She turns to him, head thrown back in defiance as he rounds on her with a darkly ravenous chuckle. The hungry monster strikes, sucking the naive girl's face from her head without a trace of remorse. She does not even lend a whimper to the pain.
It's only after the girl crumples to the ground that Koh realizes his mistake. By then it's far too late, and the livid air monk it already charging foward, his angry cries echoing off the cave walls. This is the last thing the blinded monster hears before a swift knife of air cuts him into bleeding pieces.
Koh dies in a violent storm of wails and an ethereal supernova of bursting light.
Toph dies quietly in the Avatar's arms, unable to scream as her lungs burst and her life is slowly smothered out by suffocation.
Eyes blurred with tears, Aang cradles his fallen friend to him and cries enough for them both.
