Chapter Fourteen
Eric walked down the hallway quickly. The sound of whispered voices caught his attention as he listened by the closed door.
"You know it's just like Sook to get her ass taken twice during a goddamn apocalypse." Lafayette huffed with annoyance.
"Listen my sister is out there and I won't sit back doing nothing," Jason interjected.
Tara spoke as they looked at her. "We need to do what it takes to bring her back."
Jessica added. "We need a distraction."
"What if we set the place on fire? That would cause a commotion and give us a chance to slip in unnoticed." Jason added.
"Or it's just going to piss them off more." Sam sighed. "The place is overrun with vampires."
"Maybe if you had a spell or something?" Jessica looked at Lafayette.
"Oh, hell no, I'm not doing any more spells for you bitches." He stepped back.
"Wait, a spell would be really great right about now." Tara walked up to him.
"No. I care about Sook's accident-prone ass as much as y'alls but no. I am done messing with that shit."
"My sister has always been in your corner since we were kids. If you can help her then do something." Jason pleaded to him.
"Fuck! This is not how I planned to spend my apocalypse!" Lafayette paced the room.
"Is there a spell that could help us save her?" Tara walked over to him but before he could answer, Eric walked in.
"You know I am quite curious about that answer myself." Eric closed the door.
"You have done enough fanger. If it wasn't for you..." Jason began to yell as Eric got in front of him within seconds.
"If it wasn't for me, your sister would be dead!" Eric hissed at him. "You all claim to care about Sookie so much yet when she went missing the first time not one of you did anything about it." He looked at Lafayette. "Especially you."
"Don't come near me," Lafayette warned.
"Let's all just calm down, ok. We all want to save Sookie." Sam interrupted as they looked at him. "I can't believe I am going to say this, but we need to put aside our differences and work together."
"Work with you?" Eric laughed bitterly. "I will take my chances on my own." He turned as Alcide came into the room.
"I agree with Sam. We need to stick together to get Sookie." He then looked at Eric. "Sookie is all that matters. Let's figure out a plan to get her back."
"I know what you are trying to do, wolf. Think you will just swoop in and be the hero Sookie needs." Eric glared at him.
"For god sake people!" Pam walked into the room. "It is always save Sookie. You all really need to get a hobby." She walked over to Eric. "Can we talk?"
"I'm all in to do whatever it takes to get Sookie back." Alcide walked over to Tara.
"Eric?" Pam huffed loudly.
"Fine. Tell me your plan." Eric looked at Alcide and bit his tongue.
"You all are crazy if you think I am going to get further involved in this." Lafayette walked towards the door, but Eric got there first and held it shut. "Listen motha fucker..."
"I have always liked you. You have a charisma that is addicting." Eric smiled wickedly at him. "Help me get Sookie and I will owe you. It's not an offer that I give often."
"As enticing as that offer is, no thanks." Lafayette pushed past him and grabbed the door handle.
"You don't want to make an enemy out of me," Eric warned.
"Ok can we just figure out a way to get my sister!" Jason cut in. They all looked at him.
Lafayette moved away from the door quickly. "Listen I barely know what I am doing. I'm not experienced in this enough." He looked at everyone.
"But I am. And we are willing to help." Jesus walked in the room with James in tow.
"Let's do this. Sookie would do anything to save us if the shoe was on the other foot." James looked at them all.
"There is a binding spell that could trap Warlow and Lilith in those bodies." Jesus walked over to Lafayette. "Once we bind them then we can send both of them back to hell once and for all."
"And how exactly do you plan on getting rid of them?" Lafayette sighed. "Listen this binding spell could work but once we bind them then we're left with trying to kill them. If any of you motha fuckers haven't noticed, they are practically gods."
"And even gods could be killed." James walked over to him. "I know we can do this."
"I'm in." Tara walked over.
"Me too." Jessica followed.
"You got me." Sam stepped forward.
"You know I'm in." Jason added.
"How do we do this?" Eric finally spoke.
"Oh, fuck me. I guess I am in too." Pam huffed. "I need a drink." She walked across the room and grabbed an old True Blood from the mini-fridge. She looked at it and sighed. "After we save Sookie, again, can we figure out a better living situation?"
Meanwhile, Sookie paced the small cell. She needed to figure out her next move. She wouldn't allow her friends and family to get killed because of her.
"You look to be deep in thought." Bill came into the room, and she swallowed hard. "Warlow told me that you are giving him a hard time."
"Why are you doing this?" Her voice was just above a whisper.
"You know we're not the enemy here as much as you like to paint us as the villain." He walked over to the cell door. It opened and Sookie backed up in fear. "You have no idea what it is like to live for thousands of years and to watch humans tear this world apart." He smiled. "And yet we are the monsters."
"Forcing the world into an apocalypse is not good for anyone." She continued to back up.
"That was exactly what this world needed. A true cleansing of the weak." He got in front of her as her back hit the cell wall.
"Why use his body? He doesn't deserve this." Sookie's eyes filled with tears.
"This feeling you still carry for Bill will get you killed." He smiled. "I could show you my true form, though you may like this one better." He grinned as his body morphed into something that resembled a demon and she gasped in fear. She closed her eyes and by the time she opened them, Bill stood before her once more. "We are very much alike Sookie." He touched her long blonde hair. "I do not wish to hurt you. Believe it or not, I admire your courage. I think if we met on different terms then you may have actually liked me."
"I would never like someone like you." Her voice shook.
"Bill loved you so much." Lilith smiled. "I can see why."
"Just let me go, please. It doesn't have to be this way." Tears filled her eyes.
"I could give you the life you always dreamed of. The family you always wanted. Imagine the children you and Warlow could bring into this world. Beautiful and strong. No one would ever hurt them as your uncle hurt you." Sookie blinked in shock. Lilith knew things about her. "I have all of Bill's memories. I know what happened to you Sookie." He smiled. "Admit it, you were happy when you knew that Bill ended your uncle's sorry life."
"You're not any better than my uncle for forcing me to do this."
"You always have such a flair for the dramatic." He stepped back. "If it makes you feel any better, I could sweeten the deal." He stepped back as Eric came into view and she gasped.
"Sookie." He rushed over to her.
"Eric?" Her voice cracked with emotion.
"I'm right here baby. Everything is going to be fine." He smiled and then he morphed back into Warlow as she stumbled back.
"What the hell!" She couldn't believe her eyes. For a moment she really thought it was Eric.
"Let's not be rude." Warlow rolled his eyes. "I can be whoever you want, Sookie. Whatever will get my seed into you faster."
"I will never sleep with you!" She backed up more.
"We should give her some time to ponder her options." Bill looked at Warlow and they both went to the door.
Warlow turned and smiled. "Sweet dreams darling."
Eric stood guard at the door as Lafayette and Jesus worked on the spell.
"I really can't believe we are doing this." Pam leaned against the wall as she stood next to him. "Let's just go. The two of us. We can go to Madrid or Paris."
"I am not leaving her, Pam."
She huffed loudly. "Can we hurry this up before Russell catches wind of what we are doing?"
"Well maybe if you keep your motha fucking voice down." Lafayette glared at her, and she rolled her eyes.
"You were a lot funnier when we weren't on the verge of dying." Pam walked across the room.
"You really should hurry up though. We only have a few hours before sunup." Eric added.
Lafayette went to say something, but Jesus spoke first. "We all just really need to stay calm. Positive energy helps."
"Fine. I'm going to step outside." Eric left the room. He felt anxious and worried for the first time in his life. He wasn't worried about himself but about Sookie. He would gladly die if it meant she would be fine. It scared him how much he loved her. He had felt that way since...
"Nora?" His eyes got wide as he watched her walk over with a few other vampires. She was dressed like she had been to battle.
"Holy shit! The rumors were true!" She ran over to him and before he could respond she was jumping onto him. Her legs wrapped around his waist as her mouth collided with his.
He got lost in the kiss until a throat was clearing in the background. Their mouths pulled apart as Pam stood there.
"Oh. You're still here." Nora rolled her eyes as she hopped off Eric. "I would say that the end of the world looks good on you, but I would be lying."
Pam rolled her eyes and ignored Nora as she looked at Eric. "They are ready for us."
"What's going on?" Nora looked between them.
"Well, it's a funny story actually," Pam smirked.
"Nothing is going on." Eric glared at Pam.
"Does it have anything to do with your new progeny?" Nora raised an eyebrow. "I might have been away but word travels. Where is she?" She began to look around.
"Would you believe that she has gotten herself into trouble?" Pam chuckled.
"Pam." Eric warned.
"Really Eric? What is it with you and that fairy." Nora rolled her eyes.
"Don't." Eric looked at her and then began to walk back inside.
"Eric! Hey!" Nora called out but he kept walking. One of the guys walked over to her.
"We need to stock up on supplies."
"Yeah. Sure." She followed him.
"So, you're not going to tell your sweet baby sister what you are up to?" Pam laughed as Eric stopped walking.
"Listen we don't know who we can trust, ok. So let's just keep this small."
"God you really are just in a pissy mood." Pam huffed as she walked into the room, and he followed. They were all standing in a circle.
"Come on, hurry up." Tara waved them over.
Lafayette looked at them all. "Each of these daggers is laced with a potent binding spell." He began to hand them out.
"What the hell are we supposed to do with this?" Eric looked at the knife.
"What do you think?" Lafayette rolled his eyes.
"So, we're just taking a chance? This is bullshit." Eric huffed.
"It's the best chance we got. I don't see you trying to muster up a spell." Lafayette snapped bitterly.
"There's got to be something better than this." Eric huffed as he slammed the knife into the table.
"No one said this would be easy." Jessica tried to be the voice of reason.
"I don't need it to be easy. I need it to be attainable. Knives? Really?" Eric shook his head.
"Sorry, this isn't up to snuff for you." Lafayette rolled his eyes. "It's this or why don't you go back and prevent this from happening to start with!" He yelled bitterly as Jesus touched his arm softly.
"It's ok. We can do this." Jesus tried to reassure him.
"Then let's go back and stop this," Eric interjected as they all looked at him.
"It was a figure of speech." Lafayette rolled his eyes.
"But I bet there is a spell somewhere. I mean hell if fairies can have their own dimension, then..." Eric began to ramble.
"Listen to this crazy motha fucker!" Lafayette shook his head.
"You know he may be onto something." Jesus interrupted as they all looked at him.
"It was a joke." Lafayette added.
"There is something, isn't there?" Eric's eyes got wide and then he was in front of Jesus within seconds. He gasped as his back slammed into the wall. Eric hissed at him.
"Hey!" Alcide growled.
"I have had it with you!" Lafayette yelled and Eric looked at all of them.
"Back up." He snapped at them. "Or I kill him for real this time!"
"Eric..." Pam sighed.
"Tell me about this spell." Eric ignored everyone's protest and looked at Jesus.
"You're making this worse, fanger!" Alcide yelled.
"Shut up wolf!" Eric yelled and then brought his attention back to Jesus.
"My abuela used to tell stories about it to us as kids," Jesus spoke calmly even though Eric had him pinned to the wall.
"So you know how to do the spell then?" Eric narrowed his eyes.
"If the stories are true then yes."
"Let go of him now or else," Lafayette warned.
"It's fine," Jesus reassured him. "I can do this."
Eric abruptly let go of him and put his fangs away. Jesus coughed slightly and fixed his shirt.
"We're not seriously talking about time travel?" Pam added.
"Is this true? Is there a spell to go back in time?" James looked at Jesus.
"Only the dark witches used it." Jesus swallowed hard. "But my uncle was a dark witch so..."
"I don't want you to mess with the dark shit. We know what happened with Marnie." Lafayette was filled with concern.
"Oh, fuck that witch. Did she come back? I don't see her." Eric walked over to them.
"Just because we don't see her doesn't mean she isn't out there." Lafayette stood next to Jesus.
"I think this could work," Jesus interjected. Everyone looked at him. "Imagine if we could just go back and stop all of this from happening to begin with."
"I don't like this. Don't they always say you shouldn't mess with shit like that. The butterfly effect?" Sam added.
"That actually had a really good soundtrack," Pam smirked.
"Can we really go back and stop all this?" Jason asked.
"Could I be human again?" Jessica asked with hopeful eyes.
"Nah this is bullshit. It would never work." Tara spoke up.
"If we went back far enough. You could both be human again." Jesus looked at Tara and Jessica. "If you were warned. It could work. I mean it's pretty damn plausible."
"This is what I am talking about. Changing the past is not good." Sam looked around worriedly.
"If Bill was dead then no Lilith." Eric spoke as they all looked at him.
"She could just find someone else. This is ridiculous." Pam huffed loudly.
"Not if we destroy her blood first but also Bill being dead sounds good to me." Eric grinned. "I want in. Send me back and I will fix this."
"Eric, no!" Pam rushed to his side.
"I could stop all of this from happening."
"Or you could die for real." Pam's voice was filled with emotion. "This is stupid, Eric and you know it."
He ignored her as he closed in the distance to Jesus. Lafayette stood defensively in front of him.
"That's close enough." He warned.
Eric put his hands up in a defenseless gesture. "Just send me back and I will fix all of this. I have been alive longer than any of you."
"Could you warn me about the night of the party? When I snuck out?" Jessica's eyes filled with blood tears.
"Do you hear yourself?! Eric could die and you're worried about your poor human self!" Pam snapped.
Jessica looked at Jason. "I could be human again."
"I could go back with him." Alcide finally spoke as they all turned.
"Thanks for the offer but I work better alone." Eric rolled his eyes and then looked back at Jesus. "How quickly could you do this?"
"I just need to look through some old books." Jesus swallowed hard.
"Good, so twenty-four hours sounds about right?" Eric raised an eyebrow.
"Shit like this takes time." Lafayette huffed loudly.
"If you haven't noticed, we don't have a lot of that." Eric groaned deeply as he looked back at Jesus. "Find that spell."
Eric walked to the door and Alcide got in front of him.
"Not now, wolf." Eric warned.
"I can help you." Alcide didn't move.
"How about this? Get out of my way before I make minced dog meat out of you." Eric hissed at him and Alcide rolled his eyes as he stepped aside.
"Eric, wait." Pam ran after him as he left the room. They immediately ran into Russell in the hallway with Talbot.
"Just going for a night stroll." Eric turned a corner as Pam followed him. "You are not going to talk me out of this, Pam."
"You could die, Eric. I can't do this with you again." She broke down and cried as he stopped walking now. He turned and looked at her. "I can't lose you."
"Come here." He put his arms around her as she cried against him.
"I know that you renounced your ties to me, but it still hurts." She looked up at him.
He smiled softly. "You will always be my family, Pamela." He kissed her forehead and then walked off as she cried softly.
