Toshinori was not that nervous about talking about OFA with David Shield. In fact, he felt more nervous about the fact that he was going to give a false hope to Melissa through his quirk, since he would NEVER risk her in this war. He felt this war was something he should never let her in… and then Izuku showed him why that's a mistake- secrets can only destroy if not managed properly- or if you can clone yourself… Not THAT shocked him further.
Getting back on track, Toshi had learnt that letting her know WHY he didn't want to give it to her would be much better.
So he decided to preamble. "Well, one reason I'm here is because I needed to tell you and Melissa about a BIG secret. I know" he interrupted Dave before he could speak. "I'm too open, I wear my heart on my sleeve… That kind of person would never keep secrets. Then again, I seem to remember that you asked me for ideas at times… Just because I wear my heart on my sleeve doesn't mean that it can't hide my mind or secrets that I wouldn't normally speak of." He could see that their twin curious sides were awake now, and wanting to devour new information.
"Thankfully, while I have held much guilt for keeping this secret, it wasn't until recently that I have had a reason to divulge it to ANYONE. I have divulged it to Izuku in there, due to circumstances, and HE reminded me that I trusted you with a great many things- what's one secret more?" David wanted to rage, he didn't like that someone he considered his ebay friend didn't tell him whatever this secret was, but he DID note that there was genuine guilt in his eyes. HE decided that he would at least hear the man out. His face, which held a twinge of irritation, smoothed out.
"Toshi, I can sense the guilt gnawing at you. Why you would contemplate keeping a secret from me is a question I still daren't answer. The disappointing fact is that you think I CAN be trusted with this secret, yet I'm only being told now." Melissa had an expression that said she agreed with him, though she had a pouty glare that was honestly more adorable than terrifying… then again the terror it wrought on Toshi was greater. "So we'll hear you out. See what kind of secret you had to keep to be so paranoid about it."
Toshi beamed. And so he told them everything about OFA and AFO. Explained what kind of injuries he sustained against AFO himself. David was unwilling to believe that a quirk could be transferred from one person to another. This was despite him having debuffed down to show that he wasn't lying (and he wanted the disguise to stay since he'd grown used to it and liked the anonymity). Melissa was predictably shocked stiff at his state after the fight with AFO, while David, having seen it at the time the injury had occurred, had still refused to believe the facts that he had stated
"Can you even prove that quirks are transferable!? Nothing you just said makes sense! Maybe I should take you to a hospital!" Clearly he thought that Toshi was pulling it out of his ass, or was insane.
Toshi was relieved that Nezu was willing to provide the proof that was ultimately needed. He had it on his phone which had quite the encryption system on it and was routinely (in other words daily) checked for malware. He just showed those documents and both David AND Melissa had no choice but to see the truth.
Of course, the door to the training room just opened with a bang, just as David had started to apologize. Izuku appeared, scowling, as he dragged an unconscious Sam behind him unceremoniously. Toshi immediately buffed up again and went to ask him something but he was prematurely cut off. "David, do you even vet your staff for their connections and background?" came the cold question.
David stiffened, he clearly hadn't expected that question to pop up today. "No, but that's up to the higher authorities of the Lab tower. Why would you ask, and could you tell me why Sam fell unconscious?" He tried acting politely, to throw off any insecurities that may have popped out. Sam's offer was going to be rejected now, since Toshi needed a successor, not what he had made. That was made much clearer as Toshi's secret was spilt. Izuku's glare deepened. "He already made the offer then.." David started sweating. He REALLY didn't want to tell Toshi about his crazy idea, though it might have to come out now. He just hoped that Melissa wouldn't think too badly of him for his ideas.
"What offer? Izuku, you know better than to instigate an incident on I-Island- it might-" "I took care of that- security camera hacking is a little too easy when I can project light-based illusions. What's more important is that David here spills his beans… I wanna know HOW MUCH damage control I'll be forced to do because of this little dipshit. And Melissa, I figured you're rather invested in healing items, but please don't try waking Sam up- I've got him out cold and wasted. He won't wake"
Melissa looked a bit fearful, but she felt that she could trust Izuku. Also, he was kinda hot right now, if the blush was any indication. Dave, on the other hand, was shaking slightly… He couldn't tell how, but the presence Izuku was putting out was scary!
"One of my recent support items was just confiscated a few weeks ago! While I was contemplating what to do, as I had designed it especially for Toshi, Sam came up just last night about an idea to get the item back! I swear, I was thinking of rejecting it after listening to Toshi today! Please just TAKE THAT HEAVY PRESSURE OFF OF ME ALREADY! THAT'S ALL, I SWEAR!" he got out in a hurry, he even looked pale. Izuku sighed. "OK, then… what was the item and what was the supposed plan?" he asked back.
The pressure may have been taken back, but the fear remained. "It was meant to boost one's Quirk Factor, since I thought Toshi was losing his quirk! The plan was to stage a hostage situation using fake villains during next year's I-Expo to get the item back and then hand it over to him! That's it!" Dave was clearly scared shitless- Melissa looked mad at him, and he felt he deserved it. Izuku, funnily enough, grimaced at Toshi.
"Haa… Whaddya know? I was fucking right! Toshi, trusting Dave was the right move, since you now know the consequences. What have we learned?" he smugly asked. "Trusting those you see as family is the right move, unless you suspect something… I'd say you don't have a leg to stand on, but you were rightfully suspicious of your bastard father- I get that now. What are we going to do with Sam though?"
"We wake him up and interrogate him, of course! What else?" The smile on his face promised he said, Sam was woken up. He looked fearful of Izuku… then again, any teenager who can roundhouse kick an adult unconscious is worthy of fear. Izuku used an audiovisual hallucination on him to hide the rest from him. It worked only one way, as designed.
"Now that I know you wanted to deceive the good technician, let's talk business… Samuel Abraham." The chill in his voice froze Dave's blood. Toshi looked a bit curious, and Melissa was fuming even harder… She looked like she wanted to tear strips into her father.
"So you told him you were going to use fake villains… I know you told me that you'd use real villains though, so I'll do myself a favor and use my quirk to force the truth outta you. Only question is whether I should use my lightning control to make you tell the truth or if I should use the same to hurt you everytime you lie…." He chilled EVERYONE there with the childish curiosity in his voice. Izuku knew that THAT tactic would result in a reaction from even the toughest to break, since he broke some very tough criminals with this interrogation line. The only issue was the reaction from the surroundings. Tsukasa aside, since he liked doing the same, most others drew back a bit at that, so he decided to reassure them after this.
Sam was unfortunately the type to be easily coerced, so he immediately caved. BOOORING! "I deserved some compensation for that device! So what if David was wallowing!? I wanted my money! In any case, Wolfram will be enough to-URK!" The throat grab was fast! "You're gonna tell me everything you know about Wolfrasm and his gang and you're going to also tell me how I can contact him- if you want to live that is…" Izuku only got worse at the mention of Wolfram, Toshi noted- maybe he's important?
"Why would I!? I'm not crazy enough to betray Wolfram, not when I'm this deep in it!" Sam howled… He was more loyal to a Villain than David- speaks about his greed. Melissa looked to be one step from slapping Sam. Dave, who should've been restraining her, looked about ready to join her.
"Well, you obviously know about Wolfram's backer then… Would you say the same if I was backed by… Oh, I dunno, Decade?" Izuku dropped the name easily but while Toshi showed no surprise, having known both Izuku and Tsukasa as well as he did, David salivated at the opportunity to interrogate Izuku on Decade's armor… While Sam pissed his pants. Wonder he didn't do it earlier.
"ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT! I'LL TELL ALL! PLEASE DON'T SEND ME TO HIM! I'D RATHER DIE THAN GO AGAINST THAT MONSTER!" He practically squealed. He was promptly knocked out
"Alright, we need to have a nice, long chat".
AN: OK Iunno if I like this chapter as it is, so it's ok if you wanna make me make changes- I don't have many reasons to deny you... Next chapter will explain how Sam fucked up.
Seiichi and his brand of insanity are off to the races!
