While Morgoth ravaged the Earth and bound his power to it, Yavanna planted a new garden beyond his reach. After he was imprisoned, she returned there, and was delighted by what she found. For long ages she dwelled there in peace. But eventually, Men would find their way where Morgoth could not.

Eru Illuvatar - God; the Creator; Composer and Conductor of the Great Music.

Valar

Melkor/Morgoth - Most powerful of the Valar, rebelled against Eru Illuvatar. Worker of chaos, enemy of life.

Yavanna - Mother of all life in Arda. Known to the Na'vi as Eywa. Wife of Aule.

Aule - Lord of smithcraft and industry. Husband of Yavanna.

Ulmo - Lord of the seas, father of the Tulkun - sapient, whale-like beings who dwell in Pandora's oceans.

Manwe - Chief among the Valar, representative of Eru Illuvatar.

Mandos - Judge and pronouncer of fate. Along with Manwe, is most familiar with the will of Illuvatar.

Humans

Colonel Miles Quaritch - Military commander during the first human invasion of Pandora. Caused much suffering to the Na'vi. Killed in the Battle of the Tree of Souls.

Spider (Miles) Soccoro - Estranged son of Miles Quaritch. Lives with the Na'vi.

Mick Scoresby - Sea captain and Tulkun hunter.

Grace Augustine - Scientist and ally of the Na'vi. Killed by Miles Quaritch.

Na'vi

Jake Sully - Former human soldier, pledged his loyalty to the Na'vi and became one of them after marrying Neytiri. Toruk Makto and former Olo'eyktan of the Omatacaya clan.

Neytiri - Wife of Jake Sully; hunter, warrior, and future Tsahik.

Kiri - Adopted daughter of Jake and Neytiri, biological daughter of Grace Augustine's avatar. Close friend of Spider Soccoro.

Lo'ak - Son of Jake and Neytiri.

Tsireya - Daughter of Ronal and Tonowari, leaders of the Metkayina clan. Girlfriend of Lo'ak.

Tulkun

Payakan - Spirit brother of Lo'ak. Outcast of the Tulkun, ally to the Na'vi.
