A/N #1: Loved getting the feedback for the last chapter so I'll get started on my thank yous for that! TORONTOSUN (You're right, they do like being on cases. And I'm so happy you liked how the chapter ended since I wanted it to be interesting!) and

Mb (I had to laugh when I saw your 'second' review. I was pretty confused but then when I read it I realized why I had the second half first. And it's an honest mistake, so I'm glad you got a laugh that you needed. I appreciated it too! I was glad seeing that you thought the first half was a nice update. And not surprised at all you mentioned how the kids were apprehensive about Castle and Beckett going to work and you'll see why they were feeling that I promise. You're welcome for sharing the first half of the chapter! And yeah I thought you would mention they're still searching for a break in the case and a motive for this one too. With Julia I wasn't surprised at you questioning if her grandmothers were trying to protect and or warn her, along with mentioning her having a bad feeling and trying to get in touch with her parents and then Brad. With what happens to Castle and Beckett at the end, I had to laugh at your reaction to the cliffhanger but I wanted it to be suspenseful. And though you read out of order I do have your resolution to that with this chapter! You're welcome for sharing the second half of the chapter!).

Thanks for the reviews, love reading them and I am grateful for the time taken to write them out and send them my way!

A/N #2: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song I'm Only Sleeping by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, from The Beatles album Revolver.

"Where the hell are they? I told them to wait," Brad commented once he'd parked next to Castle's car.

"Maybe they're in those cabins," Darnley said, seeing the structures both had their doors open.

"They know better than that," Brad responded as he was getting out of the car at the same time as the carpenter. "Especially Castle," he said.

"Well…" Darnley started to say before he looked around the marsh. "I hope they're there," he suddenly said.

"You think something's wrong?" Brad asked him.

"Yes," Darnley said in a rush. "You're right they know better than to disobey you. Especially Kate, she wouldn't have gone further than the front or back of their car. Unless something happened."

"What're you thinking?" Brad said with a slight frown at the carpenter's dismayed tone.

"That they're not here," Darnley answered. "They were kidnapped."

Pausing for a moment, Brad eventually breathed out and told him, "I thought the same thing. Come on." Getting his gun from its holster, he led the way to the two cabins before he looked at Darnley who was holding his own weapon. Stepping up to the first cabin he announced himself but got no response, going up to the doorway he said, "Nothing."

"I'll go to the other," Darnley replied, hurrying to it before the chief could respond. "Nobody," he said once he'd looked inside. "Not even a piece of furniture."

"Yeah, this used to be a preserve and rangers would come to check on the fish and water," Brad answered. He then walked inside the cabin before he got his flashlight and shone it around until he was looking up. "Darnley," he called.

"Yeah," the carpenter said, stepping inside and seeing what he was looking at. "Someone was here at some point," Darnley commented, watching the chief reach up to the beam above them where there was some torn fabric.

"But when that was…" Brad said before he trailed off in obvious annoyance.

"What do you want to do?" Darnley said when the chief turned to him before he was getting his phone. While he listened to Brad trying to call Castle's phone, he stepped onto the porch of the cabin and paused before he called to him, hearing the chief responding while he walked up to him.

"What is it?" Brad asked.

"I'm wondering about walking around the marsh," Darnley told him. "To see if there's anything; any sign of them."

"It's about all we have," Brad said grimly. "Come back to the squad car with me," he told the carpenter before they were walking to the parking lot. While he was talking with the station he watched Darnley walking around the Castle's car, peering inside. When he'd finished his call he asked, "Anything?"

"No," Darnley said in annoyance. "Radio?" he asked in surprise when he turned to the chief and saw two in his hands.

"We're going separate; it's a wide pond," Brad replied. "And I don't want you yelling to me just in case."

"Got it," Darnley said with a nod before he took the other side of the marsh. Walking along the grass he looked back and forth closely at everything, though he was finding it was only blades of grass. He was soon stopping when he reached the parking lot on the other side and turned to Brad before he paused.

"What is it?" the chief asked, seeing the carpenter was kneeling.

"Kate's backup," Darnley told him. "Call the station and tell them they've been kidnapped."

Looking around the entry of the middle school building, Eliza's eyes went wide when she realized she had no idea where her big sister would be at that time of the day. She frowned for a moment, thinking of what class Julia was going to have third when she heard a familiar voice calling to her.

"Lizzy, what are you doing here?" Julia asked, rushing to her sister.

"Why aren't you in your class?" Eliza said in response.

Shaking her head Julia said, "Never mind, you have to be in class. You could get into a lot of trouble for this."

"No, I'll run back, and no one will find me," Eliza replied swiftly.

"Don't run," Julia said. She glanced down the hall and said, "I'm taking you back right now. I just hope we don't get caught by a proctor."

"Why are you outside though?" Eliza asked.

"Mamó told me I should ask to use the restroom," Julia said wryly as they stepped up to the door leading to the outside. She looked around the quad to make sure no one was there and said, "Now why you?"

"Grandmama was there in the classroom with me," Eliza explained while they left the building. "Something is wrong."

Frowning Julia told her, "I knew it but I'm sure Dad just bumped his knee or something."

"Julia," Eliza said angrily, stopping when her sister did. She didn't notice her sister's surprise while she was telling her, "You're lying to me, I'm not a baby anymore. Something is wrong with Mommy and Daddy, isn't it?"

"I'm not sure," Julia said with a sigh. "I think there is, but I can't find out what's going on."

Eliza was going to speak, but they had reached the elementary school building and she had to whisper, "I'll go by myself."

"Did you really sneak out?" Julia asked.

"No, I went to the bathroom like you," Eliza replied.

"Then you should go," Julia said firmly. She wasn't surprised when her little sister hugged her tightly and told her, "And don't worry, Mom and Dad aren't alone, Patrick and Brad will watch out for them." She watched her sister nod before she began to walk to her classroom before she paused. "Lizzy," she hissed when the little girl was rushing back to her.

"No, Josa will be okay right? Who's gonna watch out for her?" Eliza asked.

Realizing her sister was right, Julia shook her head and said, "Gram and Grandpapa are with her. Go." She wasn't surprised when Eliza rushed to the hall her class was in and once she was sure she was back inside she went to the doors outside. Checking again for a proctor or adult, she hurried across the quad before she was inside the building. She had managed to slip her phone into her pocket before leaving her class and as she checked it, she tried not to become too disappointed when she saw no message from anyone. Pocketing it she made her way back to her classroom, trying to focus on French since they were talking in only that language for the day.

"Oh, Josie please stop crying," Martha said, gently bouncing the baby. She turned to Jim and said, "I don't know if that will help."

"You don't want some juice? I got your favorite, apple," Beckett's father said, trying his best to tempt the baby. When she pushed away the sippy cup, he held he looked at Martha and said, "We're going to the station."

"I just hope they won't be upset we're not calling first," Castle's mother said while she was following him out of the family room. She was about to tell Josie they were going to see her parents when Jim stopped her and was speaking to the baby gently.

"We're going to see your mom and dad right now, okay?" he told her. Kissing her cheek Jim then said, "But you need to stop crying, they'll be scared seeing you doing that so much."

"Want Mama," Josie said, beginning to calm down.

"Right now," Martha promised her, kissing her other cheek. She followed Jim to the garage, after they'd told the dogs following them to stay, and she got the toddler set in her car seat. She sat in the back with her while Beckett's father was driving, making sure Josie wasn't crying again before they reached the station, and she heard the slight inhale of breath from the front seat. Looking outside she saw squad cars were leaving from the parking lot behind the building, and she hurried to turn her attention to Josie.

"Let me go inside first," Jim said after he'd parked in the front. He saw Martha's nod and then got out, closing the door carefully before he walked as fast as he could into the lobby. "What's going on?" he asked the officer, Hall he reminded himself.

"Sir?" he said in surprise.

"We brought my granddaughter to see her parents," Jim said, trying to tell himself the cars leaving had nothing to do with his daughter and son in law.

"I… excuse me for a moment," Hall replied before he was leaving the desk in a rush.

Jim went to the window, leaning against the shelf there before he heard the door behind him opening. "You-" he started to say.

"She was becoming upset again," Martha said firmly. "Where is everyone?" she asked, seeing the desk was empty.

"Mr. Beckett, Ms. Rodgers?" Rice asked, walking up to the desk. "Will you come inside please?"

"What happened to our children?" Jim asked before either of them moved.

"Chief Davis told me to tell you they've been kidnapped," Rice said hesitatingly.

"But-" Martha started to say before Rice was interrupting her.

"Please," the officer told them.

Being led through the bullpen, Jim looked back at Josie to see the toddler was looking around almost wildly. Inside the breakroom he asked Rice, "Tell us what's going on."

"We're not entirely sure where they are right now," Rice said. "And that's all I know to be honest."

Though she wanted to speak angrily to the officer, Martha did her best to calm herself before she said, "Was everyone leaving to find our kids?"

"Yeah, yeah they were," Rice said, nodding. "I'll keep in touch with the chief and let you know as soon as I hear anything." He hesitated for a moment and said, "He said you should probably head home."

"We won't," Jim told the officer firmly. After Rice had left, he looked at Martha and said, "Again."

"I thought the same," Castle's mother replied with a sigh. She looked at Josie who was looking out of the room and said, "I should put her down."

"I'll close the door," Jim said, moving to it.

"No!" Josie cried.

"Honey you need to stay here with us," Jim told her.

"I stay," Josie said firmly.

"As long as you stay with us kiddo," Martha said, glancing at Jim. When he shrugged, she set the toddler down before they watched her stand next to the table. "I… well I think she's serious," she said.

"It looks like it," Jim said. "Do you want some coffee?"

Nodding, Martha sat at the table before she tried to draw Josie to her before the toddler went to the door. "Josie!" she said in surprise.

"I stay," the toddler said firmly before she was in the doorway and holding onto it.

"Hopefully she's serious," Martha said though she soon frowned when she saw Josie was staring out into the bullpen, hoping her son and daughter in law would return safely and soon.

"Here comes the substation," Brad said, seeing the squad cars approaching. "Though there's something I'm still wondering about."

"I thought you were having it tracked," Darnley said.

"I am," Brad replied. "But if I hadn't heard anything yet then it's not on." He rubbed at the back of his head before he turned his attention the officers that were walking up to him. "Two of my consultants are missing; likely kidnapped. Are there any security cameras here at the marsh?"

"There are," the female officer there said. "We use it at the station when the rangers let us know there are trespassers."

"There are still rangers?" Brad asked in surprise.

"There's a species of frog here now," another officer answered. "So, they're trying to protect it and I think talking about bringing back fish."

"Is there a way for them to send footage from the last half hour to forty-five minutes to me?" Brad asked. When the officers left them, he turned to Darnley and said, "Hopefully they're on."

"Where are they?" Danley asked simply.

"I'll ask then they come back, but they said cameras," Brad replied before he was pacing back and forth. He nearly jumped when his phone rang, and he answered it swiftly after seeing it was Rice. "You have something," he said as his greeting.

"No, their parents and daughter are here," Rice answered.

"All three?" Brad asked, seeing Darnley turning to him. When his officer answered in the affirmative, he said, "Okay, I'm assuming you told them what I said in case they arrived after you let them know?"

"That's the thing Chief, they came before I got the chance to," Rice explained. "I told them they could go home, and we'd call them but-"

"Yeah, that wasn't going to happen," Brad said. "Alright, try and keep things down… the door to the breakroom?"

"It's open sir… and I'm looking at Josie right now," Rice said. "She's watching us."

Cursing under his breath, Brad said, "Okay. I guess just keep things down like I said and let them know we'll find them as soon as possible." He felt his phone shaking and looking at the screen said, "I have another call. Call me if you get anything." He hung up before going to the next call, feeling his stomach clench since he recognized it was Officer Fox at the safehouse. "Tell me everything's fine," he said before she was responding.

"Everyone's okay sir," the officer said swiftly. "But I heard your APB on a white Neon. There's one that appeared here last night, and we had a note under the door."

"What does it say?" Brad asked in concern.

"There's a bomb in the car," Fox replied.

Hearing the chief cursing for a second time, Darnley's eyes widened slightly when he soon told Fox to call in the bomb squad before he looked back at the Castles' car and muttered before Brad's phone rang a second time, "Where the hell are you?"
