Chapter Thirteen

Waking up to the sound of multiple raised voices as well as Kujo's worried cries and hisses with the familiar sound of a helicopter blades whapping through the air with the familiar vibrations going through my body, I realized we must be on route to the hospital. Not feeling the best but knowing I needed to calm everyone down before things took a turn for the worse which could happen quickly due to the heightened emotions I took a deep breath before hollering out as loud as I could,

"APPLE PIE!"

It had the intended effect as everyone shut up and looked towards me with the exception of the pilot. Forcing myself into a sitting position I slid my feet to the floor opening up two extra seats. Even with my eyes closed I could feel the multiple mouths opening to tell me to stop moving and I raised a hand telling them silently to shut up.

Finally in an upright position I opened my eyes and simultaneously my arms as I said one word,

"Kujo."

Gazing around the full inside I glanced over Mitch, Abe and Jackson who were sitting/standing near Jamie who was holding the very upset Kujo who was hissing and growling at Joe one of the SEAL members who appeared to be very upset about Kujo's not being caged. Jamie limped her way over to me she didn't even get to sit down beside me before Kujo jumped out of her arms and into mine. Holding in the wince that wanted to show on my face at Kujo's weight and claws pulling at my aching body I opened my shirt so he could climb into it knowing he was looking for comfort. I had become something like his mother over our time together and I knew he needed to be close to me and covered in my scent in order to calm down.

"Menhit, are you sure about this?" Ricky, one of the other SEAL members asked me as he glanced between Kujo, whose head was peeking out of my shirt as he curled into me, and my face.

"Yes. Thanks." I replied sending him a smile I felt bad that I couldn't articulate more than one or two words at a time however my body was aching so badly, and my brain felt to scrambled that I didn't feel up to the effort of stringing together a sentence before turning my attention to Mitch who was looking like he was torn between coming over to me and staying where he was.

"Mitch." Was all I said but I patted the open seat on my right, and he immediately made his way over to me I held out my hand and he took it holding it tightly as I leaned my tired head onto his shoulder. Glancing around at everyone as my eyes started to grow heavy, I realized someone was missing,

"...old man?" I mumbled into Mitch's shoulder as my eyes started to close.

"He... didn't make it." I heard Mitch reply as my eyes closed and I fell into a deep sleep, one hand holding Kujo close to me while also keeping a tight grip on Mitch's hand.

TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP- TIME SKIP

"-ter...Jupiter, time to wake up." Mitch's voice said growing louder as I woke up. Blinking I slowly lifted my head off of Mitch's shoulder letting go of his hand I rubbed my eyes to try and force myself to wake up as I barley holding back the huge yawn that wanted to erupt, I slowly begin to shift my body around as I stretched here and there to try and release the various aches and pains in my body.

Finally feeling awake and aware enough to open my eyes I was startled to realize that everyone appeared to be waiting for me to make the first move as the helicopter blades began to wind down.

Glancing around I figured the first thing to do was introduction's,

"Ricky, Joe, Tony, Lewis and I'm guessing Jerry is the pilot?" I said getting an affirmative nod from Ricky I went back to the rest of the introductions,

"Guys this is my little sister Jamie, my lover Mitch, my brother Abe and my friend Jackson." I said not really thinking to deeply about the introductions as I turned my attention to Kujo was happily purring as he nuzzled my stomach his wet nose tickling me causing me to grin.

"And this little adorable cub is Kujo. He's my adopted son just so you know meaning you better not even think about separating us, there will be no cages used on him and the only vet allowed near him is Mitch." I declared feeling very protective over my little cub as I glanced up at everyone with a warning glare.

"We have so much to talk about but before that I think I need a blood transfusion." Jamie said pulling my attention to her only to feel my eyes widen in worry as I took in her pale and sweaty face with her blue lips. Reaching out to feel the pulse on her neck I felt worry take over,

"Where's the EMT'S? She's going into hemorrhagic shock!" I said forgetting all about my own aches and pains as I put my full focus on Jamie.

"Rick, Joe carry her out now! Tony, Lewis clear the way for them and make sure to tell the nurses and doctors that she was impaled in the thigh, she's O negative blood type! Jerry I'm sure you have your own report to make so I'll catch up with you later. Boys we should probably go make our report to whoever the person in charge is. Oh and before I forget, here Mitch." I said pulling the large necklace out from my shirt and off of my neck handing it to Mitch as Tony, Lewis, Rick and Joe hurried off the helicopter carrying Jamie.

"I put Kujo's baby teeth in there for safe keeping." I told Mitch as I stood up, making sure to keep Kujo balanced in my arms as I did so.

"Shouldn't you get looked over too?" Jackson asked sounding worried.

"All I have is small cuts and bruises, trust me I would know if something was broken or horribly wrong. For now we should go report and have Mitch make as much of the cure as possible before the animals develop a resistance. That reminds me did you think of a way to share the cure without having to give a shot one at a time?" I asked my brain fog starting to clear up thanks to the deep sleep I had gotten on the flight back.
