Derek and Stiles decided to call an emergency pack meeting immediately. The Stilinski residence was as good a place as any. The sheriff was working double time again.
Stiles quickly threw together a tray of snacks mainly consisting of sandwiches, ham and turkey, but there was also these neat little pepperoni and cheese mini-kababs on toothpicks. It wasn't his usual when he had been human, but now he knew the craving for flesh a werewolf has.
As though answering said craving, Stiles shoved one of the sandwiches almost whole into his mouth, beginning on another to take its place.
"Looks good," Derek commented, stepping into the kitchen. "Can I?"
Stiles finished shoving his sandwich into his overstuffed mouth, and spoke.
"Botta save sum bore dee utter guys."
Or that's what it came out like with his mouthful. Derek shook his head at his boyfriend's antics, but he did find it very amusing. Stiles swallowed and repeated it, clearly this time.
"Sorry," he added.
Derek snorted and smirked at him.
"Don't apologize for being you. Its actually kinda cute."
Stiles gawked at him and burst into a fit of laughter.
"Priceless," Stiles exclaimed between snorts. "Derek I never would've envisioned you calling anything cute."
"Oh yeah?" Derek asked, smirk becoming more devious. "There's a lot you don't know about me Stiles Stilinski."
Stiles snorted again and covered his eyes with his hand. Derek walked over and grabbed his arm, and in that unexplained way of his the teen calmed down almost immediately. The flush to his cheeks and wild smile was adorable, and totally pulled Derek in.
Their lips actually met somewhere halfway. Stiles released a needy moan and pulled at Derek's shirt. A rapping sound at the front door interrupted them.
It was of course Scott, followed by Isaac and Cora. Boyd might or might not come. Peter most likely wouldn't, but carried a cell phone for texts, on Derek's orders.
They'd all just sat down to Stiles' snack tray in the living room when another knock came.
"Go away!" Derek grumbled, catching the scent immediately.
Still it was only said half-heartedly, and Peter let himself in, wearing that trademark smile.
"Sorry I'm late," he remarked plesantly. "Always good to see you too Derek."
Derek gave him a suspicious look, but soon returned to his food. Peter plopped down next to Cora on the couch. She didn't look very enthused.
"Looks like one came back," Peter said half-jokingly. "What is this, Days of our Lives?"
Cora's frown deepened.
"Good to see you too Uncle Peter."
"Okay if we can get started," Derek interrupted them in icy tones, making sure to give Peter a death glare for emphasis. "Ennis is dead. I killed him. Otherwise he might have killed Stiles."
Everyone looked at Stiles, and Scott's expression was definitely worried.
"The alpha pack now has more reason than ever to kill us," Derek went on pointedly. "Not just because I killed one of theirs. Stiles show them... "
Everyone was taken aback by shock, even Peter when Stiles' eyes suddenly took on the glaring red of the alpha. Scott inhaled with emotion.
"So wait," Peter spoke, eying Stiles with a strange look. "You're an alpha?"
"Apparently," Stiles said with a frown, and Peter actually did look a little intimidated.
No one really liked Peter. Stiles was no exception. Scott spoke next.
"Wow dude, this is... "
"You're telling me," Stiles said with a chuckle. "Not exactly what I signed on for."
Peter was looking at Derek with a slight scowl.
"Of course you've told him what it means, nephew? Or shall I say it?"
Derek felt a rush of anger toward his uncle, and pinched his nose to contain it.
"Yes uncle," Derek said, obviously trying not to snap. "Stiles is my mate. You all may as well know. That's why he's become an alpha. The alpha's mate. Its a connection only an alpha can have with another werewolf."
Scott looked a little surprised.
"So is Deucalion and Kali... "
"Just no," Derek cut in, eyebrows raised. "Don't, but seriously, its not like that for the alphas. They all killed their own packs. Peter, tell them."
Peter gave a nod.
"The alphas used to be loyal to Derek's mother, Talia. My sister... "
Peter paused, and swallowed before continuing. Derek noticed.
"After the fire Deucalion must've turned on the rest of Talia's supporters. Derek and Laura had already left for New York. Deucalion must have killed them, near a hundred, and that's how he became a Demon Wolf."
Peter noticed a touch of nervousness in Derek's features and paused again, taking a breath.
"Now for reasons only he ultimately knows, Deucalion spared Kali and Ennis, probably even used them to kill off the rest of the pack. Laura knew something was coming. She got you away Derek. As for the twins, I don't know where they came from, or when they were turned."
Derek nodded and looked around at them all.
"The twins are plants," Derek said. "I don't know why Aiden is with Lydia, or Ethan with Danny, but we can't trust them. Deucalion may've even made them quite recently, and for the very purpose of being spys. Doubtless he was also aware of the Gemini twins story. The twins in their own way are more powerful and dangerous than any of them."
The tension and nervousness was now so thick in the room you could cut it. The alphas had already taken one of their own from them. Erica...
Stiles remembered it with a twinge of sadness and remorse. Erica, so young. Erica, who Derek had buried somewhere, insisting he do it alone.
Derek must have noticed because fingers suddenly threaded through his. Stiles smiled at him, a soft and gentle smile, and squeezed back, feeling only Derek understood him like no one else.
