Zoysite - Hi! Yea, it's insane! Price I looked up was for parts in America but still where I'm from the cheapest I can find it close to 25.000 euros which for purely the purchase is still far too much. There's still so many other costs! It shouldn't be that expensive!
He will ask Ace in 'our perfect family' haha, he'll get there! And yesss, he's so nervous-yoi. Te ticks be exposing him to his blind lover even hahaha. but today is a new chapter, a new chance for Marco to propose and succeed!... hopefully! Hope you will enjoy this chapter! Thank you once again for reading and commenting!
Wishfull-star - He did his very best! but... The question was harder to ask then the pineapple expected... and he didn't even have to worry about he presentation since ace can't see! yet he failed... Let's hope he can ask it today! Thank you very much! You stay safe and well too!
I have a picture of the game they're playing on my AO3 and Wattpad if anyone isn't sure of it, fanfiction sadly does not allow links or pictures inside stories.
And to be honest, i did not read over this again after writing it, sooooo i hope there's no weird grammar mistakes haha.
It was a few days later and again they had had a little celebration during the day, this time because exactly 3 years ago they had moved in together. Now they were sitting at the kitchen table playing Ludo. Each colour had 4 pawns and with your own you had to make a full tour around the board and to the middle.
How was Ace playing this you may wonder. Well, after trial and error Marco had found the perfect game... he had bought a wrong version but it turned out okay... It was a travel version, he had originally thought it was a mini and had planned to just paste little bumps on the spots on his own. Since it was for travelling, each little spot on the map where a pawn could stand had a groove for it. So once you placed it in, it didn't topple over when driving. And for the dice, they had their own little globe in the middle, you just had to press on top of it and just some aluminium plate or something would bend, pop back up, and in turn roll the dice without the problem of dice rolling away.
And... it was perfect for Ace! He could feel the whole board, carefully, and not knock anything over, he could feel all the steps, how far he was in his round and if he was winning -He did put bumps on some colours so ace knew which were his- and he could even spin his own dice, not worrying they would fall off the table! The only thing Marco had to do was tell Ace his throw, which he was honest in! And everything else Ace could play on his own, enjoy it the same way as everyone else did! It was a wonderful discovery and now Marco was always on the lookout for travel versions of different games that were made like this one, not the usual magnet ones since they were flat.
"Hah! Found you!"
He could snapped out of his thoughts by Ace's evil laughter as he was moving a pawn forward. Why was he- "Don't you dare! I'm two steps away from going to the middle!"
"Tooo late! NO MERCY!" With a cackle Ace ended his step, putting his pawn on Marco's for just a second before pulling Marco's out and rolling it to the other side of the table, "YOU'RE OUTTTT!"
Even if he smiled, he bonked his head on the table, making Ace laugh since he could guess what Marco did, and him reaching over to pat his head only confirmed.
"You'll get there Marco... You just have to throw 6 again. And then go around the whole board again. And then reach the middle. And you'll be fine!"
Marco grabbed Ace's hand quickly, licking the palm of the hand, making the raven squeal and fumble to get out until Marco let go.
"That's what you get-yoi. Bullying me like this." He sighed, as he rolled again, "5... your turn." He also voiced out his own number just by reflex since he did it for Ace too. "I was sooooo close! Four."
"I know! That's why I did it, can't let you win easily when you only had one left and I still need to get two in!" Ace chuckled as he took his steps.
"yea yea yea, 3... I'm never getting this pawn out of my starting area again... 6... and definitely not if you're throwing the sixes-yoi!"
"Whoopsies"
They both laughed at the other's antics, having fun just spending time together. These simple things they could do together meant so much to him and Marco was sure Ace felt the same.
About 20 minutes later Ace cheered, successfully getting putting his last pawn down in the middle, Marco just a few steps behind.
Smiling he got up, moving to Ace's side of the table and first putting a hand on his back before leaning down, pecking the already puckered awaiting lips. "Congratulations love-yoi. Bested me yet again."
Giggling Ace worked on putting the game away, "next time I'll let you win!"
"Oh, how kind of you." Marco laughed. Ace won most of the games they played somehow, he would think the raven cheated by how much odds are in his favor sometimes but he doesn't know how. "Now, what does the victor want?"
"hmmmm, Needs to be something special. Really really special!"
"Does it?"
"Yes! Something like... Cuddles!"
Melting Marco hugged Ace, a few complaints leaving him that he meant on the couch. "You're so adorable-yoi. Alright." he smiled pecking Ace's lips again, "Cuddles on the couch for the victor. Just let me put on some comfy clothing and I'll be with you."
After Ace nodded, Marco stepped away, going up the stairs to their bedroom to indeed put comfy clothing on, some soft ones that Ace likes a lot. But, he was also coming up to grab another item. The item he failed to properly give to Ace last time.
Pocketing it he went to the bathroom freshening up a tad before going down the stairs. This was it. This was the day. Actually the day. He was going to ask Ace to marry him, really ASK him! He did still want to go on a knee... his mind couldn't picture it without. Like... that was the basics right? He felt so stupid if he just stood before Ace like 'hey Ace, marry me.' without even kneeling! ... But it would be okay even if Ace didn't see him go down and gasp like in the movies. He would still voice out the question so Ace would know! Nothing can go wrong, nothing!
Getting down the steps he saw Brownie sleeping in his basket, good no dog cuddles in the way, otherwise he had to figure out how to unsuspiciously get Brownie aside for just a second. Instead on the couch he found Ace smiling in his directions, already visibly eagerly waiting for his cuddles.
Quietly he walked closer, taking the box out of his pocket as he drew near. The moment he got before Ace he kneeled down on one leg and opened the box simultaneously. A small fond look crossed his face as he saw Ace still looking up high because... why would he look down?
Not wanting him to look into nothingness for too long, he spoke softly, "Ace-yoi, I-".
Cloudy eyes instantly shot down to the floor, seeming to widen in panic. "Marco!? Did you trip? Did you fall? Why are you on the floor?!"
'Aw shi-', he saw Ace already wanting to scootch off the couch, but only didn't because he probably didn't want to well... sit on him by accident if he was on the floor. Which... never happened before... "Ace, I'm fine. I'-"
"Brownie! Check! Marco!"
"no-no-no-"
WOOOF!
The dog came running over as if he wasn't just, sniffing him all over, nuzzling him and pushing him to try and get him up off the floor to stand. All the while Ace was worriedly looking over, hands hovering uselessly before him, though inching closer carefully to help him.
Damnit, this was going all wrong again!
"Brownie, basket-yoi... Basket." After he repeated it the dog listened, running back to his spot but keeping a watchful eye as his owner still seemed a bit panicked.
"M-marco, are you-"
"I'm fine" he put the box behind him on the table and took Ace's hands that had been fractions away from touching him. Holding both the hands together in his own, "I am fine Ace. Trust me."
"But, you're on the floor. I- Why are you on the floor if you didn't trip?"
Squeezing the hands he gave a light kiss on top of Ace's, "I kneeled down on purpose. I promise I am fine. Do I sound to be in pain, Ace-yoi?"
"No..."
"Because I am not. I am okay."
"... You..." the panic slowly ebbed away and Ace's posture relaxed a bit more again on the couch, confusion however took over. "You... kneeled down? By yourself? Not... you didn't trip."
"Correct."
"... Why?"
Marco swallowed, this is how he'll get there. "Because I wanted to. I didn't think it would cause you panic or worry, I'm sorry but... I... it felt right to do it like this."
"Do... what?"
"Yoi... Ace... I... I've kneeled... on... on one knee."
"One knee?"
"Yes-yoi..." he swallowed again, so much spit forming yet his mouth felt dry! "My left knee is on the ground, while my right knee in... Well up and bended in I guess almost 90 degrees. And..." slowly he let go one hand to reach back, grabbing the now closed box and touched it to Ace's hands that automatically grabbed it. "I had this in my left hand. I had opened it already too, but... well closed it again now..."
Ace's mind was making somersaults, picturing everything Marco was describing to him, how he was sitting before him, now holding his hands and looking at him. People didn't just.. Kneel down for a lot randomly. And he wasn't wearing any shoes either so not like Marco was going to tie his laces or something. And... how he was kneeling was too specific and he would have just said so if he was tying his laces and be done with it. But Marco was nervous, send brownie away, hadn't gotten up throughout this whole small panic...
There was something coming to mind but... that couldn't be... Who would... who would..., he was a burden. A blind burden.
All words however left him when he took the small item pressed against his hand. Finger feeling over it, searching for things he can use to determine what it is. The item seemed to have tiny hairs covering it, some kind of fabric, soft thanks to the tiniest fur. Square, almost square with a seam in the middle, slicing it in two and... hinges. "a... box? A- a tiny box?" God, this wasn't? It couldn't be!
Marco had watched it all in silence, having placed a hand on Ace's knee so he knew he was still there as the raven inspected the box. From his face he was coming to some conclusions on what it could be, what was going on. At least no disgust had crossed yet... so... that was good right?
"You can open it-yoi." he had planned to give the ring himself but now in this moment this felt like the best way. Let Ace explore the item himself, discover it in one of the ways he can see the world.
He watched as Ace opened it carefully, fingers edging over the pillow inside until he felt the ring and the hand flinched back, only to feel it again, just to make sure it was really there. And... Ace gasped, he gasped like Marco always saw in the movies, now looking at him with big teary eyes. Maybe this was the way to go at it from the beginning.
"M-Mar-marco- T-this is- I-"
"It's-yoi, a ring... do you... I-" he was so nervous now! God, he needs to propose now! "I-it's engraved too." damni- brain! Don't chicken out! But the words were out before he could actually do it and now he watched Ace's trembling hand take the ring out of the box. He helped to take the small box from the raven's hands so he could focus on the ring, the raven unsure of where to put it.
"I... did it myself..." Marco started as he saw Ace fingers swiping over it, searching for the engraving. "I-yoi... did my best... it's ehm-yoi... it's two words..." He had especially looked for a shop where he could do this. Make an inscription on his own, a braille inscription. He couldn't read as fast as Ace could. Not even close. But he had learned a lot over the years and wanted to do it himself, even if he wasn't the best at it and... did have it written down next to him, copying it, he really didn't want to make a mistake on the ring. "Yoi- I hope... you can read-yoi it."
He wanted to panic seeing tears come to Ace's eyes but there was love behind it so he kept as calm as he could.
"I-I- I can-" Ace sniffed feeling over the dots again and again... ⠋⠕⠗⠑⠧⠑⠗, 'forever' that was the first word he was able to pick out. It had taken a moment, some dot's spacing not perfect or the dot itself not carved as deep as the other, making it less prominent than the rest, but he was able to make a word. A fitting existing word. The next one was ... ⠽⠕⠥⠗⠎, "Yours...F-forever yours?" He whispered looking down into hopefully Marco's eyes, even if he hadn't been blind, he was sure he wouldn't have been able to see the blond through his tears.
Marco nodded back, catching himself and answering instead. "Yes-yoi. Forever yours. I... I want to be forever yours, Ace-yoi. And I want you to be forever mine. I-" He carefully took Ace's hands again, putting them together with the ring in between them.
"I love you-yoi, Ace." He started earnestly, "My life has been so much brighter-yoi since I met you. I've learned to see the world differently thanks to you, experience it in more ways. I've found-yoi so much thanks to you, and I want to experience a lot more, experience what the world has to offer. And I want to do so with you."
"B-but- I- I can't- Normal things-"
"What is normal-yoi? I think we're living a normal live, no? We're-yoi a couple in love. We have our own house. We go to work. We practically have a kid I-"
Woof!
He chuckled, "see, a real child of our own in the house." he paused for a moment as Ace laughed too at Brownies perfect interruption, the dog always knows when you're speaking of him.
He then pulled Ace's hands closer, kissing them like before. "But, I know what you mean, Ace-yoi. And I am not disregarding it. I'm simply choosing to not let it push me away from you-yoi, why would I let it push me away? These have been the best years of my life even with it... You may think you're the one needing guidance... but these past years... you've guided me so much more. Shown me so many new things. Allowed me to experience new feelings. And never, never has it ever gotten in the way of your smile. That bright smile always there when you hear me. It has never gotten in the way of time I can spend together with you, cuddling on the couch, taking walks in the park, from out time in the bedroom."
"M-mar!"
"Sorry sorry-yoi." he chuckled seeing Ace grow a bit red. "But Ace-yoi. It's never taken away from you. It is you. It is part of you. It is what makes you my Ace. My Ace that I love with my whole being. My Ace who I want to wake up to every morning. My Ace that I want to spend every evening with, cuddling on the couch. Be it in good times, on happy days like today when we're celebrating. Or be it the bad ones, when one of us is a bit sick, or has an off day, I want to be there to help, to cuddle up and make it just that slightest bit better by simply being together. So... Ace-yoi..." he started, taking a few pauses, seeing Ace focusing on him so so much, so intense, waiting for the words he by now knew were coming. "Ace-yoi. Marry me. Please, marry me."
The small wait for an answer was agonizing, but soon Ace was nodding with vigour as tears fell and he sobbed out the words Marco had been waiting for. "y-yes- I-I do- I do-o! M-marco!"
Ace cried out his name, hands clutching around the ring, so hard he would probably have an indent of it in his hand but he didn't care. He could only focus on the feel of it, the warm big hands holding own smaller and trembling hands together. Focus on the gaze he could feel on him and the atmosphere blooming around them. "I w-want-want to mar-rrry you!", he almost yelled out as he let himself slip off the couch, still clinging to the ring for dear life as he found Marco before him and threw his arms around him, after making a solid connection to the man's ribcage and the blond's knee stabbing him in the stomach as he went down.
But both didn't care, Marco simply put his knee down carefully and enveloped Ace into the hug, just like Ace was doing to him, crying into his neck. He himself also had tears dropping now as he held the raven close. One hand on his back while the other rested on his head as he placed kisses not far from it on the soft hairs.
"I love you-yoi, I love you. Thank you. For accepting, thank you. I love you so much-yoi." They were engaged now! He did it, he asked, with success. Ace had said yes! The beautiful raven in his arms was his, forever his. "Forever mine."
A choking sob came out, "F-forever y-yours."
Marco whispered it back again, holding Ace closer until he remembered... He still had to put the ring on Ace's finger... A bit reluctantly he pulled back, taking a moment to wipe a thumb over Ace's cheeks when he could, wiping away tears that were quickly replaced by new ones. He glanced at Ace's hands, one balled into a tight fist.
"Ace-yoi." He gently touched the hand, "Can I... Can I put the ring on you?"
No words left the raven as he raised his hand, opening his palm to reveal the ring. Marco helped to steady Ace's hand so the ring wouldn't drop out from the trembles and took the ring between his fingers. "Thank you."
Seeing it was already Ace's left and he turned it over, showing him the back of his hand. With delicate care he slid the ring onto Ace's 4th finger, all the way to the base. I was just the tiniest bit too big, but this was better than it being too small, they could easily get this fixed, or maybe Ace even liked this better than it being too snug... they'll see.
Changing his grip to just hold the slender fingers, he leaned down, kissing on top of the ring. "Fiancé."
This word made Ace gasp again, "I- that's me."
"It is-yoi" Marco smiled, moving to hold the hand a bit better, rubbing over the ring while the other cradled Ace's cheek. "You're now my beautiful fiancé. And... after the wedding... You'll be my husband."
"Husband. You'll be my husband too."
"I will be," he whispered back to Ace, cloudy eyes becoming a bit more visible now the tears were drying up., "Just like I am now your own fiancé too-yoi."
A smile, a smile brighter than he had ever seen came onto the face before him. Reaching all the way up into those grey eyes, love shining out of them. And when hands reached for his own face, he happily let them do so. Let them move across his feature because leaning in when they lightly tugged, both of them closing the distance until their lips touched. And touched again, and again and again. Kisses, some shorter and some longer than other never seeming to stop until after an eternity Ace rested his head again hist forehead. A happy laugh leaving him.
"Forever-yoi."
"Forever yours."
