Chapter 3 : The Guests

The door slammed with a loud bang and all occupants of the rooms froze and quickly turned their gazes to Mitsu. My breath hitched in my throat and I leaned forward to check on the blonde. He shifted a bit, readjusting his head which rested in my lap. A moment of tense silence fell before we all let out whispery breaths of relief. The boy remained sound asleep. We we're all sitting on sofas in silence, except for Kyouya was oddly enough not present today.

"Tamaki, are you out of your mind!" Haruhi harshly whispered to the approaching blonde.

Tamaki winced a bit at his accusatory tone before throwing the brunette boy an apologetic smile as he sat down beside him.

"I didn't know he was asleep," Tamaki clarified in the softest voice I've ever heard the guy speak in.

"The king just tried—"

"—To get us all killed."

"Seriously though, Tamaki," I glared half-heartedly now that the storm had passed, "It's my lap he's sleeping on. That means I would've been the first to die."

The taller blonde again whispered an apology with that stupid grin of his and I waved it off nonchalantly. I'd been coming to Ouran far more often than I had anticipated or, initially, ever wanted to. I'd only been a visitor for a week or two, but now being here was abnormally normal. All the girls seemed to know the name of their commoner girl. They were quite eager to have met a female commoner as well as a male commoner, aka Haruhi. And still have no idea why were considered commoners. I'm no genius, but last I checked the_ system was long gone. Seriously, though. I felt Mitsu shift in my lap again and looked down to see sleepy golden eyes gazing up at me. He blinked blearily before bringing his hands up to rub at his sleep-ridden eyes.

"Hey, Scout. Did we wake you?" I asked as I properly arranged and smoothed his messy bangs.

Mitsu shook his head as he rolled over to sit upon his knees, still rubbing at his eyes. I silently grabbed his hands taking them from his face.

"What did I tell you about rubbing at your eyes? You'll only make them red. Instead, just wash your face."

Mitsu let out muffled and disgruntled whines while I silently chuckled.

"Who would've thought you'd be so doting," Tamaki said from the sofa across from me.

"I am not doting," I bit out as I let go of Mitsu's hands and stood to my feet, stretching my legs out, before turning back to Mitsu, "Now let's go get your face washed, yeah?"

Mitsu nodded slowly before standing up and slipping a small hand into my own.

"Doting~!" Tamaki sang and I stuck out my tongue at him.

Tamaki and I had strangely grown close in the past few days. I'm not saying that it makes him any less weird, but I'm certainly more accustomed to his…disposition. Turns out, they guy is pretty entertaining, even if he doesn't always mean to be. I'm saying I like him either! He's just not so bad to have around. The twins were a whole other story. I'm telling you now, but I think those two, Mitsu, Kyouya, and Mori (I somehow started to call everyone by their actual names) all have some sort of telepathic powers, because I swear they never actually speak, but they always know what you're thinking or about to say. It's as cool as it is weird. I shook my head as I wrung the wet towel out over the sink…in the music room. Since when did music rooms have sinks? I know I should really just stop asking these kinds of questions, but sometimes I just can't help it. I gave the towel one last squeeze before kneeling to Mitsu's height and washing his face.

"I can do it," he mumbled and I couldn't help but smile.

"You know, you sound just like my little brother," I said as I gave him the wash cloth.

"You have a little brother?"

"Yeah. His name is Touya."

"Do you have any sisters?" Mitsu asked innocently as he set down the cloth.

The question was innocent enough, but my heart stopped.

"Chi-chan?"

I snapped back to reality and quickly stood back to my feet, "You must hungry, huh? I hear that sleeping builds an appetite. Weird, huh?" I rambled as I walked back to the other host members, Mitsu following behind, confused and dazed, though I doubt it was still due to his post-sleep exhaustion.

"So how about we get something to eat," I suggested, leaning over the couch and in between Tamaki and Haruhi, who had been reading his chemistry book.

"We already have food, Chi-chan!"

"Something besides cake!" I playfully responded, rolling my eyes slightly in the process.

Mitsu puffed out his cheeks, but it was obvious he was trying not to smile. He hid his face in my side and I laughed, wrapping an arm around him and Usa-chan.

"Ah, I know!," Haruhi said as he snapped his book shut and help up an index finger (Haruhi does that a lot when he has a point to make or something important to say), "There's this restaurant that just opened not too far from our apartment complex."

"Oh yeah! I heard that place has been getting pretty good reviews," I replied as I eyed Haruhi's enormous textbook with unease. Goodness, the guy was such a nerd!

"I wanna go there! I wanna see Chi-chan's house!"

"Nah, I doubt it. You've been to Haruhi's right?" I asked the eager blonde who quickly nodded, "Well, it's not that different."

"Aww! Chi-chan!"

"Aww! Mitsu!"

There was that adorable pouty face. God, I just love to tease people. Especially adorably cute people, like Mitsu and my Touya.

"Well, if you promise to stop pouting…"

"Yay! Did you hear that Takeshi? We get to see Chi-chan's house!" he exclaimed as he bounded off to his, as I eventually discovered, cousin (they're not brothers apparently).

Mori gave Mitsu a soft smile, patting the bot on his head as he danced around with Usa. Suddenly, Mori looked over to me, catching me off guard. I gave him my usual awkward wave and a smile. His face seemed contemplative as he stared at me, ignoring the idle chatter between Tamaki, Mitsu, and the twins. But in a blink of an eye, his attention was back to his smaller cousin. I have no idea about that one. He seems sweet enough, with the way he coddles Mitsu, but lately he's been giving me…looks. I don't know how to describe it. I don't think it's out of distaste, but no one here exactly makes much sense. I let out a sigh and ran a hand through my hair.

"Alright then. Let's head out!" I exclaimed.

"Hikaru! Kaoru! Whichever one you are! Keep your hands off my food!" I chided, gesturing to one of the twins with my fork.

"Aww! Chi-chan is so mean," he taunted back.

"Hey! It's Chiharu-san to you. Only Mitsu can call me Chi-chan. Plus, I'm older, so be respectful."

Both the twins just laughed and I shook my head and glared before eating a forkful of rice.

"Can I try some, Chi-chan?" Mitsu asked as he leaned over to me, eying my plate.

"Sure thing, kiddo!" and with that Mitsu eagerly reached over and took a piece of teriyaki from my plate.

"Mmm! It's good!" he replied amidst his chewing.

"Isn't though! How's yours?" I asked resting my chin on top of my hand.

"Here," he replied pushing his plate closer to me. I reach over and try some of his chicken.

"Wow. The lemon flavor actually isn't too bad."

Mitsu nodded happily before turning to Mori and trying some of his food.

"Did you want to try some, Haruhi?" I asked catching the brunette off guard.

"How come Haruhi can try—"

"—But we can't?"

I chuckled evilly before jabbing my fork in the twins' direction, "Because I like Haruhi and I don't trust gingers."

"With good reason too. At least in their case," Tamaki threw in as he looked between the twins.

"See! Tamaki agrees!" I stated as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Brother, I do believe the world must be ending—"

"—Yes, indeed it must be."

"Oh? And why is that?" I asked playing along.

"It's probably because you and Tama never agree," Mitsu offered helpfully.

Mori nodded in agreement before taking in another sushi roll.

"What are you guys talking about? Tamaki and I agree on just about everything, right Tamaki?"

"Right!"

"See! Agreement."

Haruhi just laughed as he took a piece of teriyaki from plate, followed by Tamaki.

"Oi, what the hell Suoh!? I didn't say you could have some!"

"No, you didn't. See, agreement," he replied rather proud of his quick witted response.

To be honest, I was fairly impressed myself, "Well played, Blondie. Well played."

Laughter erupted from our table. I'd given up all prior notions of choosing whom I could share my food with. Besides, I had to admit that it was pretty fun to just share. Not that I'd say that out loud or anything. I looked around to my newly found lunatics. I mean let's be honest. I'm used to having nothing but guys as friends, but these guys were in a league of their own. A psychotic league all their own.

"I'm home!" I called out as I opened the door, slipping off my shoes and gesturing for the boys to follow suit.

"Oh, good! Sis, I can't get past that level where Artemis and Wei fight. It's getting pretty frustrating—!" I heard Touya say from the living room, mostly like on the couch with a coke and eyes glued to the TV.

"I can't right now, Touya. Maybe later," I replied slipping out of my sweater and walking to the

"What do you mean later!? I need your help now! You walking in when you did was the Gods answering my pleads!"

Just as I entered the room I saw the signature 'game over' wipe across the screen. The look on Touya's face was one to be remembered for days to come. He was biting down on his lower lip and as he slowly nodded his head, clearly disgruntled.

"Okay game. I see how it's going to be. So that's how it's going to be," he muttered, glaring at the TV rather visciously.

"Oh, god. Touya, your face is horrifying," I teased between laughs, leaning against the frame of the archway.

Touya lazily tossed the remote aside before slinking down on the couch and crossing his arms across his chest, obviously pouting.

"It wouldn't be if you'd just help me."

"Aww! Touya you have got to be the cutest thing I've ever seen!"

"M'not cute…" he muttered, pouting more.

"Anyway, I have guests. That's why I can't help right now.'

The word 'guests' seems to catch my baby brother's attention and he quickly looks over to me to see the entourage I brought home. He silently stares at the guys before speaking.

"Good luck getting them all to fit in your room."

"Well, I was hoping I wouldn't have to," I say as I walk over and sit beside him, wrapping an around his shoulder and pulling him to my chest, "because I just thought that my favorite brother would let use the living room."

"I'm your only brother!" he replies as he tries to untangle himself from my arms.

"And I don't love you any less for it!"

"Fine, the room is yours. Just get off me!" He shouted finally managing to wriggle free and stumbling to his feet.

"Look, you smudged my glasses. Thanks a lot, Sis," he whined as he tried to clean his lenses with the edge of his shirt.

"Don't mention it, bro," I replied with a wink.

Touya muttered something intelligible before heading off upstairs. After he was out of sight, I burst out into laughter.

"Oh my god! He is the cutest, I swear," I managed to say, arms wrapped around my stomach.

"Yeah! I like your brother," Mitsu said as he threw himself upon my lap.

I patted the top of Mitsu's head before urging the others to make themselves as comfortable as they could, considering how small our living room was.
