Faster Than a Kiss: Ever After
Disclaimer: I do not own Faster Than a Kiss!
Previous re-cap:
"Even if she was to bringing someone home, don't you think that hell would erupt and you'd scare the poor boy away?" Fumino asked expecting her husband to disagree.
But he surprised her when he replied, "Absolutely."
Fumino and Akari watched as Kazuma returned to his post whistling a happy post. "If you ever bring home a guy, introduce him to me first, that way I'll have a chance to shimmer the volcanic eruption down a bit. Maybe." Fumino whispered into her daughters ear and privately they laughed behind Kazuma's back.
"So mom, How did you fall in love?" Akari asked again, wanting to hear the reply. "Did you fall in love faster than a kiss?"
Chapter Two:
Akari sighed in disappointment. She had wanted to go to the cake shop near the train station with her friends but was being held back by her mother. Why on earth was she babysitting Jun today of all days? Then again, she remembered that today was Uncle Teppei's award ceremony and some idiot on the planning committee made a rule that children five and under weren't allowed to attend. She wanted to see Uncle Teppei receive his award plus everyone else was going: mom, dad, uncle Ryuu, uncle Shoma and Aunt Meg and even uncle Tomoyuki with aunt Tomoe. It was unfair but then again, uncle Teppei promised he'd show Jun and her after the ceremony after all he'd be staying overnight.
As Akari looked outside the window the skies kept reminding her the incident that had occurred the day before. The mysterious boy's green eyes kept flashing back at her. They seemed to hold mystery but also within it a great deal of sadness. She wondered what would make a boy like him sad. Then she remembered his laughter and her heart skip a beat. His laughter sounded like the sweetest sound she'd ever heard. He made her head spin. Foreign feelings overwhelmed her and she had no idea how to cope with them. No! Stop thinking about him already! He's not worth any time! The boy almost died drowning in the water! Okay…I'm going to concentrate on something other than him! She vowed to herself and let the thoughts of him disappear from her mind.
"Yo Akari!" Hana- chan called out.
Hana was one of Akari's best friends in the entire school. They had met back in primary school. Hana took a seat beside Akari and took out a magazine. Hana along with Akari's other friends Momoko and Megumi all had an avid interest in the celebrity world, especially idols. Ugh, Akari hated talking about things like that but all three were already seated around her table and the magazine was set in the middle of the desk.
"Hey did you hear, Shin is holding a concert soon, the tickets go on sale today!" Momoko cheered.
Megumi let out a dreamy sigh, "Shin is just so cool. I really want to go to his concert but I'm afraid it'll be sold out or something."
Akari looked at them in confusion, what on earth are they talking about? Coughing dramatically- Akari asked, "Who is Shin?" With the collective gasps that followed, she knew she was going to be given an ear full of the great Shin, whoever he was.
"Who is Shin?" Hana imitated Akari with a scandalized gasp. "He is one of the hottest, most popular idol out there. He has already made a name for himself in the past year and half. He's currently gone into acting and not only that—he also has the voice of an angel, which only add to his looks!"
"All his concerts end up being sold out in three minutes flat, it's almost impossible to get any seats." Momoko added, "I really want to go to his concert once! I want to him in person!"
"There has got to be his picture in this magazine somewhere." Megumi started to flip through the magazine. "I heard that there were rumors that he'd started going out with the actress Sakura. Wouldn't that just be a beautiful couple?"
"No! I don't want him taken! He looks so much nicer single!" Momoko cried out.
Akari looked at them with a raised eyebrow, "Really guys? All this for a guy who is just as human as us? I could care less about people like him. They all probably think their better anyway."
"Found it!" Megumi claimed as she shoved the magazine to Akari's direction.
"No thank you." Akari said as she closed the magazine and returned it back. She had no interest in the boy who had stolen millions of hearts across the country.
"Oh, come on Akari!" Hana pleaded with magazine opened again.
Akari just shook her head and walked out of the classroom and to the hallway window which overlooked the field. A phone vibrated and Akari opened the message that had come from her dad.
To: Akari- chan!
There's a blue bird outside my window! It looks so beautiful!
-Your awesome dad
Akari shook her head at her father's random texting. He often did this whenever he felt he wanted to do something totally out of the box. Akari went back to looking at the sky, not bothering to reply to her dad's text. He was used to it already. No matter what she seemed to do, she couldn't get the boy's green eyes and laughter out of her head. She gave up trying to forget him. She just wondered if he still remembered her. If he remembered her boring grey eyes? She decided he'd probably forgotten because she had smacked his head with her bag.
That day as she returned home she could hear Jun crying. She hadn't seen the boy by the river side, especially since she went out of her way to go home that way. He was gone and she'd most likely never see him again.
"Ah, there you are Akari!" Fumino looked at her eldest daughter then approached her. "What's going on?"
Akari shook her head and smiled falsely, "Nothing, why do you assume something happened?" Akari tried to get to the kitchen. She hated lying to her mother.
Her mother's hand on her arm stopped her, something to note: Ojiro Fumino has one strong grip! "Akari, I can tell when you are sad. What happened? Is it…could it be…a boy?"
Looking into her mother's wide eyes, Akari knew she was in trouble. A sniff of the truth and her mother would be on her. Akari tried to think of a lie that would suit the situation, something that her mother would believe without doubting her. But thank fully her dad saved the day. Akari watched him swing Jun into the air, heard her mother gasp and felt an urge to roll her eyes when her mother made her way to her dad.
"Kazuma, what on earth are you doing?" Fumino glared at Kazuma, who looked back at her guiltily.
"Look. Jun was enjoying it. Plus he was sad because he isn't allowed coming to Teppei's ceremony, so I was just helping out. You liked it didn't you, Jun?" Kazuma asked as he held Jun firmly in his arms.
"Uhn!" Jun grinned, "It was swo awesoommeee! I was flywing mommy!" Jun grinned sweetly. The little boy knew exactly how to get out of trouble.
Akari let her dad try to solve the problem on his own as she made her way towards the living room and sunk down onto the couch. She turned on the TV and began to flip through the channels till a pair of jade eyes made her freeze and flip back to them. She looked at the boy she'd saved yesterday, except he looked different. He was wearing a tailored suit with his jet black hair sleeked back. His eyes sparkled and stood out more. He was smiling at the TV personality asking him questions about the particular event. Despite all that, only one thing ran through Akari's head:
What the hell?
Author's note: I know the chapter is short but I'll make the next longer. I've decided to continue Akari's story! It took a lot longer to post because my health actually got really bad in between and then I had to concentrate on catching up on everything I missed and my fanfictions got pushed back over and over again. I want to thank everyone that reviewed! I'm going to try to update as soon as possible! Thanks for hanging in there! All your reviews made it possible for me to come back to fanfiction! Thanks everyone!
