Yo guys I'm here again to post this new chapter! This will be long and I hope you will be all enjoy reading this to the end.
Chapter 22: Battle For Albion
(Royal Palace Of Tristain)
A whole day had passed since the palace incident. Henrietta manage to take the situation under control after the aftermath with her servants to clean out the entire palace of any signs of the battle the ensues just recently. Now as everything goes back to normal Henrietta summons the envoy at the throne room with some nobles present as witnesses for the talk regarding about their unfinished negotiation.
"Your majesty I hope you already have a decision about our offer of diplomatic relations between your kingdom and us royalists." Norman spokes resuming the negotiation that was discontinued thanks to some intruders.
"Yes but before I give my answer I would like to ask you something." Henrietta replied with questioning.
"What is it your majesty?" Norman asked in polite.
"Can you guarantee that your forces can beat Reconquista without aid from us?" Henrietta asked in a simple but serious question. It's whether they accept this diplomacy or not it will be through his answer, due to being still has issues since the royalists are now just a rebel group and not an official state. Norman understood their circumstances if they want some assurance in this diplomacy.
"Of course your majesty, I can assure you that our war with Reconquista will be victorious. As a matter of fact we already in preparations to launch a full scale assault on Londonium before I depart and today they'll gonna commence the attack." Norman replied with complete assurance.
"Really, they're going to do it now?!" Henrietta hearing this information surprised at the fact that the royalists will gonna end this once and for all. This cause a lot of murmurs among the nobility in present.
"Yes your majesty and all we gonna do is to wait for the good news." Norman answered certainly. He was sure that Reconquista will be no more after the Albionese civil war. After witnessing the feats this newfound allies of his highness it will be set to stone that the outcome would be in their favor.
"I see, if that's the case then I would like to wait for the news to come before I made my decision. I hope you understand." Henrietta stated.
"That would be no issue your majesty." Norman humbly replied.
Norman was content from this outcome, no matter what happens after they won Tristain will not intrude to any political policies that the new Albion will establish once they declare their support. They are certain that many aristocrats in this mainland would definitely object to such new system. Romalia was no threat to Albion for being low in military strength but influence wise is widespread but nonetheless not much big of an issue due to some circumstances. They only want Tristain not to interfere so that no one would use them to antagonize Albion because of a certain threat Stanford could not afford to face and making them swear to not include in any Albion affairs would be an assurance. Tristainian nobles are known for their code of honor after all and breaking their words would be utter disgrace. Germania is another problem due to its desire of wanting a piece of Albion but Romalia would never work with them because of pride and they viewed them as a barbaric nation, not part of the blessed realms. Gallia is also an issue but due to it's hostility that bring suspicions towards it's neighbours they would not make a deal with such untrustworthy kingdom thanks to it's current ruler who rumoured to be mad.
"Thank you for your understanding and please send my blessings to prince Wales that may he succeed from his campaign." Henrietta said.
"I will your majesty." Norman bows humbly in reply.
(Outskirts of Eidenburgh, Albion)
The town of Eidenburgh, a peaceful and somewhat untouched town from the war thanks to Stanford's careful tactics despite being a vital point for any conflict within the kingdom was now one of the key area strongholds for the Albion Allies. Today on it's outskirts, the biggest concentration of Allied forces assembled within it's vicinity. At the center of this forces was a makeshift tent where the top leaders and officers of this rebellion are currently reviewing their battle plan for the most important and largest offensive that will decide the outcome of the Second Albion civil war.
"Alright let's evaluate this grand operation for all of you here. Today we're gonna pull off the biggest crucial offensive we will done so far. The capture of the Capitol Londonium would be the deciding factor for this war so we must memorize each and every roles that each of us here will be participating in this coming offensive." Stanford starts the meeting with all the top figures present.
"Senior officer John you will be in charge of the battle reports on the battlefield. Make sure you don't miss any vital information and reports about the current situation in the battle." Stanford assigned the old man John as the liaison officer. Being the village chief in Caldwen that always communicate with others helps him to understood the protocols and also being able to read and write is a given bonus.
"Yes, you can count on that commander." John replied with confidence. Those training in communications will be put in use for this important historical mission that he will take part of. Being one of the first commoners that will partake in this history in the making event he never expected that he will be part of this once in a lifetime chance that will decide the life the common people like him.
"For the elite infiltration unit, Prince Wales will took in charge while commando Tanya will be your Co." Stanford announces, this caught off guard the people around the briefing especially the prince.
"W-wait Mr. Stanford, why me?! If you choose a leader for infiltration why Miss Tanya here, she's more well verse in this." Prince Wales asked in surprised and confusion while referring to the person who seems far more suitable.
"It's because of the mission I will give to them that you will be the suitable one to lead this." Stanford replied as he presented a 3d map from the hologram table represents the whole structure of the Havilland Palace.
"You and your squad will infiltrate the palace and since you are the only one here who knows the nook and cranny of this place since you live there before, you will be vital for this mission. And as for why I choose you the squad leader is because you of all people here is the only one who knows how to deal against the people who are currently residing in this place. As so you know when the battle commences this palace will be their stronghold so it is possible that all of their high ranking officials will be there and capturing or eliminating them would give us an advantage. You know every single one them and all the routes inside so being you the one leading the team would be easy. Just tell them what they need to do in some situations you guys will encounter there, given you already experience in leading such large forces so handling this squad would be not of a problem for you." Stanford explained to him. After this long explanation Wales somewhat understands his decision and finally accepts the role.
"I understand if that's what you decided then I will do my best for this mission." Wales accepted with resolve and Stanford nods then proceed with other.
"Now, for the medical units and volunteer group I'll assign miss Tiffania Westwood to be in charge." Stanford announces and look at his summoner with a meaningful nod. The blonde elf in return look at him with a nod and eyes fill with resolve that she would fulfill her duty to help the wounded when the assault commences, friendly or enemy alike. Tiffania, when the day she decided to support Stanford in his endeavours the commander then asked her to study medication from the engineers. Stanford wanted her to be a medical practitioner to tend the injured at the frontlines. In this way she can contribute in this rebellion while helping those in need in the way she wants.
"Alright then for the logistics and support the person I will assign is..." The briefing continues as each and every officials granted a task for the coming offensive.
"And finally I will be leading this operation as the highest officer in charge. Now with everything settled with their respective roles pray tell if their is something you guys want to ask regarding your roles before we adjourn this." Stanford asked for one last time for clarification. He wants to know if their is something they didn't understand in this entire operation but it seems that everyone already get a grasp of their tasks. With everyone cleared to their respective duties Stanford then dismisses them and they all returns to their own specific tasks. Stanford exits the large tent along with some escorts and look around just to see a large array of forces ranging from armed units and armored vehicles on standby in departure for the Capitol.
"C.O, are all preparations completed?" Stanford asked communications officer who is right behind him.
"Yes commander, everyone on the line responded they all ready." The C.O replied positively.
"Then notify all forces to commence the operation." Stanford finally gave out the signal to start the operation.
"Affirmative!" The C.O saluted then hurried back to the communications to relay the message. After a few moments the next thing transpires was a flock of Century bombers with Apollo fighters escorting at the front flew above them as it flew towards a single destination.
" Let's go!" Stanford commanded as they all followed him to his personal Riptide ACV. Soon, the whole allied ground forces began mobilization marching towards Londonium.
(Havilland Palace Londonium, Albion)
Oliver Cromwell along with his loyal officials we're on a heated discussion regarding the rebel menace that giving them a series of problems since their appearance. Their meeting revolves around the missing reinforcements and the disappearance of Count Norman.
"It's been a week since I sent a summoning order to those garrison forts to assemble and strengthen our numbers here but why none of them has made it here!" Cromwell fuming in anger at the issue that sets upon the meeting. The reinforcements he requested had gone missing in this past week and not a single one from those areas had come here. No one from his subordinates had an idea of what happened to them nor a hunch of where they are.
"Your holiness, it is possible that the messengers you sent got ambush along the way by the rebels?" General Bowood guessed a possibility.
"Is that your conclusion General Bowood?" The renegade priest eyed at Bowood wondering if his suspicion was right.
"But how is that possible, how did they manage to get a wind of what're we going to do unless..." An aide blurted out but suddenly trailed off as he realizes something.
"There's a traitor in our midst." General Mordred finished and everyone share the same thoughts. Truth to be told, there is no other explanation than this. Every move they do the rebels will always one step behind and always manage to counter whatever they throw. The only explanation why they manage to do this so far is probably they have a mole planted among their ranks that feeding the rebels information regarding their plans but who could it be.
"But who is it?" Another aide questioned.
"I think I got an idea of who is the traitor." Marquis Graham suddenly spokes.
"It is Count Alford, the very bastard that disappeared 5 days ago along with his family and his servants." Graham continued. It's unprecedented and shock that put a heightened alarm to the entire Capitol. The Count and his entire household just suddenly vanished overnight without everyone noticing them leaving Londonium. The guards from every gates was on strict protocol and prohibiting anyone to go out due to the ongoing civil war but the Count was nowhere to be found so it concludes that he already escaped. The only mystery that shrouded his disappearance is how did he go unnoticed with such a large number of people. There is no reports of a such large caravan exited out of the Capitol and the guards that stationed in every gates are active in their posts day and night with shifting schedule so its impossible for the Count to not be spotted if he tried to go out especially with such a large group along.
"That bastard, we should have known it was him. His sudden disappearance makes all sense, his family aligned with the royalists and his father is the most loyal to the late monarch. Out of all of us here, he is the most likely to be has a motive to do this! It's a mistake that we spared him and his family. We should've hanged them all from the start!" One of Cromwell's aide blurted out enrage by the traitorous scheme of the young Count.
"All this time he is the one who bitten us in the back. He must be feeding the rebels some information, the very reason why the rebels always bested us in series of skirmishes recently. Grrr, I will make him regret backstabbing us once I get my hands on him!" General Mordred added out in anger. All of the nobles present agreed and has the same resentment towards Alford for betraying them after they showed mercy on his family for not annihilating them.
"Ghk, this is all your fault Graham, if you just didn't suggest to spared that disgraceful household from the very beginning then this fiasco would never happen!" General Bowood pointed accusingly at the Marquis and all nobles suddenly agreed with Bowood and started blaming the Marquis.
"What, how should I know that damn bastard will betray us in the first place?! It's not my fault that he just suddenly turned on us!" Marquis countered. Still, the Marquis knows this was on him, he suggested to let go of the Alford family all because of Norman's sister Rowena. They've come to an agreement that in exchange of her family's survival he will make her his mistress which she agreed. Sure he would force himself to her but she threatened that if her family perished she will go along with them so he decided to come down to that agreement but he didn't expect that it would bite him back in the end all because of his desire and lust towards lady of the Alford household.
"Enough of this blaming, this problem is already there and we have nothing to do about it. All we need to do is to prepare our troops here for a possible attack. We will discuss about him once we capture him in the future." Cromwell silence the crowd and decided to chance the subject.
"My liege please may I suggest that I will personally lead the manhunt on that traitor once we are done of this rebels?" Graham suggested the mission to personally catch Norman. He felt responsible for the misfortunes befall on the holy state because of that snake that he spared, so he personally want to lead the mission to hunt this traitor down.
"Fine, I will leave it to you once were done with this upstarts." Cromwell gave his permission.
"Thank you your holiness." Graham bowed in respect.
"Now for the other issues regarding the rebel-" Cromwell was about to proceed to their next subject a servant was suddenly blasted out of the door.
"YOUR HOLINESS WE HAVE A SITUATION!" A servant yells out in alarm inside the meeting hall.
"What the- YOU SERVANT, HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT OUR MEETING HERE!" Cromwell shouted in pure anger at the measly servant that has a guts to interrupt the nobles meeting.
"F-Forgive me my holiness but something is happening outside!" The servant replied in alarming tone.
"And what is it? Make sure it is worth listening or I'll have your head for your insolence of barging in!" Cromwell impatiently threatened the servant, angered by it's sudden intrusion in the middle of this important discussion.
"Y-yes my holiness, as I said something is going on out here! A bunch of parchment papers are raining in the sky in the whole Capitol just out of nowhere!" The servant replied on his report. All of the nobles in the room including Cromwell just started at him ridiculously as if he was not sane.
"Are you playing words with me you insolent peasant? Reporting me of such NONSENSE?! Cromwell gnashing in an angered tone, thinking if the servant is just fooling around.
"N-no my holiness I'm speaking the truth! If your holiness not convinced then please follow me outside!" The servant replied in fear but in honesty as he was so sure of it. Cromwell noticed the certainty of the servant he finally decided to took it's words for now.
"Fine then, I will see if your telling the truth but if it turns out that your just pulling a leg here then consider your life forfeited." Cromwell warned menacingly which makes the servant squirmed in his position.
"This meeting will be resumed once I clarify this servant's claims." He announced and proceeds to exit the room. The nobles in the meeting being also curious about the what the servant said they all choose to follow them outside.
When they all arrive at the palace front balcony, Cromwell along with his noble military officials and aides was caught up shock from the what they've all witness. True to the words of the servant, countless of parchment papers are falling down from the sky like a confetti. All of the inhabitants just in surprise as so many papers are just falling out and it started littering the streets of Londonium and it began to create a commotion. Cromwell was caught off guard by this mysterious phenomenon as he was wondering what kind supernatural event is this.
" Your holiness, here I picked up the parchment and something was written on it!" The servant said as he handed out the said paper. Cromwell grab the said parchment and read it's contents.
Cromwell saw the contents and noticed that it also contains some sort of a map. The priest widens his eyes in surprise as it not just a simple map but a map of the Londonium itself. The map contains the whole view of the Capitol and it's outskirts but the most noticeable features is the whole outskirts of Londonium was full of blue dots and it was surrounding the whole Capitol. Under the portion of the map a sentence was written...
YOU ARE SORROUNDED
"What is the meaning of this?!" Cromwell voiced out in outbursts.
"Your holiness what is it?" General Bowood asked in curiosity.
"Here and look it for yourself." Cromwell handed out the paper and the General started reading then he widens his eyes in disbelief.
"Your holiness this is...!" General Bowood was shock as he realise what is this.
"It's the filthy upstarts and they finally dared to attack us today." Cromwell deduced. The whole reconquista officials was shock from this news.
" Is it your holiness, they're finally making their move against us?! And how did they manage to throw all of this in the entire Capitol?!" An aide asked in surprise.
"They're maybe using a wyvern to drop this from the sky." A certain noble replied the question.
"That's impossible the whole vicinity was guarded and there's no way an enemy wyvern could infiltrate this place unnoticed without raising an alarm especially in a broad daylight!" General Mordred countered.
"That does matter? No matter, the most important thing is we should do is to prepare for their attack." Cromwell replied calmly and the military nobles and officials also agreed to him. His calmness in this situation was really revered by every noble present despite the threat the rebels possess.
"Your holiness something was also written at the back of the paper!" One of his aide advisors said as he noticed something was written on the back.
"What? Give it back to me!" Cromwell grab the paper back and looks at the back of it. It really has some contents written on it but this time it was a full message. He then began to read it and it's follows...
TO ALL RECONQUISTA FORCES WHO ARE READING THIS LETTER LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES TO YOU. WE ARE THE REBELS OF THE SOUTH AND WE SEND THIS MESSAGE AS AN ULTIMATUM. LET ME GET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT.
WE ARE DEMANDING YOUR SURRENDER AND GIVE YOU ALL CHANCES TO GIVE YOURSELVES IN AND END THIS CONFLICT WITHOUT FURTHER BLOODSHED. IF YOU DO SO PLEASE RAISE A WHITE FLAG AT THE TALLEST TOWER OF THE PALACE AS A SIGN, WE HAVE A CAPABILITY TO SEE IT FROM DISTANCE. WE WILL GIVE YOU 15 MINUTES TO DECIDE AND IF THE TIME RUNS OUT AND WE DIDN'T SAW ANY WHITE FLAG THEN WE CONSIDERED THIS ULTIMATUM CANCELLED AND WE WILL BEGIN OUR ATTACK.
AS FOR THE CIVILIANS WHO ARE CURRENTLY READING THIS WE SUGGEST THAT YOU ALL HIDE IN YOUR HOUSES TO AVOID BEING INVOLVED IN THE FIGHT THAT WILL HAPPEN. IF YOU HAVE BASEMENT OR UNDERGROUND CELLAR WE ADVISE THAT YOU HIDE THERE FOR AWHILE UNTIL THE BATTLE IS OVER.
HOPE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT WAY TO SETTLE THIS CROMWELL OR YOU WILL BE IN A WORLD OF PAIN.
SURRENDER AND YOU ALL WILL BE SPARED, FIGHT AND YOU ALL WILL BE PERISHED. SURVIVAL OR COMPLETE ANNIHILATION, IT'S ALL UP TO YOU.
After reading it Cromwell crumpled the paper in rage and throws it.
"THOSE FILTHY MONGRELS, WHO THEY THINK THEY ARE?!" Cromwell shouted in fury after reading the letter. He was infuriated after reading such a bold message containing their demands to his surrender and threaten him at the same time.
"Y-your holiness, what did the letter say?" Marquis Graham asked in curiosity after seeing the outburst of their holy leader.
"Those insects write a demand of our surrender to me and threaten to obliterate us if we refuse. PAH such audacity, THE NERVE!" Cromwell sneered at the letter he just read recently. His reply sends a wave of disgusts and insults from the nobles present against the rebels.
"HAH as if we give in to their demands! Whose idiot would willing to comply to this bunch of uncivilized weaklings!" General Mordred voice out his thoughts.
"I agree, there's no way we will lose to this upstarts this time. They got a score of us in the past because they planted a spy in our midst that giving them information about our movement but now it's no longer an issue since we already identified the mole." General Bowood added with his sheer confidence that they will be victorious this time. He really believes that the recent victories of this rebels was because of Norman feeding them information about their plans and thought that they have an advantage today since they are no longer have an informant inside.
"Exactly, it is our time to put this peasants to their place. They've got a confidence to even dare attacking us in our turf but no matter because we will pummel them with our magical might. We will repel them back and make them regret rising up against us!" Cromwell declared and he was met up with cheers to his subordinates.
"So what are we going to do now your eminence?" Marquis Graham asked.
"Notify all of our forces in the Capitol, bolster our defenses and quickly make preparations for the upcoming attack. This rebels make a big mistake of sending this letter. They're giving us time to prepare and inform us that they will attack today, fools." Cromwell smirk at this opportunity as he issued out an order.
"As you command." Graham humbly bows and leaves to send out orders along with his fellow military nobles for the preparation of defending the Capitol against the rebel army.
"Your holiness, what should I do about the public? I'm sure they're will be civil unrest within the Capitol since this letter was spread all across Londonium like plague." One of the aide advisor asked Cromwell what to do about the people.
"Make an announcement that they should not worry about such empty threats that the rebels are only scaring them." Cromwell answered with a solution.
"Would that will work your holiness?" The aide advisor asked.
"It will, this good for nothing peasants will just believe whatever words we told them." Cromwell brushes off.
"I see then, I will go and announce it your holiness." The aide humbly bows his head and exits the premise while leaving Cromwell along with his other aides and advisors at the place balcony.
"Hmph, pesky insects your struggles will ends here now and I will see to it that you will all grovel to my feet for forgiveness." Cromwell with determined confidence he will make sure that the rebels will pay for ever crossing him as he will unleash the full arsenal of reconquista.
(Outskirts of Londonium, Miles Away From The Capitol)
A makeshift command tent was made as the communication center for the upcoming operation. Inside the tent, Stanford is on standby awaiting for the report of the scouts he sent to monitor the latest movement at the Capitol. Just awhile ago they sent a Harbinger gunship in a task to drop a huge number of flyers in the entire Londonium containing a letter of demand. The reason he chose the Harbinger to deliver the message due to it's capability to fly high altitude far enough to the naked eye to notice as it would only make people deduced it as a random bird in the sky. He will wait for the response the enemy will do after they receive his 'humbled' letter eventhough he already expected the outcome.
"Commander the scouts have just reported that 15 minutes has past and they didn't see any white flag fluttering up the palace." The C.O informed as he receive a call from the scouts.
"Well that's unfortunate. Notify all our forces to commence the operation. Airforce units begin phase 1." Stanford let out a go signal command to start the attack.
" Affirmative." The C.O acknowledge and begin to contact all forces that the operation is a go.
"Officer John I leave everything to you here." Stanford said to his assigned communications officer.
"Understood." John replied with a salute.
Stanford exited the tent and was greeted by the whole array of soldiers and vehicles awaiting his orders.
"ALL UNITS PREPARE TO EMBARK!" Stanford yells his order and proceed to go to his designated I.F.V transport.
"Let's roll!" Stanford kicks in the engine of his vehicle and started to rode his way to battle accompanied with a convoy of vehicles and an army following behind. Above them a flock of aircrafts ranging from bombers and jets flew pass by proceeding first in the battlefield to drew the first strike.
Meanwhile back at the certain area, Prince Wales and Agent Tanya along with their squad of Cryo Legionnaires and Peacekeepers are preparing to aboard a giant container box that would fit in all of them inside.
"Are you saying were gonna teleport our way inside the palace?" Prince Wales asked in bewildered.
"Yes and were going to infiltrate and attack the enemies behind there lines." Tanya answered while cocking his twin pistols.
"Sir, ma'am everything is ready." An officer notified.
"Good, alright men let's move! Prince Wales let's go." Tanya said and everyone begin to prep up and enter the giant container. As they all entered inside Tanya reminded Prince Wales.
"Alright your highness, once we get inside the palace it's all on to you to command." Tanya reminded.
"I understand, I know what to do now." Prince Wales assured with resolve.
Then the container they are in began to vanish in swirl of dome bluish vortex and disappeared along with them.
"I bid you guys a great succession on your mission." The officer saluted while witnessing the event.
(Skies Above Londonium)
"Warhammer 1 to command we spotted enemy forces converging at the Capitol's walls armed with bows and muskets, over." Warhammer 1 radioed the enemies movements in their view to command.
"We copy loud and clear Warhammer 1 continue monitoring." The C.O operator replied.
"Warhammer 2 this is command proceed to your next phase of operation." The C.O then contact the other Harbinger in the sky.
"Roger that command, proceed to our designated targets." Warhammer 2 acknowledged and flew towards the target location.
"Command this is Warhammer 2 in position marking the targets." Warhammer 2 radioed beginning it's operation.
"Warhammer 2 you are clear in hot. Blow them to kingdom come." The command gives the signal. As the order was given the Harbinger Gunship then unleashhes a stream of proton fire at the suspected target area.
(Dragon Knights Barracks. Fort Of Londonium)
At the wyvern barracks, General Mordred spokes to his men for the preparation against the rebel onslaught.
"My fellow dragon knights, now is the time to show this pesky upstarts why the dragon knights is the symbol of our holy nation's might!" General Mordred gives his men a moral speech of confidence before they embark themselves into battle.
"Milord something is coming from the sky!" A random dragon knight shouted as he points towards the sky. Mordred turns around to see what the dragon knight is seeing when suddenly a streak of bluish light engulfs his entire vision and before he could even react the light itself bloes into a dome of explosion obliterating anyone and anything within the vicinity.
"HEEELP ACK-"
"W-WHAT IS THIS, WHAT IS GONG ON?!"
"TH-THE HEAVENS HAS FORSAKEN US, THEY'RE CASTING THEIR LIGHT OF JUDGEMENT UPON US AAAGH-!"
Multiple waves of light flash struck the entire fort that cause a massive chaos and panic among the soldiers stationed there and their screams was cut short live as the explosions made of light literally end their life as they know with every single structures in the fort shattered in smithereens along with their dragons which are helplessly howling in panic and death. This explosions attracted the onlookers and those who near the fort as a plume of huge smoke emerge in the vicinity.
(Havilland Palace, Londonium)
"What is that loud sound, what is going on there?!" Cromwell asked in confusion when he suddenly hears explosions not far from there place.
"Your holiness, there's a huge smoke appeared at the dragon's fort barracks!" A servant pointed at the location of the fort. There they saw a huge cloud of smoke coming from the fort.
"WHAT IS HAPPENING THERE, WHY IS THE FORT ON FIRE?!" Cromwell demanded an explanation at the current situation.
"W-we don't know milord, it's just happened out of nowhere!" The servant replied in fear seeing the rising anger of the priest.
"I-is it the rebels attacking the fort?" The aide said deducing nervously.
"That's impossible, how in Brimir did they do that! The fort is inside the Capitol!" Another aide countered.
"O-or maybe they sent an infiltration in advance!" The previous reasoned his first statement.
"That's absurd!" The second aide rejected the thought.
"Enough! You servant find out what's really happening there and report it back to me!" Cromwell calms his aides and issued an order to the servant to find out the situation of the fort.
"Yes milord!" The servant hurriedly leaves after receiving an order.
Cromwell then leaves in deep thought wondering what just happened there. He wanted to deny the thought that it was the rebels that manage to sneak in to the Capitol but this incident was to much of a coincidence in the same time when the rebels decided to attack.
"Y-your holiness, something is approaching from the sky!" The aide suddenly alerted that snaps Cromwell out of his thoughts. The aide pointed at the direction of the horizon where they saw numerous flying objects approaching the Capitol. As this silhouettes getting bigger and bigger until that a better picture of this things.
Dozens of gigantic flying metal birds flies above the airspace of the Capitol like a flock of migratory birds and started to drop something which many in numbers.
"W-WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS?!" Cromwell shouted in shock and disbelief seeing the event folding in his very eyes. Hundreds of paratroopers chute there way out of the Century Bombers passing above Londonium. His mouth hung open in pure shock and horror along with his peers who also witnessing the same scenario.
"W-WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS?!" One of his aides starred in horror at the rebels dropping in every parts of the Capitol.
"I-IT'S THE REBELS, THEY'RE DROPPING FROM THE SKY!" Another aide immediately identified the people parachuting their way down to the Capitol.
"The rebels?! No, how is that possible?! How did they pull this off?! Where did they came from?!" The previous aide asked a barrage of questions due to disbelief and shock while Cromwell took a step back in pure horror at the sight of this phenomenon.
"I-I don't know, they've just pouring out of this flying metal dragons that who knows where they get! I-it doesn't make any sense!" The aide replied to his fellow aide
'This are the rebels, what in the world are they?!' He thoughts wanted to deny this kind of unbelievable sight before him. If the rebels will scattered around the Capitol then this isn't a good situation they're in.
' This is impossible, THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! They're just nothing but a bunch of commoners so what is this things I'm witnessing?' Cromwell tried to deny everything he saw. Giant metal dragons and rebels dropping from the sky is not a usual sight you usually see in this world.
"Milord I have an urgent report, the dragon fort where the huge smoke came from was completely destroyed by an unknown source. Reports said that General Mordred and the whole contingent of dragon knights had perished from the unprecedented attack and there was a huge number of enemies dropping down from the sky and scattered around the Capitol, milord this is trouble!" The servant suddenly comes in and reported the current events in fear. Cromwell heard the report becomes more paranoid and unable to answer his servant as his thoughts started to sway somewhere.
"Milord, please what should we do?!" The servant pleads to him asking what do.
"Your holiness we should head inside, it's no longer safe here!" The aide suddenly proposed.
"I agree, we should head inside and think about the next course of action regarding this situation!" The second aide agreed. Cromwell hearing this compose himself and responds but still could not wash away his anxiety.
"R-right, w-we should head back inside and discuss this!" With his trembling posture he and his entourage quickly went inside the palace.
(Londonium Front Gate)
"Sire what should we do now, the enemies just slip through and lands inside the Capitol!" The foot soldier said in panic when they witness at the D-day version paradrop landing of the allied rebel forces inside Londonium. With this sudden turn of events the whole defensive lines of reconquista was thrown into panic and confusion.
"Hold still men, we can find a way to root out those rebels inside the Capitol! Assemble a division of knights and musketeers and make them meet the enemies that lands from the those metal dragons!" General Bowood issued a command to assemble a group to deal with the rebels inside.
"Y-yes milord!" The soldier bows and immediately rushes to lay out the orders. General Bowood left out with some archers and mages at the top of the walls, he expected an attack that will coming from the front but he had no idea that you his rebels are mysterious bunch who had been an enigma since their debut. That have no clear picture of what they look like only but an army of commoners as much as they knew but today, he just witness a clear view of them and one of their capabilities. They left with a mouth agape in shock from the sight of the rebels jumps out from those dozens of metallic flying dragons from who knows where they got.
"Milord what are we going to do here. We should fight those rebels there instead of idling here!" A mate from his unit demands as they all showed some impatience amongst their ranks.
"No, we will wait here. I already sent an army to eliminate those rebels that manage to get in. We have guard this walls for a possible attack outside." The General replied firmly. He will not take any chances for a possibility of an attack from the outside. Being already had some experience in his sleeve he already learned that sometimes the enemy will attack you from the side where is least expected so he should not leave any points undefended.
" Listen, we have to prepare for the unexpected! The enemies already showed some surprised tricks in their possession so we have to be stay vigilant and protect this area at all cost!" General Bowood let out a speech to his soldiers and they all meet it with acknowledgment.
"YES MILORD!" His forces said in unison.
Suddenly a whisling sound was heard from the walls and the General reflex his stance in alertness when...
"BOOOOOM!"
The part of the wall that the General was in exploded in smithereens along with those who close enough.
"GENERAAAL!" His soldiers screamed in pure horror. The only thing they saw from falling from the debris was his damage helmet.
"No..." The second in command stared in stunned shock. Then multiple explosion occurred at the walls as the watchtowers and the ramparts was reduced to rubbles along with many soldiers stood guard there.
"WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" A random soldier shouted as he sound the bell in alarm. The whole ranks was thrown into chaos and disarray unable to do arrange themselves due to the bombardment. Falling debris from the wreck walls was helping to add some casualties the those who is unfortunate souls under. Soldiers screaming and running left and right trying to avoid from what they comprehend as an artillery barrage from the rebels.
"THE ENEMY, WHERE ARE THEY?!"
"HEEELP I DON'T WANT TO DIE!"
"NO, I'M LEAVING, I AIN'T THROWING MY LIFE JUST FOR THIS NOBLES!"
This unprofessionally untrained soldiers are in a state of despair that some of them tried to run away. Without the one who commands them it obvious that this soldiers will end up loose and witnessing their General got blown to pieces was an added haywire.
"YOU USELESS BASTARDS COMPOSE YOURSELVES TOGETHER, GET BACK HERE AND PREPARE FOR THE COUNTERATTACK!" The mages tried to control the panicking footmen but in vain. They all succumb to fear, can't help it since they just all common militias that just recently recruited with no training to fill the ranks of the absent reinforcements. They are no different from an ordinary civilians holding a weapon.
"SIRE WHAT SHOULD WE DO NOW?!" A mage calls out their second in command who still stand frozen from the events folding in front of him. He doesn't know what to do, he's just a Count who joined in the army without any experience but only wanted glory and fame. He only got his position thanks to influence and status.
"SIRE!" The mage yells again to get his attention.
"Climb up the walls and prepare for the counterattack." He finally responds with a mutter.
"What?" The mage asked didn't hear him clearly.
"W-we have to go up the walls and use our magic to repel the attack. Assemble the remaining archers and musketeers there. The enemy must be in the vicinity in order to attack us with cannons, they should be within our range of attack!" The Count finally responds and let out a command.
"Yes sire I will relay it immediately!" The mage then hurriedly up relaying the orders to assemble troops needed amidst the chaos.
They finally manage to assemble some and quickly get at the battered walls. The bombardment still continues but as they climb to see the enemy in the horizon, they saw nothing.
"Wait, where is the enemy?!" The mage said in confusion.
"T-they should be here right?! If not then where this attacks came from?!" Another mage said in worry.
Suddenly the bombardment shifted to their positions and a rain of explosions engulfs around them.
*whistles*
"BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!"
"AAAAAAARGGGH!"
"DAMMIT, WHERE ARE THEY!"
"THIS IS HOPELESS, WE SHOULD RETREAT! WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THE ENEMY IS!"
The soldiers yells in growing fear. The situation their in was hopeless. They could not do anything but cover themselves . Unable to counter without seeing their enemies and the latter just killing them without needing to confront them.
"COWARDS, NO ONE RETREATS!" The mages shouted in pure anger at the common footmen. Despite the situation this mages has an ego that whether they're scared shitless they still can't go back even it's futile to fight.
"SIRE, WHAT ARE WE BY GOING TO DO!" The mage pleaded again to the Count, still relying to their second commander. But the Count has no longer an idea of what to do. His lack of expertise really bites him for this.
"I don't know...what to do..." He mutters in despair. Never did he imagined this outcome, all he was looking forward was to get fame in this crusade and rise up in status but none of it matters now as it was all a pipe dream.
"COUNT AUGUST!" That was the last words he heard as the walls they are in exploded into pieces.
(Outskirts Of Londonium, South Gate)
An array of Guardian Tanks fires their salvo at the front walls of the Capitol. Reducing any defenses the enemy put in.
"Alpha company this Warhammer 1, defenses on the front gate has completely neutralized. Enemy forces are combat ineffective. Your clear to proceed but with caution." Warhammer 1 reported on the radio and Stanford receiving the message quickly response.
"Thanks for the info Warhammer 1, keep the monitor on the enemies as per orders over." Stanford respond.
"We copy that sir, Warhammer out." Warhammer 1 replied and cut the line. Stanford then barks his order.
"All Guardian tank units this is commander Stanford, cease firing on the targets. I repeat ceasefire." Stanford ordered to halt the bombardment through comms and moments later the barrage of turret fires immediately stops. Stanford then switched the transmission on his radio and relay his next orders.
"Mirage 1 this is the commander, you are clear to move." Stanford said on the comms.
"This is Mirage 1, affirmative." Mirage 1 positively responds. Hearing the affirmative response Stanford change the line.
"Alpha company this is your commander speaking, the offensive is a go. Move out and proceed according to the plan." Stanford announces to all his company units that the siege of the Capitol will now begin. Soon, the whole company array of infantry units and Riptides ACVs are making their way to the Capitol's front gate. Hiding behind the Mirage tank's gap generator system as they marching their way towards.
(Londonium North Gate)
A Mirage tank just punch through the north gate of Londonium. Using it's spectrum cannon, he shattered the gate into bits and welcomed itself inside. After the initial bombardment of the walls, the rebels successfully taken out any defenses reconquista sets up. Now Earl Royce, the one in charge of the north wall was battered up due to the artillery fire while standing in the middle of destruction along with what remains of his troops.
"M-MO-MONSTER!"
"RUN BEFORE IT EATS US!"
"HALT, GET BACK HERE YOU USELESS DRAGS, FIRE YOUR MUSKETS TOWARDS THAT METALLIC MONSTROSITY NOW!" Earl Royce ordered his men to shoot at the demonic construct approaching on their lines.
"B-BU-BUT SIRE!" A footmen musketeer wanted to complain but the Earl meets him with a threatening glare.
"Do it or I'll freeze you all to death." He said in a warping voice. The soldiers with terrible fear towards their officer in charge gulps in horror as they leaves no choice but to comply. They positioned themselves in defensive line formation and aim their muskets towards the incoming tank with fear in their eyes at the sight of an alien like creature.
"FIRE!" The Earl yells and a volley of musket fire rangs out. Their shots manage hit the tank despite its inaccuracy or the target is quite big to hit. But unfortunately for them, it didn't do any damage as if the tank just shrugged it all off.
"I-IT'S NOT WORKING, OUR WEAPON DOESN'T WORK ON THAT THING!" The musketeer yells in horror of hopelessness. The Earl also saw the muskets ineffectiveness gritted his teeth.
"If conventional weapons doesn't work then I will just obliterate it with my magic!" The Earl said in anger as he was about to cast his ice spell but suddenly they the turret of the tank glows a pink hue. Seeing this the musketeer realizes.
"IT'S GOING TO FIRE RUUUN!" The musketeer yells but in a split of second before they could even move the spectrum cannon fires it's shot in a blast of pink light pierces through anything in its path. The Earl realizes this immediately ducks thanks to his instincts, seems his experience in the previous civil war paid his senses active. Unfortunately, the musketeers who is in the front was not lucky to avoid it as they all pierced by the death ray the tank unleashes.
'What kind of magic beast is that?!' Earl Royce thought in shock.
"No, I must build an ice wall first before coming up with a plan to counterattack. " The Earl then immediately cast an ice wall in front of him. He made the ice thick enough to tank the blast that the beast is going to release.
"Milord!" Someone suddenly calls him out and the Earl looks at the direction of the caller. A small group of mages or what's left of them wearing battered robes while carrying their staffs are rushing towards him in assistance.
"Milord we're here to help!" The lead mage said. This mages manage to survive after a heavy barrage thanks to their magic that somehow increases their survivability. The common militias was not so fortunate to have some measures to protect themselves so they are the ones who suffered a casualty.
"What a great timing then. I want you all to assist me repel this beast. Using our combined magic, we will stand a chance." Earl Royce said to the mages and they all agreed in.
"Yes milord, we also saw what this monstrosity can do. We will defeat it with our superior powers!" The mage replied in confidence.
"Alright, prepare for our counterattack!" The Earl declares as they make their stance. Then all of a sudden the ice wall that separated them from the tank shatters in crystal like form.
"It easily broke my ice wall?!" The Earl stared in surprise.
"It's our turn to attack now!" The mages immediately cast their spells but they we're abruptly stops when gunfire hits one of the mages.
"AAAARGH MY HAND!" The hand wields the staffs was shot by an unknown source.
"Where did that come from?!" The other mage yells and looks around for any possible enemies except the tank.
"Is it the beast who did this?!" Another mage deduced. They heard him and they all look at the tank then suddenly, a disturbance surrounds the Mirage tank as it's gap generator system deactivates and greeted the Earl and the mages ab astonishing sight.
A whole company of rebels emerges literally appeared out of nowhere besides the Mirage tank. All armed with firearms pointed towards the Earl and his mages.
"IT'S THE REBELS! WHERE DID THEY CAME FROM?!"
"ARE THEY USING MAGIC?!"
"IMPOSSIBLE, THEY'RE COMMONERS!"
"ARE THEY BORROWED THE POWER OF THE ELVES?!"
Series of astonishment words spouted from the mages. Trying to deny the feat this rebels presented. Even the Earl himself was taken aback by this mysterious power this rebels possess. As they were petrified in their position a loud voice was suddenly heard around.
"This is a last warning for the remaining defenders in this area. Lay down your weapons and surrender to us now and we will promise to treat you all humanely." The commanding officer of the rebels sieging the north gate announces in his loudspeaker. Hearing such demand, Earl Royce was tempted to do so but knowing that he will surrender himself to the rebels an army commoners no less his pride got ahead of him.
"Me, surrender? No...NO, I WILL NOT GIVE MYSELF IN TO A BUNCH OF DISGRACEFUL FILTHY UPSTARTS WHO SOLD THERMSELVES TO THE DEMONIC ELVES!" With defiance, Earl Royce yells with all his breath. He create his delusion that the rebels in front of him are using elven magic and it seems the mates besides him has the same thoughts.
"YOU BASTARDS WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER TO YOU BUNCH OF RABBLES!" A mage also yells in at the rebels.
"THAT'S RIGHT, YOU PEASANTS SHOULD KNOW YOUR PLACE AND I WILL PUT YOU ALL THERE RIGHT NOW!" Another mage in the group blurt out his arrogance as he cast a lightning spell towards the rebels. A stream of pure lightning sails towards the rebels with surging speed, but before it could even hit any of the rebels an array of peacekeepers steps in front and place their riot shields in defensive formation. The lightning attack hits the shields and creates a shock impact. The riot shields despite being hit by a strong electricity didn't even faltered by contact and deflected it effectively.
"W-WHAAT?!" The mage who casted the spell yells in utter disbelief and before he could even do anything, a gunshot pierce through his head and the lightning mage falls to the ground like a puppet loses it's strings.
"ARLON IS DEAD!" A fellow mage shouted in pure horror as they witness the fall of their comrade. Then moments later a cacophony of fire heard launching towards the mages. Unable to give time to react they were shredded by the endless stream of gunfire that torn them apart.
"AAAAARCK!" Earl Royce without given a time to defend himself nor counter fall to the ground littered with bullets.
"N-no...why end up like this..." His final words before his vision engulfs in pure darkness.
(Londonium South Gate)
Stanford steps out of his IFV and look at the current situation of the site they just secure. They successfully captured the Capitol's southern gate and manage to gain foothold inside with a little amount of casualties. Some of his men suffered some injuries when they entered the area. Their enemies were badly beaten but some of them are still defiant that they resist capture and tried to fought back. Thankfully, no one loses their life during the occupation.
" Commander, we've manage to establish a foothold inside awaiting your next orders." An officer informs him with the update.
"Good, proceed to the next assault. Bring the assault troops and ACVs and continue pushing deep. The others remains here to guard this area and also carry the wounded out of here to the medical camp outside." Stanford instructed. The officer salutes then immediately lays out the orders.
After the officer leaves, Stanford goes to the makeshift communication site. There he saw some soldiers sets up some tables with radio equipments placed on it. One of the officers saw him and quickly salutes.
"Commander!" The officer greeted. The others who notices then immediately follows in response.
"At ease soldiers." Stanford eases.
"What's the situation in the battlefield?" Stanford asked firmly.
"Sir we receive a report that Bravo company had successfully captured the north gate and also establishing foothold there." The CO informs.
"Job well done. Any reports?" Stanford praises but still asked for others.
"The airborne divisions reported that they manage to capture some vital keypoints. The first brigade took over the Cathedral as per orders, the second brigade secured the market place while the third brigade currently engaging the enemies at the slums. The other brigades are currently on their way to their target locations." The CO elaborates the current situation of the battle.
"I see, how about the plaza and the palace itself, any news about them?" Stanford asked.
"Sir about that, we have some situation from the Capitol square. The fourth brigade reported that numerous civilians just rounded up at the square." The CO informs.
"What, civilians at the square? Why are they here?" Stanford asked quite confuse.
"According to the Intel, a palace aide gathered the townsfolks at the area to announce that they should ignore the message we sent to them." The CO answered.
"Is that so, we might put the lives of civilians at risk if a fight ensues there. Alright tell the fourth brigade to be on standby and monitor the situation there. Wait until we reach the site and we will plan our strategy to subdue any hostiles within the plaza." Stanford instructed.
"Yes sir I will relay it immediately. Also sir about the infiltration team that we sent to the palace they are currently on the vicinity and trudging their way to find the HVT." The CO informs regarding the infiltration squad that Stanford task to raid the palace.
"Good, as soon as we capture the leader the better and this war will automatically over." Stanford commented, their operation is going smoothly and as long as they have the element of surprise reconquista will never know what hit them.
(Havilland Palace, Londonium)
"Wait, I spotted three hostiles around the corner." Tanya warned as she and the team immediately went to hide. Currently, they're inside the palace and making their way to capture Cromwell, the renegade leader of reconquista.
Using the chronsphere tech they teleported their way at the palace courtyard and choose an area where people are off limits. Successively, Wales instructed them to follow his lead to make their way towards the throne room where the target possibly residing or if not maybe at his personal chambers. Wales pinpointing the path while Tanya and the team will stay wary of their surroundings.
"Just wait patiently, those guards has routines so they will leave afterwards." Wales told them while observing the guards and true to his words the guards leaves the area after idling for a moment.
"Are we clear?" Tanya asked for assurance.
"Yes and hurry before they go back." Wales responds and the team quickly make haste to pass the area.
With prince Wales instructions they manage to bypass any securities within the palace and sneak their way without raising any alarm. At the same time with prince Wales instructions Tanya took out some of the guards along with him using their melee weapons against those who are deemed an obstacle with quickness and efficiency.
"Alright we're almost there, just five corners at the left and we will reach the throne room. Remember what I said before we go, if there are many guards standing in front of the entrance their is a high possibility that he is there. If not I suggest to infiltrate the king's room first." Wales advised. He told them before about this scenario, if they don't want to unnecessarily reveal themselves they have to guess it right if the target was on that area. The throne room is too risky to bust in without getting themselves compromised due to it's spacious background while the king's bedroom is easy to infiltrate without needing to go loud. Wales out of them is the only person who is well verse of this place and with his help it will be easy for them to accomplished this mission.
"Are you guys ready?" Prince Wales asked.
"On your lead." Tanya responds and her squadmates nods in ready.
"Right then let's go." Wales signals them proceed.
(Capitol's Cathedral, Londonium)
"You heathens, how dare you defile this sacred place with your presence!" The head priest of the cathedral that was replaced Cromwell after their initial rebellion against the crown yells at the rebels who manage to bust themselves inside the cathedral.
"Shut your trap you wrinkly old ass. I'll pepper your mouth with bullets if you don't shut up." The airbourne first brigade leader threatened the priest with his rifle pointing directly at the priest frightened face. The priest and his entourage was being tied up in the corner helplessly as the rebels holed up themselves inside along with some civilians who take refuge inside the church.
A moments ago, the first airbourne brigade arrived at their designated target location which is the Cathedral. Their mission is to secure and turn it into their stronghold before the reinforcements arrived. When they reached the church they saw a huge number of people yelling and begging in front of the cathedral. This people are the inhabitants pleading to let them take refuge inside but the doors of the church is seemingly locked for this poor souls. When the invasion of the Capitol started many people took witness of the rebels parachuting from the skies that cause a massive public panic to the locals, fearing that the rebels might kill them if they got spotted and most of this locals who lives near the church choose to take a shelter in there thinking it was the safest place.
The soldiers decided to infiltrate the church in another way as to not cause panic into the civilians. When they manage to enter they saw some group of priests and wealthy merchants holed up inside. The brigade leader upon seeing this realizes something, this bastard priests only allowed this merchants to let in just because they offered them huge donation for the church and leave the common people outside who can't give anything to their fate. The brigade leader felt disgusted to this scumbags and he decided to subdue every single one of them and afterwards open the entrance for the people that crying outside.
"Private, what's the latest report from the outside?" The brigade leader asked his fellow soldier.
"Sir they said that they're already breach the gates as we speak but they're going delay for some time before they reach us. Some heavy fighting is still going from the other parts of the Capitol." The private who manage the radio replied.
"I see, so all we need to do is to maintain secured this place before the reinforcements arrived." The brigade leader nodded from the report. There's nothing much they except guarding this place so until additional troops arrive they will stay here for a little while longer. He then took a glance at the civilians who looks at them with awareness and fear in their eyes. This people just realized that they are the rebels forces that invading the Capitol. At first they were frightened at them but when they assured that they are not here to kill them but only going after reconquista they somewhat felt a little relieve.
"Seriously, what kind of rumors did this assholes told them to be this scared of us?" The leader just sighs at this awkwardness between them and the locals.
(Downtown Slums, Londonium)
"Hostiles on the second floor!" A soldier yells out as he fires his assault rifle to the enemy musketeers and archers hiding inside the buildings.
"First and second squad move into the target building and clear out those floors!" The squad leader yells out. Groups of squad armed with shotguns immediately enters the buildings and suppressed any hostile elements holed up there. Soon, loud gunfire was heard inside and the screams of people rangs out inside each buildings that the rebels raided.
"SHIT WE HAVE A MAGE!" A rebel soldier yells in alarm as they encountered a mage in one of those buildings.
"BEGONE YOU DEVILS!" The mage yells in rage as he cast a fire spell inside a freaking building.
"JUMP TO THE WINDOWS!" The rebel yells as he and his team rushes to the nearest windows and crashes their way outside. The ride spell release and the entire building bursts into flames along with the mage who stupidly committed suicide.
"Oomph!" The rebel luckily landed into at the haystack just under the window he jumps out. They are on the second floor and they jump out of desperation to escape a crazy sorcerer.
"SHIT, team are any of you alright?!" The rebel soldier calls out in concern after he recovered himself up.
"Uuurgh my leg..."
"Help my back..."
Some of his fellow rebels got a bad landing causing sprains and pain on their bodies. It supposed to be worst but thankfully the floor of the building seemingly not that high to cause serious damage.
"Hold on I got you!" He approached the nearest lying comrade and started patching him up before calling a medic.
Soon a group of medical team arrives and begin patching up the others before bringing them out in stretchers. The house to house fighting still continues until the rebels clears out the entire slums of enemy presence.
(Market District, Londonium)
The second brigade scurrying the entire area of the district for any hostile presence that might be hiding or ambush them along the way. Multiple squads was assigned by second brigade commander to search the vicinity and by some account they did encounter some enemies inside after they chase them away to the street.
"Halt, you hear that?" The squad leader stops his group as hears something. His attention then points at the carriage wagon idling in the corner. The leader signals his men to surround the carriage as they slowly approach quietly. When they are in position the leader signals one of his men to warily unveil the curtains of the carriage. The rebel soldier nods and slowly hold the curtains while his rifle still trained at, quickly sways the curtains and immediately points his gun inside when suddenly someone from the inside immediately pounced him.
"WHAT THE-" He could not even react as the figure turns out to be a man that jumps on him pounced him on the ground and now wrestling him for the gun.
"RESTRAIN HIM!" The leader shouted as the other rebels quickly help their comrade in trouble. They apprehended the man and pinned him on the ground. As they point their guns at the man someone screamed inside the carriage.
"PLEASE NO!" Suddenly a woman went out of the carriage and immediately shielded the man on the ground with her own body.
"PLEASE DON'T KILL MY HUSBAND, I BEG YOU!" The woman pleaded with tearful eyes. The rebels looks at them and finally realizes something.
"CIVILIANS!" One of the rebels shouted in realization. Then they heard some cries and the rebels turned their attention at the carriage. They saw two children crying at the carriage seeing their parents in a dangerous situation.
"The heck, what are the civilians doing here outside?! Isn't it we issued a warning before we invade this place?" One rebels says in confusion.
"It doesn't matter, since it's false alarm we should continue on moving." The squad leader said.
"Sir, what about them? Should we evacuate them?" Another rebel asked as he gestured to the civilian family.
"Nothing we can do and it's not our mission to evacuate them. Tell them to go back inside the carriage and hide there until the battle is over." The squad leader finalize. They instructed the family to go back in hiding as he and his squad returned to their clearing mission.
The husband and wife looks at the retreating figure of the rebels in confusion. They thought that their life would soon be forfeit if the rebels found them and the husband already resolve himself before he fought against them to protect his family. But on contrary, the rebels just ignored them when they found out they were just civilians. They are different from the rumors the state spread that they are nothing but warmongering upstarts that pillage anything and anyone. The man thought that his wife would be rape and his children will be sold out. It seems that he worried for nothing and yet they advised them to hide into safety. He was now relieved that the so called evil rebels by the government are nothing alike compared to the rumors they spouting about them.
On the other side of the district a hostage situation was being held as a reconquista knight holding a woman with his sword on the woman's neck.
"KYAAAA, HELP!" The woman screamed for help.
"ONE MORE STEP AND I'LL SLIT HER THROAT!" The knight yelled in warning. He was running for his life when he and his comrades was routed out and ambushed by the rebels. They was sent by General Bowood to suppressed this rebels who manage to sneak in to the Capitol through the sky. Never they anticipated that the rebels already waiting for them and set an ambush point along the way. Now, he is the only one who manage to survive in that hellhole and today he was on a desperate situation.
The rebels still pointing their guns at him but on a wary for this risky situation.
"Easy their man, at least we can talk this around." The rebel said trying to have a conversation to ease the Knight and let his guard down.
"HAH, what is this?! A rebel trying to make an appeasement for this mere commoner woman? You rebels are truly pathetic but it works for me nonetheless. So now back off or I will really going to end this bitch's life!" The knight warned sarcastically as he threatened to kill his hostage.
"P-PLEASE NO!" The woman pleaded in fear.
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH BITCH OR I WILL END YOU AS YOU KNOW IT!" The knight threatened.
The rebels was on the tight spot. An unexpected scenario where the enemy manage to find a civilian in this shop and take the woman that hide here as a hostage. Just when they think of a solution for this the rebels spotted a fellow rebel at the corner back of the shop hiding at the knight's blindspot along a with an attack dog. The hiding rebel signals his fellow rebels to wait for his signal. The rebels makes eye contact with each other but suddenly interrupted by the knight.
"HEY, WHERE YOU LOOKING AT?!" The knight yells in confuse of where they are staring. When he took a glance at that the direction they're looking, he hears a whistles and a dog suddenly meets his vision and took a bite on his expose arm.
"GROOOOOOWLLLL!"
"AAAARRRGH, MY ARM!" The knight screams in pain as the attack dog took a held of his arm holding a sword resulting for him to drop it and let go of the hostage. The rebels immediately make a move and subdue the man before the attack dog manage to grab his neck.
"Alright this one is done." The rebel said as he tied up the unconscious knight.
"Heh, so much for being a knight for just fainting himself from fear due to a dog bite." Another rebel commented in amusement. He started to think that is this really the reconquista they feared back in the past.
"Miss are you alright?" The other rebel tended the woman and asked for her condition.
"Y-yes...thank you..." The woman manage to reply.
"Miss I advise you to stay and hide in this shop for a while. Close the doors and make sure no one enters except people who has the same attire as us. We mean no harm so relax yourself." The rebel advised her.
"I-I understand..." Still confused in the situation she never imagined that this rumored rebels from the south could be this considerate. They saved her from the knight who should be their defenders instead this invaders are the ones who did.
"Alright guys let's carry this asshole outside." The rebel said and the two rebels nod and one help him carry their captive while the other one tend his dog and praise it for being well behave.
"Let's move!" The three rebels immediately left the shop while the woman stared at her unexpected heroes leaving the area.
(Capitol's Plaza, Londonium)
"PLEASE SAVE US!"
"I THOUGHT YOU SAID THAT THE REBELS WON'T REACH US HERE!"
"IT'S OVER WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"
Sounds of cries and wails of the people resounded all over the crowded plaza. Just a while ago when the aide summoned the people for his holiness announcement that they should not take the fliers warning seriously and it was all a bluff perpetrated by rebels. But when they saw the rebels make landing drop across the entire Capitol from the sky through giant metallic dragons they started to panic and make a commotion, demanding the aide of what is happening.
"ALL OF YOU CALM DOWN, THE SITUATION IS UNDER CONTROL!" The aide shouted on top of his lungs in irritation trying to ease the rising tension among the common folk.
'Damn it, what is happening?! How did the rebels lands from the sky and where did they get this dozens of flying beasts!' The aide thought in frustration.
The rebels who are very mysterious for them so far are now revealing themselves with some mysterious things in their possession. This mystery game is getting confusing as the time went by and they have no idea what are this rebels really. And now that they finally appeared here in Londonium, smokes, explosions and gunfire was all over the distance. The uneasiness the populace felt as those sounds of fighting are getting closer and closer by each time pass.
"Hey you! Why is our dragon units not dealing this rebels when they are still in the air?! What is General Mordred doing?!" The aide asked the nearest soldier impatiently as he also has no clue from the situation.
"I-I don't know milord but just awhile ago their is a smoke rising from where the dragon fort was before the rebels showed themselves from the sky!" The soldier footmen was able to answer him despite being also clueless. He only said what just witness before.
'Smoke from the fort...It can't be...!' When he hears the reply his expression turns dread as he thinks about the worst.
Meanwhile at the certain building overlooking the plaza, a group of rebels stationed at the top floor reporting the current situation of the Capitol square.
"Sir any news of the commander?" One of the rebels asked while looking at the scope of his assault rifle while monitoring the plaza.
"His halfway here, they've just facing some resistance along the way but they are already clearing it up." The fourth brigade commander replied to him.
" Hopes he arrives here fast before the situation in the plaza will get any worse because of this panicking people." The monitoring rebel said as he witnessing the public unrest within the plaza..
(Somewhere In Londonium)
"Hostile mages just creates a freaking wall!" A rebel yells as their forces was block by an earthen wall along the way.
"SHIT, WE'VE GOT ENEMY GOLEMS IN FRONT!" Another rebel yells as a number of golems suddenly pops out.
"GET THE JAVELIN UNITS HERE AND TAKE OUT THOSE GOLEMS!" Stanford yells as he calls out some backup. Soon a group of javelins arrives at their position.
"Javs here what's the situation?!" A javelin soldier asked the rebel officer.
"See those giants freaks. I want you and your team to take it out before it curbstomped our forces." Stanford points at the golems which are currently hurling some rock debris at the rebels who are trying their best dodging it.
"LOOK OUT!"
"SHIT, WE GOT A MAN DOWN!"
"Hurry before they cause any more casualties!" Stanford hastily said to the javelins to take action. The javelin soldiers then hurriedly position themselves and aim their javelins at the golems, unleashing a hail of rockets at their giant targets and obliterate then upon contact.
"Golems have been neutralized go for the offensive!" Stanford orders out a counterattack and the rebels proceed to push forward.
"Javelin units take down that wall in front of us!" Stanford orders out once again to remove the obstacle in front of them.
"A-firm sir." The javelin units fires their rockets once more in response to the command. The earthen wall build the mages crumbles by the sheer firepower. The enemies on the other side saw their defenses have been breached quickly runs away in panic.
"Chase them out with gunfire!" Stanford commanded and the rebels shoots the runaway hostiles. Many falls to the ground dead while others have wounded. As the fight gets settled Stanford calls out a rebel soldier.
"Quickly restrain and treat those who were alive but be wary that they might fight back despite their injuries. Bring the injured back to the medical camp along with our wounded." Stanford issued some orders to take care of the injured including theirs.
"Yes sir!" The rebel saluted and began relaying the orders.
"Alright the others proceed to move! We have schedule to reach!" Stanford his forces to continue push through.
(Medical Camp, Londonium Outskirts)
The medical camp that set up at the outskirts of the Capitol was brimming in activity. Many personnels are going to and fro treating the injured enemy of friendly alike from the battle. There are some guards stationed around the camp for protection from any possible outside force or if those wounded enemies that brought here would do something stupid.
"I need more bandages here!" Martha yells out she needed some additional bandages.
"On it mother!" Minnie quickly carry out some bandages and gives it to her mother.
"Just put it on here." Martha said pointing at the table and Minnie place it there. Minnie looks at the silhouette of her mother behind the curtains while treating the wounded patient on the bed. Minnie want to take a peek but her mother always prohibiting her from looking because she was too young to see such gruesome sight. She and her mother along with some civilians volunteered themselves to help for the cause to end the reconquista's tyranny and oppression. She and her mother almost a victim from the past offered themselves to serve the rebels even if it is in the rear especially wanted to repay the man that saved their lives before.
Their keep insisting makes their saviour gave in and assigned them at the medical corps. It was convenient and away from the battle, from any harm. Martha knowing this she told Minnie to not come along because she's too young to witness some severely injured and dismembered people in the war but Minnie with her stubbornness finally made Martha gives in because she of all people knew that her daughter will never take no as an answer.
"Um Minnie, would you please take me some alcohols over there!" A woman calls out on the other side and Minnie immediately complies.
"Okay, big sis Tiffania!" Minnie complies and hurriedly find some alcohols.
"Alcohols, alcohols...here!" Minnie scurried into some boxes and finally saw some alcohols. Tiffania being her teacher that teaches her how to read and write really helps her a lot to understand what's written in the bottles. She grab some and quickly brings it to the blonde elf.
"Here big sis!" Minnie handed out the alcohols.
"Thank you Minnie." Tiffania accepts it with a smile and place on the table beside.
"Now if you please Minnie I need to treat the patient now." Tiffania excuse Minnie to step aside as she will begin the treatment.
"Ah, okay!" Minnie despite a child still understands that seeing injured people will be really scary to see so she decided to step outside.
Tiffania then proceeds to treat the injured patient by cleaning the wounds using alcohol, even though it stings but she explains that it's to avoid infection. She then proceeds to heal the wounds using her healing magic.
"We need a double time lads. A new set of wounded has just arrived and they need our treatment ASAP!" The medical engineer announced to double the work as more batch of injured people has carried out from the frontlines.
Minnie hearing this returned back to work as she knew her efforts will save numerous lives and at the same time helping her hero. But then as she thinks about that, she prays that the commander will not end up one of the wounded people that will bring here in the camp.
(Capitol's Plaza, Londonium)
From the top building where the plaza can be seen the rebels are still currently on the hold and monitoring the events happening at the square.
"Sir the commander is here!" A rebel arrives at the building and reported that the overall commander has arrived.
"Finally, alright lead me to him." The brigade leader said and the rebel soldier escorted him down the building. When they reach the ground floor they saw Stanford waiting at the table.
"Greetings commander sir!" The brigade leader greeted in salute.
"At ease." Stanford return the salute.
"How's the situation?" Stanford then asked the current events at the plaza.
"Not good sir, the people gathered at the plaza shows signs of panicking. If we suddenly jump in there it might cause a stampede." The brigade commander said in distress.
"I see, then let's form a plan to stop that from happening while capturing the area without any issues." Stanford offers to form plan for the situation Capitol's square. As they're about to start a rebel suddenly comes in to report.
"Excuse for the intrusion sirs but the Bravo company commander has arrived and waiting outside." The rebel soldier reported.
"So they've arrived in a timely manner. Let him in." Stanford responds and orders the soldier to bring Bravo commander. Later, the Bravo commander enters and gives a firm salute.
"Sir I'm here to personally report." The Bravo commander said.
"What is your report?" Stanford returns back the salute and asked.
"I'm here to report that 80 percent of the Capitol is now under our control and the only ones not yet to be captured are the plaza and the palace itself. I already sent some relief units to some areas that we secured." The Bravo commander informed. This pleases Stanford, now everything is under control and the only ones remain is to give a final blow once and for all.
"Brilliant, thanks for the great news company commander. Now joins us as we will forming a plan to capture the Capitol's square." Stanford invites the Bravo commander to collaborate with them to seize control of the plaza.
(Havilland Palace, Londonium)
The situation they got in keeps getting worse. Waves of reports from the frontlines stated that the rebels are gaining control of all the areas around the Capitol. This bad news gives Cromwell and his people a huge crisis. Now along with his aides and ministers all assembled at the throne room for a discussion of what course of action they should do to halt the rebels advance.
"Marquis Graham, your are the war minister here. Is their any plan that should stop the rebels?!"An aide asked in concern. The Marquis could not quickly answer as he himself has no idea what to do. There situation is in critical, they got news before that both Generals Bowood and Mordred had slain in the battle and both gates had fallen in the hands of the rebels and so on as the other areas. Their numbers are alarmingly dwindling in each time pass as if this rebels are unstoppable to booth. They are being pushed back in a series of encounters by this unpredictable upstarts.
"Marquis Graham, is there any solution regarding this matter?" Cromwell's tone becomes warp and menacing that sent the Marquis into chills. The leader of reconquista himself is in a state of serious dilemma.
Never in his life that he would be in this kind precarious situation. The absurd reports that had been sending to him was astonishing. Rapid firing muskets, staff of destruction, and some metallic abominations. This informations are quite exaggerated that could put as a nonsense if he didn't witness some of this firsthand. Those giant metallic dragons and the rebels dropping from the sky using some kind of inflatable clothing are one of this traits so it wouldn't be surprise if they have more. Cromwell tried to think where this rebels get their hands on this kind of artifacts. As he thinks about he can only deduced of one thing, that their enemies are not humans but elves or rather demons from hell if you conclude this abominations. But whatever it is this so called rebels are definitely not normal. Their series of defeats would make sense if they account this kind of enemies they are facing.
'Just what exactly are they?' The only question in the renegade priest mind.
"The situation is getting worse, we must think of a counter plan before it's too late!" One of the ministers spoke in a worried tone as the bickering between them started to ensued. Some of them pointed at Marquis Graham since he manage the ministry of war while others to each other. The heated tension to find a solution on their darkest moments seems didn't matter to Cromwell himself as he's own thoughts was somewhere else.
"THAT'S ENOUGH! Nothing will come up if we started pointing to each other while the rebels is on our very doorstep. Since we've got a grasp of what they're capable of maybe we can find a countermeasure against this monstrosities they have!" The Marquis finally spokes after being pressured by this incompetent people around him. This the only plan he thinks, study the enemies otherworldly capabilities and create a plan to intercept it.
"THAT'S WISE OF YOU MARQUIS!"
"Yes, yes we agree with this plan!"
"As expected of the Marquis!"
They started to praise him as if they didn't blaming and pressuring him just a moments ago. Graham was really disgusted with this two faced bastards.
"Your holiness what do you think about this plan?" An aide asked as he looks at their stressful leader. Cromwell himself who is still quite all the time was shrouded in his own world.
"Your holiness?" The aide calls out in concern which finally caught his attention.
"Hm, ah what is it? Cromwell snaps out from his own thoughts.
"Umm, your holiness we just want your opinion-" The aide was interrupted when suddenly they heard a commotion outside.
"WAIT, WHO ARE YOU?! HOW DID YOU GET HERE?!" A guard standing outside suddenly yells out. Then out of a nowhere a series gunshots was heard on the other side.
"INTRUDERS!"
*bang, bang, bang*
"AAACK!"
"GUAAACKKK!"
"UUUGGHH!"
One by one the sounds of the guards being shot was disturbingly heard at the entrance.
"WHAT'S HAPPENING THERE?!" Cromwell shouted in concern standing up from his throne when they heard the alarming voices of the guards. All the people in the throne room tense up in fear as the other side became strangely quite.
Then out of nowhere the doors of the throne room suddenly becomes frozen in ice and breaks into smithereens as the smoke of explosion surround the entrance. From the cold smoke, mysterious figures emerge and entered the room in a quick pace. Surrounding the people inside with their peculiar weapons pointed at them.
"W-WHAT IS THIS, WHO ARE THIS PEOPLE?!" A minister blurted out of fear. All the nobles inside the room whimpered in their positions as they were thinking of only one thing.
The rebels are here.
A woman with two pistols in her hands follows up casually enters the room and face the nobles including the reconquista leader himself.
"Oliver Cromwell I believe?" Tanya said in question looking at the middle aged man wearing a priest clothing standing at the throne.
"YOU, WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?! DARE TO INFILTRATE THE HOLY PALACE?!" Cromwell with some anger yelled at the intruders but in his mind he already guessed who they might be.
"Ah sorry for not introducing ourselves. We are the rebel army and we're here to, of course apprehend you all." Tanya stated straight to the point in a casual tone. The nobles widened their eyes in this shocking confirmation, the rebels themselves has finally come to them.
"H-HO-HOW –!" Cromwell steps back in fear trembles and falls back to the ground with shock eyes. The nobles in the room becomes dreaded as they feel that their demise is near.
"So it's either you surrender yourselves or we will make it happen...in a hard way." Tanya emphasizes with intimidation as she cock her pistol to show that she's not fooling around.
Whimpering in horror some ministers began to kneel and beg for their lives but others are still defiant as ever. Their typical ego, nothing new.
"To hell with surrendering! I would never bow down to a bunch mongrels who thinks they betters!" Marquis Graham spoke in defiance.
"Heat hear, you peasants had a nerve to rebel to your masters! We should have teach you all a lesson if we knew this would happen!" An aide followed suit with his sheer protest and soon the others also did the same. Their arrogant defiance in the face of danger was truly a definition of a true fool that even their leader Cromwell himself also speaks.
"Th-that's right! You filthy upstarts should know your place! It is a divine will that we should unite all of realms and wage war against the elves that occupied our sacred lands! And you idiotic ingrates tried to stop this divine goal?! FOOLS, you will all be sentenced to hell for this transgressions!" Cromwell conduct his words with authority, using religion to deter people as always. His last resort to intimidate this rebels, after all they're still just a group of ignorant people that can easily believe to whatever superstitions they are spouting.
"That's enough with your tricks Cromwell." Suddenly they heard a voice that belongs to a person they all familiar with.
"This so called holy crusade of yours will do nothing but endless sufferings to many people!" Everyone's attention went to a certain person that makes an entrance in the throne room. The nobles especially Cromwell thrown in a collective gasps of shock.
"No...NO, THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!" Cromwell denies in a mortified shock as if he had seen a ghost. The nobles present in the room had a mixed of fear, shock and denial from their paling faces while looking at the person who they thought was supposed to be gone.
"P-PR-PRINCE WALES?!" One of the ministers exclaimed in fear as they saw the crowned prince of Albion himself alive and well.
"HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE, HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE LONG GONE BACK AT NEWCASTLE!" Marquis Graham shouted in shocking rejection.
"I was, perhaps. But thanks to my new allies I manage to survive just to bring you all into justice." Prince Wales said with scowling face that made them even squirming in fear. The prince then looks at the very person who backstabbed his family.
"It's over Cromwell, you and your band of traitors has nowhere to go. We've surrounded the entire Capitol and there's no way you can escape!" Wales said to Cromwell in a manner he could understand that their is no other options but a complete surrender.
"So all this time you are the leader of this commoner rebellion? I see it make sense now, after we've crushed the royalists this rebels just suddenly appeared out of nowhere at the same time." Cromwell deduced.
"I supposed I am but no, since I'm not the one who started this but that doesn't matter. The most important matter now is either you guys surrender or we will force you to do so!" Prince Wales declares as he sheathed his wand sword. With this declaration the reconquista was in a critical corner. No one knows what to do and what solution could help them to escape this hellhole.
"NO! I won't surrender, I will never back down without a fight!" Marquis Graham shouted in refusal to surrender. As a distinguished noble and a military official he would never make himself plummet down into shame of surrendering without even a fight.
As he was about to swing his wand wit a spell a gunshot was suddenly heard inside the room.
"BANG!"
"WHA-?!" His wand flings in the air by a gunshot courtesy of Tanya herself."
"Anyone that will resist will all answer to my gun. Am I clear?" Tanya said in warning. The no nobles went quite as if they already accept the it fate. Cromwell on the other hand was in a precarious dilemma. There's no way they would spare him if he surrenders himself and will definitely be hanged after this since he was the leader. With no choice remaining he tried his futile escape. He quickly runs away when everyone's attention was not on him.
"STOP HIM!" Prince Wales spotted his attempt and all of a sudden, Cromwell's legs got frozen.
"WHA-,.WHAT IS THIS?!" He was shock in stupor as his feet becomes frozen solid by an unknown source. Then Cromwell spotted the one responsible for it. It was a man in a white suit attire, some kind of a night that holds what seem to be tube like staff that releases some sort of ice magic from it's tip. This are the same rebels that suddenly enters and surrounds the whole room and now he was captured by it's peculiar sorcery.
'What kind of ice magic is this?!' He didn't even heard nor noticed them to cast a chanting spell and yet he was instantly freeze in his position.
"It's futile Cromwell, give up now and face your crimes against the people of Albion!" Prince Wales voice resounded In authority as the leader of reconquista himself realizes that he is no longer had a chance.
"NO IT CAN'T BE! THE HOLY CRUSADE, UNITING THE CONTINENT, MY DESTINY!" Cromwell could not help but wailed in despair with his ambition slowly fading away within his reach. He began to cursed everything and thinks where did it go wrong. That god should be on his side but it seems that the heavens have forsaken him and no longer smile upon him. His fanatical delusions and beliefs really brought him his downfall and that is the very thing will never realize or accept.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGHHH!" The last act of defiance he did was to scream in frustration that was heard throughout the palace. A sign in that the days of the holy state is over.
(Capitol's Plaza, Londonium)
"Is everyone in position?" Stanford asked through his comms.
"Yes sir, we're in position." The other line response.
"Good let's begin this little play." Stanford finalize as he was about to commence the biggest play. Adjusting his speakers, Stanford started to speak.
"TO ALL RECONQUISTA FORCES, THE PLAZA, IS SURROUNDED. LOWER YOUR WEAPONS AND WE WILL TREAT YOU AS HUMANELY AS POSSIBLE." Stanford speaks to his amplified speaker and issued an ultimatum to the forces stationed at the plaza.
Meanwhile, the reconquista forces from the plaza heard this strange voice demanding their surrender. Confusion and fear filled up the whole atmosphere of the plaza. Common people are now become much more desperate and with this announcement from the rebels that only added series of problems.
"W-what was that?!" A reconquista footmen heard a loud voiced echoed throughout the plaza.
"I-It's just said they are the rebels?!" Another footmen asked uncomfortably.
"N-no way, they're already here?!" A series of frightened commotion occurs among the people as they all heard the rebels stating they've surrounded them. The aide who speaks for Cromwell well aware that if that's the case then they are in a tight spot.
"NO NEED TO PANIC, WE MEAN NO HARM TO THE CIVILIANS. WE'RE ONLY HERE FOR RECONQUISTA TO DEMAND THEIR SURRENDER. IF YOU GUYS COOPERATE WE WILL GUARANTEE YOUR SAFETY." Stanford reassured to the civilian populace that they only here to make reconquista at the plaza submit.
"LIES, DON'T BELIEVE ON THEM, THEY'RE HERE TO KILL US ALL!" The aide standing at the wooden stage refuted Stanford's words as to not loose the civilians side. If the rebels are really already here, this will be a good opportunity to use them as meat shields to pave a way for him back to the palace to report to his holiness about the rebels advance.
'This ants would still believe whatever I say nonetheless.' The aide smirks as he continues his charade.
"THIS REBELS ARE HIDEOUS HEATHENS WHO SOLD THEMSELVES TO THE DEVILS! THAT VOICE WAS DEFINITELY USING SOME EVIL MAGIC TO MAKE IT LOUD! DO NOT LET THEM ENTICES YOU!" The aide yells out his words for the people to hear. To his words, some amongst the people might actually believe what he said but majority of them does want to give in since their is no hope to save them from this rebels.
"THIS IS A WARNING FOR RECONQUISTA, SURRENDER NOW OR WE WILL PUT YOU DOWN FOR GOOD!" Stanford issued a warning as his patience was getting short from this aide as he knows what's he up to.
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH YOU FOUL BEAST, BRIMIR WILL PUNISH YOU FOR YOU-"
"BANG!"
The aide retorted back but didn't finish as his head was shot by a sniper from distance. The people witnesses the aide stumbles down lifelessly on the stage as the footmen standing besides him wide eyed in complete horror.
"THIS IS MY LAST WARNING, SURRENDER OR SUFFER THE SAME FATE!" Stanford issued a final warning. Seeing the sudden death of the aide the remaining reconquista soldiers within the plaza was scared for their lives. Not wanting to suffer the consequences they decided to concede and hopes that rebels are true to their words.
Sounds of weapons clangs as the soldiers drop it one by one and raises their hands in the air to show their surrender. Stanford saw this development smiled in satisfaction and orders his men to meet them and apprehend. Finally, the last reconquista forces in the Capitol have surrendered.
(Havilland Palace, Londonium)
Moments have past since the rebels successful takeover operation of the enemies Capitol. Today, he is going to visit the palace to meet the infiltration unit he sent there to secure the place.
Stanford takes his first step inside the palace as he was greeted by the rebels that occupied the area with firm salute. Wales and Tanya are awaiting for him inside for the final report.
"Good job at capturing the palace guys. You work well done." Stanford praises.
"We're just following your instructions commander." Tanya politely replied.
"So, where are they?" Stanford asked about the prisoners.
"Cromwell and his followers are currently locked up in the dungeon beneath the palace. They will be there until they receive the right punishment for their crimes." Wales answered in response.
"I see, it seems everything went well so far. There are some casualties among our ranks but quite a few to account with but then again we all win." Stanford concludes and a moments of silence occurred afterwards until the prince finally said to himself.
" War has finally over, we won." Wales said in a peaceful manner.
"Not yet, we will expect some pockets of resistance amongst them especially from the north since we didn't venture there yet." Stanford deduced that their work is not done until any traces of reconquista will be wipeout in Albion. The two nodded to him as they looking forward for a great future awaits in this country.
And tomorrow a new dawn for this nation is about to begin and Stanford knew he still have a lot of work to do. The battle for Albion has finally near to it's end.
TO BE CONTINUED...
Wow, longest chapter I've ever write so far. It ended up long since I have to put some scenarios about the events transpiring around to get a clear picture of what's happening in every battle there.
Anyways, thanks for the people who reads this fanfic of mine and here's the extra for this chapter.
EXTRA:
(Downtown Tristainia, Tristain)
"Thank you Zaric for accepting this selfish request of mine." Henrietta thanked Zaric for escorting her taking a stroll at the streets of the Capitol.
Since they ease the pubic discontent regarding the heavy taxes that was implied by the corrupt nobles that most of them are collaborators of reconquista faction in Albion. Henrietta asked Zaric if their is any way that she could visit and secretly check her people's condition in the streets without any commotion.
Zaric suggested that they will disguised themselves as an ordinary citizen to mixed in the populace. Wearing a commoner clothing and hide their identity they started visiting the downtown where people are always present around.
"It's nothing much my friend since I have nothing to do today so I considered this as a form of vacation." Zaric replied with politeness.
"So, where do you want to go your majes- I mean my sister?" Zaric awkwardly asked and Henrietta giggles at the reaction. They posed themselves as siblings in this undercover stroll in order to hide who they are while having to see the places around.
"I want to taste some food that the common people usually eats here. My cousin Prince Wales always tells me everytime Albion makes a visit here about the food he eats when he was a kid while making a stroll in his Capitol. He always sneaks in to the palace and have interact with common people there so I was thinking if I will try the same thing today." Henrietta stated the very reason why she suddenly suggested this request.
"That's so mischievous of him, and you also want to try what he did back there then. Alright, if that's the case I have a certain inn here that I heard serves some good food." Zaric then offers her to a good eating place in the Capitol and leads her to that certain place.
(The Charming Fairies Inn)
"Zaric isn't this is a place where Mr. Saito and Louise makes their undercover mission according to their reports ago?" Henrietta whispers to Zaric as they in one of the tables inside the Charming Fairies inn.
This is the same inn where Saito and Louise made a commotion to bust a corrupt tax collector before...and also by the sheer of fate, the same place where the allied spies employed themselves in.
"Yes and I heard this inn becomes famous because they serve the most delicious food here that even nobles also started to visit this place." Zaric informed her about the recent status of the inn. This place was supposed to be open at night but due to it's sudden popularity thanks to the new dishes they served here the owner of this inn decided to open this place at daylight to get more customers. Now this place has become busy due to it's numerous visitors.
"Here is your order ma'am." A young girl wearing a maid outfit delivers their food in the table. She places the dishes and Zaric wide her eyes a bit as she recognizes some of this dishes.
"Enjoy your meal!" The young maid happily said as she leaves them to tend other costumers.
"Umm, Zaric is something wrong?" Henrietta asked Zaric when she saw her reaction.
"Ah, nothing. I've just recognize this dish they serve here." Zaric manage to reply as she compose herself.
"What do you mean?" Henrietta asked in wonder.
"This kind of dish they serve here although it has a different name it is the same dish that my old world has." Zaric answered in scrutiny.
"Your old world?" Henrietta said a bit confuse. She knows that Zaric was not of this world but she wonders it has to do with the dishes here.
"Anyways let's start eating before it gets cold." Zaric said and Henrietta nodded as they started having a meal but Zaric still in wonder who would create this dishes here unless Saito teaches the chef here of some food dishes before he leaves.
She will asked Saito about this matter after this. She got a feeling that this is something might worth looking. After meal, they continued their stroll into some places including the slums and the condition here until they decided to go back to the palace when Henrietta already satisfied seeing the livelihood of her people got even better than before.
This sudden discovery in this extra will have a contribution in the next arc.
