Just outside of Haven
Hicca has been keeping pace with the pair that is in front of the whole group. Hicca yells out, "You're my mother!?" The pair keep ahead only looking back to make sure the group is following them. The others are shocked and struggle to keep up. Toothless is in front behind Hicca while Hicca is leading the way. The now revealed owl who is Hicca's mother just says, "Come quick." Hicca growls in frustration and yells, "I have questions!" The pair in front dive down and the others dive after and Hicca loses sight of them and when she looks up to land she is in awe. The others land behind her and also look in awe. All around they see hundreds of other owls flying around.
They see a massive tree in the center and at the base there is ice and all around the tree are large cliff sides. She can also see many caves as well as several waterfalls with owls near the bottom where the pools are. Toothless looks around and that is when they hear a hoot. Hicca looks up to see her mother and the other owl looking down at them. They are hanging off vines that are growing from the rocks. Hicca then says, "This is where you have been? All this time?" Her mother nods and Hicca looks down and whispers, "Unbelievable." Her mother asks, "You're not upset?" Hicca looks back at her with a glare, "Upset? Not at all. After all, you abandoned me when I was an egg. You left me to die by my father's talons."
Her mother climbs down being followed by her companion, and she says, "You don't understand. Stoick was a brute. He was cruel to me." Hicca lets her tears fall then demands, "Why did you leave me behind? You owe me at least that much." Her mother nods looking down and the other owl comes forward and he says, "Let's go to our nest. We can talk there." Hicca nods and he turns to Hicca's mother and says, "Be honest with her Valka. She deserves to know everything." Valka nods and says, "I will tell you everything you want to know." Valka then heads to her nest with Hicca following her. Toothless and the others try to follow but they are stopped. Toothless glares and the male says, "Let them talk alone. I will stand here until they come back." Toothless stomps his foot and says, "Fine. We will wait. But if Hicca calls us, we will go to her." The male nods his head and the group wait for Hicca and Valka to come back.
Valka's Nest
Mother and daughter land inside the nest, which is cozy and, in some way, reminds Hicca of Gothi's nest. Valka removes her battle claws and puts them on a stand then turns to Hicca and asks, "What do you want to know?" Hicca asks, "Why did you leave me behind? Did you hate me so much that you wanted me dead?" Valka answers, "I believed you would be like Stoick. It was selfless of me to assume you would be like him. I was afraid and I wanted to leave that part of my life behind." Hicca thinks for a while and Valka continues, "I never loved your father. It was a forced mating. I did try to leave when I was still carrying you." Valka looks away and Hicca asks, "You left my egg with Gothi. Why?" Valka asks, "She is still alive?" Hicca shakes her head no, "She was killed while me and friends escaped. I would not be free now if she had not saved me." Valka cries a bit and Hicca asks again, "Why did you leave me with Gothi?"
Valka answers not looking at Hicca, "After I laid your egg, I told Gothi to look after you. Since I was leaving. I know I have no right to ask you for forgiveness and I won't ask." She takes a deep breath then she looks at Hicca and continues, "I was a coward, and I did not want to look at a hatchling that was made from fear and hate. I tried to hate you, but I couldn't. You are innocent in this world. I have no right to be your mother." Hicca answers, "You're right. You are not my mother. You are an owl who laid my egg. If anyone is my mother, it is Gothi and now she is dead." Hicca walks out of the nest but stops turning her head slightly and says, "I can't forgive you." She turns and takes off leaving Valka in tears and that is when her companion comes in and asks, "Are you alright Valka?" She answers, "No Cloudjumper. I am not. She is right about everything." Cloudjumper goes over and nuzzles her then holds her with his wing.
Near the hot spring
The group were led by Cloudjumper to a hot spring while they waited for Hicca to finish talking to her mother. Toothless is looking around looking for her form. The others are relaxing in the pool all talking about how beautiful this place is and how happy they are to find this. Stormfly stands over next to Toothless and says, "She will be fine Toothless." Toothless replies, "I worry about her." Stormfly says, "We all are. But she is strong." Toothless nods in agreement and they see Hicca fly overhead looking upset. Stormfly says, "Go after her. I will keep an eye on the others. We will wait for you here." Toothless bumps her head gently and takes off after Hicca. Stormfly watches them and Fishlegs asks, "Where did Toothless go?" Stormfly answers, "He is going after Hicca. We will need to wait for them to come back. For now, we will sit here and wait for them to come back." Fishlegs nods and sits back down with Meatlug and Hookfang suggests they have a sparring contest. The others agree and they begin their contest.
With Hicca and Toothless
Hicca is flying in a random direction avoiding the other flying owls despite the tears in her eyes. She finds a place to land and lets her tears fall freely from her eyes. Toothless was able to keep up with her and landed just to see her in tears. He just goes up to her and wraps his wings around her and she cries into his chest. He holds her for a while until her cries become sniffling and her sniffling becomes silent. Toothless holds her close and Hicca listens to his heartbeat. After more moments together Hicca pulls away and Toothless asks, "Did you get the answers you want?" Hicca replies, "Just disappointed. I thought I would be happy to get the answers I want. But now." Toothless nods and nuzzles her head then he looks up to see the sky beginning to darken. He then says, "The stars are coming out. Want to go on a night flight?" Hicca nods and the pair take off. The rest of the group sees them, and they smile knowing that Toothless can make Hicca feel better.
The pair fly in the sky under the stars and the moon slowly comes out to join the stars in a dance. Hicca looks at the stars as she feels the wind in her face. Toothless flyers close to her, and they fly around each other. They dive down together then fly back up swirling around each other. When they get to the top of their dance, they lock talons and free fall. Before they hit the ground they pull away and fly side by side. The moon is full and bright, the stars shine even more. Toothless says, "Night flights with you are always beautiful." Hicca nods and says, "It is." She looks at him and says, "Thank you Toothless." He smiles and the pair go back and meet up with the others who greet them. Stormfly hugs Hicca and Hicca hugs her back. The group huddles together and falls asleep. Toothless and Hicca cuddle close together then fall asleep.
Watching the group is Valka and Cloudjumper. Valka says, "She won't forgive me. I know she won't." Cloudjumper answers, "Maybe she will. But what you did hurt her greatly." Valka nods then she says, "I should have brought her with me. But I was selfless and only thought of myself." Cloudjumper bumps her gently and says, "Let's go speak with the King. Maybe he can give some advice and of course we tell him that a band of owls who arrived." Valka nods and says, "Perhaps he will know what to do." Valka takes off and Cloudjumper follows her. The pair fly up to the top of the tree and go into a large opening.
With the Group
The group wakes up to find Hicca and Toothless missing but that is normal as they go flying to see the sun rise and set or after the sun sets. Hookfang takes watch to look out for them with Stormfly. Meatlug and Fishlegs are talking and planning on what they can learn while they are here. The two sets of twins are busy headbutting each other. Tuffnut and Ruffnut charge and slam into each other then they both fall onto their backs. Barf and Belch help them up and that is when Tuff says, "Hey when are Tooth and Hic coming back?" Fishlegs answers, "They will be back soon. You know they always fly when the sun rises." Tuffnut groins and after a few moments the group is approached by Valka and Cloudjumper. Everyone stands up and looks at them and Valka looks around and asks, "Where is my daughter?"
Before anyone could respond Hicca voice answers, "I am not your daughter." Valka turns to see Hicca and Toothless land. Hicca then says, "Why are you here?" Toothless walks up next to his angry mate ignoring Valka's hurt look. Valka does not speak but Cloudjumper steps up and says, "We told our King that you have arrived. He wishes to meet you all." The group is weary and Snotlout says, "Why? So, he can make us fight to the death?" Cloudjumper looks at him and defends, "Our King is kind and wise. You best not be disrespectful." Snotlout rolls his eyes and Hookfang says, "Yeah. Sorry. Where we came from, we are forced to fight to the death." Fishlegs nods his head, "It was a land of kill or be killed." Valka nods and both Barf and Belch say together, "Hicca was titled as Chiefess Champion after she defeated her father."
Valka looks to Hicca and asks, "You defeated Stoick in combat?" Hicca answers coldly, "He tried to kill me. I only defend myself." Valka goes up to him to see scares from talons and was going to touch them with her wing, but Hicca backs up. Toothless steps up and says, "Don't touch my mate." Valka backs up then sighs, "We will lead you to the King. Please follow myself and Cloudjumper." She turns to take off and Cloudjumper says to Hicca, "I'm sorry for everything you all have been through. Please follow us." He takes off after Valka. Hicca watches them and Ruffnut walks up to the pair and asks, "Should we follow them?" Hicca sighs and nods then takes off. Toothless turns to the group and says, "Let's go guys. We stay together." He then follows Hicca followed by Ruffnut and her brother. The others take off one by one. Meatlug flies up to Stormfly and asks, "Something feels off. I don't think we can relax." Stormfly answers, "Then we keep our guard up and eyes open. For now we will need to see what this King of theres is all about."
Meatlug nods her head and falls back to fly next to Fishlegs and soon the whole group reaches the top of the tree. They fly inside a large opening and while they fly, they see many other owls with battle talons on. The armored owls watch the group closely and they fly down to the center of the large tree. The whole way is lit up with hot coals that are always burning. They land behind Valka and Cloudjumper with Hicca landing in front of the group and Toothless next to her. They watch as Valka and Cloudjumper bow and extend their wings out to cover their heads. The band of owls follow their example and bow as well. They hear a voice say, "You may rise." The group rise and they see Valka and Cloudjumper move to sit next to a large owl that has on battle talons and on his head is a metal crown. That covers his whole head but his face is visible. He is standing tall from his perch, and he looks at the group with kindness.
The King has brown feathers with a few single feathers that are black throughout his body, his eyes are a golden yellow, and on his face is white feathers that look like an X. The band look at him then at each other and the King says, "Welcome to Haven young ones. Valka has told me you all came a long way." Hicca nods and that is when Snotlout walks up and says, "Yeah. We flew a long way. Now why are we here?" Stormfly looks at him harshly and the King just chuckles and says, "You still have much to learn." Snotlout just shrugs and Hicca says, "Snotlout. Enough." Snotlout takes a few steps back and Hicca looks at the King. The King looks at Hicca and says, "I can see that the daughter of Valka has come to us." Hicca looks at Valka and says, "With all due respect, Valka is not my mother." Valka looks down and the King says, "I mean no offense to you young one." Hicca looks at him then Toothless asks, "Why are we here your majesty?"
The King answers, "I would like to offer you all a home here. A safe place to live." Toothless nods then he continues, "And to offer you all a chance to join a Den." The group is confused and Ruffnut asks, "What Den?" The King waves his wing to Cloudjumper and Cloudjumper explains, "A Den is a family and each Den has a job they do. Each owl who comes here finds their place here with a Den." Hicca asks, "Do we have to join a Den?" The King answers, "Some owls learn from several Den's but not join one. I am sure you all will find a place." Hicca nods and Valka says, "We would like for you all to find your place. Find a home here." The group look at each other and Toothless asks, "If we agree to live here where will we live?" Before the King could answer a commotion was heard outside. Before the group moved the King orders, "Cloudjumper, Valka go see what is happening." They bow and quickly take off as do a number of other owls. Fishlegs asks, "What is happening?" The King says, "Stay here." He then takes off to see what is happening.
Belch asks, "Are we going to stay put or?" Barf then says, "I think we should go." Ruffnut and Tuffnut bounce on their talons ready for fun. Hookfang and Stormfly get ready to take off but wait for Hicca or Toothless's word. Fishlegs and Meatlug wait and look at the others. Hicca says, "Let's go see what is happening." Hicca takes off with the others following her. When they leave, they are shocked at what they see.
