Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach or any of the characters. I keep asking for it for my birthday, but I never get it. Oh, well. Maybe next year. Nor do I own the song.
This is basically a reflection story about Ichigo and Rukia. It takes place right as Ichigo's saving Rukia during her execution. It's based on the song 'Falls Apart' by Thousand Foot Krutch.

Ichigo began to panic when he saw the saw the giant zanpakuto prepare to strike and kill Rukia. He knew things would go wrong the moment he met her. The minute her sword penetrated his chest and turned him into a shinigami, he realized that there would always be risks and consequences. As he flew towards the execution he felt that if he failed, everything would fall apart around him, and he'd never be able to live his life as he did before. He had the same feeling when rukia had walked away from him and back into the Seireitei to face her fate.
After his mom died, Ichigo promised to protect everyone close to him. But it turned out to be a promise he couldn't keep. That killed him inside. He wished he could have kept that promise, but it just turned out to be impossible. He hadn't given all his effort into fulfilling the promise and now he was paying for it. Ichigo drew his zanpakuto and looked down at all the shinigami. Didn't they realize what was happening? How could they not realize they were executing the wrong person?
Thinking back to all the times they had hung out at school, at the park, his room, all the arguments, Ichigo knew he should've told her then, how much he cared. That just showed what a coward he was when it came to emotions. Oh, Ichigo knew he could've told her, but he just acted like everything was okay and they went on with life. Now he was losing her and he knew that there was a chance they would both be destroyed in this unplanned attempt at a rescue.
His hatred that filled him for who he was and what he'd done gave him the strength to repel the larger and more powerful zanpakuto. He could feel the surprise from the shinigami below as they witnessed this mystery. He was glad that Rukia had waited for him. Her request for his and the rest of the gang's lives had given him just enough time to arrive at just the right time.
He just wished that he could make it up to everyone for letting everything fall apart.

A/N: I know, this was really short, but wouldn't it have been pretty ridiculous if I'd referred to the chorus four or five times? With only one chorus, the song is really short.
