Act V (Part 1)
Kraven was preparing. He stares at the photo of his Calypso and remembers. Next to it a newspaper photo of Spider-Man clipped.
"The pieces have led to this, spider. It is now our final fight," Kraven said as his room went dark, but his eyes glowed showing cat-like slits in them.
Janice walked past his room, though something about Kraven made his presence seem off to her. She didn't know what it was, but it was a gut feeling in her stomach.
Kraven exited his room, saw her, and asked "Are the men ready?"
"Yes... um... I'm not so certain though we will win this fight against Spider-Man and Daredevil. They've interfered for a while now," Janice remarked.
"Do not underestimate me, I know what I'm doing." Kraven said proudly.
"Ok," Janice said as they walked by towards all the men gearing up and ready for action.
"It's time to play, men." Kraven smiled again, showing his widened teeth.
Peter walks around, having mixed feelings, and sees something in his sight. The Battle of New York Memorial site.
"I'm probably going to dislike doing this," peter said to himself.
He sees the names: Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Thor Odinson, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton. He guessed it's time to "talk." Whatever that means at least.
"Hey, guys... I'm the new guy... some of you know me, well, almost, but not really." Peter started.
"I wanted to tell you guys that whatever I do, whatever my life holds in store for me, that I'll never or could ever possibly live up to be an Avenger. I... I just don't see myself on the team anymore... Peter Parker is forgotten by the world, but Spider-Man lives on. And maybe all of you would come to me and say, 'It doesn't need to be that way'. But to me it does... and sooner or later... I just wouldn't know what to do anymore because my life is getting complex. This guy I'm fighting, Kraven. He reminds me so much of myself. Forgotten by the world and yet he lives on as this hunter persona for some reason. I must stop him, but even then, I can't be an Avenger. I'm just not good enough," Peter said as he walked by trying to meet up with someone he knows.
Peter met with Murdock at an undisclosed location, so it made discreet between them.
"Ok, so the Planetarium Party is coming up in a few hours, what do we do?" Peter asked.
"What we always do, Peter. We fight. We wait until Kraven strikes first and then we fight him, overpower him if we can and win." Murdock said confidently.
"That's not much of a plan," Peter commented.
"SHIELD will take care of any extra attacks, we fight Kraven, we find Riva and get Happy the culprit behind the framing of Stark Industries." Murdock stated.
"After all, you said he wasn't enhanced, however, what we don't know is what exactly will happen tonight, which is why I'm bringing my friends for a big stakeout at the party itself. I think you should do the same with your friends considering they work with you?" Murdock asks.
"That's a bit overkill, but sure. However, let's not put them in danger should be our priority," Peter said hoping no one else dies on his watch.
"Exactly, this life isn't easy, and our friends worry about us. But they can help us and in turn we help them." Murdock said.
"This plan will be divided into two parts. My friends will find out any suspicious activity, your friends assuming one of them knows how to use computers will try and locate as many men as possible Kraven has. We take them out one-by-one, sneaking around. If all else fails, when they strike SHIELD should be able to take care of them," Murdock said.
"Ok, I'll relay the plan to my friends," Peter said. Deep down he was hoping not to get them involved like this, however, it was going to be a huge matter regardless of if they didn't know what was going on. In the end, it's a lose-lose situation for Peter.
He texted MJ, Ned, and Betty about the plan for tonight. They all texted back in confirmation that they wanted in on it and were willing to do it with their friend.
Again, the urge to protect them held him in a pinch. However, he knew it was the right thing to do, to let them know what's going on. Then he remembered he actually needed a good suit for the party.
Quickly running home and entering his apartment, he turned on his laptop to see how well the spider tracer was doing. So far, Kraven hasn't made a move, yet.
Good, gives Peter enough time to prepare his suit (hero and the not hero one). He keeps looking in the mirror, wearing a nice suit like his Homecoming suit. Then, he's been reminded of her and Homecoming, he sighed.
"I really need to visit her grave with Happy," Peter said to himself.
His phone lighted up and he checked to see a lot of messages from Betty debating about what dress to wear with MJ in their group chat.
He put it away for now as he prepared his nice suit.
It was an hour before the Planetarium party. Peter went to pick up MJ, while Ned picked up Betty.
MJ wore a similar dress to the one she wore at Homecoming, but it was a black dress this time and her hair was straightened out with some curls at the end, and she wore black heels to match the dress. Betty just wore a nice pink dress with pink heels, and her hair was very nicely done as a ponytail.
They met in an area where they could get into the limousine that Ned's parents rented.
"Ok, normally, this would be our prom night, if they didn't cancel it at our school due to funding issues and other stuff, but regardless, I think we're good for tonight," Ned remarked.
"You realize we're here to help with Peter, right?" MJ pointed it out bluntly.
"Yeah, but look at the bright side, the SHIELD guys will handle it at the end, and we all live happily ever, after all this is done," Ned said happily.
The three of them just stared at Ned and he said back, "I'll just stop talking."
"Yeah, that'd be good." MJ said; she did not want her friend to make this anymore awkward.
It was a quiet drive, mostly due to Peter and his friends knowing that it was not going to end well. The limo stopped to where they needed to go and exited it.
They went inside the building, and it was gorgeous to see. Nice chandeliers on the ceiling, lots of paintings of people that contributed to New York, and so on.
They went into the elevator where the party was going to be on the top floor. As the elevator doors opened, they exited and saw a lot of people there including people from Midtown.
"Hey, guys!" A familiar figure called out to Betty, Ned, and MJ. It was Mr. Harrington.
"Mr. Harrington?" Ned asked in astonishment.
"Yes, it's me. How are you guys? How's life so far?" He asked smiling to see his students again.
"Uh, it's great. Gonna finish school soon," Ned said as the others looked weirdly not to talk to Mr. Harrinton right now, especially Peter.
Harrington nodded and then noticed Peter. "Oh, a new friend. And you are?"
"Peter Parker, sir." He let out his hand and shook it. Mr. Harrington nodded and then just awkwardly smiled.
"Well, if you guys should know some former Midtown students have come to this party. Ones that graduated during the Blip, especially our old Academic Decathlon team," Their teacher said as Peter's eyes widened.
Great, just great. He thought to himself.
He awkwardly left and as he did Cindy Moon ran to MJ to hug her tightly.
As did Sally Avril and Abe Brown. They reunited and talked for a bit, while Ned and Peter scurried their way out of that.
Ned told Peter he was going to get some food. As that happened, Peter tried to find Murdock. There were a lot of people, so it made it very hard to locate him.
He tried getting around, though it made him look like a jerk as he kept pushing his way through the crowd.
He bumped into someone, and he said, "Sorry."
"It's ok, I'm fine, son." The man said. He looked like someone familiar, and he was wearing a military outfit.
"Oh, oh, I'm so so-"
The military man raised his hand and said, "It's not a problem, son."
"I should watch where I'm going," Peter said.
"You probably should," The military man remarked.
"You are?" The man asked Peter as he introduced himself.
"Peter Parker, sir."
"Parker? As in the photographer of Spider-Man? Heard a lot about you." The man said. Peter was confused at first as to how this man knows him.
"Know me?" Peter asked.
"Apologies for not introducing myself. Colonial John Jameson," John introduced himself. "I assume you know my father, Jonah."
Peter had his eyes widened. This was Jameson's son.
"Oh, you... that's what this whole party is for!" He exclaimed.
"Yes," he chuckled at Peter's naivete.
"Oh, so, you're his son. Jameson has mentioned that you haven't talked to him in a long time," Peter said.
"Did he?" John asked, not sure what to tell Peter about their relationship.
"Yeah, he seemed saddened about your mo-"
"Mother's death. Yes, I know. He thinks... he thinks I don't talk to him because he thinks I think he caused his wife's death and that I blame him for it. The truth is I was just scared to talk to him for so long that I didn't know what to say to him. It's been so long since we talked," John said looking down at the floor in sadness.
Peter was surprised by such a revelation.
"Well, why don't you talk to him?" Peter suggested.
"I'm afraid that he won't talk to me because of his fear. I just wish he would understand me and how I truly feel about him," John said.
"You won't know until you find out, right. Jameson's my boss and he never opened up to his feelings. But I think by you starting to talk will help that," Peter added.
"You know what, son. You're right, I should do that." John said as he shook his hand.
"By the way, I know you're the photographer of Spider-Man, I actually happen to be a big fan of him." John said.
That astonished Peter so much that he didn't know what to say.
"Don't tell my dad I said that." John said chuckling a bit.
"Ok, I won't." Peter said smiling.
I'll end it there and the next part will come soon. I do apologize of how short it was, but it's so the next part doesn't ruin the flow of the story.
