Sunni sat beside the pro hero on a high rooftop. The night was peaceful and calm, the city lights in full swing as people moved about. It was slightly chilly, so Sunni wore her signature black coat. She pulled her mask off of her face and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. This was surprisingly nice. Hawks watched her, "You good?"
She smiled and nodded, "It's nice up here. Don't you think?"
He nodded, "I prefer up high."
"That makes sense," she watched the people below them, "I enjoy people watching too. It's interesting to see how they live day to day." She pointed to a man carrying flowers, "Like him. I bet he made his wife angry," she chuckled, earning a smile from the pro.
"I can see why he likes you so much."
Her blue orbs blinked and looked at him, "Pardon?"
"Dynamite."
"Oh," she cleared her throat.
Hawks laughed, "Touchy subject?"
"It's not that," Sunni thought, not sure how to explain it, "It's new I guess."
"You two make it look easy," his eyes cut back and watched the people, "But I will say I was impressed today watching you."
"I really appreciate that." She sighed, "Sometimes I worry if I'm doing the right thing."
"I felt that way too..." he twisted his mouth, "You and I are a lot alike."
"Are we," she watched him carefully.
He nodded, "My parents...it was a similar situation," he looked at her, "It is possible for us."
She swallowed hard, trying to suppress the emotions she felt, "You're proof of that."
He laid a hand on her head, "You will be too."
The rest of patrol was quiet as she learned about the winged hero. Awkwardly he loved chicken, especially fried nuggets. Hated light sodas, and liked American rock music. Sunni had eventually confided her actual identity, making him fanboy of course. She promised to get him a signed record before their next patrol. All in all, he was really a nice guy, you just had to know how to take his sarcasm.
She made it back to UA around ten, luckily she had brought a shower bag for after their practice today. She dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie before making her way back to the dorms. A smile rested on her face to see Bakugo waiting patiently in the kitchen. "I figured you would be studying," she leaned on the island.
"I tried to," his red orbs bore into her, "I couldn't concentrate."
She walked around the counter up to him, "Then let's go study." She lightly tugged the sleeve of his T-shirt. He quietly followed her to his room.
They sat quietly beside one another for a while studying before he decided to speak, "Did he behave?"
She nodded, reading over her notes, "He did. It was quiet." She looked at him with a small smile, "He's excited about your venture after graduation."
He scoffed, "I'm sure he is...for whatever reason."
Her head leaned on his shoulder as her eyes went back to her paper, "A lot of us are rooting for you."
"Ugh my brain hurts," Mina sighed and laid back on Sunni's legs, closing her eyes. "I better have passed with how much studying I did."
Sunni smiled at her friend, "Mina I'm sure you did just fine."
The two girls sat out in the sun under an orange leafed tree. It was chilly, but the sun made the day warm if you sat in its rays. They had been testing all day for midterms.
Mina opened an eye, "You know we've been friends for almost four months now."
"Is that so," Sunni leaned back on the tree, "It doesn't feel like I've been here this long."
"We should do something fun when we hit six, like a girls weekend."
"Oooh, that would be fun. I wonder if dingus one and two would let us off our leashes long enough," she chuckled and closed her blue eyes.
Mina giggled and watched her friend for a few minutes before yawning and looking out at the other students, "It's crazy to think that this chapter is going to end soon."
"Does it make you sad?"
She thought for a moment, "It's hard explain. Our class has been through so much together. To think I won't see some of them every day is strange."
Sunni looked down at her, "It makes sense, but, maybe some will be at the same agency as you."
The pink girl nodded with a smile, "I hope so." She snuggled against the red head, "I want to go where you go."
"I haven't given it any thought to be honest."
"You two look like a couple of glorified lawn ornaments."
Mina smirked, "You mean sexy lawn ornaments."
Sunni chuckled and turned to see Katsuki and Kirishima suited up for their patrols tonight. She liked his winter attire. It suited him well. Things had been going well between them, currently. He seemed to be relaxing more with the whole idea. They stuck to their agreement in taking things as they came, with no expectations.
"The cutest lawn ornaments," Kirishima winked, earning an eye roll from the blond.
"We just wanted to enjoy the sunshine after being inside all day," Sunni stood and dusted herself off. "Who are you two with tonight?"
Bakugo sighed, "Jeanist."
She grinned, "He's not that bad."
He studied her, like he now often found himself doing. Soaking up everything he could. Why did she have to be so annoyingly pretty? She walked up to him, casually untwisting a strap on his uniform, "Do you ever check these things?"
"Nope," he watched her quietly.
She sighed with a smile, "You're a mess." She glanced up at him, "Take a picture."
"Would if I could," he smirked when her cheeks flushed. It was his new favorite game: making her blush. So far they were tied, and she was not a fan.
She poked his side, "Don't start that."
His red eyes gave her an amused glare, "Don't wait up, we've got the practical in the morning."
"I'll do as I please," she stubbornly replied, "besides, what if they call me to come save your ass?"
He scoffed, "Yeah right. My scoreboard says differently." His phone beeped and he sighed, knowing it was Jeanist.
She smiled as her blue orbs looked up at him, "Be safe."
"Always."
Mina wrapped an arm around Sunni's shoulder and sighed, watching the two boys go, "Well, what's for dinner?"
The red head thought for a moment, "Want me to make pizza?"
The two young heroes stood watching as the police stuffed the villains into their cars. They had run into an arms deal, and of course had to intervene. Luckily it wasn't late into the night yet, so they were still allowed to patrol a while longer.
"What are you doing for break," Kirishima smirked when one of their captives hit his head on the car door.
"Going home," the blond looked at him, "why?"
The red head shrugged, "I wasn't sure is all."
He thought for a moment, deciding if he should share his information or not, "Sunni is coming with me."
Kirishima blinked, "Oh?"
"Yeah, mom asked her to," his red eyes watched as Jeanist gave his statement. "I still don't know how I feel about it."
"I think you'll have a good time." He ran a hand through his hair, "Sunni hasn't seen a lot of Japan. We've been in classes and on patrol."
He hadn't thought about that. All she did was school, train, patrol, and finish tying up loose ends with Tobias. She'd never even mentioned going places for fun. Kirishima grinned, seeing Bakugo's wheels turning. Mina had already mentioned Sunni was going to Bakugo's house, but, he wanted to prod his friend. Jeanist nodded for the two boys once he was done. Kirishima turned to him as they started walking, "We should all get together one day and do something fun."
It was after ten when they got back. The boys had taken extra clothing with them to change in to. They tiredly walked into the kitchen to see a note:
Sunni made American pizza!
-Mina
"Yes, I'm starving," Kirishima opened the fridge and grinned.
Sunni had made a traditional cheese and pepperoni pizza with tomato sauce. It was ridiculously delicious. The two boys ate all of the remaining before heading their separate ways.
He opened her bedroom door to see her sleeping soundly. He walked over to her and ran a hand through her soft curls. Her eyes blinked open, her voice was soft, "How was it?"
"We busted some thugs. Other than that, it was quiet," he leaned down and kissed her head, "Thank you."
She rolled on her back and looked at him, "For what?"
"The pizza. I was tired of hearing stupid hair whine."
"You're welcome," she smirked, "Can't have you slacking off tomorrow."
He scoffed, "You're delusional. Go back to bed."
She nodded and ruffled his hair, watching as he headed towards her door, "Sleep well."
