First of all, sorry for the wait. And secondly, I know its short but I have severe writer's block at the moment. So this is basically all I could write. But I'm happy with it, other than that, so yay!

Arthur

"What do you mean, she?" Merlin asked, apparently confused.

"I mean 'she' as in female, as in a woman, Merlin. Honestly!"

"Oh, I just thought-"

"I don't care what you just thought. Go and help Gaius!" I commanded, exasperated.

"Yes, sire." He answered, unusually formal, and he left my chambers.

"Great," I thought, "Now Merlin is upset. Could this day get any worse?"

I knew that brooding wasn't going to help Fionnait. Neither was the incessant pacing I had begun to do unconsciously. Of course, Fionnait's condition wasn't the only thing that was bothering me. My father was still in a terrible state of shock since Morgana's betrayal. He didn't leave his room, and was quiet and reserved. Now, I had the role of Prince Regent, and to be honest, I didn't feel ready to be King.

I let out a sigh. Father would be fine once again, it would just take time. As for Fionnait, I had full faith in Gaius' abilities. Despite the injury, I had no doubt that she would be as right as rain within a week.

Sitting down at my desk, I pulled a pile of paperwork towards me. There was no point in thinking anymore about it. All there was left to do now was wait.

Merlin

I hurried quickly down the steps towards Gaius' chambers. As I ran through the door, I nearly knocked Gaius over.

"Merlin! There you are!" He exclaimed, with relief. "I need you to watch over Gwendolyn. I must go gather some herbs which will help in her recovery. I would send you, but this is rather urgent."

I scoffed. "Are you saying I wouldn't do it fast enough?!"

"That is exactly what I am saying!" Gaius said. "Normally, it takes you half the day, and we do not have the time."

"She's in a bad way, then?"

"Bad enough, but her wound is easily treated. I have already administered a potion which should help with pain when she awakens. Now, I must go."

"Alright. I'll look after her."

As Gaius left, I turned to get a proper look at her. Lying straight on the table, pale from loss of blood, and covered in a sheen of sweat. Her red hair was damp, and her oddly styled clothes were ragged and rumpled. Placing myself on the bench beside her, I wondered what had brought her here with such urgency. Perhaps danger at home.

And her clothes. They weren't like any clothes I had seen in this land. That could mean she was from over the sea. Who knew what wonders she had seen, and what stories she had to tell. Arthur did, I supposed.

Pulling up her tunic carefully, I checked over her wound. Gaius had cleaned it, and had sewn the tender flaps of skin carefully back together. This poor girl, Gwendolyn, was lucky. Any further up, and there would have been no helping her.

Suddenly, someone coughed. I froze and let my eyes travel upwards. As I reached her face, I saw her tired, green eyes squint at me, almost amusedly.

"Hello there, strange man. What exactly were you doing just there?"

Okie doke, so hope you enjoyed it, even if its short, and please, please review if you liked this chapter or anything else. I don't like having to ask for reviews, but they're really appreciated, and when I do get one, I literally jump for joy.

Anyway,

Much love,
