AN - Hey everyone, and welcome back! I'm finally getting chapter 3 up, sorry for the wait, but I hope it was worth it. :') I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who favorite/followed, and a big thank you to Drumboy100 for the kind reviews, every review means so much to me. :) Anyways, onto the story, I hope you all enjoy!

I gazed ahead, keeping my eyes trained on Mustang.

"Drop dead handsome, right?" Lust swoons, as if in a trance. I sucked my cheeks in, then exhaled loudly.

"I guess." I tried to act indifferent, but inwardly I couldn't help but agree with her. The man was definitely a sight for sore eyes. I peek once more at the man and he's still looking my way while strutting over to the counter.

He's wearing a coy grin, and I try my best to control my ever growing smile.

"Roy Mustang! Welcome back! How was the trip?" I glance over at Al, who's made his way around the counter, heading over to Roy, arms outstretched. The two hug and share a quick laugh, after they break the embrace Roy begins to speak.

"The same as always." He shrugs while sitting down only a few chairs away from me. I can't help but crack a small smile at his voice, it was deep, rough, and definitely suited his appearance. I keep sneaking glances at him. "But everything's good, in case you wanted to know." He finishes while pulling his leg up, now leaning casually on one of the wooden chairs.

"Amazing, just what I wanted to hear!" Al pulls another chair up and sits beside Roy, gesturing for the short girl from earlier to help a new customer that just walked in.

"And how are you?" Roy queries, placing a hand to his face while rubbing his mouth, curiously.

"Fantastic, business is booming like usual." They both laugh it off like it's some sort of inside joke and my eyebrows knit down. "Ed got sick for a few days but he's back and up again, Winry helped out around here while he was taking his sick days." Roy keeps nodding as Al continues to embellish on his simple life.

"Sounds about right."

"Yep, Winry is a keeper that's for sure!" The blond retorts while Roy nods in agreement. Then they proceed to fall into a lull, Al toys with his mug of whatever he was drinking and Roy keeps glancing my way, I try and act as if I wasn't noticing his odd behavior. He suddenly stands up, and Al does too. Al gives a small wave and Roy reciprocates before turning heel and walking straight my way.

"Roy! Hi!" Lust stands up and cuts in front of me, arms outstretched, clearly expecting a hug just as Al had gotten. He tries to politely shrug her off, but after she seems to insist on getting an embrace, he gives a more forceful push away of her hands, his eyebrows knitting down.

"Playing hard to get, eh?" Lust mutters, keeping a coy grin plastered on her face. Roy simply pushed by and took where she had been previously sitting.. beside me. He cleared his throat while leaning forward on the counter, I hesitantly looked his way; he was definitely staring at me.

"..hi." I peeped up, and he gave me a warm smile.

"This spot taken?" He asks politely and I glance over to Lust, her weight has been shifted to one hip and her hand was placed sassily on her side. She gave me a strange glare and I'm unsure if I already want to make an enemy over something as simple as this.

I glance between the two for another moment before staring straight ahead behind the counter. I casually start back up again. "Not anymore." I give a quiet laugh under my breath and from the corner of my eye I notice Roy grin. Lust quickly hurries away with a huff under her breath, I try my best to avoid her gaze.

Roy doesn't reply but simply gestures for the waitress to come over to us. I cock a brow but don't think too much of it.

"Roy!" The girl comes dashing over while Roy gives a half hearted head tilt.

"Mei!" He holds his hand outward and she gives a quick high five.

"How's my favorite constable doing?" She quips while whipping out her small notepad to take his order I assumed.

And then it clicked in my head, that's why Roy was wearing a uniform, he must've been the town's constable. I smiled, I didn't know him well at all, but for some reason the job role seemed to fit him.

"Fantastic!" He replied while glancing at the menu ahead. The two fell silent as she clearly awaited his order, it was odd how casually these people knew when a conversation was done. "Could I get two Bee's Knees, and hold the gin please." He clears his throat and Mei nods while scribbling quickly in her notepad.

"Comin' right up!" And with that she trots away, chipper just like the entirety of this small town.

"Two?" I didn't mean to say that aloud, but I suppose my curiosity had gotten the better of me.

"Did I say two?" He quips, and I can see a smile creep up on his face. "I meant to order one… well hey! From my spot it seems you don't have anything to drink, what a happy coincidence." He chirps, still leaning forward onto the counter.

I can't seem to find the words, so I stay silent, my smile speaking for me.

"I hope you like what I got," He continued suddenly. "I don't drink, seeing as my job couldn't afford a drunk constable." He laughs while rubbing his chin again. "I'm sure Al could throw some in for you."

"Oh no, I don't drink." I jump in, and his eyes widen as he glances my way.

"Huh, can't say I should be surprised, I did just meet you after all." He says and I smile. We maintain eye contact for maybe too long before he jumps back in. "So.." he drawls while his elbow rests on the counter a moment later. "May I get a name to work with?"

I stare at him for a few seconds, before leaning forward to mirror his position. "Riza." I hold my hand out and he grins while gently taking my hand.

"Nice to meet you Riza." He shakes my hand and holds it for a couple moments after, before he breaks it quickly. "I assume you've heard my name, but in case not, I'm Roy."

I tuck my hand away into my lap and nod. "I might've heard your name once or twice." I respond coyly and he catches on instantly, casting me a knowing smile.

"I bet. What can I say? I'm the talk of the town." I laugh under my breath, but before I can respond, Mei comes skipping over, two drinks in hand.

"Thanks." I add after taking my drink from her. Roy gives his appreciate as well, and just as soon as Mei had arrived she was just as quickly gone.

I glance back at Mustang while sipping my beverage.

"Who's Mei?" I ask, curiosity lacing my tone.

"Mei? She's-" Roy was cut off as there was a sudden uproar of voice outside. My head shot to the side, glancing out the restaurants doors. Roy was already up on his feet, making a swift exit to the door, I couldn't help but lunge to my feet and catch up to him. What the heck was going on. Whatever it was, it didn't sound good.

I faltered in my tracks when there was a sudden 'bang!'. I blinked once, then twice. Everything seeming to slow around me; I hesitantly glanced up at Roy, my heart still racing a million miles an hour. I only had one question in my mind. He met my eyes with his own and I had to ask-

-"Was that a gunshot?"
