"MERLIN!" Merlin startles looking around widely before he sees his weekly guest walking up to him.

"Morgana," he says in greeting. "Must you scream?" he asks, a very unamused look on his face. She raises an eyebrow at him, which makes him feel like he did something wrong.

"I called your name several times, at a reasonable volume too, and you didn't answer me any of those times so I yelled at you in hopes of getting your attention."

"oh... sorry?"

"That sounded more like a question than an apology." she sounded very unimpressed. he sighs.

"I'm sorry, ok?" sounding only slightly more sincere. "it's just close to that day and it's been six years since it happened but you know, I'm immortal so it doesn't feel like any time has gone by but I... I don't know..." he trailed off, still kneeling in front of the strawberries he had been picking for dessert. Morgana crouches down beside him and lays a hand on his shoulder. "I just can't... he banished me nearly six years ago... right as I was about to tell him as well, I had it all planned out... I was kinda rushing to tell him because of the twins but still..."

Morgana stays beside him and listens to him rant. She had been beside him since a year into his banishment. she had already left Camelot by then, an enemy of her home but when they had bumped into each other, Merlin with a 4-week-old son and daughter and Morgana on her own after her sister left her, Merlin had helped her, built her a place near his, helped her control her powers in a tamed environment, and eventually told her his story. Now, five years later, she is the proud favourite aunt to one Balinor and one Igraine (we just ignore the fact she is their only aunt, shhh) and has amazing control over her powers.

"come on," she grabs his arm and heaves him up "let's go get the kids and have some tea," she says pulling him behind her to the cave he had expanded and shaped into a suitable house using his magic.

She had a place similar and not far from his, only an hour and a half walk unless you took the tunnel that ran between their places, that made it a short ten-minute walk, but they only used it for emergencies or they tried to at least.

An hour later, everyone is seated at one of the outside tables and enjoys a delicious homegrown breakfast of fruits and berries as well as some eggs from Morgana's chickens.

After eating, Balinor and Igraine ran off to play while Morgana and Merlin talked. They spent the day talking while in the garden or helping the twins feed and water the animals, they even went up to visit Kilgharrah and Aithusa who had their own set of caves just up the mountain.

After supper, Merlin and Morgana cleaned up while the kids ran off to have a few more minutes of playtime before bed. Merlin went to grab water for the dishes while Morgana grabbed the last of the dishes. It was while they were grabbing that stuff that they heard two identical screams of fear.

Within seconds they were in a small clearing that had a road running through it. On the other side of the clearing, the twins were huddled together against a row of bushes. In front of them stood the knights of Camelot.

Morgana's POV:

Morgana watched as a variety of emotions flickered across Merlin's face before he was marching toward them. He shoved his way through the knights, ignoring the yells, and walked up to his kids. Morgana watched as he crouched in front of her niece and nephew and a few seconds later they came running around the knights. She was almost knocked over when they came barreling into her legs.

"Papa said we are supposed to go back to the house with you and he'll be home once he's gotten rid of the nasty people," Igraine said, looking up at Morgana with tear-filled eyes.

"ok then, let's head home" Morgana responded grabbing their hands.

She looked up in hopes of catching Merlin's eyes. She catches many eyes but none are the ones she wants. Merlin is still facing the bushes, his back to everyone. The knights, however, are all looking at her or back and forth between Merlin and herself and the kids. Out of the corner of her eyes, she sees two more people enter the scene, and winces. She knew Arthur would be close by if his knights were here but had hoped she wouldn't have to see him. The person beside him, however, she hadn't expected to see. Beside Arthur stood the woman she had loved more than anything, and while she had people who had become more important to her in the last few years, she still loved the beauty beside Arthur. Morgana turned and started to walk away as quickly as she could without leaving her niece and nephew behind, in hopes that Gwen would not see her.
