To say that Amity thought the school was the coolest thing in the entire world... would be an understatement. She looked around the school, seeing actual magic. Sure she saw Luz make her book fly into her hand, but that was literally all the magic she'd seen. Here, she's seen people command plants, summon ghosts from a crystal ball, even some people riding griffins!
"This place is awesome!" Amity said.
Luz put hands on her shoulders and moved her over to a bunch of lockers.
"Amity, I want to introduce you to Willow and Agustus." Luz said, "These two have been my friends since I was a little kid."
"Hi, it's nice to meet you." Willow said, extending a hand for Amity to shake.
Amity did shake it, noticing Willow had a firm grip.
"I take it you work out." Amity said.
"Well, you need to be strong when you are in the Plant Track." Willow said, "I've had to wrestle some unruly plants in the past."
Willow was practically shoved out of the way by the shorter kid, who was wearing a uniform with cyan colored sleeves.
"I don't believe it, a human!" He said, "I'm Agustus, and this is the best thing to happen since I met the Empress at the sleepover we had with Luz!"
"Yeah, and that sleepover we had as kids, is the reason we no longer are allowed to have sleepovers at the castle." Luz said, "Also, be cool, Agustus, we don't need to freak Amity out."
"Agustus, huh?" Amity said, "I knew an Agustus in the Human Realm, we called him Gus."
"Gus? A human nickname!?" Gus said, so excited that he fainted.
Willow caught him and let out a sigh.
"Same thing happened when we met the Empress." Willow mumbled, "I'll take him to a Healer, see you in class Luz, nice meeting you Amity."
"Bye, Willow." Luz said, waving at her, "So, those are my best friends, I have other friends, but they've been my friends since I was a little kid. They also don't try and kiss my ass just because I'm the princess like a lot of people do."
"People do that often?" Amity asked.
"Like you wouldn't believe." Luz said, "Some days I just want to have a normal family, I want to have a normal life, and I just want to read Azura in peace!"
"Wait, you like Azura!?" Amity asked, getting really close to Luz.
Luz leaned back and was confused.
"Uh... yeah?"
Amity let out a squeal, that got the attention of some other students.
"I can't believe I found another Azura fan!" Amity said, "What did you think of book five?"
"There's a book five!?" Luz said, "Why did no one tell me that!?"
As the two of them were talking, the hooded figure let out a breath and became visible again. He grabbed the fire alarm and pulled it, before placing another invisibility glyph on himself. The alarm went off and students headed for the exit, and the man quickly headed for Amity.
"Oh, sounds like the fire alarm." Luz said, "Nothing too bad, probably just an accident in the potions room. Come on, Amity, let's get out of here."
Luz grabbed Amity's hand and began to pull her to the exit. They were hit by something in the back and knocked to the ground.
"Well, that was very easy."
The man grabbed Amity by the arm and began to pull her away from Luz.
"Let's get you away from that disgusting creature." The man said.
"L-l-let go of me!" Amity yelled.
A brief image popped into Amity's head, where her mom would grab her by the wrist, leaving bruises and digging her nails into her skin. Amity's breathing began to get rapid and it felt like her heart was about to explode out of her chest, to the point that she felt chest pain. Amity felt her palms begin to sweat and her vision became blurry.
"L-l-let go! Let go! LET GO!" Amity yelled, trying to slap the person off her.
This didn't work, as the person turned and slapped Amity. Amity fell to the ground and sat up against the lockers, looking up at this person. She was shaking and struggling to breathe normally. The person was talking, but she was so out of it she didn't even hear him. Her vision was so fuzzy that she almost missed the person getting hit by some kind of purple goo... almost.
