A week had passed since the initial questioning. Sumo, Clarence, Jeff, and Chelsea where currently attending a "Welcome home" party at Aberdale Elementary.
Clarence's mom was picking up Sumo, Jeff, and Chelsea for the party
"Hey Sumo!" Clarence, Jeff, and Chelsea said in unison
"Hey Guys" Sumo replied
"I can't believe their throwing a party for us" Clarence said
"I know right, and the halloween dance is only a month away!" Chelsea responded
"Well actually, I think there using the funds for the halloween party for this party" Says Jeff
"Aww, why would you say that jeff?" Mary chimed in
"Well I'm just saying our school isn't particularly "Rich" Jeff said confidently
"Yeah I Agree, remember when mr reese almost set the school on fire because he thought he could use painting tape to fix the exposed wires on the microwave" Chelsea said while chuckling
The whole car erupted into laughter due to the ridiculousness of the situation
"Yeah! And do you guys remember how the microwave got so bad?" Sumo asked while giggling
"How?" Chelsea asked
"Ooh Ooh I remember!" Clarence said
"What Happened?" Jeff said
"Mrs shoop put her can of beans in the microwave, without opening it!" Clarence said
Everyone burst out laughing again, the memory of the school's mishaps bringing a sense of nostalgia and humor to the group.
Mary had arrived at the school
"Ok guys have fun!" Mary said
"We Will!" They all said in unison
Before they went in mary pulled them aside
"And be safe guys… But more importantly have some fun, pick you up later" Mary said as she drove off
As they arrived at the school, they were greeted with cheers and applause from the teachers and students. Balloons and streamers adorned the halls, and there was a large cake in the shape of a school bus.
Breehn approaches Jeff, concerned. "Hey Jeff, are you feeling okay? You look a bit tired."
Jeff sighs. "I'm fine, Breehn. It's just that we didn't get much sleep during the week we were out in the wilderness. I'm still trying to catch up."
Sumo overhears their conversation and chimes in. "Yeah, we were all pretty sleep-deprived. But it was worth it, right guys? We had a lot of fun out there."
Chelsea nods in agreement. "Definitely. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
Belson walks up to Clarence, trying to act cool. "Hey Clarence, I heard you got lost in the wilderness. Did you find any treasure or something?"
Clarence rolls his eyes. "No, Belson. We were just trying to survive."
Percy walks up to the group, tears in his eyes. "I'm so glad you guys made it back. I was really worried about you."
Nathan pats Percy on the back. "Yeah man, we were all pretty worried. But they made it back safe and sound."
Dustin, overhearing their conversation, pipes up. "Hey, who wants to play some basketball? I heard they set up a hoop outside!"
Kimby shyly approaches the group, holding a basket of cupcakes. "Hey guys, I made these for the party. Do you like them?"
Chelsea takes a bite of one and nods enthusiastically. "These are amazing, Kimby! You should open up your own bakery someday."
As they continue to chat and mingle with their classmates, the group realizes how much they missed being around other people. Despite the challenges they faced in the wilderness, they are grateful to be back in civilization.
It was getting pretty boring at the school so Breehn's mom set up a small party with pizza and other things of that sort.
Clarence's mom handed them each a slice of pizza and a cup of soda.
"I can't believe we were lost in the wilderness for a week," Jeff said, taking a bite of his pizza.
"I know, right?" Chelsea replied. "It was like something out of a survival movie."
"I was so scared," Sumo added. "I didn't think we were ever going to make it back."
"But we did," Clarence said, putting a reassuring hand on Sumo's shoulder. "And now we're back home."
As they chatted and laughed, they saw some of their classmates across the room. Belson, Nathan, and Dustin were huddled together, snickering and making fun of someone.
"I can't stand those guys," Chelsea muttered under her breath.
"Maybe we should go talk to Breehn and see how he's doing," Sumo suggested.
"Yeah, let's do it," Clarence said.
The group made their way over to Breehn, who was sitting by himself at a table.
"Hey Breehn, how's it going?" Jeff asked.
Breehn looked up and smiled. "Oh, hey guys. I'm doing alright. How about you?"
"We're doing pretty good," Chelsea replied. "We're just happy to be back home."
"Yeah, it's good to be back," Breehn agreed.
As they talked, they saw Percy walk by with a tray of cupcakes. Suddenly, he tripped and the cupcakes went flying everywhere.
"Oh no, poor Percy," Chelsea exclaimed.
"Poor Percy?" Belson sneered as he walked by. "More like clumsy Percy."
The group exchanged glances, but before they could say anything, Gilben shuffled up to them and made some strange, unintelligible noises.
As the party continued, Breehn approached Jeff and said, "Hey, Jeff, do you want to come up to my room later and play some Dragons and Dice?"
Jeff's eyes lit up with excitement. "Yes! I've been dying to play a game. Count me in!" he replied eagerly.
Chelsea, Clarence, and Sumo overheard the conversation and asked if they could join in. Breehn nodded and said, "Sure, the more the merrier! We can all play together."
As the party started to wind down, Breehn and Jeff led the way to Breehn's room, with Chelsea, Clarence, and Sumo following close behind. Once they headed up to his room, they noticed it was adorned with posters of dragons, knights, and wizards.
"Seems like you where planning to play this huh?" Sumo said, while looking at Breehn's room
"Maybe," Breehn said with a smirk
Breehn pulled out his D&D game set and began to explain the rules to the group. "Okay, so in this game, you can create your own character and go on all sorts of adventures. You can fight monsters, cast spells, and explore magical realms."
The four friends sat around the table, a game of Dragons and Dice spread out before them. Clarence was bouncing in his seat with excitement, while Sumo shuffled the cards and Jeff meticulously arranged his dice. Chelsea leaned back in her chair, her arms folded as she observed the others.
"Okay, who's ready to play?" Clarence exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
"Let's get started," Sumo replied, dealing out the cards.
Jeff cleared his throat. "Before we begin, I just want to remind everyone to take the game seriously, this isn't like the pirate game."
Clarence rolled his eyes. "We know, Jeff. You've told us a million times."
Chelsea laughed. "Relax, Jeff. We'll be careful."
As the game progressed, Clarence threw himself into character, eagerly describing his every move. Sumo played with his usual reckless abandon, charging into battles without a second thought. Jeff carefully planned each move, always weighing his options. Chelsea played with a sly smile, occasionally surprising the others with her strategic maneuvers.
As they played, they lost track of time. Hours passed, and they only stopped to eat a few snacks and use the bathroom. They were all having so much fun that they didn't want the game to end.
Eventually, the game did come to a close, with the four friends emerging victorious. They high-fived and congratulated each other on a game well-played.
"That was awesome!" Clarence exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
"Yeah, that was pretty great," Sumo agreed.
Jeff nodded, his eyes shining. "I have to admit, that was really fun."
Breehn smiled. "We should do this more often."
And so, the friends packed up the game, already planning their next adventure. They may have been different in many ways, but when they played Dragons and Dice together, they were a perfectly matched team.
