Author's note: I don't own any of these characters.
Lucina stood in a defensive stance. "100 enemies! I hope they aren't as tough as the Risen were..." she thought.
Then all of the sudden, some teleports opened up and strange metal creatures jumped down. A blue one started to charge at Lucina. Lucina quickly jumped and flipped over it and delivered a deadly slash to its back. The steel creature flew away and smashed apart against the arena boundaries.
"One down, 99 to go..." thought Lucina to herself. "Hopefully I don't get beat up like that creature."
A green and a yellow creature also charged at her. Lucina delivered one slash to them each. They went flying like the other one had.
"97 left...this could be fun."
"Hey Master Hand! I did find Marth!" said Crazy Hand happily. "He was just standing at the entrance of the stadium!"
"What? Oh no...Crazy Hand! That wasn't Marth! That was Lucina! You sent our newest brawler to the hardest stadium!"
"Oh...oops." said Crazy Hand. "That would explain the mask..."
"Well, we will have an upset crowd if we were to pull Lucina from the brawl early, but we would have a riot if she got severely injured or worse. What to do..." thought Master Hand decisively.
Crazy Hand interrupted his thought. "Master Hand, if Lucina is fighting right now...where is Marth?"
Marth was still in the pit. "It looks like I'm not getting out of here anytime soon..." thought Marth. "And I'm hopelessly late for the brawl...this will not look good on my record. Do you think they will invite me back to the Smash Mansion next season? ...Not at this rate I tell you. Only Ike knew I was going up here. If he hasn't come up here looking that means...he is one of the fighters too. Shoot, now I'm definitely not getting out of here anytime soon..."
Lucina seemed to be faring quite well. "80 more left! And just one scratch!" she thought satisfied.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Marth appears to be doing very well! Let's say we make it a little harder and throw some brawlers in along with the alloys!"
"Of course," thought Lucina. "It was too easy so far. This might hurt a lot..."
"La la la la la!" sang a princess dressed in a pink gown. "Hiya Marth! How are you holding up?"
Lucina just stared at her and said nothing. "She is in the middle of a fight...in a dress! What does she think she's doing?" she thought.
Peach started to sulk. "Okay fine, be that way. But don't expect me to go down right away, alright? And cool mask! You look mysterious."
Peach suddenly kneeled down and picked up a turnip from the ground. She waltzed over to Lucina and threw it at her. Lucina quickly caught it and threw it back at a surprised Peach.
"Ow! Hey, no fair!" said Peach. Then she randomly grabbed a Toad out of nowhere and started to run at Lucina.
"Okay..." thought Lucina. "She is pretty weird." Lucina looked around her and saw a giant crate. She ran over to it and picked it up.
"I'm sorry..." she said quietly to Peach before launching it at her with all her might.
Poor Peach got hit right on and went sailing out of the arena. "Ugh. You win again Marth. But I'll get you next time!" she yelled at him.
After Peach left, six alloys appeared and charged at Lucina. Lucina slashed at two of them and they went flying. However, one of the four other alloys took advantage of Lucina's distraction and landed a massive blow on her. Lucina got knocked to the ground, gasping for air.
"Oh...this is looking serious," the announcer said. "Is it over for our emblem prince?"
"I was careless and paid the price," thought Lucina. "Ugh. I can't get up! But I must! I have too! I can't go down here. Everyone thinks I'm Marth. If I get defeated, it would look bad on him. I can't let that happen!"
Lucina quickly got up and shouted. "I say when it ends!" She then quickly executed a quick slash that knocked out the four alloys.
"73 left now... I'll have to be more careful from now on..."
Meanwhile Peach was feeling pretty disappointed. "I always lose at brawls! It's not fair! This is worse than having Bowser kidnap me! ...Actually no, being kidnapped is worse... And what was with that mask he was wearing?" Peach slapped herself. "Oh! Marth said the new brawler looked like him, but he had a mask! So what was he doing at the brawl? And where is the real Marth?" Peach quickly ran to the Smash Mansion to look for him.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" the announcer said once again. "Marth has defeated 50 enemies. He is half-way there!"
The crowd gave a cheer and a round of applause. "Marth, Marth Marth! Marth, Marth, Marth!"
"Since Marth is half-way through... let's send him a little surprise. Send out the next brawler!"
The next brawler to appear was a pink puffball. "PYOH! PAH!" it shouted excitedly.
"That's right!" said the announcer. "It's everyone's favorite pink puffball, Kirby!"
Lucina looked at it in awe. "A pink puffball... wasn't that on the contract? Yes, it stated 'swallowed by pink puffballs...' Oh, no... Is it going to eat me?!"
The puffball started sucking in air, floating high in the sky. Then it quickly turned into a boulder falling straight where Lucina was standing! Lucina just barely managed to dodge Kirby as he landed with a thud on the ground beside her.
Kirby almost looked disappointed after that. He started to inhale everything that got in range. Lucina tried to run, but she knew she was slowly getting pulled to Kirby.
"I am not getting swallowed by a puffball!" Lucina thought panicked. She looked around for something to hold on to or throw. As if on cue, a blue spiky object fell out of the sky right in front of Lucina. "This better work..." she thought to herself as she threw it at the puffball's gaping mouth.
It did work. Before Kirby knew it, he had chomped on a very spiky Clu Clu. The force of it sent Kirby flying out of the arena.
Lucina quickly sighed in relief. "That was close! Only 49 to go!"
"Marth! Oh Marth... MARTH! WHERE ARE YOU?" shouted Peach. She started to get frustrated. "Hmm...Maybe Ike knew where he was before the brawl. But he should be brawling any minute now..."
Meanwhile, Lucina was starting to feel very tired. "Only 21 left... I can do this...I still got this..."
Then she heard the dreaded announcer. "Ladies and gentlemen! Marth has taken down everyone that has come at him so far! But how will he fare...against his best friend Ike? Let's find out!"
Another teleport opened up and a mercenary with crazy blue hair kept back with a black headband stepped into the arena. Not looking up he started to speak. "Sorry, Marth. Nothing personal. But since we're friends, I might go easy on you." He then looked up and realized who he was speaking to.
"Hey...it's you! The mysterious swordsman! How did you get here?" Ike questioned. Leaving Lucina no time to respond, he continued. "But if Marth's not here...where is he?" He quickly pointed his sword at Lucina and shouted. "I won't go easy on you!"
He jumped into the sky and yelled. "AETHER!" He then aimed his sword to do a deadly stab at Lucina. Lucina nearly froze to the spot as Ike charged at her, but she managed to shake herself out of her frozen state and roll out of the way just in time, but he did pin down her cape. She instantly tripped.
"I knew it was a stupid idea wearing that..." Lucina muttered under her breath. She knew she had to get free or else. Ike meanwhile looked like he was ready to punch her to death. Lucina, without hesitating grabbed her sword and sliced off part of her cape and somersaulted away. What Lucina didn't realize was that she rolled herself off the edge. She quickly grabbed the ledge and held on for dear life.
Ike looked at her smiling. "Don't look down!" He was thoroughly surprised when Lucina didn't and tried even harder to pull herself up. He slowly walked over to the edge and looked at her. "Who are you?"
Lucina gasped, knowing that she wouldn't be able to hang on much longer. "I'm...not...Marth..."
"Kind of figured that," scoffed Ike. "But if you aren't going to tell me... this match is over!" He bent down to pry her fingers off.
"No!" thought Lucina. "It can't end like this!" She used the last of her strength to grab Ike's arm, then flipped herself over Ike and back onto the ledge. Then she shoved Ike off so he was hanging like she was just moments earlier.
"Well done...looks like you got me..." said Ike. "Well, even if you're not Marth, you certainly fight like him. You have earned my respect. I would like us to meet again, as friends."
Before Lucina could do anything else, Ike let go of the ledge. "NO!" she yelled. But to her relief, a hovercraft picked him up and carried Ike out of the arena. Lucina was still pretty shaken.
"I want this sick match over!" she thought angrily. "Just 20 people left... then I can stop. This can finally be over..."
Peach ran to where the contestants entered brawls. She inquired where Ike was and found out that he had just been defeated in the brawl. She went to the spot where defeated brawlers could rest and recuperate before stepping back into the mansion. Sure enough, Ike was sitting there resting.
"Hey Ike..." said Peach noticing how disappointed he looked.
Ike looked up at the princess. "Oh hey Peach. What's up?"
"Not much, but I was wondering, when was the last time you saw Marth?"
Ike thought for a moment then answered. "Well...I last saw him in our room last night. He talked about seeing the swordsman before his brawl. After that, I don't know."
"Hmm...Maybe we should look there. You never know!" Peach suggested. "Can you walk?"
"Of course I can walk!" said Ike smiling. "Now, let's find Marth!"
They ran to the Smash Mansion and climbed the stairs that led to Lucina's room. Half-way up the stairs they heard shouting.
"Quickly!" said Ike to Peach. "We must hurry!"
Marth was sitting in the pit about to give up when he heard footsteps. "HELLO? IS SOMEONE THERE? PLEASE, HELP ME!" he shouted. He heard the footsteps quicken then he saw Peach and Ike lean over the edge of the pit. "Oh thank goodness!" Marth said happily. "I thought I was never getting out of here!"
"How did you get in there?" questioned Ike. "Well no matter."
Ike bent down and grabbed Marth's hand and pulled him out.
"Thanks guys," said Marth. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a brawl to attend to..."
"Well..." said Ike. "You might have trouble with that."
Marth turned to look at him. "How come?"
"The mysterious swordsman showed up for it. To tell you the truth, I think it was a mistake. I had him at a tough spot and then he said that he wasn't you."
"Well, I guess we should go watch and see how he fares." Said Marth. "Let's go!" The trio quickly ran to the stadium. They got there in time to hear the next announcement.
"Ladies and gentlemen!"Said the announcer. "Marth has defeated 99 enemies! Just one more adversary left! Are you excited?"
The crowd cheered loudly in response.
"Well then, send out the final challenger!"
Lucina started to feel happier, "I'm almost done! One more..."
Then a teleport opened up. It was a duplicate of Marth! He was dressed totally in black, and he looked vicious.
"I hate that part." Said Marth looking at Ike. "I hope he does alright..."
The dark Marth pointed his sword at Lucina and charged at her. She managed to block the attack and hold it, their swords locked. Lucina panicked.
"I can't hold it for long!" she thought. The dark Marth knocked her back against the edge of the arena. Then he spoke to here with a chilling voice.
"It's over for you now. You, have lost! I'm you, so I know how you move and how you fight. You cannot stop me!"
Lucina looked past him and noticed a strange floating orb with rainbow-light animating from it. Lucina didn't know what it was but she knew she had to get it.
Lucina gained a surge of confidence. "That's where you're wrong!" she then quickly jumped over the dark Marth and grabbed the orb. Now that she had it, she didn't know what to do. The dark Marth looked at her suddenly fearful. Lucina looked at him then pointed her sword as if she was going to break through the orb. When she saw how afraid he was, she promptly sliced the orb into two.
Lucina felt herself getting a strange energy. She felt like she could do anything. She pointed her glowing Falchion high in the sky and yelled. "You will not stop me!" Then she charged at the dark Marth. Then she twirled her sword and did a brutal slash. The dark Marth flew away, bounced off the arena boundary, and then fell into the chasm beneath them.
Everyone was silent. Then the announcer spoke up. "Ladies and gentlemen! Marth has done it! The victor of the Hundred-Man- Brawl is Marth!"
The crowd started to cheer. Everyone was proud of the swordsman from Fire Emblem.
Lucina stood there. "I've...I've done it...It's over..." she thought. Then she realized how exhausted she was. The sound of the roaring crowd slowly drowned out. Lucina gasped then collapsed to the ground. Now everyone was in a riot.
"Oh no!" yelled Peach. "Now what?"
Before any of them could do anything. A hovercraft flew over the stadium. Master Hand hovered out and carefully picked up Lucina to carry her to the infirmary. As Master Hand picked her up, Lucina's mask fell off and clinked on the arena floor.
"That does not look good," said Ike turning around to see Peach and Marth. "Uh...Where is Marth?"
Meanwhile Marth was already running to the infirmary...
And that concludes Chapter 4. This was my first time describing any kind of fighting scenes so it might have dragged on a little.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and as always, reviews are appreciated! Until next chapter!
