I felt the scared and nervous aura as I stood, staring down at a map of the surrounding region. Latios and Latias were talking about the plan that they had, but it didn't sound like a plan, but was more of a pipe dream.
"So to summarize, we must reach the deeper chambers of the dungeon to get to the glyphs," Latios said while pointing down at the base of what looked like a mountain.
This is where we will find answers that will help us end this nightmare."
I could feel the concern come off Zeina as she looked down at the map and back at me.
I folded my arms and thought for a moment before answering them.
"How do you know that they are there? Is there any real confirmation that this will help us?" I asked, but could already feel the anger and frustration of Latios pulse from him as I pulled at the strings of his plan.
"We know it will work. What else could we try to stop the spread of the darkness?" Latias replied before her brother.
Her reply left a small pit in my stomach as I tried to think of anything that could work to save this world, but the darkness was spreading faster than if I tried to go to each individual Pokémon and take away their darkness. Could I even do it again?
I turned to look at Carter who was staring intently at the map, but his glazed eyes made it easy to tell that he was paying attention, but he was excited to be there. The cold darkness I felt returned. The whisper of the darkness reaching for me, crawled through my head, sending a chill down my spine. Would I survive long enough to make sure the darkness was out of every Pokémon?
I took in a deep breath and said, "Then we better leave as soon as possible."
"Yeah, let's beat this thing!" Carter yelled, but the rest of us couldn't join in his enthusiasm.
A knock at the door broke us from the meeting and a tired pikachu entered the hut. He tried to catch his breath as he scanned the through the room.
"Are you the ones in charge of this camp?" She asked.
"We are. What is the matter?" Latios answered.
"Uh, Sir we have more survivors coming in. With our reserves, we will need to find more food for us soon or we will go hungry." Spoke while limping forward.
"How long do we have left in our reserves?"
"2 weeks sir, unless we ration the food, we may make it to a month sir."
"We will need all of our strength for when we fight the darkness. We should leave soon." Zeina said while turning toward me.
I nodded and looked at the legendaries as they looked at me, awaiting my decision.
"We should leave for the ruins tomorrow morning. Tonight, we get a final rest to be ready to finally get some clear answers." I said with a strength in my chest, but when the strength and power left my body and I felt scared just watching them nod in response.
We split off from the hut and I began walking through the maze of tents. I didn't know where I was walking. I didn't know where I could go to get sleep. Walking past groups with Pokémon surrounding their fires, either sharing stories or being entranced by the dancing flames. Some broke their gazes with the fires but kept their far-off gaze.
I didn't need to feel the aura to know the feeling of the camps. Their empty stares only further added to the dark mood that was falling over the camp. With this dark feeling looming around, I continued walking through the camps and entered the tree line and found a large tree that towered over the rest of the trees.
I followed the trunk of the tree up through the branches of the trees and saw stars peeking through the leaves. I sat down against the tree trunk and kept staring at the sky. This was a better feeling than the camp, but the dark space between the stars reminded me of the dark space inside Carter. The wind picked up and whispered a sound through the leaves that were almost like the laugh of the dark shape.
I felt my fur stand on end as a chill ran through my spine. I could feel Scar scratching at the edge of my mind. "SSSssssssssssaaaaaaaaffffffffeeeeee" He said to me, but I still felt my heart begin to race even faster as I sat against the tree.
"I long for the day that I can have you again my dear."
I heard and felt my heart pounding against my chest. It felt like it was trying to run away, but my mind couldn't decide where to go. The talk of Latios and needing to go to the ruins rushed through my head, and Katrina's threat of wanting me dead with Lord Ferris's creepy cackling laugh. These noises distracted my mind too much to keep up with my racing heart. Air refused to enter my lungs and my lungs couldn't grab enough to keep up with my pounding heart. I tried grabbing my chest to calm my heart and felt Scar reach through my hand and grab my chest to try and comfort me with his strong clawed paw.
I heard steps from the camp approach and both Carter and Zeina walked up. Carter was holding a smile, but it quickly went away as he saw me breathing heavily and grabbing my chest. He rushed forward and began looking around for any danger, but Zeina just looked at me. She held up a paw to stop Carter and said, "Carter it's nothing like that."
She knelt down and began rubbing my shoulder. Carter watched as my chest began to slow down. Carter knelt down on the other side of me and sat next to me.
Hey Koro, we are here buddy. We won't go anywhere. You were there for me, so I won't leave you." He said as he stared into the forest.
I felt the heat of his shoulder rubbing against mine and slowly leaned against him. Zeina then leaned against me and continued rubbing my shoulder. We sat there in silence, and I did my best to just focus on the feeling of their heat and warmth. I didn't want to listen to the noise in my head. I just wanted to be here. In this moment. To have peace and calm again, but there was still a sadness in my heart.
The cold stare of Katrina's black eyes. It was emotionless, and her eyes were empty. I thought about having to fight her again, but this time I would have to free her from her darkness and hopefully in the right way.
