Chapter 23
Sonny whipped his phone across the room shattering it on the floor. "Dex, get in here now!" Sonny screamed.
Dex ran in to see what happened. "What is it boss?"
"We just lost a shipment. Find out who did this."
"Yes boss."
"I will be at my penthouse." Before Dex left, Sonny stopped him. "Oh and Dex, don't come back until you do."
The blonde man listened as Sonny gave his new right hand man orders. His entire office had been bugged for months.
"Corinthos, you never change," the man voiced out loud. "Always one step behind the enemy. Without Morgan you are toast."
He laughed a sinister laugh before crawling back into the underground tunnels that lead to Wyndemere. "You are going to pay for everything you have ever done wrong to my family, Corinthos. I can't wait to see your face." Then he laughed again before disappearing into the darkness.
Jason Morgan was one lucky man. He never thought he would ever get the chance to be a part of Elizabeth's life again. He thought that she was lost to him forever. Miracles do happen though. He was living proof. He really loved to watch her sleep. She was the love of his life, and he wasn't ever going to let her go again.
Elizabeth stirred in the bed, feeling Jason's eyes boring into her. She wasn't sure why, but she could always feel him.
"I feel you staring at me," Elizabeth said, without opening her eyes.
"How did you..."
Elizabeth's eyes fluttered open. "I just feel you Jason. I just know when you are watching me or close by."
Jason leaned down and pressed his lips softly against hers. "Good Morning beautiful."
"Mmm, I can get used to waking up like this." Elizabeth said with a huge smile on her face.
"Well I wanted to wake you up another way, but you looked so peaceful." Jason admitted.
"You can wake me any way you like Morgan."
"Well in that case..." Jason never finished his sentence as he started to attack Elizabeth with kisses all over her body.
"Jason," Elizabeth screamed. "Stop..." Elizabeth couldn't stop laughing.
Cam knocked on the door to his mom and Jason's room. He didn't want to disturb them, but he wanted to let them know what Joss told him, before they left for the day. He had to smile at the laughter he heard coming from inside. He was so thrilled to see his mom happy.
"Come on in," Elizabeth yelled.
Cam walked into the room, hoping he wasn't interrupting. Cam wasn't stupid. He knew what it was like to want someone so much, but this was his mom. He didn't want to think about that.
"I hope I am not.."
"No Cam, you are good. I am headed to Sonny's and Elizabeth is going to see my mom and Aunt Tracy," Jason said laughing, as he climbed out of bed. "Good luck with that." Jason leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips before heading to the bathroom to shower.
"I am really sorry mom.."
"Cam, honestly, Jason was telling the truth. We have a huge day ahead of us. So what's up?"
"Well, I wanted to tell you and Jason about what Joss told me last night."
"Tell, me and if I feel like Jason needs to know, I will fill him in. Come sit."
"Well after Joss got home last night, she called me like she always does, so I know that she is safe. She said that her mom was going ballistic. She said that Carly threatened to destroy you, and get Jason away from you."
Elizabeth tried to shrug off what Cam was saying, but Carly always did find a way to make Jason go running, and leaving her in the dust. She wouldn't put it past her to make something up, just to test that theory too.
"What are you thinking mom?"
"What? Oh, nothing. Just thinking about how many times Carly has come between me and Jason. It hurts, and even though I trust Jason, I am still worried. She always manages to find a way to ruin things."
Just then Jason came out of the bathroom. "You are not going to have to worry about Carly, Elizabeth. I told you, it's you and me against the world."
"Jason, what the..." Before she could say anything further, Jason kissed her, devouring her mouth.
Cam cleared his throat. "Son in the room."
Jason pulled back. "Sorry Cam, I just needed your mom to know she is number one. Now back to what you were saying about Carly. You don't have to worry about her Cam. Neither one of you do. She is no longer going to play her games with me. My eyes are wide open."
"I am glad Jason. I don't want to see my mom hurt. I am just looking out for her."
"I know you are Cam. As long as we all keep in mind that she is capable of just about anything, then we will be good. I promise you both, this family, all of you, you are my world. Carly will not win. I warned her. This...this is the last straw. She has an earful coming from me. I think I am going to make her house the first stop before I go and see Sonny. She needs to hear it again apparently."
"Jason, please be careful. She is sneaky. She will have you begging her for something before she is done with you. I don't trust her."
Jason pulled Elizabeth into his arms. "Oh baby, you don't need to be worried. I promise."
Just then Jason's phone rang. He looked down at his phone and back up at Elizabeth. "It's Sam."
"Well answer it. See what the psycho bitch wants." Once Elizabeth realized what she had said, she turned to her son. "Sorry Cam."
"Don't worry about it mom. I've heard worse coming from Spencer's mouth when talking about his lovely mother-in-law."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "I can only imagine." Elizabeth pointed towards the door. "Let's give Jason some privacy."
"I have to head to school anyway." Cam waved to Jason before exiting the door.
"I am going to shower in the other bathroom," Elizabeth told Jason before kissing him quickly. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Jason waited for them to leave, and then answered his phone with venom in his voice. "I don't know what you could possibly want, but say what you have to say."
"I will make it quick," Sam spat back.
"Go ahead. I am listening."
"Well, I wanted to say that I changed my mind."
"You mean Dante changed your mind?" Jason knew better than that.
"Well, actually yes. He said that hurting you would only be hurting Danny. As much as I hate you, I don't want my boy to suffer. So as far as I am concerned, you will be his father of record. I am not going to take Danny away from you."
"Good, cause you never would have won. I already had plans to take you down, but since you are extending the olive branch, I am going to take a page out of my lovely fiancée's book." Direct hit.
Sam hated hearing that, and she knew that Jason said it on purpose. She could practically see him smiling on the other end of the phone. The bastard. "Oh yeah? How so?"
"I am going to stop Diane from giving you the boot from my penthouse. You can keep it. The place is tainted anyway. I was going to give it to Spinelli, but I changed my mind."
"What are you talking about Jason?"
Jason ignored Sam and continued. "I am sure the sheriff will be there very soon to slap an eviction notice on your door."
"You can't be serious?" Sam was shocked. He really wasn't pulling any punches.
"Dead serious. I told you not to mess with me Sam. I am willing to work something out, but I am not going to bend to your will. I am in charge now. If you don't like that, then you will have 24 hours to exit the premises."
"You are despicable." Sam practically growled. "I don't know how you can live with yourself."
"Says the woman who tried to pass off another kid as mine. Oh and, as far as Danny is concerned, I will be having papers drawn up for visitation. You will abide by my wishes. If not, then I will see you in court."
Sam was furious. She hated that she had to concede to Jason. She wanted to tell him off. She wanted to tell him exactly where he could stick his requests. However, her love for Dante won out. It felt good to have a man love her unconditionally. Why would she want to be with someone that didn't give themselves to her completely. Not to mention Danny. He would be devastated. She knew she was making the right decision, but man she really hated losing to Elizabeth.
"Sam? Are you listening to me?"
"Yes Jason, I am listening. I was just trying to decide if getting revenge on you was more important than my new life with Dante, and it's not. So I will agree to whatever you ask."
"Good choice." Jason paused briefly. "Oh, and Sam? Trust me, if you chose wrong, the only person seeking revenge would be me. Remember who you are talking to. I may have changed, but I still know everything that Jason Morgan was trained to do. If I don't want them to find you, they won't."
Sam could feel a chill run down her spine at the obvious threat. She knew Jason well enough to know that he meant it this time. She picked the wrong man to con.
"Can I pick Danny up soon?"
"No, I am heading to Sonny's, so I will drop him off."
"Sonny's? Why are you going there? I thought you were out of the business? Elizabeth bore you to pieces already?" Sam laughed at her own joke. Maybe the honeymoon was over already.
"Not that it's any of your business, or that I have to answer to you, but I am asking him to be my best man." Another direct hit.
Sam felt the blood drain from her body. She hated that it still hurt. She did love Dante, but losing Jason probably would always hurt more than anything. "Oh," was all that Sam could muster.
Jason felt bad for less than a second, then remembered what she did to him. "Yeah, that's what you get for sticking your nose where it doesn't belong."
"Wow, you really can be a dick."
"Thanks, is there anything else?"
"No, I guess that's it. I will see you soon."
Jason disconnected the call and went back to the bathroom to finish his shower.
Elizabeth wanted to wait for Jason to finish with the call with Sam, but she had to leave. She was supposed to be meeting the Quartermaine's bright and early. Cam had already left to head to school.
She quickly wrote Jason a note, and stuck it to the fridge. She grabbed her coat and her coffee, and headed out the door. However, she ended up running directly into Carly Corinthos, who now had coffee dripping down the front of her white jacket.
"Seriously muffin? What the hell?"
"Well, I didn't expect to see you on the other side of my door. Excuse me for walking out of my own door." Elizabeth looked at the front of Carly's jacket and she started to laugh. "That's what you get."
"Are you seriously laughing at me?"
"Yes, I am seriously laughing at you."
"JASON," Carly yelled as loud as she could.
"What the hell Carly, lower your voice."
"JASON!" Carly ignored Elizabeth, pushing her to the side and barging in.
Jason ran down the stairs frantically, with a towel wrapped around his waist, dripping wet. "Elizabeth, are you okay?"
Carly's mouth dropped open wide as she drank in every inch of Jason's body. "Holy crap!"
Elizabeth yelled at Jason. "Will you go put some clothes on before Carly's eyes pop out of her head, and she has a heart attack."
Jason realized that he was in a towel. "Umm, yeah, sorry. I heard someone scream. I wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Yeah, that was the banshee over here yelling. She is here to talk to you I am guessing. Probably wants to stake her claim over you." Then she glanced at Carly. "Nice to look at huh? Too bad he will never be yours."
Elizabeth walked over to Jason and planted one on him. "Sorry Carlybabes, this one is all mine. "Then she grabbed his ass and squeezed. "You can't have him." Then she slapped his ass. "Go get clothes on so you can talk to the banshee. I have to go see your mother." Then Elizabeth turned on her heel, leaving Carly in an empty room to wait on Jason to return, fully clothed.
A few minutes later, Jason joined Carly in the living room.
"What do you want Carly?" Jason wasn't in the mood for her bullshit.
"Well hello to you too Jase."
"Carly..." Jason warned.
"Did you see what that bitch did to my jacket?"
"Carly..."
Why are you so grumpy? Shouldn't you be happier since you are finally getting laid again?"
"Carly..."
"What? She can't be satisfying you if you are this uptight. Why don't you let me..."
"I would stop voicing that thought if I were you before you find yourself out the door on your ass. Now say what you came to say, and go. I have to drop Danny off at Sam's, and then to see Sonny. Make it quick."
"She is not right for you Jason. Don't you see? We are perfect for each other. I get you."
"No Carly, I don't see and you most certainly do not get me. The only thing I see, is a desperate woman in front of me begging for scraps. You look pathetic begging. The only woman who gets me, is Elizabeth. You are wasting your breath if you think you are going to suddenly change my mind about Elizabeth. I love her, I am marrying her, and there is not a damn thing you can do about it."
Carly tried to wrap her arms around Jason's waist and he pushed her off. "What the fuck is wrong with you? Don't put your hands on me. Did I say Carly, please come hug me? Carly, please comfort me? No, I didn't. I am not your husband Carly. We were married for a brief moment, but that wasn't even legal. It's over and done with. I was doing what I had to do."
"No Jason. I know you felt it. I know you love me. You said that it has always been me."
"I was lying to myself. Trying to convince myself."
"You don't lie to me Jason. You always tell me the truth."
"No Carly, I don't. You may think you are number one in my life and in my heart, but you are not. I did what I did mostly for Sonny, never for you. You claim to be my best friend, but you've never once listened to what I want. You are always Carly being Carly, and it was excused away. Neither Sonny or me reigned you in and now look at you. You are out of control. You are so convinced that you are the end all be all, that you don't give a shit who you hurt."
"I don't know what you are talking about Jason. Who did I hurt?"
"Like you don't know who I am talking about, but we will play your game and I will tell you again. This time I hope you listen. I don't want to be with you. I do not love you in that way. You are my friend, and that is all you will ever be. You have no say in my life. I love Elizabeth. Not you. Elizabeth is off limits. I told you that. I also told you that if you did anything again that you would be history. Apparently you didn't take my warning seriously."
"Jason, what are you talking about? I haven't done anything to Saint Elizabeth."
"No, but you are planning on it. Joss told Cam what you said last night. Are you denying that you were telling Joss that you were going to warn me away from Elizabeth?"
"Wow, ratted out by my own kid."
"Well, I am glad to see you aren't denying it."
"No, I am not denying it. I hate her. I don't see why you have to be with Princess Purity. What happened to Sam? Or Britt? They are far better for you than little miss goody two shoes."
"Wow, you really need a psych evaluation. There's something not right upstairs. How is it that you think you know better than me? That I don't know what I want, or who I want? Do you think I am an idiot Carly?"
"No, but when it comes to Elizabeth, you really don't think with the right head."
I can't listen to you anymore. Get out of my house. Just go."
Carly just stared at Jason, the shock evident on her face.
"I said GET OUT...NOW!"
Carly stumbled across the room, falling to her knees before running to the door. The venom in Jason's voice scared the shit out of her.
Jason was pissed. This was the last time Carly was going to interfere in his life. He didn't care that she was scared. That was the only thing she understood. "I don't want to ever see you back at this house again."
"Jason please," Carly begged.
"No, you had your last chance. I warned you what would happen. Now I am through with you for good. Now leave."
Jason pushed Carly out the door, and slammed it in her face, leaving a crying Carly on the other side of the door.
Carly dropped to her knees in devastation. "No Jason. You can't do this. You love me! I know you do."
Jason just shook his head in disgust and headed upstairs to get Danny ready to take back to Sam's.
On the other side of the door, Carly was vowing revenge. "You will pay for this Elizabeth. Mark my word. You will pay."
Meanwhile, over at the Quartermaine mansion, Elizabeth had just arrived a few minutes earlier and the arguments had already begun. Monica and Tracy were already arguing about the decorations.
"What do you mean you want twinkle lights? What the hell are twinkle lights anyway?" Tracy asked, with disgust in her voice.
"How do you not know what twinkle lights are? Do you live under a bridge or a rock? I mean you are sort of troll like."
"Monica, if you don't shut your..."
"Alice," Monica yelled.
"Yes Miss Monica."
"Can you get her out of here before she chases Elizabeth away with her complaining?"
"Yes ma'am. Right away ma'am."
When Alice approached Tracy, Tracy took off down the hall running. "You are not getting your hands on me again, you whacko."
"I will get you Miss Tracy. Don't make me tie you down again. We know what happened the last time."
"Get away from me you crazy Dominator."
Elizabeth couldn't help it, she was full on belly laughing by this point. Then Monica saw Elizabeth laughing, and she broke out in a fit of laughter as well.
"Did...did you see the look on Tracy's face? Classic." Elizabeth wiped the tears from her eyes. "What exactly did Alice do to Tracy to make her so scared?"
"Well it was a long time ago, and I don't remember the specifics, but we did have her tied up."
"Oh my, that is great. Anyone who can put Tracy in her place, is my hero." Elizabeth laughed again. "Oh, and Monica, I love the twinkle light idea. We can have them as the backdrop, and it will look like snow falling. Maybe we can find some snowflake shaped twinkle lights?"
"Oh, I like that idea. I am sure we can find something."
Monica jotted down something in her notepad. "What about the venue?"
"Well since Jason is asking Sonny to be his best man, and Sonny is with Nina, I was thinking it would be easy getting the Metro Court. I am so thankful Carly isn't running it any longer."
"You and me both. She would jump at the chance to plan Jason's wedding if she could."
"More like talk him out of it." Elizabeth paused for a moment before continuing. She hoped she wasn't overstepping, but she had to know. "So, umm, how did you feel about Jason marrying Carly? If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't mind at all. You of all people know how I feel about Carly. She has been the bane of my existence for years. She helped keep my son away from me and the family. Her and Sonny were a huge part of the problem. I won't even mention what she did to AJ. I don't like Sonny much either, but at least he is civil. Carly doesn't know the meaning. So I wasn't thrilled, but Jason is my son and I would do anything for him."
"I know you would Monica. I know how much you lost out on, and how much you love Jason. That's why I wanted to include you in the wedding. I wanted you to feel a part of something. I know you can't actually be in it, but you helping us is such a huge help."
Monica was blown away by what Elizabeth was saying. She had been so cruel to her in the past, yet here she was, offering her an olive branch. Heck, it was more than an olive branch, it was the whole tree. "Thank you Elizabeth. You have no idea what this means to me." Then Monica had a great idea. "Actually, wait here. I have something for you."
Monica left the room and came back a few minutes later. "I made the mistake of giving Sam Alan's ring for their wedding. I really regret doing that, considering the way things turned out. I never really cared for Sam, but she was my way in to see Jason. So I gave her a peace offering in the ring. So I can't give you that, but I have this for you."
Monica placed the ring box in her hand. Elizabeth just stared at the box for a moment before opening it. She couldn't believe Monica was giving her a ring to give to Jason. She was touched that she was willing to do this for her. She still felt horrible for keeping the truth about Jake from her, but was glad she was forgiven.
"Go ahead, open it."
When Elizabeth opened the box, she couldn't believe her eyes. It was gorgeous.
"Lila gave it to Edward for their 50th anniversary. Since gold is the gift for 50 years, she gifted him this ring. It is Black Titanium and White Gold. Edward was too macho for a girly ring. So Lila got him this. It's very sleek."
"Yes, it is. I love it. It's gorgeous." Elizabeth held the ring to her heart. "Thank you for this Monica. It means the world to me."
"I know it does Dear. I know how much you love my son. I also know how much he loves you. I think he always has. He just didn't think he was good enough for you."
"See that is where Jason is wrong. I was never good enough for him. That's why I always ran back to Lucky. Lucky was safe. He was familiar. Jason scared me. Not because of his job, but because he had the ability to destroy my heart. So I always ran and ended up hurting him. I wasn't trying to play games. I have always loved your son, Monica. We just never seemed to get our timing right."
"Until now." Monica corrected Elizabeth.
"Right. Until now."
"What do you say we go and save Tracy. I am sure she has learned her lesson by now."
"I say we let her squirm a little longer."
"I like the way you think Elizabeth. Let's go have cook make us some breakfast."
"Sounds like a plan."
After dropping Danny off, Jason headed across the hall to Sonny's. It was still the morning, and Jason was already exhausted from dealing with Carly and Sam. He was thankful that Dante was the one that answered the door when he dropped Danny off. He wasn't sure he could deal with Sam twice in one day.
Jason nodded to Sonny's doorman, and headed inside. He didn't need to tell him who he was. When Jason got inside, he was greeted with a set of dimples. "Hey Jason. Glad you could make it. I am just finishing up with breakfast. Would you like to join me?"
"No thank you. Just coffee is fine."
"Some things never change." Sonny chuckled.
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
"So what brings you by?"
"Well, Elizabeth and I are getting married." Jason told Sonny, unable to keep the smile off of his face.
"Wow, not wasting any time huh?"
"Nope. I am not letting her get away from me this time. This time it's for keeps."
"You have always been a little in love with Elizabeth most of your life. Even when you were with others. I never gave her a chance, and I am sorry about that."
"Everything is in the past Sonny. We can't make up for what we did in the past, but we can better ourselves going forward. With that being said, even though we are no longer business partners, I would still like you to be in my life. In our lives. So would you be my best man at my wedding to the love of my life?"
Sonny was blown away by the request. They hadn't been that close since he returned, and the whole Carly situation. This was his chance to make things right with his brother. No they weren't blood related, but Jason was his brother in every sense of the word. This was a huge gesture on Jason's part, and Sonny was not going to blow this opportunity.
"Wow Jason, I am beyond honored that you asked me. I didn't think we'd ever get back here. I know things have been rough between us because of Carly. I know you would never betray me on purpose. I know it's hypocritical of me to even say anything since I did the same to you."
Jason couldn't hear this again. "Sonny, please. I don't want to talk about Carly. Ever again actually. It's not because it hurts me to talk about her. I just pushed her out of my life for good this time. I refuse to allow her to destroy my relationship with Elizabeth this time. You know that is what would eventually happen. I give her an inch, and she takes a mile. So we are good. Just don't ever mention her name to me again."
"Oh wow. What did she do this time?"
"She told Joss of all people that she was going to pretty much do whatever she could to get Elizabeth away from me. Well I shut that down. I warned her before this, that she would regret it if she went after her. So she was warned, and she did it anyway. So we are done."
"She is not going to accept that. You know how Carly is."
"Tough shit. She will accept it. The old Jason would have allowed it. This one, won't take her bullshit."
"Good. I am glad you are finally taking what you want."
"So you will be my best man?"
"Yes, it would be my honor and privilege."
Over on Cassadine island, Nikolas was about to lose it. He hadn't slept in days and the incessant pounding at the door was not doing anything to help his headache. He was about to feel a whole lot worse too.
When Nikolas opened the door, he was ready to yell at whoever it was that was disturbing him. Then when he got a look at who was on the other side, he froze.
"Oh my God, Em? Is that you?"
"Hi Nikolas. Long time no see. You know Zander right?"
"Umm, yeah. What are you doing with him? Aren't you supposed to be dead?"
"Funny you should ask. Zander is my husband."
"Your husband? Wait I am confused. You got shot by the cops. You are dead. Although I don't know why I am surprised. Nobody ever stays dead around here."
Zander chuckled. "Emily is just messing with you. I am Aaron, Zander's brother. It's nice to meet you."
"But you're..you're Zander." Nik's head hurt even more now. He really needed to find that aspirin.
"Can we come in?" Rebecca asked sweetly, hating how saccharine her voice sounded while pretending to be Emily.
"Yes, sorry. I am just in a bit of a shock right now. I haven't seen you in 15 years. It's going to take me a minute."
While Nik was trying to catch his breathe after seeing his greatest love, in walked another woman that was giving him trouble.
"What the hell is going on in here?"
