whereabouts of the Candyman killer part 3
Josuke and the others have finally discovered more information behind the serial killer's recreation of a former scientist's work. As the search continues and also Morioh having their first annual Fog Festival, Josuke struggles to find the answer he's looking for.
Night time at the town hall, [microphone feedback] "So, I have good news and bad news. The good news, is that this new person was murdered while Yuya Fugami was in jail, He is exonerated and going free."
[clapping] "However, the bad news is that the real murder is still on the loose." [crowd gasps] "Frankly yes. Now, there's a good reason we're taking this case more seriously. We've had a breakthrough. Now, after careful review of all of the evidence, we have found a pattern. Each of the victims are High school students."
[crowd gasps] "Tragically, yes. Now, we don't have the money to protect every student. So instead, we've decided that we require everyone and I mean EVERYONE with a 9pm curfew only for safety purposes. Remember, no messing around."
In the school's bathroom. Josuke, Koichi and Okuyasu are talking and they're in complete shock about how there's been another student from their school that's been killed. Suddenly the lights flickers off then comes back on revealing Hazamada leaned against the wall looking at the trio.
"Well well well." (toilet flushes)
"Well well well." (toilet flushes)
(whistling) a boy steps out of the stall, crosses over to the sink as he washes his hands and uses the hand dryer and exits the bathroom.
"Well well well-"
Josuke crossed his arms, "Look whatever it is, can you just get to it? Our class is starting next period."
"I have a whole speech." (school bell rings)
"Ugh! fine. I'll just skip to the main part. I know that you guys have been investigating the serial killer and Koichi's dad. Well, I have a theory about Koichi's dad being missing at Rohan's house and actually found something."
Koichi's eyes widened, "Wait, you actually found something?"
Okuyasu crossed his arms, "This isn't just another one of your jokes, is it?"
"No. I went over to his house the other day to see how he was doing. Until I notice some papers he left on his desk. Turns out, his house used to be owned by a man named Dr. Marco Kobato."
Josuke types on his phone and reads the article out loud, "Dr. Marco Kobato was a neurologist. He died in the Morioh Insane Asylum, after conducting ethically dubious experiments? [gasps] "Oh, my god! Rohan's house was owned by a mad scientist! Now, we have to dig deep in this situation."
Later that same evening, the boys are heading to the Historical Science Museum. "If there's any record of Dr. Kobato, it'll be here." They entered inside the museum.
An employee guides the boys around, "Well, all we have are Dr. Kobato's old journals. This is the one he felt no one would ever find them."
The employee opens the box, "Huh?" (suspenseful music playing) "The journals are missing. The last person to look at them was, uh...Kenito Hirose."
(all gasps) "What?! My dad was researching a mad scientist? And disappeared at his house? Why?"
(sinister music playing) (laughing maniacally) The employee morphs into Koichi's hallucination father.
"Oh, god! Josuke! you guys, I'm hallucinating! Do something quick!" (Koichi whimpering, screaming) the hallucination drags Koichi by the ankles and into the box.
Waking up, Koichi lays on the floor with the box on his head as Okuyasu checks his pulse.
"Does anyone have a defibrillator?" several employees pulled up defibrillators
At Budogaoka High school. (school bell rings) Koichi puts his textbooks inside his locker and closes the door. Hazamada walks up to him.
"hey Hazamada. Have you seen Yukako? I've been calling and texting her all day with no response back."
"sorry Koichi, I haven't. But are you okay though? you just blacked out at the museum yesterday."
"it's just my hallucinations that always pops up while I'm trying to find my dad. My guilt is what triggers it."
"Are you sure you'll be okay, Koichi? We're worried about you."
"Yeah. I'll be alright. I'll see you later. I need to find Yukako." Koichi heads out of the school and into the front entrance. He looks around the area and spots Yukako walking and carrying her books in her arms.
"Yukako!"
She turns around and gasps then runs away from him. Koichi follows her, "Yukako, wait! come back!" She sprinted down the sidewalk avoiding people and incoming obstacles in her way as Koichi stayed right on her tail.
Minutes later, Koichi abruptly stops and gets quickly winded from running. He takes a few pumps from his inhaler as he watches Yukako run farther down the street.
Meanwhile on the streets of Morioh, Rohan heads to the Real Estate Agency Building to pick up his reimbursement check from the fire damages that were caused last year.
A female employee sits at the front desk, "Hi, how may I help you?"
"yes, I'm here to pick up a reimbursement payment. My house was caused by the fire last year. My name is Rohan Kishibe"
the receptionist types Rohan's name into the computer, "Rohan Kishibe…Ah-ha, here it is. It's the house that's located nearby the East plaza, correct?"
"Yes. that's correct."
"okay. So, my supervisor will be with you shortly with your payment. And also did you know your house was formerly owned by a scientist named Dr. Marco Kobato?"
"Dr. Marco Kobato? no, I haven't."
"well. He was a famous neurologist back in the 70s and his house was listed around 500 million back then. But there is also a possibility that you might get your repair costs exceeding fees reduced since you're the new owner of the house. if I were you, I would let my supervisor know if he could do that for you."
"Hmm." Rohan added a thinking look to his face.
the next day at Budogaoka High school (school bell rings) Koichi spots Yukako by the lockers. "Yukako, I need to talk to you."
"uh...um. can we talk later? I need to get to first period."
Koichi grabs her by the wrist, "Yukako, please. tell me what's going on?"
"sorry Koichi. I promise my mom that I wouldn't talk about it with anyone." said Yukako
Koichi downcast, "not even with me? But you tell me everything."
"I have to go. My mom would be mad if she knew that you knew." (in a sing-song voice) Bye!" Yukako walks off.
Koichi drums his fingers on his chin, "Oh, wait. That!" Yukako pauses. "no, I know about that."
She turned around and crossed her arms, "Wait. you do? How?"
Koichi adds a smirk, "I can easily sense that you're going through something. Something very important and honestly, I'm in shock."
"really? Are you sure?" Yukako asked, "yes I'm sure." Koichi crossed his arms. there was a dead silence between the two as they both locked eyes on each other. (record scratches)
Yukako crossed her arms, "You don't know what it is, Do you Koichi?"
Koichi downcasts and sighs, "No, I don't." She rolled her eyes, (sighs) "Will you stop hounding me, if I tell you?" Koichi makes a puppy face.
"Ugh. fine." Yukako whispers something into Koichi's ear. A shock expression appears on his face. (gasps) "WHAT?!" echoes as a flock of birds flew away.
minutes later at the school's pool. "Dr. Marco Kobato is your grandfather?!" Okuyasu exclaimed
"shh!" Koichi covers Okuyasu's mouth. "How come you haven't told us this?" Josuke asked
"look boys, I'm just surprised as you are but It's just complicated to talk about it as of right now." said Yukako
"Yukako, you have to tell us more details about your grandfather." said Josuke
"yeah. it's the only way to find out what happened to my dad. How is his disappearance related to your grandpa?" Koichi added
Yukako put her hands up, "I can't talk about it you guys."
"Why not?" asked Koichi
"Because, I discovered it a few days ago, and the truth could ruin my mom's reputation!" shouted Yukako
Koichi downcasts and gently grabs her hands, "If you tell us, we can help you Yukako. Will you be able to do this? at least for me?"
A glowy pink background with hearts appears behind Yukako as she blushes, "okay. Come to my house tomorrow after school. My mom will tell you guys everything she knows about my grandfather, Dr. Marco Kobato."
the next day at the Yamagishi's Residence. Josuke is holding a notebook and pen, "I just want to say thank you for agreeing to talk to us about your scientist father, Ms. Yamagishi."
Okuyasu eats a mouthful of lemon squares cookies , (muffled) "yeah. And thanks for the yummy lemon squares."
"you're welcome. And okay. you boys wanted to know about my father, I'll tell you. buckle up, because things are about to get a little bizarre. See, in the 1970s, my father, Dr. Marco Kobato, was a brilliant neurosurgeon, who had discovered a way to keep the human brain alive outside of the body. His work caught the attention of Army General Harold Greeting, who felt he could use it to spy on what he believed to be the biggest threat to the Japanese way of life. Meddling kids. It was the 1970s, and according to General Greeting, meddling kids were ruining everything. General Greeting had tried to infiltrate these groups. But the meddling kids always foiled him with a technique called mask pulling. So, Greeting tried to infiltrate them through hypnosis. But it only worked for so long as no one ever...snapped their fingers. When he saw my father's work, he wondered what if he could put a soldier's brain into the head of a meddling kid? He called the program the Special Covert Operations Brain Association."
"And what did that do?" Josuke asked
"it attempted to create the perfect spy, by swapping people's brains. And as the years few by, and the pressure to produce a result grew, my father slowly went insane. Until one day, my dad bricked up his secret lab in our basement, hid his journals so no one could recreate his work, and was committed to the Morioh Insane Asylum." said Ms. Yamagishi
"Wow, I can't believe that's your dad. removing brains. that shit is freaky." Okuyasu said, munching on a lemon square.
"But wait, my dad disappeared after finding Dr. Kobato's journals, and those dead kids all had their brains removed. Could they be connected?" Koichi asked
"I'm not completely sure about that, Koichi. But if there is a connection between your dad and the dead kids, the key to finding it is in this box." Ms. Yamagishi shows them a small green box as Koichi leans in.
(roaring)A monster erupts out of the box. (Koichi screams) Koichi wakes up coughing, (gasps) "what happened? Why's there a needle in my neck?"
"it's an adrenaline shot. Your heart stopped from a hallucination." said Josuke
"Koichi sweetheart, I'm sorry, but I'm not telling you anything else about your dad until you stop your hallucinations." Ms. Yamagishi said
"yeah. The doctor said he has only one adrenaline shot left." Okuyasu added
"please Ms. Yamagishi. if you think my dad is connected to the serial killer in any way, I have to know."
(sighs) "Okay. Koichi, your dad-" the hallucination monster appears from her mouth. (roaring) (screams)
At Rohan's house, Rohan is on his desktop computer. He types in Dr. Kobato's name in the search bar. A list of articles pops up on the screen, he clicks on one of the articles and reads it:" 'Dr. Marco Kobato was a former neurologist in the 1970s and was sent to the Morioh Insane Asylum based on his dubious experiments.' "
He opens his desk drawer and looks through the papers. He finds an old document from the real estate agent company with Dr. Kobato's name signed on the bottom. (gasps in shock)
The next day Koichi rings the doorbell. Yukako answers the door, "Koichi?"
"Yukako! I need to talk to your mom, now!" Koichi barges his way into the house. "Ms. Yamagishi! Do you still have the box? I want to know if my dad is connected to those dead kids."
Ms. Yamagishi crossed her arms, "Koichi, wait. Are you sure you won't hallucinate again?"
"yes I'm sure." (suspenseful music playing) sweat runs down Koichi's face. grinning his teeth, he takes off the lid.
(gasps) "Oh my god. I didn't hallucinate this time! I can finally find my dad! But, how is he connected to the dead kids?"
Ms. Yamagishi holds up an old picture of her as a child with her dad, "Okay, so after my dad died, his house was put up for sale and Rohan was the first person to buy it. And that's what first got your dad interested in him. In his effort to learn more about Dr. Kobato, Kenito uncovered the one thing my dad never intended anyone to find, his journals. That's how he learned that Marco was my dad, and that his secret lab was still buried underneath the house."
(gasps) "so, that's what my dad was doing at Rohan's house. Looking for Dr. Kobato's secret lab, before Rohan moved in." said Koichi
"Yes." "okay, But how does this connect my dad to the dead kids?"
"there's only one explanation. Your dad opened the lab and..."
(roaring) (screams) a shadow figure grabs him and pulls him inside. (voice echoing) "The ghost of Dr. Marco Kobato has returned to finish his work!"
Koichi genuinely believes the tale as he quivers in fear, "You're saying that my dad was taken by the ghost of your dad? I gotta tell Josuke, so we can find my dad and the serial killer ghost kidnapper!" He runs out of the house
later at Rohan's house, Josuke knocks on the front door. Rohan answers it.
"Rohan, listen for a second. this may sound crazy but there's a secret lab under your basement and we have to find it." said Josuke
Rohan sighs, "I know. Come inside." Inside the basement, Josuke uses his phone flashlight as he and the others venture through the old hallway.
"Wow, I never knew how big it was down here." Rohan looks around the room.
They approached a tall brick wall. Josuke flashes his light onto the wall,"Bingo! the lab entrance."
"But it's still closed. If my dad didn't open it, then where did he go?" said Koichi
Okuyasu walks over to the brick wall, "Ooh. maybe it's one of those doors where you push in a brick and it opens."
"Okuyasu, wait!" Josuke yelled. Okuyasu pushes one of the bricks and the wall collapses on them.
(all groaning) A muffled voice echoes "Koichi? Koichi, is that you? Can you hear me?" "Dad? is that you? I've finally found you." A shadowy figure approaches
"Huh? no, Koichi it's me." the shadow figure is revealed to be Kiwi, Kyoko and Yukako.
"Kiwi? Kyoko? Yukako? How did you find us?" "I located Okuyasu's phone and found out that you guys were here. Are you guys alright?" the girls helped them up.
Okuyasu wipes dust off his jacket, "yeah. we're okay. we're still trying to find Koichi's dad."
(bricks clattering) revealing Rohan holding his head and groaning. Minutes later, Josuke leads everyone in a line down a winding stairwell into an abandoned laboratory.
Josuke notices footprints on the ground, "Footprints? someone was just here." He followed the footprint trail with his phone light then spotted a piece of paper on the floor. "what's this?"
He grabs the paper and reads it, "Greetings!" "Someone wrote 'greetings' on this paper."
Koichi shrugs, "But why?" the hallucination monster pops up (in a demonic voice) You'll never know, Koichi." (screams) "Oh, no. You guys, it's happening again! my hallucinations are back! what should I do?!"
"Try to think of something else! something that makes you happy instead!" shouted Josuke
"like what?! Do something you guys!" Yukako glances around and rubs the back of her neck. She kisses Koichi. Koichi's expression softens as the hallucination monster gets engulfed into a green mist.
"Nooooo!" Bright light shines through cracks the monster's skin as he explodes. Green residue shimmers on Koichi.
"Oh my goodness." Koichi's eyes widened. "did that work?" Yukako asked
"Yeah. it...it did. (sighs in relief) my hallucinations are finally over." Koichi cheered
"Are you sure, Koichi? 'Cause you said that before." said Okuyasu "No, for real this time, Okuyasu. they are finally over."
Josuke glances down at the paper, "Hey you guys. About this paper, does anyone recognize this handwriting?"
Koichi grabs the paper and looks at it, (gasps) "Wait, this was written in my dad's handwriting! He was just here. Come on, guys. whoever has my dad, and removed those kids' brains was just here. so the question is, where did they go?"
at the Higashikata's residence. Josuke and the others sits around an evidence's board looking at the pictures one by one.
"my hallucinations are finally cured. Now, I can completely focus on finding my dad and the killer who took him." Koichi cheered
"But first we need to figure out why your dad left behind the word 'greetings' for us you to find." said Josuke
"Maybe, it might be the serial killer's license plate number." Okuyasu added
"Nah. it's gotta be something else." Josuke rubs his chin as he thinks. He snaps his fingers realizing something, "Wait, Greeting! General Greeting! But he's dead. So, if your dad wrote 'greetings' on this piece of paper, then whoever took him must have a connection with General Greeting."
"you think so, Josuke?" Koichi asked
"yeah. No doubt about it." said Josuke
(phone vibrating) Okuyasu looks at his phone and reads the text, (reading) "Oki pooh, Will you go to the Fog Festival with me?" "Aw, so cute. Kiwi sent me a fog posal via text."
Josuke raised an eyebrow, "A fog posal?"
"You know, like a promposal, but for Fog Fest." said Okuyasu
"Isn't that event that happens once a year when all of Morioh comes out to celebrate its world famous spookiest fog?" Josuke said
"yup. And they also pick a Fog King and Queen." said Okuyasu
Koichi exclaimed, "Wait, celebrate? How can this be happening with the serial killer still on the loose. what happened to curfew?"
"Turns out, curfew is over! Because they're saying that it's not actually a serial killer..." (in a spooky voice) "it's the ghost of Dr. Marco Kobato."
(lighting crashes) (thunder rumbles) Okuyasu holds up a newspaper. on the front cover it reads, 'My father was a mad scientist and he's back to finish his work!' written by Aiko Yamagishi.
"Yukako's mom went to the press? But this is crazy. people would rather believe in a ghost, than to stay inside for a few nights just so they can party?" said Koichi
"well, Look at the bright side, Koichi. At least the police aren't buying this ghost crap." said Okuyasu
(sirens blaring) "Attention, all of you wondering why the department has not yet caught the serial killer, is because it's a ghost and not because we're incompetent. Now, let's get ready to party!"
(all cheering) Josuke crossed his arms and glares (groaning)
at Budogaoka High school, (school bell rings) Koichi and Hazamada are talking at the lockers.
"Koichi, Come on. Yukako isn't the girl for you. She kept the secret that Dr. Marco Kobato was her grandfather hidden from you, which he's 100% a ghost who's killing our friends."
"I know, But despite everything that has happened, I still want to go to Fog Fest with her."
"Well, it's up to you what you wanna do Koichi." (school bell rings) "I got to go. See ya, Koichi."
(sighs) "yeah."
At night, at Higashikata's residence. Josuke carefully looked at an evidence's board. (sighs in exasperation) "Why would Koichi's dad write the word
'greetings'?"
(door opens) Tomoko and Blueto stand in the doorway, "Well, we're off to Fog Fest."
"Wait. you guys are going too?" Josuke asked
"Well of course, Josuke. I wanna get my party on tonight." Tomoko cheers
"Aren't you going with Kyoko to Fog Fest?" Blueto asked
Josuke palm slapped his face, "Dammit! I've been so wrapped up in this case that I totally forgot. she's gonna kill me."
"yeah. Hopefully, you can work that out." Tomoko closes the door. (car honks) From his bedroom window, Josuke spots Kyoko walking towards a black limousine
(phone beeping) He taps his phone screen. (phone vibrating) Outside, Kyoko sees Josuke's call.
(Josuke from inside the house) "Kyoko. Kyoko!" He slide opens his bedroom window. (dial tone ringing) "I can see you ignoring me."
Kyoko scoffs, "yeah, what's that like?" she gets inside the limo. The limo takes off.
"ugh! I guess" Josuke accidentally knocks over his bedroom lamp that sits on the nightstand. The lamp falls over and shines through the paper written 'greetings' on it.
"Huh?" He holds the paper closely up to the light. the message reads a phone number written in invisible ink. (gasps) "A phone number."
He takes out his phone and dials the number. (cell phone dialing) (dial tone ringing)
(cell phone ringing) (heavy breathing) Elsewhere, a gloved hand checks the phone.
(phone connects, heavy breathing) "Hello?" A foghorn can be heard in the background.
"Is this the serial killer?"
"you better not do anything to Koichi's dad nor to anyone else, cause if you do, I'll find you."
(phone disconnects) "Dammit, he hung up. okay, Josuke, What did you hear? There was a crowd, a roller coaster and a foghorn. Oh shit! the serial killer is at Fog Fest!"
At Fog Fest. Okuyasu guides Kiwi off a horse carriage, "My beautiful lady."
Kiwi blushes red, "aw."
(eerie music playing) the killer stands in the fog brandishing the knife. (knife slashes, heavy breathing)
(dance music playing) "Next!" Josuke approaches wearing a black tuxedo with a purple bow tie. He adjusts his bow tie and enters inside the Fog Festival.
"And now, to find this brain removing bastard." He looks around the amusement park and pulls out his phone, "Where is he? Where is the serial killer?" (dial tone ringing)
(cell phone ringing) Josuke spots the killer on the other side of the amusement park, "Bingo! there you are!" he chases after him then abruptly stops when the killer disappears
"Where'd that bastard run off to, now!" Josuke continues his search for the killer.
Kyoko watches him run, "Josuke?" she walks after him. In a gloom of fog, the killer emerges.
Meanwhile, Kiwi and Okuyasu are riding on the ferris wheel. The wheel abruptly stops at the top.
"what's going on? Why did we stop?" Kiwi asked
"don't worry, Kiwi. I paid the carny extra to keep us up here for a bit." said Okuyasu
"what? why?"
Okuyasu grabs her hands, "Kiwi, I have something very important to ask you."
she crossed her arms, "I told you I'm not dressing up as Mrs. Clause when we're making out."
"uh, no. Look, I'm so sorry for not being the best boyfriend at certain times and you deserve way better than that. So therefore, I'm making it up to you by asking you tonight here at Fog Fest...Kiwi, will you be my Fog Queen?"
Kiwi gasps in excitement. They kiss and the ferris wheel starts moving again.
Elsewhere in Fog Fest, Josuke holds his phone to his ear, "Ugh! well, at least I seem to have scared the serial killer away from Fog Fest."
A cloud of fog forms around Josuke then a hand reaches out and pulls him in revealing it to be Kyoko.
"Kyoko?!"
"Josuke? what the hell are you doing?"
He wears a nervous look , "What do you mean?"
Kyoko crossed her arms, "I mean I just saw you running minutes ago. what the hell is going on?"
"Look, the serial killer is here at Fog Fest and I'm trying to catch him before he kills somebody else."
"Ugh! it's a ghost, Josuke! there's no serial killer here."
"I can't believe that everyone thinks that this is some kind of joke. I know the difference between a ghost and an actual killer. And this is an actual killer that's killing actual people. And if I don't stop this bastard, he will waste no time finding his next target."
"I know exactly what this is about. you didn't want to go to Fog Fest with me. you wanted to go to Fog Fest just so you could do your own thing by catching a non-living person who's a 100% ghost. admitted Josuke, "you don't care about me."
"Kyoko, that's not true. I do care about you."
"Whatever. when you're done playing detective, you know where to find me." Kyoko backs away, then one of her heels gets stuck inside of the boardwalk wood almost falling backwards.
Josuke catches her at the last minute as the couple begin to gaze into each other's eyes. "You gotta be more careful." Kyoko gazes at him seductively. They lean in to kiss.
A dark shadow looms over them. (heavy breathing)
(gasps) "Josuke!" Kyoko screams as grabs him. the killer stands at attention and grabs Kyoko's ankle (screams)
Josuke roundhouse kicks him in the head and grabs Kyoko by her hand and runs off. The killer then pulls out his knife and chases after them.
(roaring) (Kyoko screams)
The killer eventually grabs Josuke and raises his knife trying to stab him. As fog pulls in, the killer's knife suddenly disappears and sprints after Josuke and Kyoko.
(both gasping, panting)
They run through an old western town. Josuke looks at one of the wax figures dressed in a cowboy outfit then gets an idea. The killer abruptly stops running and walks through the western town and passes by Josuke and Kyoko who are dressed in western clothing.
The killer runs off as Josuke and Kyoko run off the other way. The killer spots them and chases after them. Elsewhere in Fog Fest, Kiwi and Okuyasu are wearing their Fog king and queen crowns while they're walking and talking. Okuyasu eats a hotdog.
Kiwi crossed her arms, "I can't believe that you would show out like that at the dance."
"Look at the bright side of it, Kiwi. At least we've got our Fog crowns!" said Okuyasu
Josuke and Kyoko collide with Okuyasu and Kiwi. The killer raises his knife as fog brushes in. (roaring; screaming) the killer vanishes as the fog clears.
"He just disappeared into the fog." Kyoko said
Josuke pulls out his phone, "Yeah, but that bastard still has to be nearby." (dial tone ringing)
(cell phone ringing) the phone sits on top of Okuyasu's head. (all gasp) "Wait, Okuyasu has his phone?"
"Huh?" Okuyasu takes the phone off of his head. (gasps) "MY FOG KING CROWN!"
"He must've swapped Okuyasu's crown with his phone instead. Dammit, this bastard is tricky to catch." said Josuke.
"He not only took my crown, he also took my hotdog! I didn't finish eating it." Okuyasu whimpers
"Damn! I was so close to convince the town to keep a curfew to protect them from the serial killer." said Josuke
"But you do have the serial killer's cell phone, and I know you're gonna catch him and find Koichi's dad." Kyoko smiles
Josuke grabs her by the waist and pulls her closer to him, "And after that, I will focus on the things that you wanna do. Like, taking you out for dinner."
"I love that." The couple gazed into each other's eyes standing underneath the entrance as fog rolls in.
(clown cackling) later, inside the fun house. Hazamada walks past several distorted mirrors as he laughs and checks himself out.
"Damn girl. How'd you get all that ass inside them jeans?" He takes a few steps backwards. The killer appears behind him. (screaming)
uh, oh. The killer just appeared at Fog Fest and Josuke and the others were almost close to finding out who's the monster behind the mask. Will they be able to figure it out?
