Chapter 12 Mutiny

After a few minutes after Wall-e rode the elevator down , the Captain called his deputy to see him. The Commander appeared in the Captain's quarters and was surprised by the presence there of Eve

''Why is Lieutenant Evelyn here?''

''Look Auto, she found the plant - said showing him the plant in his shoe ''Activate the Holodetector.''

''There's no need. Please give it back to me," - Auto said, extending his hand slightly.

''Although you know what , I'll sort it out myself," - said the Captain and was already about to enter the elevator when the way was blocked by Auto.

''What are you doing Auto? Get out of my way.''

''We aren't returning to the Earth.''

''What do you mean we aren't returning back ?! What are you talking about ?!''

''Please give me the plant, Sir''

''Explain Auto, why we aren't returning?''

''It's top secret . Captain, please give me the plant.''

''What is supposed to mean top secret?! ''

For several minutes they exchanged sentences and questions among themselves, until finally the Captain couldn't stand it and shouted: ''Speak Auto! That's an order!''

Auto stared at the Captain and he showed Auto a serious face . Auto knew that he would not be able to convince the Captain so he simply said: ''Yes, Captain''

Auto went to the computer and searched through folders for a few minutes until he came across the one containing a recording marked '' Top Secret '' intended only for a particular person in this case Auto.

17 minutes earlier

Wall-e was next to Moe telling him about information that was given to the Captain . Wall -e now felt remorse for leaving Eve there alone.

''I have to go back there'' – he stated

''But how? Now they won't let you in there.''

All in all, Moe was right. Wall-e wondered, until he noticed something ''Hey, what is there?'' - he pointed with his hand straight ahead , where used towels were thrown in .

''It's only a garbage chute.'' – Moe replied simply not surprised, and only then did he understand what Wall-e meant, when he looking up. ''Hey, if you think to use this for climbing, forget it. It is hideous''

''I guess I'll do that,'' - he said and took off his backpack, ''But now in my normal clothes,''

Within three minutes he had changed into his suit , strapped on his the player and put on the bag , which he had previously left with Moe . Making sure that no one was coming , they both went to the chute , and Wall -e open the door forward . Wall -e checked the pipe inside and spoke up after a while :

''I think I'll be able to climb after this,'' - he stated and started climbing.

''Ehh come on, don't be stupid. If you fall, I won't catch you''

''Don't worry. I'll be fine,'' - Wall-e assured him, ''You just have to keep them open in case I have to come back quickly.''

''Mhm, there won't be a problem with that,'' - Moe said when he saw that the door could be blocked with buckles. He blocked the door and now they could be open all the time.

''Good idea'' - said Wall -e showing his thumb up. ''Ok, I'm climbing.''

Surprisingly fast Wall-e was climbing . It was apparent that these pipes could have been cleaned occasionally because they were not as dirty as Moe had previously thought . Wall-e's legs and hands hardly slipped at all despite the fact that he was wearing boots and gloves. He didn't look down at all just continued climbing leaning with his back and supporting himself with his hand and legs.

When he still had a small piece of road, he stopped after hearing voices. The moment they quieted down for a moment, Wall-e pulled himself up and hooked his legs to his sides while he held his hands up and watched what was happening in the room. When he decided that no one was looking in his direction, he quietly sneaked behind a wide table on the right and watched what was going on. In the quarters was the human robot, which Wall-e saw in the video earlier.

Music sounded and Wall-e knew the kind well. Shelby Forthright appeared on the screen . Everyone listened attentively to what the recording conveyed. Wall-e also listened attentively. When there was talk of Operation 'Cleanup', Wall-e knew very well what it was about, but he didn't understand why the person said there was a threat to life, and in fact so many people were still on the Earth .

''Life threatening? How so?'' - said the Captain, not understanding like also Eve and Wall-e.

''I've done it all gonna have to cancel operation recolonize so … just stay the course.. Rather than try and fix this problem , it' ll just be easier for everyone to remain in space.''

''Earier?'' – said the Captain surprised

''What?'' - Wall-e said quietly, covering his mouth with his hand while being slightly deflected with hiding.

''Boss! We have to go'' - another voice in the recording spoke up

''Just a moment'' - he said returning to speaking ''Okay I'm giving override directive A113 go to full commanders. Take control of everything and don't return to the Earth.

When he was about to finish the recording , he noticed a piece of paper lying down along with a photo. He sat back down and began to speak:

''And there is one more thing... Probably not an important one but it had better be documented anyway. An operation was performed on a randomly selected young boy. Unfortunately, we learned that his body was overloaded, resulting in immediate cardiac arrest... This will not be disclosed to others, so I am passing it on only to you. The boy's name was William Burtt and he was 24 years old . Here you have a picture of him. It was probably a shame to even look since he was just a test subject.'' Although he said the last sentence more quietly everyone heard it. It especially hurt Wall-e ''So I repeat again absolutely never return to the Earth,'' - after these words he put on a mask and the recording ended.

The Captain had no words for it especially for that last sentence. Without a doubt, this boy looked like Wall-e.

Eve couldn't believe what she heard and clenched her fists.

Wall-e after turning off the recording was both angry and saddened. This truth hurt him terribly, especially what he heard, that in fact they abandoned him and everyone else on Earth to death without any rescue, and on top of that he learned that he was only used as... STUPID TEST SUBJECT!?

Wall-e knew well that he had to keep quiet, but this situation made him not think normally. How could these people even think that he died!? After all, this boy ... ''IT'S ME?'' Wall-e almost screamed but fortunately no one heard him. Now he really didn't know what to think about it .He hid more at the back of the table and sat holding his hands on his head, attracting his legs together. Tears flew from his eyes and he had to raise his goggles to his forehead. They were flying so fast that he couldn't stop them ''These people cheated me'' - he said to himself in his mind ''How could they do this to me? What have I done to them?'' - he said now broken sobbing.

Eve also had tears but quickly wiped them away before anyone could see. She wanted to teach that man a decent less on for what he said but unfortunately she knew he was long dead when the Captain asked about the date the message was sent. She had pain in her heart at the words she heard. How did they even think the boy was dead? She was almost sure that this young boy this William Burth was in fact Wall-e. Inside she was glad he didn't have to watch it, because he probably would have broken down pretty badly. However, she had no idea that Wall-e was in the quarters and crying the whole time.

For the next few minutes, the Captain tried to convince Auto that the Earth was no longer toxic and fit for life, but Auto objected and continued to stick to his directive. Eve was also getting into the word, but her opinions didn't mean anything either.

Wall-e was still crying. He had tissues next to him, which he had taken earlier from one of the drawers, and was wiping his eyes and nose with them. He slowly calmed down and listened all the time to everything that was said in the Captain's quarters. He completely agreed with everything the captain said and wanted to say something too, but couldn't reveal himself. While the conversation was still going on back there, Wall -e calmly began to think everything through: ''Maybe they used me and probably every other worker against our will and left for dead on the Earth… But I can't let these people here live in space forever... After all, the Earth is different now. There are no more toxic substances on it and you can still save everything ... I didn't give up even though I was left alone, and here, too, I'm not going to let this stupid, rigid robot make life on the Earth ever be forgotten.'' Wall-e took some tissues and blew his nose well. ''I will help the Captain, Eve and everyone else get home'' - whispered these words while smiling and put on his goggles so that his red eyes couldn't be seen.

Meanwhile, the Captain snarled and turned away from the Auto to think. The Captain stared at the portraits of all the Captains of this Axiom seeing that from the time the Auto was human until now as an android only he kind of managed everything. The captain now understood that, after all, he is the captain, not Auto, so he, as his deputy, also cannot defy his orders . He proudly straightened up and said in a serious voice: ''I am the Captain here on this ship . You are to take a course to the Earth and right away.''

Auto couldn't stand it and roared : '' I WON'T DO IT ! '' and summoned his helper Gofour, who had already received the order from Commander Auto ( the Captain and Eve didn't notice it) and was waiting for the sign in the elevator to exit.

Eve and the captain were puzzled by the presence of Gofour ,and Wall -e was startled

''This is the guy who took the plant.'' - Wall-e said to himself.

''What do you want Gofour?''

Gofour didn't answer the Captain, only instantly took the plant of the Captain and was moving away.

''HEY!? Wait ! What are you ...?!'' - the Captain shouted to him and he just turned around and showed his tongue. ''This is the mutiny ! Eve ! Arrest him.'' - he ordered and Eve pulled out a gun and pointed it at Gofour.

Gofour frightened and backed away a bit.

''It's getting uninteresting,"- whispered Wall-e

''Give me that plant!'' - said seriously Eve further aiming at him and sticking out her hand to give it back.

This one slowly approached her while holding the plant, however Wall-e sensed that this was too easy.

''Eve, the plant is to be placed straight in the holodetector," - he said when he was sure Gofour would give her the green object but didn't expect that ...

''Nooo!'' - The Captain shouted when Gofour made a quick sweep and threw the plant towards the garbage chute.

''Woooaahhh (THUD!)''

''Huh?''

''What?''

No one expected that the moment the plant would fly towards the garbage chute, someone would catch it. This person turned out to be, without a doubt, Wall-e, who suspected that this guy would do such a thing and prepared to jump out. Wall-e managed to catch the plant and fell to the floor two feet away from the others, slipping.

''What the...?'' - Auto was surprised.

''This is," - said Wall-e, rising and showing the plant, which he held in one hand close to him.

''WALL-E!'' – exclaimed Eva and the Captain happily.

''It's you!'' - exclaimed Auto

''You know me?'' - asked Wall-e surprised

''I know you, Wall-e ... or rather ... William Burtt''

Eve and the Captain were shocked when Auto so thoughtlessly revealed Wall-e's true identity.

Wall-e feigned surprise and looked sadly at the floor with the plant held. Eve seeing his reaction was worried as did the Captain. However, they didn't know that Wall-e really knew about everything and only pretended for a while so as not to arouse suspicion.

''You had to wait a very long time to finally find out. So young boy and so it all had to come out in the end.''

''Be quiet! Wall-e, please don't listen to him,'' - Eve shouted

''This matter regarding the return to this miserable planet doesn't concern you, Wall-e. It doesn't make sense to argue like that. Give me the plant and I promise you can stay here and don't have to return to the Earth.''

''… I already know everything anyway.'' - said, when he raised his head and smiled for a moment.

''WHAT?''– everyone was surprised.

''I heard everything. And you're right'' - he said turning to Auto '' The Earth is not pretty and looks completely different than it used to.'' Auto listened to him ''But that doesn't mean it's unfit for life, and I know this very well because I spent a lifetime there to find out. I won't let you keep everyone here against their will just because of some stupid expired directive, which ... (BANG!)

Auto immediately hit him in the face when he started to say it and did it so fast that Wall-e didn't have time to react. Wall-e was hit and the plant flew out of his hand.

''YOU IMPUDENT FOOL. YOU WILL PAY FOR THESE WORDS!''

''WALL-E!'' - shouted Eve and wanted to help him but was caught by Gofour

''And where are you going?'' - Gofour held Eve with a special whip with a cord, which could lengthen depending on how it is thrown. For this reason, she couldn't in any way loosen those red bonds or move her arms.

''EVE!'' - shouted Wall-e seeing that Eve was caught.

''Don't worry about me. Catch the plant quickly," - she called out to him.

Wall-e quickly grabbed it before Auto ran up to him with a long metal cane in his hand. Wall-e, after turning around, was hit in the abdomen with the side of the tip without the double element and thrown onto the panel almost close to the window. The Captain as well as Eve looked on horrified. Eve continued to try to free herself , while the Captain sat in his hoverchair doing nothing but looking at the scene.

''Give me that plant now.''

''And if not then what?''

''I'll rip you this out by force," - he said pressing one of the buttons hidden in the cane, which activated the electric tips.

Wall-e seeing this got scared and backed away.

''Wall-e, run!'' - shouted to him Eve . ''You can't handle him . He is ... AAAAH!''

''Quiet" - said Gofour tightening bonds.

''EVE! ... AAAA! ...(THUST!)... (groans of pain)''

Wall-e after shouting Eve's name was hit with a cane by Auto. The electric charge hit him causing pain, and the plant flew out of his hand . Auto took a few steps and immediately stuck his cane in the shoe, causing the shoe to catch fire and then completely burnt to ashes.

''NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!''- Wall-e, Eve and Captain shouted.

They looked on horrified, unable to believe what Auto had just done. Their last hope of returning home had been squandered.

''A great pity, isn't it," - said Auto sarcastically. ''And as for your...''

''YOU WICKED BASTARD!'' - exclaimed the enraged Captain interrupting the Auto.

''Please step aside, Sir.'' - said Auto and retreated before the Captain flew at him but didn't expect Gofour to be pushed and Eve to be freed. She quickly grabbed the gun and Wall-e and wanted to escape but the passage was blocked .

''Eve, the garbage chute.'' - said Wall-e and without hesitating any longer, they climbed into it sliding down.

Fortunately, the small door was open and admittedly, they had a hard landing, but nothing serious happened. They ran into Moe, who was surprised by their sudden fall through the garbage chute. Before they could explain everything, however, an alarm sounded. It turned out that Auto was now in command, and the Captain was trapped in his quarters.

''TO ALL AXIOM SECURITY UNITS. CAPTURE LIEUTENANT EVELYN AND THE BOY IN THE YELLOW SUIT, WHO GOES BY THE NAME WALL-E ARE ACCUSED OF CAUSING SERIOUS PROBLEMS ON THE SHIP AND DESECRATING ORDERS. THEY ARE TO BE FOUND AND NEUTRALIZED''.

''It didn't sound like a mere threat'' - stated Moe

''We need to get out of here fast before they find us''

Eve grabbed Wall -e and was about to fly away when...

''Wait, guards'' - Moe said quickly and she grabbed his and they flew behind the vehicle with towels before they could see them.

''Damn, that was close. Thanks Moe" - said Eve watching them walk away.

Meanwhile, Wall-e suddenly felt sick and sat on the floor leaning against the wall. Eve without noticing his presence with them turned around and saw that something was wrong with him. She approached him concerned as did Moe.

''Wall-e, are you okay?''

''Is something hurting you?'' - asked Moe seeing that Wall-e was holding himself higher by his left side.

(slight groan of pain) ... Probably this is after... he hit me with this electric baton.

''Who hit you?''

''Commander Auto'' - said Eve angrily. ''This despicable bastard destroyed the plant. Our last hope to return on the Earth''. With sadness now she said: ''And Wall-e got hit by him a couple of times.''

Wall-e allowed Eve to half unzip his suit. They saw that there were only two dashes of yellow on the pacemaker and were very concerned. Wall-e also had red marks from the use of an electric baton. These marks were hurt him, but they weren't very serious. He didn't think about it because it pained him to see a grief-stricken Eve and wanted to comfort her somehow, but before he could do so, another patrol passed them.

''We need to find some kind of hiding place. It isn't safe here," - said Eve

Wall-e agreed and fastened his suit . The moment Wall-e picked himself up from the floor, he didn't expect Eve to grab him and lift him wedding-style.

''Moe, listen" - said Eve turning to him. ''Don't be offended but if they see you with us then you can also be suspicious. I know you want to help us and even now your help was indescribable but...''

''Eve'' - interrupted her Moe ''I understand everything. I feel very sorry for you, especially you Wall-e. Be careful there.''

Eve smiled at him just like Wall-e and they flew away. However, Moe had another plan and decided to do a little investigating.
