fight in a war of this magnitude." Bard
"We have weapons a plenty, and my company can train your able bodied men to fight. We will do our best to help you prepare in what little time we have left." Thorin
"Thank you I will go get every able bodied man, and tell them of the situation." Bard
Thorin nods to Bard, and then returns to preparing for war.
After Thorin has finished his war preparations he goes to talk to Balin and Kili about this most delicate matter, and when he finds them Thorin says.
"Kili we need to talk about you and Tauriel, and Balin you need to be here as well." Thorin
"What is it uncle?" Kili
"Faron has asked for The War Time Exemption to be used on your and Tauriel's relationship, and I have approved the use of The War Time Exemption. You will be married within the hour." Thorin
"I will get the necessary paperwork drawn up immediately. Kili Lad you need to go make the marriage bead, or it won't be ready in time for the wedding." Balin
Kili nods, and goes to the forges to get to work on the marriage bead for Tauriel as well as the gold rings for the wedding. An hour later Kili arrives in the Throne room dressed in the finest clothes he could find in the mountain, and sees Tauriel wearing the most beautiful dress he has ever seen. Thorin begins the ceremony, and the couple are happily married with all those present as witnesses. Then all those present return to the preparations for War.
When Dain gets to the mountain Thorin goes out to meet him, because he couldn't tell him that they are allied with the elves again by raven. Though Dain is unhappy about it Dain also sees the necessity of the alliance due to the gravity of the situation. Dain has his troops assist in preparing the Men of Dale for the war, and by the middle of the day they have done all they can to prepare then the hills to the side of the mountain begin to shake, and out of them come giant rock eating worms called Were-worms. The Were-worms retreat into the tunnels, and the expected Orc army begins pouring out of the tunnels. The standing armies clash with Azog's army, and are killing a great many Orcs. Azog sees this then orders the deployment of the war beasts, and the horn giving the order wakes Smaug from his nap on the shore of Long Lake. Within a couple of wing beats Smaug is over the battle field, and Smaug can see the Free Peoples are severely out numbered by the armies of the enemy. Smaug looks at the tower, and sees Azog the Defiler get a disgustingly smug look on his face at his arrival. Smaug decides to wipe that look off his face by destroying his war beasts. With every troll that Smaug burns Azog becomes more and more terrified, and the Orc commander knows that as soon as he has finished incinerating all of the trolls he will be going after his solders next.
Two of the Three Kings are not at all surprised by this development since they already knew about the cleansing of Smaug, but Thranduil is the most shocked that he has ever been in his life to see a Dragon fighting with the Free Peoples instead of against them. Thranduil pushes the feeling aside, and focuses on the fight with the determination to find out what is going on when they have more time. Bard and Thorin are glad that Azog woke Smaug from his nap likely by blowing that massive horn, and his arrival has turned the tide of the war in their favor. As they are fighting Smaug destroys the last of the trolls Azog orders the war machines to be brought out, and Smaug turns his attention to destroying those. The Dwarves, Men, and Elves continue fighting with renewed hope for victory, but the Orcs just keep coming, and they know that something is going to have to be done if they are going to win this war. Smaug sees the army begin marching in the direction of Dale, and burns the troops that Azog sent in that direction. This angers Azog to no end especially when Smaug goes back to destroying the war machines as soon as he has finished off the troops marching to attack Dale, and Azog knows that he cannot spare anymore troops to attack Dale if he is to have any chance of winning this war.
Dain and Thorin realize that there are to many Orcs even with the help of Smaug, and looking around Thorin comes up with a plan to bring this war to a decisive end. Thorin tells Dain that he, and some of his company are going to go to Ravenhill, and kill Azog leaving the Orcs leaderless. Charlotte jumps on the Ram with Thorin, but divine providence warns her to be careful with what she does. While they are talking about this Dwalin, Balin, Fílí, Kílí, Tauriel, and Faron drive up in one of Dain's war machines, and as Thorin orders them to charge to Ravenhill Fili tells Tauriel that it is to dangerous for her to be near Orcs that are determined to wipe out their bloodline. Tauriel tells Fili that she has taken extra precautions, and everything will be just fine. On the way there two of the Rams pulling the Chariot are killed by wargs, but they continue on after killing the pursuing warg-riders. They realize that because of the amount of weight they are pulling they will never make it so Balin tells them to cut the tracers, and ride the Rams to Ravenhill. Fíli gets on the front Ram with Faron behind him then cuts the Ram loose, Dwalin takes the next one, and Kílí takes the last one with Tauriel behind him. Thorin sees this, and says.
"Onwards." Thorin
"Lead on!" Dwalin
The sons of Durin along with Tauriel begin fighting their way up Ravenhill, and when they get to the top everyone gets off the Rams, and continues fighting the Orcs on the watch tower. In the battle Charlotte is making full use of the battle magic her and her father spent a century developing.
Back in Dale Legolas rides into the city killing Orcs as he goes. When he sees Gandalf he gets off his horse, and says.
"Gandalf!" Legolas
"Legolas, Legolas Greenleaf." Gandalf
"There is a second Army. Bolg leads a force of Gundabad Orcs. They are almost upon us." Legolas
"Gundabad? This was their plan all along. Azog engages our forces then Bolg sweeps in from the North." Gandalf
"The North. Where is the North exactly?" Bilbo
"Ravenhill." Gandalf
"Ravenhill. Thorin is up there, and Fílí and Kílí. They're all up there, and Faron, Charlotte, and Tauriel are with them." Bilbo
At the mention of Faron and Tauriel's names Legolas immediately looks toward the soon to be over run outpost.
Back on Ravenhill all of the Orcs they can find have been killed, and they are looking around for their prey. The tower looks abandoned, and Kílí suggests that Azog has fled. To which Thorin says.
"I don't think so." Thorin
"Fílí take your brother and Tauriel scout out the towers. Keep low, and out of sight if you see something report back do not engage. Do you understand?" Thorin
"We have company. Goblin mercenaries no more than a hundred." Dwalin
"We'll take care of them go, Go!" Thorin
The three of them begin running toward the towers, and when they are far enough away from the goblins they begin sneaking their way into the towers.
Back in Dale Legolas sees his father withdrawing the troops with the enemy still undefeated, and stands in his way saying.
"You will go no further. You will not turn away not this time." Legolas
"Get out of my way!" Thranduil
"No I'm beginning to see that my sister was right about you. You are a coward who would let The Darkness descend while secluding yourself within walls of stone." Legolas
"I am no coward I simply refuse to spend anymore of our peoples blood in defence of this land." Thranduil
"Father this enemy must be defeated for the good of all the people of the North. You know as well as I that if we don't stop it here our home will be the next one to be attacked." Legolas
Thranduil thinks for a moment, and concedes the point by redeploying his troops against the enemy. Seeing this Legolas turns and leaves to go to Ravenhill to save Tauriel, and anyone else that he can with the hope that he is able to get there in time.
On Ravenhill Fílí, Kílí, and Tauriel are looking around in the towers when Fílí tells them to split up. Fili is gone before Tauriel can stop him. Tauriel follows after Kili searching the lower levels like they were instructed to, and find the lower levels to be clear. They are standing under an over hang when they hear Faron say.
"Father." Faron
They can see her stop, and look at Ravenhill, Faron cries out.
"Fili!" Faron
"This one dies first. Then the brother. Then the she elf. Then you Oakenshield will dies last." Azog
"No! RUN!" Fili
"Here ends your filthy bloodline!" Azog
Kili and Tauriel watch as Fílí's dead body falls to the ground in front of them. Kili and Tauriel tare up the stairs, Faron runs after them yelling Kili's name. Charlotte had to watch the whole thing helpless to do anything to stop it. She also watches Thorin run after Faron, but stays to continue fighting with Dwalin. When Dwalin has his fight in hand he tells Charlotte to go find Faron. When Charlotte finds Faron there are Orcs charging at them, and Charlotte sees Thorin and Faron fighting the Orcs with Legolas covering them.
The three of them see Bolg Spawn of Azog roll down the mountainside, and Tauriel is falling with him. The elves present see as she lands on a broken staircase. Bolg has landed near her; he rises and prepares to kill her. Faron runs in that direction with her weapons ready, and Charlotte follows after her. Bolg gives Faron an evil grin before he can do anything everyone's attention turns to Legolas who is standing on a tower that has fallen creating a bridge on the chasm behind them. Legolas jumps onto it. Faron ducks down as Bolg growls before charging onto the tower. Faron runs over to her sister-in-law, and says.
"Tauriel? Tauriel, can you hear me?" Faron
"Faron?" Tauriel
"Yes. I'm here. Can you stand?" Faron
She nods silently before standing shakily with Faron's help. The three elves hear crumbling coming from behind them, turning they see Legolas falling to the floor of the tower with Bolg standing above him. Seeing this Faron says.
"Tauriel, go to Kili, I'll stay here." Faron
Tauriel looks to Faron for a moment before nodding, and running back up the mountain.
Charlotte watches as events unfold until suddenly Bolg leaps out of the rubble, swinging for Legolas. Legolas pushes Faron back while dodging as he pulls out his knives, and says.
"Faron, stay back." Legolas
Faron stands back with her daggers ready in case Legolas needs her help. Faron watches Legolas fight Bolg, and is in awe of him as he leaps at Bolg. As they are fighting Legolas stabs at him, but Bolg grabs the knife between his arm and his armor. Legolas just smiles as he uses the knife as leverage to swing atop Bolg's shoulders; he then stabs Bolg through the top of the head with the glacial knife Charlotte gave him killing him; Legolas leaps back onto land as the bridge falls to the ground, carrying Bolg's body with it. Faron sighs in relief as Legolas walks over to her, and she says.
"Are you alright?" Faron
"I am fine. What about you? He did not hurt you did he?" Legolas
"No he did not." Faron
Faron is most definitely attracted to him as Legolas places his hands on her shoulders. Faron looks like she is going to ignore her feelings, but when she sees the look on Charlotte's face Faron decides not to do that. He gives Faron a relieved smile as they climb up the mountain with Charlotte following them. When they reach the top, and he sees Tauriel is not there he calls out saying.
"Tauriel!" Legolas
Faron puts a comforting hand on his arm, and says.
"It is fine. She is safe. I asked her to help my brother while I stay with you." Faron
"Why did you stay with me and not help him?" Legolas
"Tauriel was to injured to help you. I did not think she would survive if she was to go against Bolg. I am not as injured, I would have...unless he killed me that is." Faron
Legolas nods, and says.
"Thank you." Legolas
With a smile Faron says.
"Well it turns out you did not have the need for me after all." Faron
Legolas chuckles, and says.
"Maybe not. But the thought was well appreciated." Legolas
Faron smiles at Legolas, but before she can respond they hear a loud screeching in the air. The three of them look up, and Faron smiles as she sees the Eagles. Radagast is flying the Eagle in the lead, and they see Beorn riding another, and Faron says.
"I have a feeling victory is at hand." Faron
"Maybe you are right." Legolas
Legolas turns to Faron, and says.
"What do you plan to do if that is the case?" Legolas
"I stay. My Father will become King and I will stay and my little brother and I will be by his side." Faron
Legolas nods, and says.
"That sounds like a wonderful plan." Legolas
"What of you? Will you return to Mirkwood?" Faron
"I do not know. Home is not the same as it once was. I do not think I could stay." Legolas
"Well, there will always be a place for you here, if you wish." Faron
Legolas gives a short laugh before turning to Faron, and saying.
"I am sure your Father would not agree." Legolas
"Oh I don't know. I can be quite persuasive with him." Faron
Faron's reply is cut off by a roar of pain, and Faron looks up paling instantly in recognition of the voice, and Faron says.
"Father!" Faron
Faron climbs the side of the mountain with Charlotte and Legolas following her, and when she gets to the top she sees her Father laid out on the other side of the frozen river with Bilbo next to him. Faron runs over to him screaming.
"FATHER!" Faron
Bilbo looks up as Faron collapses at her Father's side. Faron looks at Thorin, and says.
"Father?" Faron
Thorin turns to Faron, smiles weakly, and says.
"Faron...thank Mahal...you are safe." Thorin
Faron begins trying to save Thorin, and says.
"And so are you. You are going to live Father." Faron
Thorin holds Faron's hands and takes them away from the wound saying.
"It is too late, Faron...the damage is done...I am to join your mother." Thorin
"No...please, do not leave me father." Faron
"I am sorry, my daughter...Fili is dead...Erebor is Kili's...help him...stay by his side..." Thorin
"I promise father." Faron
Thorin smiles, and raises a hand to Faron's cheek saying.
"Find Kili...tell him-tell him and Dis...I am sorry...take care of them." Thorin
Faron nods, and Thorin turns to Bilbo, and says.
"Farewell, Master Burglar...Go back to your books and your arm chair. Plant your trees...watch them
