Hammy (enters the chat room with a cookie in his paw and hands it to me)

Me (takes the cookie from Hammy's paw): Thank you, Hammy

Hammy: You look so sad, so I thought that the cookie would make you feel better

Me: It will make me feel better, hey, do you think you can talk to our readers while I go to the kitchen to make me tea?

Hammy (with excitement): Sure

Me (leaves the chat room)

Hammy: Hi, fellow readers, it's me, Hammy. I hope you guys enjoyed reading Over the Hedge: A New Perspective. Here's chapter 8! Enjoy! Now, I want my cookie! (runs out of the chat room with excitement)

RJ (off-screen): Hammy, I thought I told you the cookie's junk!

Hammy (off-screen): But I like the cookie

Chapter 8

Ben and Ciara walked out of Gladys' backyard and see the police to arrest Gladys and Dwayne while animal control came to collect the bear.

"Here we go, off to the Rockies for you, Smokey," the man said as he and his partner took the bear away.

"Now, you do realize that was the Depelter Turbo?" a police officer said as he walks Gladys, who is now bald due to the Depelter Turbo to the police car.

"Officer, please, it was that Verminator! He sold it to me! This has nothing to do with me! (A/N) I have a niece who's going to be worried about me. I need to be with her," Gladys cried.

"Hey, hey, it was in your yard, your name's on the contract. So, you can tell it to the judge. You also should have thought about your niece before you committed a crime," the officer glared at her.

"No! It's not my fault! Let go of me!" Gladys cried as she tried to escape.

"Ma'am," the officer tried to reassure her.

"I can't be arrested I'm president of the Home Owners Association!" Gladys said as she hits the first cop and tried to make a run for it, but the second cop tackled her and his partner holds her down.

"She's getting away! Get her!" Dwayne called out before tiptoeing away, with a lawn gnome stuck to his butt, due to Hammy. Ciara saw that the exterminator tried to escape and she tried to tackle him to the ground but Ben gently grabbed her arm.

"Ben, he's trying to get away as well. We need to tell the cops," she said.

"No, no, no, just wait," he said with a smirk on his face.

"Ben, what did you do?"

"Do you remember that Nugent went through the fences while he was chasing RJ yesterday?"

"Yeah why are you asking?"

"After I fixed the fences and put the dog back on the chain, I may have put the dog toys where Dwayne here is going to climb over and lands on them,"

"Oh, wow, that's a great plan,"

"Thank you,"

"You're welcome,"

They watched Dwayne climbing over a fence. As he landed, there was squeaking coming from the dog toys.

"Play?" Nugent said.

"Oh, no… No, no! No, no!" Dwayne said. There was a loud chomp and the exterminator yelled in pain.

"Now, watch this. Hey, officer, I think the exterminator went over the fence and the dog got him now," Ben said.

"Oh, thanks, young man. Let's get him, guys," the officer said. The police officers went to the house to grab Dwayne.

"Alright, let's get out of here," Ciara said.

"I could never agree more," Ben said. They walked back to Gladys' house and went through the hedge and see the animals celebrating.

"High five, Hammy," Stella said.

"Yes! It worked! We did it! We did it! Oh, yes!" Hammy beamed.

"You need to settle down, Hammy," Ciara said.

"Okay," Hammy said.

"So, where are you going to stay since your aunt's house is destroyed?" Ben asked.

"I don't know, I can ask one of the neighbors if they could let me stay until I can find a place of my own or I can go find a hotel room in town. Besides, I have books and clothes in the house, but my books are in boxes," Ciara responded.

"Do you want to stay with me for a while until you find your own place?" he asked.

"Um, that would be great," she responded.

"Stella! Stella!" Tiger said.

"Over here, Tiger!" Stella called happily. Tiger came over the hedge to see Stella.

"Oh, Stella so this is the outdoor woods?" Tiger asked as he and Stella embraced before looking around the forest and then he grinned happily. "I like it,"

"Come on, big boy. You're coming with me," Stella smiled back. Ciara turned to the cat.

"Whoa, wait a minute, since when did this happen?" Ciara asked motioning to the skunk and cat.

"It happened last night," Tiger responded.

"When I was asleep last night?"

"Yes, please don't be mad, Ciara"

"Hey, I'm not mad at you,"

"You know, RJ, just for the record, if you had told us that all that food you were trying to get was to pay back an angry bear, we've would've given it to you," Verne said.

"Really?" RJ asked.

"So, that's what this was about? You guys were stealing food from all of us?" Ben asked.

"Um, yeah,"

"Yeah, that's what families do," Verne responded to RJ's question.

"They look out for each other," Ciara finished.

"I've never had anything like that," RJ mumbled.

"I'm sorry, RJ," Ciara said, putting a hand on the raccoon's back with comfort.

"Thank you, Ciara,"

"You're welcome,"

"I know, but believe me, this… This is the gateway to the good life," Verne said gestured to his family.

"I really wish you would've told me that sooner," RJ said.

"Well, that's bad communication, also what families do," Ben said.

"So, what do you say? You wanna be a part of it?" Verne asked RJ. The raccoon set his bag down as he decided to stay.

"Come here, come here. I promised I wouldn't do this. Okay?" Hammy said as he came up to RJ to give him a nice, big, warm hug. Later, the rest of the animals joined in the group hug.

"Welcome to the family," Ozzie said loudly. Ben and Ciara smiled at them. Then, Ciara's phone started to ring. She reached for her phone in her pocket and then answered it.

"Hello?" Ciara asked.

"Is this Ciara Foster?" a woman asked.

"This is she," she responded.

"This is Emily Dawson from HarperCollins Publishers. I'm calling you about your book that your friend sent to this company," Emily Dawson said.

"Oh, was it by email?"

"Yes, it is. Anyway, I have read your book and it was amazing. It was really good. I think that the children will love it. We would love to have it published by next summer let's say July,"

"Thank you so much. I haven't got the title for the book, but I got it right now,"

"Really? What's the title of your book?"

"It's called Over the Hedge,"

"Alright, that's a very good title. We will launch your book in the autumn, we'll send you copies of your book to your place, so you can give your friends a copy for free,"

"Thank you, Mrs. Dawson; I will email you the address,"

"You're welcome, Ms. Foster; you have a good day,"

"You too, bye," Emily said.

"Bye, Mrs. Dawson," Ciara said before hanging up the phone. She turned to Ben with excitement.

"Ciara, why are you smiling at me like that and who was that on the phone?" Ben asked.

"That was Emily Dawson from HarperCollins Publishers. She read my book that you send with my email and she loves it," Ciara responded.

"That's great news; I'm happy for you," Ben said, hugging her and she hugged him back.

"Thank you, Ben,"

"You're welcome,"

"Wait; did I just hear that your book is getting published?" Tiger asked.

"Yes, you did," Ciara responded to her aunt's former cat.

"That's great," the animals congratulated Ciara as well.

"Thanks, you guys,"

"You're welcome," the animals said.

"What a first week of spring, huh;" Verne said smiling until he realized. "Wait a minute, there's only two hundred sixty-seven days left 'til winter! What are we going to do for food?" Verne asked.

Hammy raised his hand.

"Yes, Hammy?" RJ asked.

"I filled the log," Hammy said pointing at the log, now filled with acorns. "Look, look! I found my nuts!"

"You really did, Hammy," Ciara said while laughing along with Ben.

Announcement: Disney's going to make Zootopia 2, Frozen 3, and Toy Story 5!

I haven't watched Zootopia and Frozen 2. But, I have watched Frozen and the Toy Story movies. I thought they were done with Toy Story franchise because of how Toy Story 4 ended. Anyway, I'm so excited for Toy Story 5.
