Ash and Hatsume were ready for the next event. It was going to be an water balloon toss. However, the twist was you could use your quirks to sabotage others. Except you can't attack other people, only the balloons. If a team is knocked out, they cannot sabotage and must move to the waiting area and you have to keep throwing the balloon.
Ash lined up with Hatsume in the grass with a blue water balloon in his hand. Ash saw Bakugo and Midoriya with a red one and the kids from before, Riga and Tomaro.
"Three! Two! One! GO!" the MC said. Ash threw it gently to Hatsume. Some kid with a quirk that let him fire small green laser pellets from his hand tried to sabotage them, but Hatsume used her drones to fly and catch the balloon before they hit it.
Ash used his electricity from Pikachu to blast some other contestants balloons, leaving only them, Bakugo and Midoriya, Riga and Tomaro, and two other contestants. "Take this spikey hair!" Bakugo said, firing an explosion at the balloon right as Ash threw it, completely destroying it.
"Aw man!" Hatsume said, crossing her arms. Then Midoriya used his psychic power to grab the other two contestants' balloons and smashed them into each other, taking them out of the competition. It was now Midoriya and Bakugo against Riga and Tomaro. Bakugo quickly threw it and tried to take out the opposing team's balloon, but Tomaro used his quirk, Force Field, in order to block it.
Midoriya quickly melted the string with his fire that Riga tried to use to burst the balloon. Midoriya then grabbed the balloon with his psychic powers. "Tomaro why isn't your force field working?!" Riga shouted at his friend.
"I can only block direct attacks not telekinesis!" Tomaro shouted back. Midoriya closed his fist and popped it, officially winning them the competition.
Riga gritted his teeth as he and Tomaro stormed off. Ash frowned, they really needed to rack up some more points or they'll really be in trouble.
Man, Midoriya's really getting stronger, I'll need to keep up. Ash thought as he and Hatsume went to the next event, which is a beanbag toss. The objective is to continuously throw beanbags into the holes in the beanbag stands, and each one gives you 10 points. Whoever has the most after 5 minutes wins. You and your partner have to switch between partners.
"Three! Two! One! GO!" the MC shouted. Ash threw one and missed, much to his dismay, but luckily for him, Hatsume's zoom quirk allowed her to figure out the exact amount of power she needs to throw it into the hole.
By the two minute mark, Ash and Hatsume were in first place with 170 points, followed by Riga and Tomaro with 140, and Bakugo and Midoriya were in dead last since Bakugo kept using his quirk and overshooting.
Another minute passed, and Ash and Hatsume got another 100 points, while everyone else was struggling to keep up. However, Ash noticed that Riga and Tomaro were catching up, and when another 30 seconds passed, they were ahead 320 to 290. Luckily for Ash and Hatsume, Tomaro missed a shot, giving them the momentum, they needed to comeback.
"45 seconds left!"
"You'll never win!" Riga said cockily.
'It isn't over until it's over! We're still in this!" Ash said.
With just 10 more seconds left, they both were neck and neck, but Hatsume quickly threw one right as the timer ran out, giving Ash and Hatsume the win.
"Nice job Hatsume." Ash said panting, putting his hands on his knees. "I wish I could use more of my babies, but we're still ahead!" Hatsume said, glee clear in her voice. Next is the three-legged race, and so Ash and Hatsume went to the track and with a bandana they tied their legs together. Except you can't use any quirks for this one.
"Alright, this is the three-legged race, so get ready! Three! Two! One! Go!" the MC shouted.
Ash and Hatsume were doing pretty well, until Ash felt some string tug on his leg and caused them to trip. Ash noticed other contestants tripping including Bakugo and Midoriya, giving Riga and Tomaro the victory.
Riga looked back and smirked at Ash. He gritted his teeth, this definitely isn't over yet.
