Hey everyone, long time no see. I'm really sorry for the 3-4 month delay. I know I said I'd have this chapter out before the end of February, but during that time I was struggling in Chemistry and had to focus. Apart from that, the reason this chapter took so long is because I didn't remember anything that happened in thia episode and knew it had to watch the actual episode to know what I'm working with. I'd constantly cringe just from the thought of it, but I finally mustered up the courage to watch it. And actually, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Watching an all star episode is hard enough, but without Duncan, I had less motivation. Duncan, Lightning, Alejandro, and Scott were the only good things about the season. But I promise the rest of the chapters won't take as long because I've already planned them out, while the other chapters I came up with on the spit as I was writing. Anywho, without further ado, let's get to the chapter.
It's morning and now I'm leading Lindsay into the camera room to show her the DVD.
"Why are we in here?" Lindsay asked me.
"You need to see this." I told her putting the CD into the computer. Once it was in, it played all of "Mal's greatest hits" air quote air quote. Breaking stuff, sabotaging, breaking stuff, scaring animals, breaking stuff, man this guy loves destroying other people's property. When the video was done I looked at Lindsay. To say she looked horrified was an understatement.
"So that's Mal?" She asked in a quite tone.
"Yep. Guy's a menace." I said before remembering something. "Hey Lindsay, you know why Scott has a black eye?"
"Oh ya, he said that Mike pushed him into Courtney kissing her, and she didn't take it well." Oh man, that explains a lot.
"Oh man. I should go check in on him." I told her. Before I walked out, she grabbed my arm.
"Duncan, do you really think we can defeat Mal? He seems really strong and dangerous." She said sounding scared. I don't blame her. Mal is pretty dangerous, it's no surprise he'd scare someone as innocent as Lindsay.
"I know he's scary, but we gotta take him down. If not, who knows what'll happen." She nodded to me as I left to go find Scott. As I passed the cabins I spotted Mal sneaking inside holding some papers. Wasn't he on Bony Island? Must have come back early. What is he up to? I snuck by the window to see what he was doing.
"Time to plant some evidence." He said as he placed the stack of paper under a pillow. "Oh Scott, how could you? Hahahaha." Huh?
"What are you up to?" I whispered to myself. I saw him walking to the door, so I hid on the other side of the cabin. Once he was out, I went around back and snuck in through the back window. I went to the pillow and pulled out pictures of Cameron with his face crossed off.
"So that's what he's doing. Trying to frame Scott for sabotaging Cameron's votes." I quickly stuffed the votes in my pocket before jumping back out the back window, closing it, and making a run for the woods.
"This should be far enough." I said before taking out my lighter and burning the rigged votes. "Well, that takes care of that." I soon heard Chris's voice.
"ATTENTION MAGGOTS! LAST ONE TO THE BEACH DROPS AND GIVES ME FIFTY! HUP! HUP! HUP!"
Welp, to the beach I go.
And the beach I am. Looks like I'm the first one here. Mal and Zoey are next. Then Courtney and Gwen, then Scott, and last Lindsay. They were all panting
"At ease maggots, bout time you got here. I was almost getting bored." Chris said wearing an army hat. "Glad you can join us Lindsay. You know the deal. Last one here, equals fifty pushups."
"No fair, the hotel was furthest from the beach." She complained.
"You mean, THE HOTEL WAS FURTHER FROM THE BEACH, SIR!" Chris shouted through the megaphone.
Confessional: Duncan
"Normally I'd ask Chris if I can do the pushups to save time, but I caught Mal glaring a hole in the back of my head. What's that about?
End of confessional
"And fifty." Wow, Lindsay's stronger than she looks.
"Listen up worms, Chef's boot camp challenge in season one was tough. But this is season five, and things are about to get a lot more hurt-ey. With... the Chris Mclean Obsta-Kill Course! Patent pending. And to explain how the challenge is, I give you Total Drama classic competitor, Brick!" Just then Brick from season four walked up to us.
"Brick MacArthur reporting for duty!" He said with a salute.
"At ease soldier." Chris said as Brick put his arm down. "Please explain the challenge Brick.
"Sir yes sir! To win this full on race challenge and avoid getting flushed, first, you'll have to conquer the fun tires!" Which was an area with tires. "Get through them, and you're on to the rope slope!" Which was a steep poorly made rame with ropes to climb.
"Some ropes are less reliable than others. so choose wisely. But not too wisely, that'll spoil the fun for me." Chris interrupted.
"Next, the snapping bars!" A monkey bar over a small pool of water.
"Why are they called that?" Zoey asked.
"You'll see." Chris said.
"Then it's on to a pleasant run through the duck and cover. Come out of that unharmed, and you're in for a real treat."
"Pfft, piece of cake." Scott! Why would you say that?!
"Ohhh? In that case..."
"NOOO!" Too late dude.
"Everyone has to wear a heavy pack for the whole challenge." Chris told us as Chef dropped a bunch of heavy packs in the ground. Everyone started complaining while I'll slapped Scott on the back of the head.
"I deserved that." He said.
"Abandon your pack and you'll face a brutal penalty, seriously." Chris laughed after saying that. I started strapping on my pack, as I did, someone spoke to me.
"Better watch your step, pal." I turned and saw Mal, and he was talking in his normal voice.
"So you finally show your true self to me huh?"
"Oh, I know you've known ever since last challenge. Your friend Geoff isn't the best with secrets." Dammit Geoff.
"So what? I'm not taking threats from the one who tampered with the votes."
"So what if I did? Oh, and don't think I don't know about you sabotaging my sabotage with planting the votes under Scott's pillow."
"How do you know it was me?"
"Oh please, Zoey was by the beach, Gwen and Courtney were in the mess hall, Scott was setting on the mess hall stairs not paying attention because apparently when he's sad, he eats dirt, and Lindsay's too dumb, so you're the only other option." He eats dirt when he's sad?
"Whatever, I'm not scared of you. Sooner or later I'll expose you for all you've done." I said grabbing him by the shirt. "Your hours here are numbered, pal. Or should I say, Mal?!" I growled as he grabbed my wrist and started twisting it.
"I highly doubt that. You may have stopped my plan to turn everyone against Scott, but I've got a back up plan to turn everyone against someone else. Consider this a warning, mess with me again, and I might just have to get rid of you, permanently!" He growled that last part before letting go of my wrist. Permanently huh? I'll have to be extra careful going forward.
"Hey guys, before we start, there's something I feel like I have to show." Mal said getting everyone's attention. "On my way here I just happen to come across this." He pulled out a rolled up paper from his pocket and opened it. It was a list. I recognize that list, it's the list Courtney made in the later episode. It's showing me first with devil horns, then Mike, then Zoey, then Lindsay, then Gwen, and last Scott, with a rat's tail. At the top it's titled, The order I will eliminate everyone and win. I always knew her lists would one day backfire.
"I am only assuming it's from Courtney since she makes these type of lists. I felt that it was quite unfair for how she was using Gwen and thought it was the right thing to do to show it." Right thing to do my ass. Normally I'd say something but it's Courtney, if he's gonna target someone, I don't mind it being her.
"You were planning to eliminate me?! What happened to the finale promise we made?" Gwen angrily said to her.
"Forget that. The real issue here is this!" Scott pointed to the tail she drew in him. "You gave me a tail?!" Of all the things, he's mad over that?
"W-what? I didn't make that. Maybe it was Duncan." Now she's blaming me? Pathetic.
"Nope, saw it fall out of your pocket." Mal said.
"I can't believe this!" Gwen yelled. "I worked my butt off trying to make things right with you, and this is what I get?!"
"Wait, I can explain." Courtney tried to say, but we all just walked away. Ain't karma a bitch
By now everyone has on their heavy packs and are lined up at the starting line. "On your marks, get set, GO!" We took off with me and Scott in the lead.
"This isn't so hard." Scott said as we races through the tires.
"Haven't you learned not to say OOF!" A plank came up and hit me square in the face. Now my vision is a little off. Is that two Courtneys that ran past me? I also heard Scott yelling that his foot is touching his face.
"You dungabidos didn't think colonel Mclean would give you a straight ahead challenge, did you?" Chris said over the speaker. After regaining my vision, I see Mal saving Zoey from falling, now she's looking into his eyes. Oh no, I know that look. It's the same look Bridgette gets when looking at Geoff, or Owen with food, or Justin with his reflection. She's getting blinded by love. Mal must be gaining her trust again. Gah! I forget how easily gullible Zoey is. There's a lesson here kids: Too much nice is bad for your pride, and better judgement. I saw Gwen run past me. She probably won't listen, but I gotta try.
"Gwen, I need to tell you something."
"Can't, trying to stay alive here." That's fair.
"Than just keep this in mind, don't trust Mi... oof!" Before I could finish, a tire a thrown at me. Dammit all. As I was struggling, someone lifted the tire off me.
"Phew, thanks Linds."
"No problem Duncan. Now come on." We races out of the tires and towards the rope wall. Lindsay took the red on while I took the one thag smelled suspiciously like dog hair. As I was climbing, Scott was hanging from the rope he was on. Looks like he'd been shocked.
"Scott, I need to talk to you. You can't trust..." Before I can finish, he was zapped again. "Maybe I should tell you later." I continued climbing and finally reached the top.
"Woah!" I heard someone yell. I looked back and saw Lindsay hanging on the edge of the climbing wall. Looks like her rope snapped.
"I got you Lindsay." I grabbed her wrist and pulled her up.
"Thanks Duncan."
"Just returning the favor."
"Mike is first to reach the snapping bars. Followed by Zoey and Gwen." Chris announced.
"We're falling behind, let's hurry!" I said as we took off. Once we got there, I saw Mal still on the bars.
"You get going, I'll catch up." I told Lindsay as I climbed on top of the bars and made my way across from atop. I stopped near Mal and jumped off and grabbed him while he was still hanging on.
"Arg! Let go!"
"Not without a fight!" I said. Suddenly, he gasped and his face turned a bit more, feminine.
"Svetlana Svetlympic champion wis ze hanging bars!" Uh oh.
"Agh! Ungh! Agh!" He started swinging back and forth, hitting me on the monkey bars. Over, and over, and over.
Does this guy ever get tired. Now he's spinning me around with his feet.
"Stop!" I yelled. He suddenly gasped and fell into the water, while I landed on my feet and hopped of the monkey bars. Hah! Serves him right. Lindsay then hopped off the bars and we took off.
"Duncan and Lindsey takes the lead! And Mike might be out of commish." Chris said. We passed by some rocks and I stopped running.
"Duncan? What are you doing?" Lindsay asked also stopping.
"I'm going to see what's up with Zoey. I think she's starting to trust Mal. You go on ahead." I told her.
"Ok, good luck." I went behind the rock and waited for Zoey. Didn't take long before she showed up.
"Zoey, wait!" She turned and saw me.
"Oh hey Duncan, what's up?"
"I saw the way you were looking at Mal earlier. You're not falling for his nice guy tricks are you?" I asked, but she just smiled.
"Oh that. Of course not. I'm just pretending so he doesn't get suspicious." Oh, that good.
"Oh good. I thought..." Before I cam finish, Lindsay ran back to us screaming.
"Get it off! Get it off!" She was trying to pull a leech from her face.
"Forgot to mention, this is Chef's favorite place to unwind in some leech target practice. So you better duck and you better find cover." Chris said. Chef started shooting more leeches as we took cover behind a big rock. I saw Courtney and Scott running this way too. It looked like Courtney was trying to talk to him, but he's not listening. I quickly grabbed him as he ran by and pulled him behind the rock with me and the girls.
"Alright guys, while we wait for Chef to run out of leeches, we gotta talk about Mal. But first, what happened to your pack?"
"It got caught in a bush so I ditched it."
"Won't you get a penalty?" Lindsay asked.
"I'll deal with it when I win." He said smugly
"Ok, so Scott, what exactly happened during the last challenge?"
"Me and him were walking in the tunnel when we can across Courtney. Dude was trying to get me to kiss her to gain her trust back but I refused. Then he pushed me into her and we kissed. I'm not gonna lie, I kind of liked it. At least until she punched me. Next thing I know I'm waking up in a cage." Yeesh, and I thought it was bad when Cameron kissed her.
"Don't worry Scott, maybe she was just surprised." Zoey said rubbing his back.
I'm honestly debating whether I should tell them about Mal's threat from earlier. It could risk getting them hurt. I'll have to be smart about this.
"I've got a question. When Mal said he picked up the chart Courtney dropped, did anyone actually see him pick up anything?" They all said no.
"I figured as much."
"Figured what?" Lindsay asked.
"Mal must have stole that list and expose her to draw a wedge between her and everyone else, especially Gwen."
"A wedge of what, cheese?"
"No Scott, I mean he wants Courtney to be the main target so everyone will focus on her and not him." Dude you were the villain of last season, how do you not get this?
"Well, at least it's Courtney and not one of us." Lindsay pointed out. Can't argue with that logic.
"Alright, I think Chef's done. Let's roll." I said as we started running again.
"It can't be too far now- WOAH!" Scott was saying before we all came to a sudden stop near a cliff with a zip line. On the other side was Chris.
"Welcome to the last obstacle. All you gotta do is make it to the other side of the cliff to thr finish line."
"And how are we supposed to get across?" I asked.
"Hello? Backpacks." Chris reminded. I opened my pack and pulled out some zip lining equipment.
"Awesome!"
"You never said we'd actually need the packs!" Scott yelled as the others arrived.
"Penalty, remember?"
"Scott, use your belt." I told him as I put on the equipment and started to zip down on the line.
"And Duncan's taking the lead!" Chris said.
"Weeee! This is fun!" I heard Lindsay say behind me.
"Zoey! You go on ahead!" I heard Mal yell before he jumped on my, slowing me down. Since Lindsay was behind me, she bumped into us and slowed down too.
"Hey! Let go!"
"No! If I can't get immunity, neither can you!" He growled in his normal voice. My t-bar couldn't hold the weight of the both of us and it snapped. We both fell into the water below us. As we resurfaced, I heard Chris's voice.
"And Zoey wins immunity! Gee, I wonder who's getting flushed tonight." Me and Mal glared at each other, but then he smirked.
"I would vote for you, but it'll smarter for me to vote for Courtney. And it'll smarter for you as well. I've managed to turn everyone against her, so voting me will do nothing." Dam, he's got a point.
After drying off in the washroom, I decided to go for a walk. There's still time before elimination, and I need time to myself to think. While walking, I heard the faint sound of sobbing. I followed the sound as it got louder. Soon I found the source of the sound. It was Courtney sitting at the base of a tree sobbing. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised with all that happened today. I was about to walk away when I stopped and turned back at her. Apart of me feels sorta sorry for her. I know she did this before and felt bad about it. But she also did other things that she never showed remorse for. After all, she's an A-type rageaholic psychopath. But after looking back at her again, I realized. She's not an A-type rageaholic psychopath, she's a fragile and depressed person filled with regret. The same way I was after the first time around. Now I feel bad for her. Even after everything that happened. Alright, I have to talk to her. I walked over to where she was sitting.
"Courtney?" I said softly to get her attention. She looked up with puffy eyes.
"What do you want?" She tried to sound angry, but there was more sadness than anger in her voice.
"I was walking by and saw you here." I sat down next to her. "Are you ok?" Ok, dumb question.
"Of course I'm not ok! I lost my best friend AGAIN, I once again screw up everything, I'm about to be eliminated, and I've lost any dignity I had before any if this!" Courtney ranted before breaking down in a fresh set of tears. I gently wrapped my arm around her attempting to comfort her. Surprisingly, she didn't pull away. In fact, she leaned in and started crying on my chest. I didn't say anything and hugged her while rubbing her back. As much as I'd normally hate to admit it, I hate seeing Courtney at her lowest. She's completely broken, and I'm partially the reason for it. If I hadn't screwed things up before, maybe things would have been better. But then again, me screwing up is what gave me this second chance in thr first place. I've made sure to fix all of my mistakes this time around, and I'm going to make sure everything is set right. That includes helping Courtney.
"Look Courtney. I know you feel guilty for what you did. I've felt that same guilt before. But I've learned. Instead of letting guilt overcome you, you gotta overcome the guilt. This just gives you all the nore reason to better yourself. No ones perfect and everything makes mistakes. You have to own up to your mistakes and fix them. Despite any dignity inducing feelings you have."
She pulled her head away and looked up at me.
"You really think so?"
"I know so. Look at me. I managed to make friends and do other stuff without worrying much about my bad boy persona. If I can change so can you." I looked at her for any good signs, and I got one. She smiled. Not a selfish smile. A genuine smile. The smile I haven't seen in forever. But I know her feelings for Scott are still there, and he still has feelings for her. Before I can think anymore, Courtney hugged me.
"Thank you Duncan." I smiled and hugged her back. We stayed that way for a couple of seconds without speaking, until Courtney spoke.
"I'm sorry for punching you during the boxing match. And for being such a horrible girlfriend."
"And I'm sorry for not being the most loyal boyfriend." I said. "Maybe it's time we both move on from our past and be friends."
It was quite for a few seconds before Courtney said, "I'd like that."
Confessional: Duncan
"Wow, I actually made amends with Courtney! Just goes to show how far we've both come.
End of confessional
After another minute, we pulled away. "I'm glad our feud is over. Too bad the others are deadest on voting you off."
Courtney thought for a moment. "Well if I'm going out, I'm going out with my dignity."
It started to get dark and I started heading to the elimination ceremony, when I bumped into someone.
"Greetings sergeant Duncan." Brick said.
"Hey Brick."
"Excellent job in the challenge today, and with helping Courtney."
"Thanks. Wait, how'd you know about Courtney?"
"I was out for a jog when I came across you two. I didn't want to interrupt. You did a valid thing there Duncan. I'd go to war with you any day!" He said with a salute. I smiled and saluted back before continuing walking. I soon arrived with everyone else there. Chris soon came out.
"Alrighty guys, you know the drill. Time to vote." Before anyone can vote, Courtney got up.
"Wait!"
"What now?"
"I want to quit!" Gasps were heard. Mal had a smirk on his smug little face.
"YOU, want to quit the game? The game that has a million dollar prize?"
"Yes. I know I'm going to get voted off anyway, and I'd prefer to go out on my terms." She got up and walked to Gwen. "Gwen, Scott, I'm really sorry for what I did. I hope we'd be able to talk when the season's over." The two looked deep in thought. Courtney then walk up to me as I got up. I'm guessing everyone excepted her to yell at me, but she smiled.
"Thank you Duncan, and good luck." She gave me and hug and I hugged back. This left everyone flabbergasted including Mal. Scott was basically spitting out gibberish.
Cut to the giant ass toilet.
Courtney was in the toilet with me and the others watching.
"Any last words Courtney?" Chris asked. She shook her head.
"I said what I needed to say." That was the last thing she said before Chris pressed the button, and the toilet took Courtney away.
"Alright, Zoey won the challenge so she gets the hotel with Duncan." Chris said as the rest of us walked off. Mal and I glared at each other one more time before parting ways. The second me and Zoey stepped foot into thr mansion, she bombarded me with questions.
"What was that?! Did you and Courtney make up? Are you back together?"
"Yes, me and Courtney made up, no we're not back together. Her heart belongs to a certain farm boy." I said. That seemed to satisfy Zoey enough since she dropped the subject. We ate and headed off to bed. Mal's plan might have gone differently than he planned, but it still worked and Courtney got flushed. But his luck can't help him out forever, because I'm going to stop him. That's a damn promise.
Alrighty another chapter done. I hope I was able to make up for the absence. Like and follow. And go check out my other story Total Drama Random Island if you haven't already.
