"Mallow, not that I don't mind helping, but are you really sure this is a good idea?" Sophocles questioned.
"Look, with Ark back that means the bets back on, and I want to win." Mallow commented. "Now, are you sure about this being the way to a possible Z Crystal."
"Readings indicate as such, but shouldn't we have told someone where we were going, or maybe asked for the other's help?" Sophocles asked.
"Sophocles, it's 3:30pm, we still have plenty of time before it gets dark out." Mallow said.
"That's not what I'm worried about but okay. Anyways the location should be just up ahead." Sophocles said.
"This, this can't be right." Mallow commented, walking into the clearing.
"No, I'm sure of it, why wouldn't it be right?" Sophocles asked, walking up next to Mallow. "Oh, that's why." Sophocles said, seeing Oranguru's Juice Bar.
"Guru?" Oranguru's grunted, seeing Mallow nearby.
"Oh, hi teacher." Mallow said with a wave. "We're not here as customers right now, we're looking for a Totem Pokemon, you haven't seen one by any chance, have you?"
"Speak for yourself, I'm getting a glass of Pinap Juice." Sophocles said. "What? We can sit in the bar, have a nice cold refreshment and rework the scanner."
"Okay, you're right." Mallow sighed. "Make it two please teacher."
"Guru." Oranguru said, walking back into his juice bar.
A few minutes later
"I thought you said this program was impeccable." Mallow commented.
"Oh, I'm sorry that a tracking program never fully tested or professionally created isn't working properly yet." Sophocles commented. "Most of this program is based off of what other trainers reports have said, including our own, it's likely with how much of a hotspot this place is, it got a false reading on the location."
"So we're back to square one?" Mallow asked with a sigh.
"Not necessarily, like I said, this is a hotspot, it's possible a Totem Pokemon will show up, or that there is even a Z Crystal somewhere around here." Sophocles said. "We just need to look a bit harder.
"Right, let's do this!" Mallow exclaimed, rushing out of the bar.
"Wait, my juice!" Sophocles said, downing the rest of his Pinap Juice.
Mallow was searching the garden with her Pokemon when a single black feather landed on Rowlet.
"Coo?" Rowlet said, letting Steenee pick it up.
"A feather, but where'd it come from?" Mallow asked.
"Cannon." Toucannon said sternly.
"Is that a Toucannon?" Sophocles asked running up.
"Yeah, it's the leader of Rowlet and Trumbeak's old flock." Mallow said. "What are you doing here?"
"Cannon." Toucannon said, looking at Rowlet.
"What do you think they want?" Sophocles asked.
"I'm not sure." Mallow admitted.
"Coo." Rowlet said, standing in front of Toucannon, showing his full wing span.
"I think Toucannon wants Rowlet to do something." Sophocles said.
"Cannon. Tou Toucannon!" Toucannon shouted, before dragging a talon across the ground.
"That looks like a temple or a shrine?" Mallow asked looking at it.
"The Ruins of Conflict! Ark took Kiawe and I there once!" Sophocles exclaimed.
"Do you think you would know the way?" Mallow asked.
"Yeah, no problem." Sophocles said. "I even know the easier way through Iki Town."
"Cannon!" Toucannon shouted, picking up Steenee and flying off.
"Steenee!" Mallow called out.
"I think he wants just you and Rowlet to do this." Sophocles commented.
"You said Iki Town, right?" Mallow asked.
"Yeah, just north of it." Sophocles commented.
"Good to know, I'm going there." Mallow said, running off with Rowlet flying close behind.
"Wait what about me?" Sophocles asked.
At Iki Town
"Alright, Sophocles said that the temple should be right up ahead." Mallow said, looking around.
"Trumbeak where are you going?!" Ark called out.
"Ark?" Mallow asked.
"Mallow, why do I have a feeling you know why Trumbeak was rushing here?" Ark asked.
"Trum!" Trumbeak said, fluffing her feathers in front of Rowlet.
"Trumbeak why are you acting so strange?" Ark asked, seeing his flying type standing in the way of Rowlet.
"Wait, Toucannon took Steenee up ahead, and both of them were part of his flock." Mallow said.
"One of his Trumbeak did show up and talk to Trumbeak before she flew off." Ark recalled. "What's going on though?"
"Trum!" Trumbeak said, pecking at Rowlet.
"Coo!" Rowlet cried out, flying out of the way.
"Ark call her off!" Mallow said angrily.
"Do you really think I would if she was listening to me right now?!" Ark argued.
"Rowlet use Tackle!" Mallow called out.
Rowlet dove at Trumbeak, the evolved Pokemon leaping out of the way. Rising into the air and easily avoiding the attack.
"Rowlet use Grass Pledge!"
Rowlet swept upwards grass growing after him as it entangled around Trumbeak and dragging her back down to the ground.
"Trumbeak!" Ark called out as the flying type broke free, chasing back after Rowlet.
"Rowlet use Tackle!" Mallow called out.
Rowlet charged at Trumbeak, slamming into her as he swooped back around landing near Mallow.
"CANNON!" Toucannon's voice echoed out from the temple.
"Trum." Trumbeak said, landing by Ark calmly.
"Well, I think you win this one." Ark said, looking out towards the temple. "Say hi to Tapu Koko for me."
"Wait, Tape Koko?" Mallow asked.
"Of course, up ahead is the Ruins of Conflict, where Tapu Koko's shrine is." Ark said.
At the ruins
"Steenee!" Mallow called out, running over to her Pokemon.
"Cannon." Toucannon said calmly.
"KOKOKO!" Tapu Koko said, flying by Mallow.
"Wow, Ark was right, you are here." Mallow commented. "But why did you call me here?"
"Koko!" Tapu Koko called out, looking at Toucannon and Rowlet.
"Cannon." Toucannon replied, causing Rowlet to have a more confused look on his face than usual.
"KOKOKO!" Tapu Koko cried to the skies as something fell from the roof of the Ruins of Life.
"Coo?" Rowlet said in confusion as it fell on his head.
"What is it?" Mallow asked picking it up, seeing an off white crystal with the flying symbol in it. "A Z Crystal, was this a trial? Facing battle without Steenee?"
"KoKo." Tapu Koko cheered.
"Cannon, Toucannon." Toucannon said proudly looking at Rowlet.
"Or was this a challenge between me and Ark for a chance at this?" Mallow wondered, remembering that Ark and Trumbeak were also brought here.
