*A Year Later*
The people of the town that now sat on the very land that I called home not so long ago, stared in disgust at me and my two warrior friends, Iya and Capa. I glared back in distorted rage, my arms trembling in sadness and loss.
Iya spit upon the ground in disgust while Capa clenched and unclenched his hands in anger.
I glared at the ground in rage. "Takuwe!" ((Why!)) I threw the rock that I was holding on the ground anger filling me to the brim. We were gone a winter and the white men have built on sacred land!
I motioned for Iya and Capa to follow me as I stomped up to the center of the town.
Woman hid behind their hubands and whispered to their friends while men placed their dirty hands upon their guns and spat on the ground. Once we reached the center of the new town, I glanced around looking for the town mayor and sheriff.
"Indians are not allowed in town limits, so I suggest you leave immediately before I put a bullet in the back of your head." Iya and Capa immediatly turned around, bows focused on the pale face with the shiny new badge. I slowly turned around and smiled at the sheriff. He was around five foot five with short, greasy dark hair and gleaming eyes. I walked to the man-noticing that we were surrounded by the townspeople-before stopping a few feet away.
"You must be the town sheriff. I am called Black Bear, cheiftan of the Lakota tribe at Big Hill." I said returning to my savage ways by slouching onto my long bow and looking down my nose at the Pale Face.
The man shifted on his feet glancing around, before extending his hand in temporary peace.
My warriors did not see it as that. "Wakta Yo!" ((Watch Out!)) they yelled in suprise.
They both yelled cries before pushing me back and getting in between the sheriff and I. The held their bows out and whooped at the approaching White Men. Iya crawled backwards, extending a hand to help me up from the dusty ground while Capa held his own.
"Inaji, Capa!"((Stop)) I yelled out before grabbing his arm and throwing him on the ground, where i was just laying. "He meant no harm, Gnaye!" ((Fool)) I spat on the ground near Capa before motioning Iya to help him up. "Do not interfere with my business, ever!"
I handed Capa his bow that had fallen on the ground near my feet and then motioned them to stay before turning back to the shocked sheriff.
I shook my head and stepped closer, causing him to step back, his hand on his gun. Seeing him reach for it angered me to no end.
"Look, Sheriff, this was my land way before it was yours so excuse me for being shocked to see pale faces stomping all over sacred land." The sheriff's expression turned smug and greedy.
He reached out again and put his finger on my chest. "Look here injun, when your tribe packed up and left to bury that nasty excuse for a leader, Standing Bull, we recieved orders to build. This land belongs to the United States now, so I suggest you go back to your reservation."
The sheriff glanced back at his friends, smiling smugly. My eyes were wide in anger as I reached for the mans finger that he had on his chest and betn it backwards, immersing myself in his screams of pain.
I was about to pull my dagger when i heard the clicks of hammers being pulled back and glanced up to see a dozen or more men pointing their guns at me.
I smiled and let go of the Sheriff, watching him hit the ground before raising my hands in surrender. "Alright, we're leaving, but before we go," I grinned in malice down at the sheriff before stomping down on his wounded hand with my bare feet. "I dont care what you suggest sheriff, if you ever touch me again I will rape your pretty little woman over there and then skin her alive." I said and then winked at the woman I knew was the Sheriffs wife because of how she fawned over him in his smug moments and worried in his pain-filled moments.
I then stood straight and motioned Iya and Capa to follow before walking towards the way we came into town. The crowd parted far from us as we joked at each other in the Lakota language and shoved each other with our bows.
The townspeople followed us to the edge of the town and forest. I mounted my horse that was tied to a short fir near the forest and watched Iya and Capa do the same before kicking Crazy Horse into a gallop. As we were galloping away i saw a sign that read, 'Welcome to the town of Lakewood!'
A flurry of bullets followed us into the forest. Iya, Capa, and I whooped our war cries as we galloped back to our reservation.
Thiswasn't the last time the townspeople of Lakewood saw us. It was only the beginning.
But the beginning of what, exactly?
