Kuroko No Basuke (c) Tadatoshi Fujimaki

Plot by TunaForDesert

Warning: AU, Twins!AkaKuro, sibling rivalry

There were five freshmen who managed to get into first string in their first try. Namely, Midorima Shintaro, Aomine Daiki, Murasakibara Atsushi, Akashi Seijuro, and a new transfer student who just entered basketball club two weeks ago, Kise Ryouta. This very achievement is the first time to be found in a decade—that there were actually freshmen who could enter the first string in their first try—and it gave a promising hope to the principal to raise Teiko's prestige.

The five of them were well-known by the entire member of Teiko basketball club, even students from other club recognized their names. But, only a few knew four out of five among them came from the same elementary school.

"Aominecchi, Midorimacchi, Murasakicchi! It's nice to meet you all here again~" Said Kise Ryouta before a morning practice began cheerfully.

"How unfortunate… Oha-Asa said that I will be unlucky today, but to think it involves your presence in the third string…" Shintaro mumbled.

"Does Midorimacchi mean that you're unlucky because I'll surpass your basketball?" Ryouta asked cheekily.

"Don't get cocky, Kise-chin…" Atsushi said lazily. "Everybody here knows you barely started playing basketball at your middle school debut… the three of us already knew how to make freethrows before you even mastered soccer."

"I know we've been separated since second grade because I joined soccer and baseball club when you guys joined youth basketball team… but it doesn't mean I'm now too late to master basketball!"

"That's the spirit! Now let me teach you basketball before the practice begin!" Daiki dragged Ryouta to the other side of the court.

"Neh~ I never know Mine-chin is so kindhearted~"

Shintaro scoffed. "He's just a basketball idiot, that's all. As long as it makes him able to touch basketball, he doesn't mind."

Atsushi shrugged it off. "Ne, do you think Kise-chin will master basketball in short time?"

"What are you talking about? If he hasn't mastered it, he won't be in the first string now." Shintaro fixed his glasses.

"I'll only acknowledge his basketball skill if he has surpassed us."

"Then it's a whole different thing, now. If we judge him by how fast he learned soccer, baseball and swimming at short amount of time simultaneously back in the elementary, then we should not doubt it. But I'd like to say he'll only be on par on us, rather than surpass us. He isn't the only one who can grow his basketball."

"Well, it's troublesome. But I hate losing, so I should agree with you on this."

"But," Shintaro leaned on the wall. "There's a person who, even though he only started playing basketball at fifth grade, Kise will never reach, not even his toes."

"Are you talking about Aka-chin?"

Shintaro noticed the nickname. People like Ryouta and Atsushi would call close friends from childhood by their nickname. If there were other people they call by nicknames outside of childhood friends, it means they respected them. By this, Shintaro can conclude that Seijuro had gained Atsushi's rare respect. And Shintaro predicted that Ryouta would give Seijuro a nickname by no time.

Seijuro capability shall not be questioned. After all, though he only started playing basketball later than Shintaro and the others did, he was much stronger that no one would doubt he would lose playing one on one against senpais from second year.

It was rather scary for Shintaro.

"Well, who else?"

"Nee, Aominecchi," Ryouta finally managed to talk between those heavy breathe. Trying to catch up to Daiki wasn't a small task, after all. "I get a new friend from my class! I think I can trust him!"

Daiki knew Ryouta's issue about fake people. Thus, this topic brought the tanned teen's attention, especially when no one of the three was in the same class with Ryouta. "Who?"

"His name is Kuroko Tetsuya!" Ryouta grinned.

"He must be an interesting person, yeah?"

"He is! The first time I talked to him is when I was in the third string for a day. He told me he is trying hard to enter first string and able to play in the official court. I can tell he's working hard and never give up even though coach told him it will be fruitless. He loves basketball very much!"

"Damn, maybe the reason he couldn't improve is because he got such person as a coach." Daiki mocked.

"I know. That's why, I want you to play basketball together with him. Maybe Kurokocchi could improve if he has us!"

"That sounds good. There's no way I would let a good person troubled."

"Good person?"

"Well, he likes basketball, so he must be a good person!"

"Aominecchi's a basketball idiot, eh!"

"Am not!"

"Well, Momocchi calls you a basketball idiot too!"

Even an idiot like Daiki noticed the nickname that had slipped from Ryouta's mouth.

Spending his childhood with Ryouta, Shintaro and Atsushi, and a girl named Momoi Satsuki, he knew Ryouta and Atsushi would only call people they respect by nicknames if those people weren't their childhood friend. If Atsushi was to meet him, would he give the newbie a nickname too?

Daiki was even more curious than before. He couldn't wait to meet this Kurokocchi person.

"Kurokocchiiii!"

Ryouta was about to tackle hug Tetsuya when he met the bluenette in the hall at lunch time, if only Tetsuya did not avoid him in last minute. The blonde ended up fell on the floor.

"Uwah, my face!"

"Kise-kun should greet me normally." That was more like an order than a request.

"But I couldn't help iiiit~" Ryouta grinned. "Kurokocchi, would you like to hang out after club activity? I want to introduce you to my friend!"

"Ah… I'm sorry, I don't think I can." Because he wanted to stay after practice, he added mentally.

"Tomorrow, then? Tomorrow's Saturday and coach said we will not have club activity, we can play basketball by ourselves freely and stop by Maji Burger!"

"I think it's a good idea." Tetsuya smiled. "This is my first time receiving an invitation to hang out outside of school."

A pair of golden orbs growing wide. "Re-really? I feel special! Tomorrow then! Let's meet at the park near Maji Burger! I'll wait at the basketball court! I promise!"

"Okay, Kise-kun. It's a promise." Tetsuya smiled.

"Yatta!" Ryouta immediately ran to somewhere Tetsuya didn't know, made the bluenette confused.

"….So that's why, let's hang out tomorrow together!" Ryouta said excitedly.

Shintaro stared at the blonde who had just made a ruckus at his class. He almost opened the can of his red bean soup when Ryouta barging into his class and calling his name loudly, catching everyone's attention. He noticed few girls watching them curiously.

Though he won't admit it, he did care about Ryouta. He knew Ryouta's trusting issue. Knowing Ryouta had finally made a friend beside them was something to be cherish for.

"It's not like I want to, but I have nothing to do tomorrow, so I'll go with you."

"Whatever you say Midorimacchi, I know you truly want to join me!" Ryouta winked, before he left the greenhead's class, leaving him with whispers among the other students.

"Curses!"

Seijuro opened his eyes on a Saturday morning.

He took a fifteen minutes shower, got dressed, and walked downstairs. He only found two of his maids taking the dishes from the dining room.

"Ah, Seijuro-sama, you're awake!" The maid panicked. They must have not prepare a breakfast for him, since on Saturdays, he used to stay in his room playing shogi by himself until ten, then take a brunch. He guessed he had to

"That's okay. I'm not in a hurry. You can start prepare a simple breakfast now while I entertain myself at the living room."

"Y-yes, Seijuro-sama!"

"By the way, I noticed that you're cleaning dirty dishes just now. Is father home?"

"No, Master isn't home since last night, and this was Tetsuya-sama's breakfast."

Seijuro didn't know that Tetsuya was a morning person. "So where's Tetsuya now?"

"He immediately took his leave after finished his breakfast."

Seijuro raised an eyebrow, but he quickly brushed it off. "Oh, okay."

Half an hour later, he finished his breakfast, getting ready to leave as well. But he gave himself five minutes to sit before his late mother's altar to pray and talk to her.

"Mother… this is the first time I get to hang out with some… comrades from the school. I'm not sure if I will enjoy myself, but I will try. Please just sit and watch me, make sure everything's going alright like I wanted." Seijuro smirked to his mother's photo, before kissed it lightly. "Now I'm off."

Little did Seijuro knew, a butler of the Akashi household heard the almost exact same conversation between Tetsuya and their mother at the very same morning.

Tetsuya arrived over thirty minutes earlier than promised. He wasn't that eager, really.

Much to his liking, Ryouta and a tanned boy arrived earlier as well. They were playing basketball when Tetsuya came.

"Kuroko Tetsuya."

A grin. "Aomine Daiki."

Thirty minutes later, two extra people came. Tetsuya learned their names were Murasakibara Atsushi and Midorima Shintaro, and that the four of them were from the first string of the basketball club.

"Well, lunch is in two hours, so let's play now!" Ryouta said excitedly.

Shintaro stopped Ryouta. "Wait, we're still waiting for him."

"Ah, right…" Ryouta pouted slightly. "He's good, right? I've never get to see his play!"

"It's amazing how Murasakibara is managed to get him to go along with us. He's the most antisocial person in the first string, after all." Daiki commented.

"Him? Who?" Tetsuya asked, puzzled.

"Oh, right, perhaps Kurokocchi hasn't know him! He's our fellow first-stringer from first year…

"….Akashi Seijuro!"

As if on cue, a redheaded teen walked on the pavement, approaching the basketball court they were in. The figure was checking on his phone when he entered the court, and, once the red eyes landed on them, he was shocked, as well as a certain tealhead among them.

"…Tetsuya."

"…Nii-san."

... you know, I'm not really used to write KnB fics with their first names..
