Queen Aleena:*off-screen* My children still have many lessons to learn. But some lessons are so big, it takes a while world to discover them. Now Mobius is learning the greatest lesson of all.
(Ayla's POV)
*It's been a few hours since we got separated from Knuckles. Right now, we were driving through the canyon, with everything shaking like an earthquake*
Sonic: Whoa! We're really rockin' and rollin'!
Sonia: We've got to find Knuckles before Robotnik does!
Ayla: And fast!
*Sonic put the pedal to the metal & went faster. Bolts of Chaos Energy were behind us. We stopped at the stairs to Athair's cave & got out of the van*
Sonia: Knuckles!
Ayla: Where are you!?
*We didn't get an answer*
Manic: Yo, Echidna-dude! *a flash a green lightning was seen in the sky* Sleet must've bagged him.
Sonia: Knuckles wouldn't have surrendered without a fight. He could be hurt. Or worse . . .
*She started to cry. I put my arms around her*
Ayla: Don't worry, sis. Knuckles' tough. I'm sure he's okay.
Sonia: I hope you're right.
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, in another part of the canyon, Sleet took Knuckles straight to Robotnik*
Dr. Robotnik: We'll, what have we here? Knuckles the Echidna. Good work, Sleet. I didn't think you had it in you.
Knuckles: He doesn't. I'm here on my own. To make a deal.
Dr. Robotnik: I don't make deals! And even if I did, why would I make a deal with you?
Knuckles: To save your precious Robotnik Empire! I know how to contain the Chaos Emerald. If we join forces, we have a chance to stop this Chaos.
*Lightning flashed across the sky*
Dr. Robotnik: Hmm . . . I'm always open to saving myself. But if I'm going to help you, then you've got to help me. I want the hedgehogs.
Knuckles: You've got to be kidding! I'd never betray my friends!
Dr. Robotnik: Then I guess the destruction of Mobius will your fault. Too bad.
Knuckles: You don't mean that, Robotnik! You're bluffing!
*Robotnik laughed*
Dr. Robotnik: If I can't defeat Sonic, then I hope Mobius is destroyed!
*Beams of light hit the ground*
Sleet: He means it. He'll let Chaos destroy Mobius if you don't help us capture the hedgehogs.
*Knuckles looked defeated as he went up to Robotnik, who laughed*
Knuckles: If you do capture them, Sonic, Manic, Ayla . . . Sonia . . . Would you Roboticize them?
Dr. Robotnik: Roboticize them? *he paused for a moment* Of course not. I'd keep them prisoners so I could taunt them with my victory.
Knuckles: But . . . I . . . I can't betray my friends. But I can't let Mobius be destroyed . . . All right! I'll do it! For the good of Mobius.
*Tears spilled from his eyes*
Dr. Robotnik: I knew you'd make the right decision. Someday, all of Mobius will thank you. Well, almost all.
*He laughed again*
(Ayla's POV)
*We all sat on the steps leading to Athair's cave*
Sonia: If Knuckles is captured, we've got to rescue him.
Sonic: We've gotta save Mobius first or it won't matter. Know what I mean?
Manic: Yo, problem-o sibs. How do we contain a Chaos Emerald without Knuckles? He's got the canister.
Ayla: Maybe there's a way we can do all three at once.
*Suddenly, a ball of green energy came towards us*
Manic: Run for cover!
*We all ducked under the van. Everything shook & parts from the van fell off it. A wave of green energy passed over us & then it disappeared*
Sonic: Funny thing about Chaos, you can't predict it.
Ayla: Tell me about it.
Sonia: Knuckles! *we all looked where she was looking & saw Knuckles coming towards us, looking sad. she got out from under the van & ran towards him* We thought you a Buttnik prisoner! *he held up a hand to stop her* Oh, I thought we'd never see you again.
Knuckles: Well I . . . I managed to get away from Sleet.
Sonia: I . . . I'm glad you're back.
*I noticed her cheeks turning red. He held up the canister*
Knuckles: Sleet didn't get this.
Sonic: Great. Now all we need is to find the Emerald.
Knuckles: Well, I think I figured out where it is. But . . . I'm gonna need your help.
Sonic: Well, what are we waiting on? Let's jam.
Ayla: Hold on! *everyone turned to me* Okay, Knuckles, spit it out.
Knuckles: Spit what out?
Ayla: What are you hiding?
Knuckles: Wh - What do you mean!? I - I'm not hiding anything!
Ayla: Don't bother trying to fool me. I can tell when someone's hiding something. So talk. What's going on?
*Sonic & Manic gave him the same stern look I was. Sonia was giving him a worried look. Eventually, he caved*
Knuckles: All right. It's like this . . .
*He told us how Knuckles forced him into making a deal with him. He'll help save Mobius as long as Knuckles brings him us. He even promised that he wouldn't Roboticize us*
Ayla: And you actually believe that?
Knuckles: Well . . .
Ayla: Don't. I know the second Robotnik has us in his clutches, *I snapped my fingers* BAM! It's a one-way ticket into the Roboticizor!
Knuckles: R - Really?
Sonic: Oh yeah.
Manic: Totally.
Sonia: We've seen it before, Knuckles. That man would do anything to get rid of us and secure this right to the throne.
Knuckles: ARGH! I can't believe I could be so blind to trust him!
Ayla: Hey, don't go kicking yourself. We know you were just trying to save Mobius.
Knuckles: But
Ayla: Simple. We pull a fast one on Robotnik.
*We drove through the canyon, going to the location of the Chaos Emerald*
Manic: You know, Knuckles, Sonia was ready to give up Mobius to rescue you.
Sonia: I was not! You just keep your mind on finding that Emerald!
*Manic smirked at her whole Knuckles looked really sad*
Knuckles: Yeah Manic. Nothing's more important than saving Mobius. No matter what it takes. *we drove a little further* The Chaos Emerald is just on the other side of this canyon.
*Suddenly, I noticed two Swat-Bots & Robotnik standing on top of a cliff overhead*
Ayla: Manic! Twelve o'clock high!
*The Swat-Bots sprayed the road with what looked like glue*
Manic: I'm on it! *he drove the van on the side of the canyon wall, avoiding the glue. then we went back to the road & drive away. I could just imagine Robotnik burning with rage that his plan failed. just then, we saw two more Swat-Bots blocking our path* Hang on! The Manic-man stops for no bot!
*He drove the van straight into the Swat-Bots, destroying them*
Sonia: Manic!
*Lava was flowing down the path towards us. Manic stopped the van*
Sonic: The last Chaos wave must've set if off!
Manic: Better back it up or we're hedgehog stew!
Ayla: I don't think we can! Look!
*Swat-Bots & Sleet's scorpion vehicle was coming towards us*
Manic: Yo, we can't go backwards!
Knuckles: Follow me!
*He all jumped out of the van & dug a tunnel in the side of canyon wall. Manic drove the van up the wall, but the lava was still behind us until we reached the top. Sonic & I looked down to see the scorpion vehicle driving away from the lava, backwards, leaving behind the melting Swat-Bots*
Sonia: Quick thinking, Knuckles.
Sonic: Yeah. I really "dug" what you did.
*I rolled my eyes at that lame pun*
Manic: Good one, Sonic!
Knuckles: And that was a great plan, Ayla. I can't believe I almost fell for Robotnik's lies.
Ayla: Hey, don't beat yourself up over it.
Sonia: You were desperate to save Mobius. I might have done the same thing in your place.
Sonic: Hey. Are you forgetting something? We still gotta find the Emerald.
*We drove the van further to the end of the canyon*
Ayla: Hey. What's that?
*There a bright green glow up ahead*
Knuckles: That's gotta be the Emerald!
Sonic: Gimme the canister and I'll check it out.
Ayla: I'm coming with you.
*I got out my board & we zoomed towards the light. There we found Dingo trying to get close to what looked like a broken Chaos Emerald*
Sonic: Hi, guy. What's the prob?
Sleet:*off-screen* You are, hedgehog! *we looked up & saw Sleet coming in on a hoverboard with two Swat-Bots on hoverbikes**on-screen* But not for long. Get the Emerald!
*One of the Swat-Bots lowered it's bike to the ground & went to pick up the broken Emerald. Sleet landed his hoverboard next to Dingo*
Dingo: Uh . . Sleet. Heh, heh, heh . . . Am I glad to see you.
Sleet: You traitor! I'll deal with you later. But first we've got to get the Emerald safe.
*He pointed his remote at Dingo*
Dingo: Oh no! Not that, Sleet!
*He turned into a safe. The Swat-Bot put the Emerald inside*
Sleet: Keep your mouth, and your door, shut!
*The door closed*
Ayla: That safe may keep us out. But it won't keep the Chaos in.
*Sonic held up the canister*
Sonic: This canister is the only thing that'll contain the Emerald!
Sleet: Why should I believe you two?
Dingo: Uh . . . Sleet? *he turned towards Dingo & gasped* I don't feel so good.
*The Chaos Energy was rampaging inside him*
Sonic: Uh oh.
*Then Dingo seemed to explode from the inside out & turned into a giant orange blob monster. He came towards us*
Ayla: Quick, Sleet! Morph him into something!
*Sleet tried to use his remote on him, but it didn't seem to affect him*
Sleet: It's not working!
Sonic: Keep trying! We'll be back with help!
*I got my board back out as we zoomed back to the van*
Knuckles: Did you get the Emerald?
Sonic: I think we're gonna need a bigger canister.
Ayla: Maybe one the size of the Titanic!
Dingo:*off-screen* CHAOS! I WANT CHAOS!
*Monster-Dingo was coming towards us*
Manic: Dingo! Oh man, and I thought he was ugly before.
Sonia: Chaos definitely isn't his look.
*Monster-Dingo roared & fired a bean of energy a mountain, causing it to erupt like a volcano. His hands turned into hammers & he made more volcanoes erupt*
Knuckles: He'll tear the whole planet apart!
Ayla: Not if we stop him.
*Sonic handed him the canister & summoned his guitar. He him Monster-Dingo with a few lasers, but nothing happened. He tried to hit Sonic with his hammer-hands, but he dodged. Manic summoned his drums & caused an earthquake, but that didn't work either*
Monster-Dingo: YOU CALL THAT AN EARTHQUAKE!? *he stopped his foot & caused more shaking* THIS IS AN EARTHQUAKE!
*Suddenly, Manic's drums broke apart*
Manic: Whoa! Dude!
*Mountains crumbled & more volcanoes erupted*
Sonic: He's too strong!
*Monster-Dingo started walking towards Robotropolis. Just then, Sleet's scorpion vehicle came towards us. Robotnik was driving*
Ayla: Robotnik. Oh great. Just what we need.
*Robotnik came out*
Dr. Robotnik: Get the hedgehogs!
Knuckles: Wait! Dingo swallowed the Chaos Emerald!
Manic: He's turned into a monster!
Sonia: He'll spread chaos all over Mobius!
Dr. Robotnik: And your point is?
Ayla: He's heading straight for Robotropolis! He'll destroy the city if we don't stop him!
Dr. Robotnik: Ooh. I'm scared! As of Dingo could do anything right. Get them!
*The Swat-Bots came towards us. Just then, Sonic seemed to get an idea*
Sonic: But Dingo stole the Emerald from you. You gonna let him get away with that?
Ayla:*in her mind* Ah. Hurting his ego. Good plan.
Sonic: You're the man. The Buttnik. *Robotnik stomped up to him angrily* The Buttmister! You gonna let Dingo make a monkey out of you? You'll be the laughing stock of Mobius.
Ayla:*in her mind* I should think he'd be used to that by now.
Dr. Robotnik: Nobody steaks from Robotnik and gets away with it. I do all the stealing around here!
Sonic: That's the old Buttnik I know and don't love. *he went up to Robotnik* Now picture this. I gotta plan to put Dingo in his place.
*He whispered in Robotnik's ear. Robotnik smiled his evil smile*
Dr. Robotnik: I like it.
*We all got ahead of Dingo & me, Sonic, Sonia,.& Manic summoned our instruments. Then all played a song*

*Knuckles & Robotnik covered to their ears at the loud music. By the end of both our songs, Dingo looked dazed. Robotnik Then had his Swat-Bots fire their glue guns at his feet, trapping him*
Monster-Dingo: CAN'T WALK?
*Sonic & I then pushed Robotnik towards him*
Dr. Robotnik: W - What are you doing? *we stopped at Dingo's feet* What am I supposed to do now?
*Sonic & I stepped back a little*
Ayla: Just stay right where you are.
Dr. Robotnik: Why? *we zoomed away* Oh, wait!
Monster-Dingo: I'M FALLING!
*He landed on top of Robotnik & the broken Emerald came flying out of his mouth. Knuckles caught the pieces in the canister. Then there was a flash of green light that covered all of us. It was so bright, I covered my eyes. When I opened them, everything seemed to be back to normal*
Sonic: Nice catch.
Knuckles: Give the credit to the team.
Ayla: You know it.
*Just then, the dark green clouds overhead dispersed & we all could see a beautiful blue sky. Dingo then shrank until he was back to normal, still laying on top of Buttnik. He got up & Robotnik groaned*
Dingo: Uh oh. *he got free from the glue & tip-toed away. Only to bump into Sleet* Uh . . . Hi, Sleet.
*Robotnik came up to him from behind*
Dr. Robotnik: Dingo! I'm gonna Roboticize you. First for stealing the Chaos Emerald, again for letting Sonic escape, and a third time for flattening me! And then, no more Mister Nice Guy!
*We went back to Athair's cave & gave him the canister*
Knuckles: Athair, we've brought you the Chaos Emerald for safe-keeping.
Athair: The Emerald must be kept by you. On the Floating Island.
Sonia: But you'll be coming with us, won't you? To join the Resistance?
Athair: Knuckles' duty lies on the Floating Island. Just as your duty lies with the Resistance.
Ayla: And finding Mom.
*Knuckles took her hand*
Knuckles: But if you ever need a break from fighting Buttnik, there's always room on the Floating Island.
Sonia: And you're welcome to sit in with the band anytime.
*She kissed his cheek & I silently giggled. I had a feeling this was going to be the beginning of something beautiful*
