Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I am really happy and this inspired me to bring in the next chapter, and here the story picks up where the last chapter left, where an unexpected situation takes place, and this would put our main characters to the test…

Ch. 3: Karuteru no kakurega
The scene shifts at the unspecified hideout where the cartel is located, and there the limousine entered the driveway and the guards let the vehicle in after making sure that they were not being followed, and after confirming that no one else is following, the guards resumed their post and the limousine went and parked at the garage, where the cartel liaison led Midoriya and Tsutsumi inside what appeared to be a huge warehouse, and Midoriya was amazed that inside of the warehouse resemble that of a studio-type apartment unit.
Tsutsumi maintain her stoic expression and pretended to remain disillusioned as the cartel liaison led them to the office where the cartel leader is waiting, and there Midoriya saw who else is there, where the corrupt police officials are present, as two days ago Tsukauchi provided the pictures of the police officials suspected of aiding the cartel, and now Midoriya confirmed that the police officials who are here are the ones who are secretly working with the cartel.
The liaison then told the cartel leader that Midoriya and Tsutsumi agreed to work with the cartel, and agreed to work behind the scenes since it is risky for them to appear in the public eye due to Tsutsumi being wanted by the authorities and Midoriya might attract unwanted attention if he were to be seen by anyone, which the cartel leader nodded, seeing that this is better than exposing the new recruits.
"Really?"
"Yes, boss."
"So these two expressed willingness to adapt?"
"Indeed. They consented to our terms!"
"That sounds promising."
"And a very good one, boss."
"Very well. I accept."
"Good choice, boss."
However, one of the corrupt police officials expressed doubts about Midoriya, stating that he doesn't believe that Midoriya is willing to work, pointing out that he has seen the 16-year old boy having a HERO SYNDROME and thus Midoriya is probably FAKING IT, but the liaison defended Midoriya, pointing out that if Midoriya is staging this he wouldn't be out at night alone.
The cartel liaison also said that since Midoriya was expelled from UA Academy, to being disowned by his own mother and his provisional hero license revoked, Midoriya have nowhere else to go, and there the liaison said that Midoriya is willing to work and wanted to avoid being seen by anyone within the superhuman society and the pro heroes so as not to attract attention and suspicions.
"And you believe what that brat says?"
"Of course!"
"Are you an idiot?"
"No…but you are."
"What was that?"
"You heard me!"
"Do you realize that you're putting us all at risk just because of this brat?"
"You look here…!"
The cartel leader glanced at the new recruits and the liaison, thinking carefully, and consider what the liaison said just now, and while he is accepting towards Lady Nagant due to her PAST CRIMES, he is quite cautious towards Midoriya after the corrupt police official said about Midoriya's HERO SYNDROME, but after checking the RECORDS he somehow obtained, the cartel leader is convinced that Midoriya is really willing to work with the cartel.
He told the police official not to worry as Midoriya's image is already ruined, and that the younger boy expressed willingness to work here and stating that Midoriya wanted to avoid going public so as to protect the cartel, which the police official reluctantly obliges, as he trusts the judgment of the cartel leader.
"Relax now. It's okay."
"But…"
"You have nothing to fear or worry. This boy won't be a liability."
"But…you can't be…"
"I assure you. Our cartel is safe."
"But…"
"Trust me."
"But…"
After that, the cartel leader was summoned as NEW INVESTORS came and wished to do business with him, and the cartel leader nodded and told his second-in-command to take over for now, and as the cartel leader left, Midoriya was told that he and Nagant would be given a temporary place to rest and settle down while their roles within the cartel would be arranged, which Midoriya and Tsutsumi nodded, saying that they appreciate it and this pleased the cartel's second-in-command.
"…so…until everything is finalized…you two would be on standby…"
"Okay."
"Okay."
"For the time being you two should stay put and wait for our call."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"And be patient. Your time will come."
"Okay."
"Okay."
As the second-in-command turn around and went to give his subordinates some instructions, the corrupt police official confronted Midoriya and discreetly aired his piece, making it clear that he doesn't trust him and tells him to leave, saying that he despise brats and doesn't wholly believe that Midoriya is disgraced in the public eye yet he doesn't mind seeing him BEGGING IN THE STREETS.
The corrupt police official even said that he would be pleased to see Midoriya eating rotten food from a trash bag as he sees the 9th user of One For All as a garbage, and the corrupt police official made it clear that he doesn't like garbage barging his way in this cartel, though Midoriya just stood still and kept his cool.
"I really prefer that I see you beg on the streets…it'd suited you better…"
"…"
"And seeing you sleep on the alley would be a sight to behold."
"…"
"Because you're nothing but a trash."
"…"
"Aren't you going to say something, brat…?"
"…"
Seeing that Midoriya wasn't retaliating, the corrupt police official discreetly took out his gun and aimed it on Midoriya's stomach, threatening to shoot him if he doesn't voluntarily leave the cartel, yet Midoriya kept his cool but maintain a steel glare at him, but then Lady Nagant aimed her rifle at the corrupt police official's right side of his face and threatened to shoot him point blank if he doesn't stop harassing Midoriya.
"That's far enough, asshole."
"Wha…?"
"Better back off."
"Hey…"
"Leave the kid alone."
"Do you realize that this brat…"
"Who cares? If he is joining us, then all the better."
"Grr…"
By then the second-in-command came and saw the commotion, and tried to pacify the situation, and upon seeing that the corrupt police official pointing his gun on Midoriya's gut, Tsutsumi told the second-in-command what the corrupt police official is doing, and there the second-in-command reprimanded the corrupt police official for his actions, which the latter gritted his teeth as he is forced to relent and back off before leaving, while the second-in-command apologize to Midoriya for what happened.
"Sorry about that, kid…"
"…"
"He's just a bit jumpy…you know…"
"…"
"I'll see to it that it won't happen again…"
"…"
"I promise…"
"…"
After that, the second-in-command called for the chauffeur to escort Midoriya and Tsutsumi to one of the several safehouse so that the two new recruits would settle in and get some rest, and there the second-in-command tells the two to be on standby as they would be summoned anytime, which Midoriya and Tsutsumi nodded in acknowledgement.
"…so…for now you'll be heading to the safehouse…and get some rest. You two had a rather rough day…"
"Okay."
"Okay."
"For the time being you two should stay put and wait for our call. Oh, food…drinks…everything is there…feel free to dig in."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"And be patient. We'll let you know when work is ready."
"Okay."
"Okay."
After that, the chauffeur began to escort Midoriya and Tsutsumi towards the limousine to bring them to the safehouse, and a minute later, the corrupt police official was complaining about Midoriya, saying that he doesn't trust the younger boy as he is worried that he might be a spy of some sort, and even said that he has seen Midoriya having a HERO SYNDROME.
The cartel leader responded by saying that while that may be possible, the fact that he is alone and disgraced, along with the fact that he was expelled from UA Academy, disowned by his family and his hero license revoked, the younger boy is now desperate for money, which Midoriya said that he is willing to work on the condition that he avoid going out in public, those grounds are enough to prove that Midoriya is not a spy from the police.
"You need not worry. That boy would be an asset to us."
"But…"
"You need to calm down. Getting paranoid would only work against you."
"But…but…"
"That boy won't be a liability to us. I am sure of it."
"But…you can't…"
"Relax. Everything will be fine."
"But…"
By then the cartel's second-in-command came and berated the corrupt police official about his actions, saying that what the corrupt police official did would surely make Midoriya change his mind and might leave the cartel, saying that Midoriya would play an important role, yet the corrupt police official said that there is a possibility that Midoriya might be a spy and would put the cartel at risk of being exposed.
The second-in-command countered that if that is the case then cops and pro heroes would have swooped in by now, and the fact that Midoriya is with Lady Nagant, and overhearing about how disillusioned Midoriya is with the superhuman society, there is no way Midoriya would do something to expose the cartel.
The cartel leader stepped in and pacify the two men, saying that he prepared some contingency plans should what the corrupt police official say is true, but he also said that if Midoriya is a spy, he would have made a poor acting job, but as of the moment he sees that Midoriya is not, given his current record and being disowned and ostracized by society, it would be a big asset to the cartel if they treat Midoriya fairly.
"You need stop acting like a nervous wreck. There is nothing for you to worry. That boy would be an asset to us."
"But…what if he…"
"You need to calm down. Getting paranoid would only work against you. Midoriya won't sell us out. I am sure of that."
"But…but…what would happen if…"
"That boy won't be a liability to us. I will make sure of that."
"Are…are you sure…?"
"Yes. You have my word. Relax. Everything will be fine."
"…fine…"
As the second-in-command nodded in agreement, the corrupt police official reluctantly relented seeing that the cartel leader is cautious enough, and said that he will put his trust on the cartel leader for now, and as the three men are discussing about what to do next, the police official said that he would have his men keep an eye on Tsurugamae and Tsukauchi, reasoning that the two couldn't be corrupted through bribes, which the cartel leader nodded and said that the corrupt police official will be in charge in dealing with those two threats.
"So…can I leave the two officials to you…?"
"Okay."
"Do what you need to do."
"Okay."
"If possible…kill them discreetly."
"Okay."
"Got that?"
"Okay."
What the three men didn't realize is that Lady Nagant secretly placed a feather onto the pocket of the corrupt police official, in which the feather belonged to Hawks, as it acts as a listening device to listen and record the conversation despite being far away.

The scene shifts at another safehouse, where Hawks, Best Jeanist, Endeavor, and Tsukauchi are staying inside a room, and the four men managed to record the conversation, while expressing relief that Lady Nagant managed to keep the corrupt police official away from Midoriya, as that would have jeopardize the secret operation, and now the three top pro heroes and Tsukauchi were able to identify one of the police officials who is secretly aiding the cartel.
"Thank goodness for Lady Nagant."
"Yes. It would be difficult for Midoriya to maintain his cool after that corrupt official is trying to intimidate the boy."
"But that corrupt official is now eyeing Deku…and Nagant need to keep an eye out."
"Indeed. That corrupt cop is restless towards hero students like Midoriya…and he doesn't appeared to be convinced of the CURRENT RECORD we made on Midoriya."
"Well…at least Midoriya and Nagant made it through the first and second phase."
"Yes, and all we can do now is wait."
"And once we gather enough evidence, then we can strike."
"Indeed."
Endeavor then told Tsukauchi that he would have to pretend that he is unaware, and to make sure no one saw him speaking to either of the top three heroes to prevent leakage as they are still in the process of unmasking more police officials who are under the cartel's payroll, which Tsukauchi agreed.
"Tsukauchi. You need to maintain that façade at all times. We still need to identify more who are aiding the cartel."
"Okay."
"And pretend that you have no idea about anything so as to keep other corrupt cops off your trail."
"Okay."
"And discreetly observe your surroundings."
"Okay."
"Good. Then we'll have to maintain our current position."
"Okay."

Hope you liked this chapter, and while there's not much action other than an unexpected situation which Midoriya and Lady Nagant were forced to pretend to be disgraced individuals in order to fool the current antagonists…which an undercover mission is almost blown up as the corrupt official tried to harass Midoriya yet Nagant saved the younger boy and somewhat gain the trust of the cartel leader…
