sheepishly.
Pinkie had a look of suspicion on her face.
(Scene changes)
In Pinkie's party planning chamber, she was feeling really suspicious of why Rainbow would throw the pie she made for her away.
"Hmmm... That pie couldn't have been the one I made. I must be seeing things. Guess Chase was right. I did have a lot of chocolate this morning." Pinkie said as she tossed a chocolate bar into the air and ate it whole before swallowing it. "But what if I wasn't seeing things? What if that was my pie? Ha! That would be bananas!" Pinkie started to chuckle insanely before she gasped in surprise. "Unless Rainbow Dash's been replaced by an imposter who throws delicious pies away!"
Gummy's only reply was a blink.
"Or... has she been brainwashed by a pie-hating evil queen?" Pinkie asked while leaning next to Gummy, who blinked again. "You make a good point. Rainbow Dash is too stubborn to be brainwashed. Plus she hates washing." Then she hummed before going to a filing cabinet. She took out three files that each of them had a different kind of pie. "There's something else going on here. Let's look up a few of the more recent pies I've made for her. The boysenberry pie I made for her birthday... and her three half-birthday lemon meringues... and the "It's Not Your Birthday But Here's a Pie Anyway Day" custard pie! She ate all of these... Right?"
Flashback
One showed Rainbow's birthday as Pinkie gave the boysenberry pie to Rainbow, who gasped excitedly yet fakely.
"Another pie!? Thank you so much! Whoa! What's that?!" Rainbow shouted, pointing at something behind Pinkie as the pink pony quickly turned around to find nothing. Rainbow quickly swatted the pie away from Pinkie, who turned back to the cerulean mare, who did fake munching sounds.
"Huh. Guess it was nothing. Heh-heh." Rainbow said with a chuckle.
(Scene changes)
The second flashback showed Pinkie handing the three lemon meringues to Rainbow Dash at the cafe.
"Awesome! Three lemon meringues?" Rainbow asked before she looked behind Pinkie. "Uh... Hey, what's that over there?"
Pinkie turned to where Rainbow was pointing, giving the rainbow maned mare to toss the three pies onto three tables were a few ponies were sitting at. They gasped at the sight with satisfaction. Pinkie quickly turned back to Rainbow, who made fake munching noises.
"Oh, never mind. Heh. Great pies!" Rainbow said.
(Scene changes)
The final flashback showed Rainbow walking in town when Pinkie popped her head out of a bush while holding a custard pie.
"Happy "It's Not Your Birthday But Here's a Pie Anyway" Day!" Pinkie shouted before giving the pie to Rainbow.
"Thank you." Rainbow said in a fake generous tone before noticing something behind Pinkie. "No way! Check that out!"
Pinkie looked behind her, not noticing Rainbow used a wagon to catapult the custard pie on an opened window where shoeshine was living. The sight of the custard pie made her gasp in surprise.
"Oh! It's not even my birthday!" Shoeshine said with a smile.
Pinkie turned back to Rainbow, who made the fake munching noises.
"Oh, sorry. Guess it was nothing." Rainbow said before she did a fake slurp. "Mmm! But that custard was everything!"
Flashback ended
Now the shows the present day as Pinkie was still feeling suspicious.
"Have I ever really seen Rainbow Dash eat one of my pies? And do I always look when somepony points behind me?" Pinkie asked Gummy, who stuck his tongue out while spacing out. "What's there?! Heh. Good one. But I need answers."
Pinkie grabbed a detective's hat and went to investigate with a determined look on her face.
(Scene changes)
Pinkie's first stop was at Wonderbolt HQ as she was in the office, talking with Spitfire, Soarin, and Fleetfoot.
"I've sent Rainbow Dash a pie every month. She's been a Wonderbolt, and you're telling me you've never seen her eat one?" Pinkie asked in a serious tone.
"Uhhh..." Spitfire, Soarin, and Fleetfoot said in unison with uneasy looks.
"Uh, affirmative. Or, uh, negative. Um... I-I-I mean, she wasn't seen eating one." Spitfire managed to say, but was still confused.
"Hmm... Interesting. Very interesting." Pinkie said suspiciously.
"Are we under investigation?" Spitfire asked confusedly before she became firm. "Because if this is one of your silly shenanigans, Pinkie Pie, Chase is definitely not gonna like it."
"This has nothing to do with the silliness I do and no, Chase won't find out!" Pinkie snapped before she settled down. "As chief detective on the pie case, I've labeled you all ponies-of-interest. So it's best you tell me everything you know."
"Well, we have been getting mysterious monthly pie donations." Spitfire responded back.
This caused Pinkie to gasp in surprise before she became serious again.
"Would you be able to pick these pies out of a line up?" Pinkie demanded with a glare as the three Wonderbolts nodded in reply.
(Scene changes)
At Dr. Fauna's animal shelter, the vet was sitting at the end of her table with Pinkie standing on the other end.
"I hear Rainbow Dash's pet tortoise Tank has been having tummy troubles. When did it start?" Pinkie asked suspiciously.
"About a week ago. Poor Tank had all the telltale signs of sugar overload – jittery shell, sleeplessness, reptilian indigestion." Dr. Fauna said, putting a file down with photos of Tank.
"Hmmm... And this all happened the day after I made Rainbow Dash a "Thanks For Lending Me Your Jacket" peach pie. It seems the pieces of the puzzle are plopping into place, but the picture isn't pretty." Pinkie said before she gasped. "Note to self – P. Alliteration Pie. Is that everything, Doctor?"
"Well, there's also this." Dr. Fauna said, showing an x-ray picture of Tank with a pie in his body.
"Interesting. Did you have the lab analyze the flavor of that pie?" Pinkie asked while taking the picture to look at it before turning her attention back to Dr. Fauna.
"No. But you know, Miss Cheerilee was in here not long ago. The class hamster was having similar symptoms." Dr. Fauna answered and then gasped in realization. "Perhaps it's a pie pandemic!"
"Perhaps. And I just might know Pony Patient Zero!" Pinkie said as she blows her pipe with bubbles coming out of it.
(Scene changes)
Pinkie went to the Ponyville Schoolhouse where Miss Cheerilee was cleaning the chalk board.
"Dr. Fauna's right. I do always have to remind the foals and fillies not to share the pies with the class hamster. Animals just can't digest pony food." Miss Cheerilee confirmed the pink pony.
"Indeed. But where do these pies come from?" Pinkie asked with a serious glare.
"Well, they're from Rainbow Dash. She drops off her "Day After Rainbow Dash's Half-Birthday" pie every year." Miss Cheerilee explained with a smile.
That caught Pinkie by surprise as she jumped on the desk, leaning into Miss Cheerilee's face, making the teacher lean back a bit without falling off her chair.
"Did you say the day after her half-birthday?! Very, very interesting. Because I give her a pie on her half-birthday every year! And I have a feeling it's the same pie." Pinkie said, climbing down from the desk with her eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"Well, wherever it comes from, the students just love it." Miss Cheerilee said with a smile.
"I'm so glad." Pinkie said with a forced smile before she muttered bitterly. "At least I can be sure somepony is."
(Scene changes)
Back at her party planning cave, Pinkie had a diagram of the pies Rainbow Dash hadn't eaten.
"She didn't eat the blueberry. She didn't eat the banana. She didn't eat the cream, and she didn't eat the chocolate." Pinkie said while pacing back and forth before she stopped to look at the diagram before she glared at Gummy to think he was her only suspect. "She didn't eat any of 'em! Why?! And don't tell me this all just started recently! It's been going on for years! Cheerilee said so herself. If there's one thing I know, you can't escape the truth!"
Pinkie looked at the photos of Miss Cheerilee, Spitfire, Soarin, and the janitor pony before she looked at Rainbow Dash's picture. It hit her as thunder and lightning clashed in a black background behind Pinkie.
"Rainbow Dash doesn't like pie, and she's been lying to me about it the whole time!" Pinkie shouted as she screamed in terror.
That's when Applejack came in with a bucket full of apples and heard Pinkie's scream, alerting the orange pony.
"Pinkie Pie?! Pinkie?" Applejack asked worriedly as she searched the place. She then pressed a button that activated the trapdoor to the party planning cave, causing Applejack to yelp in surprise. "Whooooaaaa!"
She landed on all fours as the bucket landed on her back perfectly and the apples landed in the bucket safely as Applejack grunted a bit before settling down.
"Oh. Party-planning cave. Right." Applejack said as she smiled a bit with a chuckle before she went over to Pinkie Pie with a concerned look. "You okay? Or are you just screamin' for fun?"
"Screaming is fun." Pinkie responded back with a smile before she slammed her front hooves on the ground angrily. "But I'm not okay! I've been making Rainbow Dash pies for years, but she doesn't even like them. She's been lying to me!"
"But everypony loves your pies. They're the greatest thing since sliced apples." Applejack said with a smile.
"Thank you!" Pinkie responded back but in a worried tone.
"And I could swear I've seen her eat one of your pies before." Applejack said in thought.
"Have you reeeaaally?" Pinkie remarked with a glare.
The look on the party loving pony's face made Applejack feel uncomfortable.
"Um, I... thought I had. That's why I said it?" Applejack asked worriedly for Pinkie.
"Are you sure?" Pinkie demanded.
"Maybe I haven't...?" Applejack replied back honestly.
"Exactly! Because it's all been a sham! Rainbow Dash has been laughing at my pies behind my back and scheming of a way to get rid of them for years!" Pinkie said as she imagines a different version of Ponyville in a creepy appearance.
Rainbow Dash was now like that of a mad pony with a very sharp pointy mane, tail, and feathers as she smiled wickedly.
"Bring forth the worst-tasting food in all of Equestria!" Evil Rainbow said as Pinkie looked horrified and three ponies with hoods covering their faces walked up to the wicked mare with wagons filled with all of the pies Pinkie Pie made.
"And now I will destroy Pinkie Pie's horrid abominations, freeing the land of these disgusting pies forever!" Evil Rainbow said with a sinister smile.
"Nooooooo!" Pinkie shouted in horror.
Evil Rainbow shot red lasers from her eyes as they destroyed the pies.
"Good riddance, strawberry cream and peaches 'o plenty! Begone, apple crumble and lemon surprise!" Evil Rainbow said gloatingly as she zaps some more pies in the process. "Gone! Gone! Gone!"
Evil Rainbow laughed wickedly as thunder and lightning clapped in the background.
The vision returned back to the present as Pinkie was still horrified while Applejack looked at her with concern.
"I really don't think that's what's happening." Applejack said, trying to reason with Pinkie, who wouldn't listen.
"I don't think so either." Pinkie responded back with a smile before she glared bitterly. "I know so."
"Well, I've got just the thing to get your mind off all this madness. We've had a great apple harvest, so I was hopin' you could whip up a few of your delicious pies." Applejack said, pushing the bucket of pies to Pinkie.
Pinkie smiled wickedly.
"Yes. I will make pies. Lots of pies. I'm going to make Rainbow Dash so many pies, it'll force her to admit the truth. Or I'll catch her in the act of getting rid of them. Operation: "Pie of Lies" is a go." Pinkie said, smirking deviously before she returned her friendly smile to Applejack. "Thanks, Applejack. I knew I could count on you to come up with a plan."
Pinkie then mysteriously disappeared.
"I don't think that's what I did. Also, uh... how do you get out of here?" Applejack asked while looking around.
(Scene changes)
At Rainbow Dash's cloudominium, she was sleeping soundly and sleepily turned her head to her right. Pinkie Pie was lying on her bed staring at the cerulean mare with a smile on her face.
"Surprise!" Pinkie shouted while ringing a cowbell, waking Rainbow Dash up in surprise.
"AAH!" Rainbow screamed in fright, falling off her bed before standing up to show her messy mane. "W-W-What's happening?!"
"Happy unofficial "Wake Your Friends Up" Day!" Pinkie Pie said happily as Rainbow looked relieved to see her.
"Ugh. Ugh. I've never heard of "Wake Your Friends Up" Day." Rainbow said as she slapped her face while climbing back on her bed.
"Well, it's unofficial. But I made you your favorite pie in celebration! Ta-da!" Pinkie shouted, bringing out a cream pie in her hooves. "Gifts are the second most important part of "Wake Your Friends Up" Day."
Rainbow was confused by that.
"What's the first most important part?" Rainbow asked, rubbing her head in confusion.
"Accepting the gifts and enjoying them immediately." Pinkie said in a stern tone before she smiled as she handed Rainbow the pie.
"Uh... Well, I'm sorry I forgot about "Wake Your Friends Up" Day. Let me make it up to you. Here!" Rainbow said, grabbing some flowers from her flower bed, waved some pollen on Pinkie's face before handing the flowers to her.
The pollen was so much that it made Pinkie sneeze. It was enough for Rainbow to lift one of her Wonderbolt posters to reveal a secret passageway and tossed the pie down before she quickly pulled the Wonderbolt poster down to face Pinkie with an over the top smile.
The pie went down through the tunnel before it landed in Tank's mouth after the tortoise saw it coming and swallowed it whole. He then gave a toothy smile.
"Aachoo!" Pinkie sneezed and quickly recovered before she looked around the place for the pie. "The pie! Where'd it go?!"
"What do you mean where did it go? Heh-heh." Rainbow said with a chuckle as she rubbed her tummy. "Mmm-mmm."
Then she flew off as Pinkie was feeling more agitated.
"How—?! Where—?! When—?!" Pinkie sputtered in surprise and made distress noises.
(Scene changes)
At the Wonderbolt Academy, Rainbow Dash was in uniform and walked across the runway when Pinkie Pie plopped down on the ground with six balloons tied to her waist.
"Congratulations on your seventy-fourth Wonderbolt training session!" Pinkie said happily as she brought a pie and looked more stern. "Here's a pie. Now eat it!"
She gave Rainbow another over the top smile.
"Okay, this is getting a little out of hoof. I haven't even trained yet." Rainbow said a little creeped out by this.
"Well, I wanted to pre-celebrate because I already know how great you're gonna do." Pinkie responded back excitedly before she glared at Rainbow. "Eat the pie!"
Rainbow Dash took the pie from Pinkie, who smiled as she was pleased. Rainbow Dash looked around and saw something.
"Pinkie, look out!" Rainbow said and this time in a more shocking tone.
"I'm not gonna fall for-" Pinkie said with a smirk, but was cut off when Spitfire crashed into her as the pink pony screamed in surprise. Spitfire noticed this and shoved Pinkie off her. "Whoa!"
Pinkie falls into a tree, crashing a few limbs in the process before she ended up getting stuck upside down.
Rainbow tosses the pie away before she zooms over to Pinkie, who plopped on an emergency wagon. Spitfire joined her.
"Pinkie! Are you okay?!" Rainbow asked worriedly as the medical pegasus stallion strapped Pinkie on the wagon.
"Get me down!" Pinkie demanded angrily as she struggled to break free.
"Sorry, ma'am, but we have to make sure you didn't sustain any internal injuries." The EMT Pony responded back firmly, pushing Pinkie on her back.
"But the pie! What happened to the pie?!" Pinkie asked demandingly.
"Oh! The pie was delicious! You just get better!" Rainbow answered with a smug smile.
The EMT Pony begins to pull Pinkie away as she struggles to break free from the straps.
"Noooooooo!" Pinkie shouted in anger and despair.
(Scene changes)
In Ponyville, Pinkie hid behind a house with a determined glare so she could at least let Rainbow Dash eat one of her pies. She pokes her head out to look around a bit before she smirks deviously once she sees Rainbow flying in the background.
"Ah! Somepony help me!" Pinkie said in an unconvincing tone before zipping away as Rainbow heard her and flew in her direction.
She sees Pinkie on a mountain of pies she had just baked recently in an attempt to get the cerulean mare to eat.
"Rainbow Dash, thank goodness you're here!" Pinkie said in the still unconvincing tone as she wobbled on the pie mountain. "I was trying to fix the top pie on my pie pyramid, but the whole thing became unstable. And there's only one way to save me! You have to eat the pies!"
"Don't worry, I gotcha!" Rainbow said assuringly yet cockily before she flew her way around the pie mountain and all the way up to Pinkie, pulling the despaired mare down on the ground safely.
Pinkie forgot that Rainbow had super speed and could pull anypony to safety.
"Oh, right. Or you could save me that way." Pinkie said bitterly to herself.
"You gotta be more careful, okay?" Rainbow said before she flew off somewhere else.
Pinkie growled in frustration as her plan failed again. She slammed her hooves on the ground loudly, which caused the pies to collapse on her.
(Scene changes)
Later, some ponies were chatting with each other as Rainbow was walking in town enjoying the day.
That's when Pinkie zipped right in front of Rainbow Dash, startling her in the process, with a wagon filled with different kinds of pies.
"Rainbow Dash! I wanted to thank you for saving me from the pie pyramid, so have a pie! Have three! Have fifteen!" Pinkie said with a crazy smile than usual. "I know how much you love them! Now eat up!"
Pinkie showed an insane look and smile, showing that she was on the verge of becoming a mad pony.
"Uh... Thanks!" Rainbow said, nervously while sweating.
She then turned her attention to some foals laughing with each other about a joke one of them told.
"I can't wait to eat…" Rainbow said before she concluded loudly. "...all these pies!"
This got all of the foals' attention and ran up them, forming a dust cloud in the process. Once they moved past Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie, the pies were gone as Rainbow did the same fake munching sounds.
Pinkie, however, was feeling more shocked and agitated.
"What!? Where did they-?! How did you-?!" Pinkie sputtered loudly.
"Delicious!" Rainbow said while rubbing her tummy with a grin. "You did it again, Pinkie!"
But instead of taking it as a complement, Pinkie became angrier and started to lose it as she tried to maintain it while growling like a mad dog.
(Scene changes)
At Town Hall, a banquet filled with tasty treats was set up as ponies gathered around to taste them. Standing at a table that had different kinds of pies, Chase, Twilight, Nyx, Applejack, Clay, Sunray, Trini, Antonio, and Jade were enjoying themselves with each plate of sliced pie.
"Boy, that sure felt good." Sunray said as he finished his fill.
"Yeah. Pinkie Pie sure makes the best ever." Jade said as she took a bit of her half eaten pie. "I still can't believe she made all of them for everypony in one day."
"Hey, speaking of Pinkie, have you guys seen her?" Clay asked while looking around for the pink pony.
"We haven't seen her all day." Twilight replied back with a look of concern. "I hope she's doing okay."
"I don't know, Mom." Nyx said to her mother with a concern look. "Because when I went to Sugarcube corner, she was like going totally more insane and cuckoo than she already is."
"Well, let's just hope she hasn't gone all sugary after I told her not to eat too many chocolate bars in one day." Chase said with a smirk as Twilight, Jade, Trini, and Applejack giggled in amusement while the other boys snickered in agreement.
"Yeah, the last thing we need is another one of her surprise motivations." Sunray said in agreement with his brother.
"I don't see what the problem is, this pie just tastes great!" Antonio said, eating a pie in one bite and swallowing it whole. "Oh yeah, that felt great."
Then he turned to see his family, Applejack, and Clay glaring at him unamusingly.
"What?" Antonio asked.
Walking to a table that had other pies, Rainbow went to take a slice when she was giving the shock of her life as Pinkie appeared underneath the table with a custard pie on her head.
Strangely thought, Pinkie Pie was also acting crazier and was about to lose her cool as she tried to contain it while her mane and tail was messy. And by the look in her eyes, they were bloodshot as if she hadn't blinked all day.
"Rainbow Dash, there you are! I made a pie for everypony, and you're the only one who hasn't eaten hers yet." Pinkie said with a crazy smile while handing Rainbow Dash the pie. "So here. Your pie. For you to eat. Now."
Pinkie glared at Rainbow, who took the pie with an uneasy look on her face as she was creeped out by the party pony.
"Are you okay? You seem to be staring more than usual." Rainbow asked with concern.
"I just really like to watch others enjoy my pies." Pinkie replied while she giggled unhingely.
"You sure you don't have to blink?" Rainbow asked again while also being worried for Pinkie.
"Me? Nope. I'm not much of a blinker." Pinkie replied back creepily while licking her eyeballs in the process. "Don't mind me. Go ahead and take a bite."
"Well... Do I want to take a big bite or a small bite...? I just don't know... Or maybe medium? No, no, no. Definitely not medium." Rainbow said while thinking as Pinkie was now starting to look like she was losing it.
Pinkie then started to pant and strain through her forced toothy grin.
"Just try some." Pinkie demanded in a high pitched voice.
Then Rainbow opened her mouth, preparing to eat the pie.
"Ahhhh..." Rainbow Dash said as she was about to eat it and Pinkie tried to maintain her cool, which was easier said than done when… "Do you have any milk?"
On the verge of a meltdown, Pinkie was beginning to lose her cool as time slowed down. In the process, the bell rang slowly as Cherry Berry ate her pie as some of it flew on Caramel as he moved a bit back in amusement. A bird flapped its wings and Pinkie closed her eyes.
Suddenly, in fast motion, Rainbow grabbed some balloons and tied them to the custard pie, causing it to float away.
Pinkie had just opened her eyes to see Rainbow fakely licked her lips and time resumed back to normal.
"Ah, never mind. Your pies are just too good to resist." Rainbow said as she walked away while Pinkie looked around frantically for the pie.
Then Pinkie finally had enough.
"What?! No! No! That's it! I can't take it!" Pinkie shouted in pure anger and rage, gaining everypony's attention.
"Huh?" Chase said in confusion as his family shared the same curious look on his face. "What's going on?"
"Uh, everything okay, Pinkie?" Rainbow asked worriedly.
"No! Everything is not okay!" Pinkie yelled angrily. "You hate my pies!"
This caused everypony to look at the two in shock of what they just heard.
"What?" Nyx asked in surprise by what she just heard.
"What are you talking about?" Rainbow asked in confusion.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about! I saw what you did! Well, I didn't see what you did. But I know that you've been fake-eating my pies! You threw away the pie I made for your seventy-third Wonderbolt training session, and I know you secretly somehow got rid of all the other pies I gave you! Admit it!" Pinkie demanded, not noticing the pie floating above her.
"That's crazy! What do you think I did? Somehow make them all disappear into thin air?" Rainbow asked with a smirk.
That's when the pie fell on Pinkie, splattering her in the process as Rainbow looked nervously at the angry pink pony.
"Okay. So maybe I made one of them disappear into thin air." Rainbow said with a nervous chuckle.
Chase sees this as he pinches the bridge of his nose with his two index left feathers.
"Oh, this can't be good." Chase said as he glared at Rainbow sternly.
Jade, Sunray, Trini, Antonio, and Nyx nodded in agreement as they glared at Rainbow.
"How could you?!" Pinkie screamed in pure anger.
"Care to explain that to her, Rainbow?" Chase asked with a stern glare.
"What?! I, uh... I-I just wanted to share these amazing pies with the folks of Cloudsdale! So I, uh... I was trying to send them up via... balloon mail." Rainbow feebly tried to explain.
"But you just said they were delicious." Pinkie growled viciously.
"Well, obviously that's because... I have amnesia!" Rainbow replied back nervously.
Pinkie wasn't completely convinced.
"I've been brainwashed!" Rainbow tried again, but Pinkie still kept on glaring at her angrily. "I-It's Opposite Day?"
"Who would've come up with that?" Sunray asked in disgust by the cerulean mare as he glared at her with the rest of his family and Pinkie angrily wiped the pudding off her face.
"Your memory is working fine, you hate washing, and I know today's not Opposite Day because I baked you a pie for it every year. A pie that you'd probably just throw away. Or give to charity. Or destroy with your laser eyes while laughing at me!" Pinkie yelled angrily and furiously.
"Laser eyes?" Rainbow asked confusingly.
"Oh! Oh! So you admit it!" Pinkie retorted in rage before she stomped away.
"What? No! I can explain!" Rainbow tried to reason with Pinkie, who could only glare at the cerulean mare.
"I don't want to hear it!" Pinkie shouted in anger, kicking a pie tin at Rainbow before she ran off for home.
Rainbow gazed at the empty pie plate sadly and ashamedly.
(Scene changes)
At the Castle of Friendship, Rainbow was pacing back and forth guilty of how she hurt Pinkie so much. Twilight and Applejack sat on the sofa while Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, Antonio, Clay, and Nyx stood next to them while they glared at Rainbow.
"She won't listen to me. She won't let me apologize." Rainbow said as she sighed sadly. "I feel terrible."
"Gee, ya think?" Chase retorted angrily as he sighed heavily before he glared at Rainbow. "Rainbow, do you have any idea how much work Pinkie put all of her effort to make those pies for you to eat?"
"Come on!" Rainbow snapped at Chase angrily. "What was I supposed to do anyway?! Tell her I can't eat that many in one day so I could be hyper?"
"That's putting it mildly." Jade confirmed firmly as she glared at Rainbow. "But lies or not, Rainbow, you did hurt Pinkie pretty badly. That's just uncool for somepony like you would be loyal to your friends."
"But I am loyal." Rainbow argued with Jade with pleading eyes.
"Well, Jade is right about Pinkie. You have been lying to her. To all of us, actually." Twilight said as she gestured to her family, Applejack, and Clay.
"And just trying to throw away the pies is just dead wrong." Clay said in agreement as he glared at Rainbow.
"Yeah. Is there anything else you're lyin' about that we should know?" Applejack asked, glaring at Rainbow sternly.
"No! Well, not that I can think of off the top of my head." Rainbow said, but the others weren't convinced. "Is it my fault that I don't like pies? And not just Pinkie's pies. All pies! I know how much she loves making pies, and if I told her I didn't like them, it would have crushed her."
"Uh, you kinda crushed her anyway." Applejack remarked, still bitter toward Rainbow.
"Yeah, like really bad!" Antonio exclaimed.
"Oh, but I...!" Rainbows said as she stuttered before she sighs in defeat. "You're right. I guess I should've just eaten the pies in the first place."
"But how are we gonna make sure that you make it up to her?" Chase asked.
That's when Rainbow gasped as she got an idea in her head.
"Wait! That's it! I know how I can make it up to her!" Rainbow said with a determined smirk as she ran off while Applejack and Twilight smiled in approval.
Chase, his family, and Clay looked rather uneasy.
"Uh, you guys got the feeling she's gonna do something that might be the worst ever?" Chase asked his family and Clay with uncertainty.
"I'm afraid to find out why, bro." Jade said with worry as Sunray, Trini, Antonio, Nyx, and Clay had the same worry look.
Twilight and Applejack saw this before they instantly figured out what Rainbow Dash was gonna do.
"Wait, are you guys thinking that…?" Twilight asked nervously as Applejack looked more worried about this.
"Yep." Sunray confirmed.
"Oh no." Clay said in concern.
(Scene changes)
At Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie was just laying on her bed with her face planting on her pillow with Gummy on it.
Then a green smoke flew into her open window as she smelled the awful odor as she lifted her head to face her alligator pet.
"Pee-yew! Gummy, is that you?" Pinkie asked in disgust.
A few rocks hit the window glass as they bounce off, gaining Pinkie's attention.
"Huh. What is that?" Pinkie asked as she opened her window all the way and looked to see Rainbow. The sight of her made Pinkie glare at the cerulean mare. "Oh. It's you."
"Pinkie Pie, wait!" Rainbow called out to Pinkie with a guilty and ashamed look. "I know now that I should've been honest with you from the start, because lying to your friends is wrong. And because getting rid of all those pies was a giant hassle. I mean, do you have any idea how many pies you've made for me over the years?"
Sadly, saying the words weren't helping a bit as the others behind her just shared looks and gestures to each other showing Rainbow wasn't doing any good.
"Yes, I know exactly how many. I have a very detailed pie-ling system." Pinkie said bitterly.
"Of course you do." Rainbow said with an eye roll before she recomposed herself. "The point is I thought the hassle was worth it just to spare your feelings, but I was wrong. So to make up for it, I made this pie for you." She showed a terrible pie that had some sort of concrete for the crust as some of it had garbage in it while the awful smell came out of it. "Well, I guess I made it for me. To eat in front of you. Point is I'm eating this pie for friendship!"
Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, Antonio, Nyx, Twilight, Clay, and Applejack looked really worried for Rainbow as they looked at the awful pie in disgust.
"Oh boy, this can't be good." Chase said with a disgusted look from the awful smell.
"Wait. That smelly circular monstrosity is a pie?" Pinkie asked while pointing at the disgusting pie.
"Yeah! I know I can't go back and eat all the pies you made for me in the past, so instead I'm going to eat this one giant one for you now. So here I go." Rainbow said as she dived into the pie and some of the garbage splattered a bit.
"Oh, I can't look!" Nyx said with worry as she shielded herself with her wings.
"Don't worry, honey." Jade said to her niece while looking away. "It'll be over soon."
Rainbow took a big chunk of the pie as a bubble popped out some of the garbage onto the cerulean mare's face. She opened her mouth and was about to eat it when…
"Wait! I can't watch you do this!" Pinkie said in horror as she raced her way outside and opened the doors. "I mean, is that crust or some kind of concrete?"
"Yeah, honestly, I have no idea." Rainbow said honestly and sheepishly.
"It might be better if you don't know, Pinkie." Chase said with caution.
"Oh, I can't believe you're willing to eat this terrible pie for me." Pinkie said guilty of how much her friend went through to eat piece of pie for her and she just accused her for not eating them. "It's ridiculous, and this whole thing is overly complicated, and..." She sighs. "...I think I finally understand why you lied."
Flashback
We got back when the first flashback showed Rainbow's birthday as Pinkie gave the boysenberry pie to Rainbow.
"Whoa! What's that?!" Rainbow shouted, pointing at something behind Pinkie as the pink pony quickly turned around to find nothing. Rainbow quickly swatted the pie away from Pinkie, who turned back to the cerulean mare, who did fake munching sounds.
"Huh. Guess it was nothing. Heh-heh." Rainbow said with a chuckle.
"I'm so glad you enjoyed my pies!" Pinkie squealed excitedly while hugging Rainbow.
(Scene changes)
The second flashback showed Pinkie handing the three lemon meringues to Rainbow Dash at the cafe and she turned to where Rainbow was pointing, giving the rainbow maned mare to toss the three pies onto three tables where a few ponies were sitting at. They gasped at the sight with satisfaction. Pinkie quickly turned back to Rainbow, who made fake munching noises.
"Oh, never mind. Heh. Great pies!" Rainbow said.
Pinkie squealed out excitedly.
(Scene changes)
The final flashback showed Pinkie popping her head out of a bush while holding a custard pie giving the pie to Rainbow.
"No way! Check that out!" Rainbow said shockingly pointing at something behind Pinkie.
Pinkie looked behind her, not noticing Rainbow used a wagon to catapult the custard pie on the window Shoeshine was living at.
"Oh! It's not even my birthday!" Shoeshine said offscreen.
Pinkie turned back to Rainbow, who made the fake munching noises.
"Oh, sorry. Guess it was nothing." Rainbow said before she did a fake slurp. "Mmm! But that custard was everything!"
"Seeing you eat my pies makes me the happiest pony in all of Equestria!" Pinkie said happily.
"Heh. I know it does." Rainbow said with a chuckle.
End of Flashback
"You did a lot of ridiculous and overly complex things to get rid of my pies because it made you happy to see me happy. Just like I went to a lot of effort to make you the pies because it made me happy to see you happy." Pinkie with a smile.
"Yes!" Rainbow confirmed with a smile.
"And if you're willing to go through all of that, it really shows how much you're willing to do for your friends." Pinkie said.
"Aw, shucks. It was nothing." Rainbow said with a smirk.
"Sure it was." Chase said with a teasing smirk as the others snickered in agreement with him as Rainbow glared at him.
"Now get out of that thing and give me a hug!" Pinkie said with opened arms as Rainbow flew out of the pie and hugged Pinkie. "Just remember. In the future, you can always be honest with me."
Pinkie hugs Rainbow tightly, making her eyes pop out a bit.
"Uh, I could've told her that." Applejack said to Clay, Chase, Jade, Sunray, Trini, Antonio, Twilight, and Nyx bluntly.
"Well, as long as those two remain honest with each other, their friendship will maintain." Chase said as Twilight giggled in agreement.
"So true, honey." Twilight said to her husband as she kissed him on the cheek and they shared a loving nuzzle.
Rainbow strained from the grip Pinkie gave her.
"Heh. Cool." Rainbow said with a forced smile. "H-How about this? Your hugs are too tight."
Pinkie just laughed and patted Rainbow lightly as the cerulean mare looked a little annoyed.
"No, they're not." Pinkie said while smiling and hugging Rainbow, who sighed with a smile she sent to the pony.
