The sound coming from the ceiling turned out to be a dab of black ink leaking. The odor was enough for Mickey to sense trouble. After further smelling, Mickey came to the conclusion what the smell was coming from.
"Ink-Chovies!" whispered Mickey into Lara's ear.
"What?" asked Lara.
"INK-CHOVIES!" roared Mickey.
The ink puddles spat out various 1930's style cartoon anchovies who began charging towards Mickey and Lara. Thankfully Lara wasted no time trying to reason with the black and white sea toons.
"Can we show a little decency and form a neat group in front of a lady?" she asked.
However, the ink-chovies didn't heed Lara's advice and continued attacking the mouse and the archeologist.
Meanwhile, in the villains' hideout, M. Bison and another one of Mickey Mouse's enemies, the Mad Doctor, were writing some potential schemes, when Pete and Uncle Harry ran into the room, wailing in pain.
"We need a new approach!" said the Mad Doctor.
"I think you're right!" replied Pete.
Back at the Inkwell Wasteland, Mickey and Lara were under attack by the ink-chovies, who by this point, have multiplied to an impossible amount. Lara tried shooting them with her pistol, but the bullets had no effect on the ink creatures. Mickey, left with no other choice, applied thinner to his trusty paintbrush, used it on the ink-chovies, taking them down row by row. As soon as they were finished, another problem arose. A large and hideous creature with scales as dark as a smudge of ink, arms so long they can touch the Empire State Building with ease, gloves so white you can tell where he is in dark areas, and tentacles as smooth as a picture frame.
"Stand back, you old rat," said Lara, "I'll take care of this!"
"Won't do any good, Miss Croft." replied Mickey, "I've seen this before! That monster is thirsty!"
"Be more specific, you common house pest!" said Lara.
"When those tentacles enter your front door," responded Mickey, "it's a real rage party if he wants to get inside your whole house!"
"YOU'VE SEEN ALL OF THIS BEFORE?!" asked Lara in shock.
"11 times to be exact," added Mickey, "5 times, watching Anime on a business trip to Japan in the 90's, the other 6, reading manga on a train to New York."
In Liverpool, England, X received a notification via his wrist screen. He was stunned to find 2 pieces of fanart of him, one where he was drawn in the style reminiscent of Max Fleischer, and the other, a pairing sketch of him and Chun Li. Confused, X decided to forget he ever saw them, only to receive another notification, this time, Ryu was calling X about a strange occurrence.
"X," asked Ryu, "What is going on out here?"
"Nothing!" replied X, "Things are under control."
"Well something's wrong with my Holo-Pad!" shouted Ryu, "I've been trying to contact you, but all I get is an image of Chun Li hugging Oswald from behind, and why is Cammy drawn kissing him on the cheek in that same picture?"
"Oh god!" replied X.
Back in the Inkwell Wasteland, Lara and Mickey were now in a fix, as the ink tentacle monster gazed at the two. Lara tried using her weapons on the cephalopod, with no success. Desperate, she asked Mickey for assistants. The mouse happily obliged and gave her a paint gun, but when it came time to load up the ammunition, Lara accidently added the blue paint instead of the green thinner. Once Lara shot the paint, the monster reformed, causing it to feel sorry for the two and ran off back to the ocean, crying.
"Well, at least he isn't bothering us anymore!" said Mickey, but this is nothing compared to my vision!"
"What vision?" asked Lara.
"It's about the villains," answered Mickey, "there is smoke, fire, and a boat load of ink!"
"We don't have time for those stupid bloody fantasies," said Lara, "We have to get out of this black and white nightmare!"
Meanwhile, in the Goofy-verse, the Chipmunks were nearly finished with repairing X's airship.
"So Simon, what do you say we go somewhere fun?" asked Alvin.
"Do not rope me into one of your hair brain schemes, Alvin!" protested Simon.
"I promise you, I won't," replied Alvin, 'I'll take you to a place where you can express yourself!"
