Chapter 24: The date Part 2
Syaoran smiles and gets in the car. He grabs Sakura's hand and gives it a kiss of affection. Sakura's eyes widened and she was about to say something.
"Don't forget there is a car following us. I suspect it's Hua." He said and started the car. He turned to look at her and felt mesmerized by her again. She looked so beautiful in her dress and she had an angry look. He felt that she looked really cute all angry at him. Sakura pulls her hand away from his grasp. Syaoran felt his heart clench as if he lost something precious.
"You don't have to kiss me all the time." Sakura said angrily and turned her head towards the window to watch as the buildings passed by.
Syaoran smiled at Sakura and continued driving. They were by a frozen lake and came around the door to open it for her.
He says, "Come out, It's a bit chilly out here so wear my scarf for extra warmth." He pulls out and bundles Sakura with his scarf, before she rejects his offer. She is pulled out of the car and he pulls her to a bench nearby. It had a thermo and 2 pairs of ice skates.
Sakura looks at Syaoran confused. He laughs at her expression. He pulls her and pushes her gently to sit down. He pulls out the skates and says, "how about we do some ice skating?" He sits down next to her and starts to put on the skates. Sakura was stunned for a moment and he turned to look at her. She quickly snapped out of her gaze and fumbled putting on her skates. Syaoran chuckled at her and bent down and helped her lace up her skates.
Sakura blushes to a beat red and feels her heart beating fast. Syaoran looks up at her and says "If you are cold i had some hot chocolate here to warm us up." Sakura looked at the thermo and realized how considerate he was. She thought they would go to a fancy restaurant.
"Why are you doing this?" Sakura said suddenly without some thought. She had thought he had a poor personality.
Syaoran smiles and responds, "You should know why this is all fake." he said, finishing up tying her shoes. Sakura felt a tinge of disappointment. She didn't think she would feel hurt to hear words from him like that. "But," he said getting up, "this is your first date. I wanted to make it special for you." he said looking intently at her.
Sakura had just felt disappointment but suddenly felt touched by Syaoran's words to her.
"Let's go." He said, extending his hand to her. Sakura looked at his hand and smiled.
Not far from them Hua was hiding and looking at Sakura with intense jealousy. She felt that she should be the one in the place of Sakura. Her hands were clenched hard and she felt she could not breathe. She wanted to run over there and push Sakura away from touching Syaoran. But she could not interrupt them yet. She just wished she could hear what they were saying to each other.
Sakura and Syaoran walk on the frozen lake and Sakura starts to skate around the lake with ease. Syaoran thought she looked so good at skating and then he felt his legs turned to look and saw that Syaoran was struggling to skate on the ice. Sakura laughs at seeing Syaoran's misery. She skated up fast to him and asked, "Why did you choose to skate on our first date? You don't know how to skate?" she continued laughing at him.
Syaoran didn't want to look at her. "I heard from Eriol that you love skating." He mumbled out. Sakura stopped laughing as soon as she heard his reasoning. "Besides, I learn things quickly, I thought skating would be no different." he said proudly.
There he goes again bragging about himself. Sakura grabs his hand and says, "It takes a lot of practice to skate. Let me teach you." She said, smiling at him. Her eyes were very bright and Syaoran paused for a moment. He felt his hand felt hot from holding Sakura's hand.
He saw movement behind the tree in the distance. He saw Hua spying on them and he eagerly responded to Sakura, "okay. " He purposely skates worse to have Sakura trying hard to help him learn. The closer Sakura was with him, it would only anger Hua more.
Sakura thought his skills were really bad and he had no coordination. "Syaoran, you have to let go of me to learn how to skate." She tried reasoning with him. He just kept grabbing her arm and pulling her closer to him.
"I'm trying hard to learn Sakura," he said, as he was leaning more towards her body. Sakura was trying to be nice but felt that he was now taking advantage of her. She pushed him away but he held on to her too tightly. Syaoran balanced was off and he fell backwards. Sakura fell on top of him.
Her eyes widen and she quickly tries to get up but he grabs her quickly. He whispers in her ear, "Don't move yet. Hua is here and is watching us." Sakura was shocked how quick he could tell she was around. Syaoran quickly rolls Sakura over and brushes a wisp of her hair behind her hair.
Sakura hears footsteps running up to them.
Syaoran whispers, "It's showtime."
"Syaoran! How could you do this to me?!" Hua yelled out. She wobbles over to them and falls a few times walking towards them on the icy lake. Syaoran gets up and helps Sakura up from the ground. He brushes off the snow from Sakura and turns to look at Hua.
"Do what? I am just on a date with my girlfriend." Syaoran replies dryly. He grabs Sakura's hand and pulls her towards the bench. Sakura looks at Syaoran confusingly. Hua was in the middle of the lake and tried wobbling towards them. Syaoran sits Sakura down and grabs the thermo nearby and pours a cup of hot chocolate in the cup. He gives it to Sakura to drink when Hua quickly snatches it from her. Hua quickly downs the drink and she forgot how hot the beverage was. She burnt her tongue and cried, "oh my mouth!"
Syaoran smiles and smirks. He looks at Sakura and says to her, "It's noisy here. Let's go."
He unties Sakura's shoe lace and they get their shoes. Hua looks at Syaoran in disbelief.
"Syaoran! Where are you going?!" Hua cried out from the ground.
Syaoran rushes to the car with Sakura. He closes the doors and turns to look at Hua.
"Ms. Hua, we aren't in any type of a relationship. I would like you to leave my girlfriend and I alone on our date." he said firmly.
"If you continue with this facade. I would have to tell my uncle this unfortunate truth about that car accident." he said with a smirk.
He had received news about the car accident that happened with his uncle. He had heard some news that Hua was not even in China at the time of the incident. He did not care who had saved his uncle as long as it was not Hua Wang.
Hua heard Syaoran's words and her face turned a ghastly white color. She thought she did well at keeping everyone's words. She was not in China at the time of the accident but had thought she was able to trick everyone.
"W-What do you mean?" Hua stuttered.
Syaoran looked intensely at Hua and told her, "If you continue to trick my family with these tricks. I will have no choice but to push you to your own death."
Hua swallows in fear and watches as Syaoran walks away from her. She clenches her fist in anger. She felt despair when she heard his threat. It seems like she will have to do something to make it seem like she was there. But how would she be able to convince Syaoran to not rat her out to his uncle. His uncle held her at a pedestal to save him. She didn't know who had saved him. But she must not let this news reach his uncle's ears. She was fearful of what Syaoran was going to do now. She wanted to interrupt Syaoran's threat and be the wife of the Li Clan. She huffs and puffs and walks away back to her car. She screams at the driver and slams the door. Hua sits in her seat trying to think of ways to get in the Li Clan. She hears her phone ring. She looks at it and throws her phone at the floor.
"So you think you could get rid of me that easily?" Hua retorted. Her phone rang again and she looked at her phone again. She was getting annoyed that this guy kept calling her nonstop.
She answers her phone and yells, "What do you want?!"
"I thought you would enjoy my gift to you." the man asked.
"Su Lan! Don't go too far!" she yelled.
"Time is ticking. Remember I know all your dark secrets." Su threatened her, "I just need you to give me the money and we will be done with you."
Hua was silent for a while and said, "So you were the one who told Syaoran?" She was so angry she could hardly contain her feelings.
"Hm." he acknowledged telling her the fact he informed Syaoran.
Hua clutches her hands and throws her phone at the window and it cracks. She was angry she felt her blood rising. The driver in the front was so scared at what had just happened he froze.
"What are you looking at! Drive!" Hua screams out, "Follow them."
Su Lan sits in his car and he smiles. "Keep going that way Ms. Hua. Keep falling in your own abyss." He opens his phone to look at a photo of a girl. "So I will get your revenge on her, little sister." He caresses the picture and tells the driver to go back to the hotel.
Sakura tugs on her seatbelt and asks, "Is our date done?" she thought that was the end of it.
"Do you think she will give up that easily?" Syaoran said, looking at the car following them.
Sakura turns to look but Syaoran grabs her hand quickly. "Don't look, they will know they've been spotted." He told her. Sakura looks at him nervously. He caresses her soft hand and says, "Don't worry I will try to shake her off."
"Won't that alert them though." Sakura asked.
Syaoran looks at her and tells her, "Get ready to run out of the car." Sakura turns to look outside where Syaoran was looking. Sakura sees a night market area that has tents up and it was primetime and it was bustling.
"You want to eat there?" Sakura asked, astonished that Syaoran would even recommend it.
"I knew she would follow us." he said, suddenly stopped the car and parked and took Sakura's hand and ran into the night market.
Hua screams at her driver to stop and she runs to the entrance and sees the night market. She takes out a napkin and covers her mouth. She felt vomiting after seeing so many stalls and people. She wanted to follow them but to see so many people and dirty food around her she did not know if she could stand it. "Y-You follow them!" she yelled at her driver.
Syaoran and Sakura ran to the other side of the night market. He looks behind to see if she persisted in following them. He saw that her driver followed them in and walked up to Syaoran.
"Syaoran? He followed us in." Sakura said worriedly.
"Don't worry." Syaoran said. The driver walked up to Syaoran and bowed to Syaoran.
"Young master," he said.
"Syaoran?" Sakura said, confusingly, "this is?"
"Meet my butler, Wei." Syaoran said, "he was sent away from the Li family a long time ago."
"Oh?" Sakura surprisedly said, "But he was driving Hua around?"
Syaoran smirked, "I placed him there. He has been helping me gather evidence against her and to tell me what her every move is. He is still new so he will just have to gather her trust."
Sakura nods her head, she was utterly impressed by Syaoran. "He just has to take a few pictures of us and say that he lost us after I confronted him."
"Yes, young master." Wei said, "Please, young mistress Kinomoto."
"Oh!? Please call me Sakura." Sakura said to Wei, smiling brightly at him.
Wei smiles and looks at Syaoran seeing him look at Sakura. He had never seen his master gazing at anyone the way he looked at Sakura. He smiled knowingly and extended his hand out and said, "Please this way."
Wei takes out a handkerchief and starts to wipe the table silverware and seating area. Sakura just plopped down on the bench and asked Wei, "May I call you Uncle Wei?"
Wei looks up from cleaning in surprise. He looks at Syaoran as if asking permission.
Syaoran nods at Wei. "Mistress Kinomoto–Er I mean Miss Sakura, you may." Wei replied.
Sakura smiles earnestly at Wei. "Syaoran, I will order some food." She ran before Syaoran could ask her to wait.
Syaoran could only watch her back as it disappeared into the crowd.
"Master Li–"
"Wei, I know what you're going to say. But please do not misunderstand, Miss Kinomoto and I are just pretending." Syaoarn said softly.
After sitting down and looking through his phone. He suddenly saw a meat stick appear in front of his eyes.
Sakura looks at him and smiles at him. "Have you ever had one of these before?" Sakura asked.
Syaoran looks at her and shakes his head. He was not sure about eating this meat stick and if it tasted good. He gives Sakura a skeptical look as he takes a meat stick and feels nervous for the first time.
Sakura could not help but break out laughing at his expression. "Why do you look so nervous eating meat?" She starts to eat a few meat sticks and Syaoran just stares at her.
"Stop watching me eat," Sakura grabs a meat stick and kicks his shin and throws a meat stick in his mouth.
Syaoran was about to sit out the meat stick but suddenly tasted the sweet delicious taste that he never had tasted before.
Sakura looked at him while he was not moving. "Do you not like the taste?"
Syaoran snapped out of his state and pulled the meat out and started to eat the meat. It tasted as if heaven was melting in his mouth. Sakura smiles and continues to eat the food.
Syaoran didn't like to see Sakura's smug look and said, "The food was okay." He looks away quickly.
Sakura looks at him and laughs. She grabs his hand and says, "Let's go there is a place I want to show you."
She pulls him and Wei smiles at them. "S-Sakura where are we going?" He managed to ask.
Sakura replies, "There is a short tunnel that brings us to a cove on the at the end and we can sneak out"
Syaoran stares at her. "Did you want to get away from Hua?" Sakura asked.
Syaoran slowly nods his head.
Sakura held on to his hand tightly and his heart began to rush. His face suddenly heated up.
They walked out of the cove area and climbed up on the street level. Sakura let go of his hand and asked, "Where to next? My pretend boyfriend?"
Syaoran could not help but chuckle. "I did have a place in mind" They walk towards down the street.
Sakura pulled him to a bus that was coming down the street. "Let's catch this bus."
Sakura paid for her fare. She was about to sit down when she saw Syaoran was holding up the line. Sakura turned back to see what happened.
"Do you not have a pass?" Sakura asked.
Syaoran flushed as if he was embarrassed for not having a bus pass. He shakes his head. Sakura laughs and pays for his fare. She takes his hand and pulls him to a seat.
Sakura says jokingly, "How come I didn't know you were so cute."
Syaoran snaps his head at her joke. No one had ever called him cute. "I'm not cute." He said defensively, "I-I mean."
Sakura looked at him and said, "Syaoran, I am kidding." she laughs at him.
Syaoran smiles and shakes his head. He hadn't meant to try new things today. But Sakura had managed without any effort to make him try new things he had never eaten or felt like doing. The more he spent time with her today, he felt a stronger urge to get to know her more.
"Let's go to a cafe." he blurted out.
Sakura stares at him and replies, "Okay, there should be a cafe coming soon."
Syaoran shakes his head, "There is a cafe I know of, my cousin Eriol had told me about." as they walk down the bus to find a seat. There was only one seat in the back and Syaoran quickly walked over and sat down in front of Sakura. Sakura was dumbstruck as she thought Syaoran would let her sit in the seat. She huffs at the sight of Syaoran sitting down. When she had thought he was a gentleman, he always turned out to be the worst man out there. A guy on another row chuckles and asks, "Miss, did you want to sit here?"
Sakura turns and looks over at the young man. He was wearing a different school uniform from their school. He was very handsome; he had the deepest blue eyes that were as captivating as Syaoran's eyes. Sakura was speechless and nodded her head. Syaoran heard a man's voice speaking to Sakura. Sakura was walking towards the man when looked at the man and felt a surge in his heart. He felt indescribable feelings about Sakura walking towards that man. He wanted to grab Sakura's hand but he felt that she would feel uncomfortable with him doing that in public. They only had an agreement to do this couple's lover PDA in front of Hua. He didn't know how to deal with these unexplained feelings. But he felt it was only towards Sakura. Sakura smiled at the stranger and the guy smiled at Sakura.
"Thank you for the seat." Syaoran heard Sakura say to the stranger. Syaoran's ears perked up.
"Is that your boyfriend?" the stranger had asked Sakura. Sakura quickly shakes her head. The stranger smiles and extends his hand to her, "My name is Kuragari Aku."
Sakura smiles and responds back, "My name is Sakura Kinomoto."
Syaoran scoffs as he hears Sakura mention her name. He turns to look back at Sakura and sees Sakura laughing at something Kuragari said to her. He felt so angry because this was supposed to be their first date.
'Whoa. This is just a pretend date.' Syaoran thought to himself. He shakes his head from the thoughts he had. He gets up and looks at Sakura and says fiercely "Let's go."
Sakura was taken aback and smiled awkwardly at Kuragari. "I hope we meet again, Kuragari." She said sliding out of her seat and following out of the bus with Syaoran.
Kuragari smiles at Sakura. He had just got out of school for a competition and was not looking forward to going back home. He walks off the bus with a smile and whispers, "Sakura, I hope we meet soon."
"Syaoran!" Sakura said, running down to catch up with Syaoran. He had seemed to have stormed off from the bus. Syaoran was angry but Sakura was not dressed for running. He slowed down so she could catch up with him. Sakura finally was able to catch up and slowed down.
Syaoran snuck a peak at Sakura. Sakura's cheeks were a rosy pink from running from the bus to him. She snuck a wisp of her hair behind her ears and looked around her surroundings.
"Are we almost there?" Sakura asked.
Syaoran quickly looked away and started to strut away. Sakura rolls her eyes and follows up.
They were getting closer to the cafe.
Hua was huffing and puffing. She was distressed that they had lost Syaoran and Sakura. After an hour Wei walked back to her empty hand. She screamed and walked back to the car. Wei sits in the driver's seat getting ready to drive. Hua tapped aggressively on her phone and tried to think of a new plan. She must get rid of Sakura one way or another. But now a new problem has arised. Syaoran knows that she was not in the country at the time of the accident.
She screamed again in the car. She needs to pay off Su Lan before more secrets are spilled. She felt stuck and didn't know what to do now. Hua started to feel that everyone was against her. Why could Syaoran not fall in love with her? Her other suitors would fall like putty around her. Her phone rang and it was her father. Hua smiles and answers her phone. She drops her phone on hearing what her father was telling her. The news that he told her was not what she was expecting and would set back her plans.
"Hua, you need to come back to China immediately. We are on the brink of bankruptcy if the Li corporation doesn't stop taking all our contracts." Hua's father yells, "if you do not come back you will be cut off."
Hua clenches her phone and tells Wei, "let's go back to the hotel. I'm urgently needed back to China"
She must deal with the Li Corporation before moving to her next plans.
