One Month Later, Hicca's hut
It has been a month since her fight and since she gained the rank of Chiefess Champion. She now is used to getting the most food and she doesn't have to fight so much except to fight others for her rank. None have challenged her for that rank, so she has not had a fight since Stoick tried to kill her. However, she is scheduled for several fights and for potential mates. Her friends now live with her and so do her peers except Ash who still hates her for taking the rank of Chiefess Champion. Hicca has been looking all around and since she gets the biggest nest box of everyone, she welcomes her friends and her gardens. After she recovered, she has been flying around looking for a way to escape and so far, she has found none. But she is determined to find one and to get herself and friends out of here. Right now, Hicca is watching all of Berk right now and the other owls who live here. As she watches she sees Toothless come flying to her.
Toothless has become a high-ranking champion next to Hicca and many respect the young owl. He is taken for fights the most and many want Hicca to take him as his mate. Hicca moves over to allow him to land next to her and she gives him a smile. She asks, "How was the fight?" Toothless responds, "The fight was long and hard. But I am back like I promised." Hicca nuzzles into his side and Toothless wraps a wing around her pulling her close. After some time, they go inside the nest box where they are greeted by Stormfly and the other owls. While they head inside Gobber comes hobbling up and says, "Hicca I found a way for you and your friends to escape. Gothi nods and Hicca moves forward asking, "How do we get out of here?" Gobber says, "When the human comes to feed us you and the others will need to go at the same time. Otherwise, you miss your chance."
Toothless with concern, "They will catch us if we try that." Gobber then says, "Only one human comes to feed us at any given time. The door they have will be open. Once you get out, follow the sun, you will find a place called "Haven". Once you get there you will be free of this place." Hicca jumps up and down and says to Stormfly excitedly, "Go get everyone. We have a way out. We leave next feeding time." Stormfly nods and heads off to find the others. Hicca looks to her guardian and realizes something, "You are not coming with us, are you?" Hicca asks softly and Gobber says, "I can't fly lass. You have a chance to get out." Hicca hugs Gobber and cries. Gobber wraps his one remaining wing around her then says, "When you are free so will I." Hicca pulls back with tears in her eyes nods and says, "I will come back for you. One way or another you will be free."
Gobber just smiles and that is when Stormfly comes back with the others and she says, "We are ready Hicca. We saw that a human is coming. If we are going to leave, we need to leave now." Hicca nods and Gothi comes up and says, "We will miss you all. Be strong Hicca. Always look forward." Hicca nods and turns to leave with the others. Hicca stands in front with Toothless next to her. Hicca looks back at Gobber and Gothi and then the cage door opens. Hicca screeches and the group takes off. Everyone was able to escape but Hicca was grabbed by Ash. Toothless flies back for her telling the others to keep going. Hicca tries to escape but can't escape Ash's talons. Ash pins her down again then says, "I will now have my revenge. Goodbye weakling." He raises his talons but before he could strike, he is shoved off. Hicca gets up and its Gothi wings outstretched and ready to fight.
Hicca tries to move to help but Gothi yells, "No Hicca! You have a chance to escape! Go now before it is too late!" Ash then attacks Gothi but Gothi jumps up and they lock talons. Hicca sees that the door is closing and with a heavy heart she takes off with Toothless flying by her side. She manages to evade capture but as she looks back, she sees Ash strike Gothi down. She cries and tries to turn back but Toothless grabs her and they leave. They manage to get out the door before it closes, and they meet up with the others.
Once outside Toothless lets Hicca go and together leave the band away from that hell hole. The group of owls continues to fly ways away. After flying for a few hours, the group lands in a large tree to rest. Hicca lands and lets her tears fall from her eyes and Toothless lands next to her wrapping a wing around her. The others watch and Hicca says, "Gothi died saving me." Her tears continue to fall, and the others bow their heads in silence. They all respected Gothi and will miss her greatly. After some time Hicca calms down and that is when Stormfly comes over and asks, "What now?" Hicca wipes her tears away and says, "We look for Haven. Gobber and Gothi talked about it. We will be safe there." Stormfly nods and Fishlegs then asks, "How do we find this place?" Hicca answers, "We follow the sun. We rest today and begin tomorrow." Fishlegs nods his head then goes to sit with Meatlug and the others. Toothless nuzzles her and on his back is Sharpshot who Hicca is happy to see again. Sharpshot climbs from Toothless to Hicca and gets comfortable for the rest of the day.
By morning the group wakes up and everyone heads out to hunt for breakfast. Once everyone eats, Hicca is watching the sun rise. She turns to the others and says, "I don't know how far Haven is. I won't keep you all. That is where I am going. If you want to come with me, you can. Otherwise, you are free to take your own path." The group look at each other and Stormfly says, "I am with you Hicca. So is my brother." Hookfang steps forward then Meatlug steps up with Fishlegs next to her. The two sets of twins also step up and Snotlout says, "I respect you Hicca. I will follow your lead." He steps up with the others and Hicca is surprised and that is when Toothless says, "We are with you Hicca. Lead the way." Hicca smiles at him then at the others then she turns to face the sun. Hicca spreads her wings and takes off from the branch. The others follow Hicca, and they all follow the sun towards a new home and towards freedom.
Three Years Later
A young female barn owl is flying on strong wings. Her features show a young survivor who has seen many fights but still holds kindness. Flying next to her is a pitch-black barn owl with toxic green eyes who follows closely. Behind them is another barn owl who has tan feathers, with yellow feathers on her head, and blue on her wing feathers and the tips of her tail feathers. Behind her is a red feathered barn owl with black feathers painted on. Next to Hookfang is Snotlout who like the others is a barn owl his feathers are tan, but he has green and red painted feathers. On his head feathers he has a few black feathers that are also painted. Behind him is the first set of twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut, they both are tan barn owls. Tuffnut has three green feathers on his head while his sister, Ruffnut only has two green feathers. Beside them is the other set of twins Barf and Belch. Barf still has darker feathers, and his sister Belch is lighter in color. The two sets of twins are barn owls like the rest of the group. Flying slightly above them is Fishlegs who is an all-brown barn owl with his flight feathers being a lighter color. Next to him is Meatlug who is also an all brown with a few patches on her body being lighter in color.
The band of barn owls have flown together for the last three years and have become close. Hicca has become the group's leader with Toothless being next in charge. Right now, they all are still following the sun to Haven. Hicca believes they are close to finding it. The others are starting to believe the place does not exist, but they know they are free to leave the group when they want. Right now, they are flying over a massive lake. Hicca yells, "Once we cross the lake, we will find a place to land for the night. Gives us a chance to rest and hunt." The others nod and they all continue their flight. After about ten minutes they reach large trees and the group land on branches. Hicca and Toothless land together and the others land randomly. Snotlout says, "Man. Feels good to rest the wings and talons." He stretches out and relaxes against the trunk of the tree. The others nod in agreement and rest their wings.
They are in a forest that is full and lush with no humans in sight. The group have continued sparring with each other to keep their skills up. Hicca has become the best fighter in the group and the only owl who can beat her is Toothless. Stormfly gets close to winning but even she can't win. Sharpshot sits on Hicca's back and has gotten off to find food on the tree they landed on. After a few hours the sun sets and the group have separated on their own hunting trips. By midnight the group return after their hunts and sleep the rest of the night.
Just before the sun rises Hicca and Toothless are flying together. They fly high into the sky, twirling around in a dance. They face their bellies to each other than lock talons and begin to free fall. The pair hold talons until the last moment. At the last second, they separate and fly up folding their wings to their sides. Hicca flies higher up with Toothless closer behind her. The sun is beginning to rise now and Toothless asks, "Should we get back to the other's love?" Hicca responds, "Let's fly a few more moments together before we go back." Toothless nods and the pair fly in silence. Hicca fly's a bit further ahead and that is when she stops dead in her tracks. She stops so fast Toothless almost crashes into her but was able to veer to the side before he hits her. He asks, "Hicca what is it?" Hicca looks ahead and Toothless looks where she is looking. He is stunned by what he sees and Hicca says, "We need to show the others." Then she takes off to find the group. Toothless follows behind her and together they find the group waking up and getting ready to continue. Hicca says, "Guys! You have to see this! Hurry!"
She takes off in a hurry and Toothless waits for the others to take off. Stormfly takes off first then yells, "Let's go guys! I want to see what she has found!" She follows Hicca with her brother close behind. The two sets of twins take off with Meatlug and Fishlegs bring up the rear Sharpsot rides on Meatlug's back. Toothless takes off once everyone is in the air and catches up with Hicca. He does catch up and finds everyone hovering and staring in the distance. He goes next to Hicca and Stormfly and he hears Stormfly ask, "Have we found it?" Hicca answers, "I think so. It has to be." Hookfang then says, "I have never seen so many different owls in one place." Toothless looks and even he says, "I even see others who look like me." Hicca responds, "We finally found our new home. We found Haven."
Hicca then starts to fly towards the place with the others close to her. About halfway they are stopped by a pair of barn owls each wearing a set of battle claws. The group stops and the smaller of the pair, a female, demands, "Who are you?" Hicca responds, "We are looking for a new home. We have traveled a long way." The female looks at her and her eyes go wide. The female asks, "Could it be? After all these years? How is this possible?" Hicca asks, "Should I know you?" The female responds softly, "No. You were only an egg." Hicca looks confused then the female says, "But a mother never forgets." Hicca is shocked and the female quiets her down then looks at the male with her. She looks back at the group and says, "Come." The female takes off with the male next to her. Hicca follows the pair while the other owls are just as shocked.
