'This is my life, Its not what it was before All these feelings I've shared And these are my dreams That I'd never lived before, Somebody shake me, Cause I must be sleeping'.
So Far Away - Staind
Approximately 8 hours later...
The Doctor woke up expecting to see the TARDIS surrounding him. When he opened his eyes, and reality dawned upon him, he found himself back in a white four walled room with air freshners, doilies and earth flowers. Roses, to be precise. On the subject of Roses, where was his Rose? He could have sworn he had fallen asleep listening to her snoring, but now-
"DADDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!" Came a voice that quite unmistakably was Rose's from outside.
The Doctor poked his head out of the corridoor to see Rose and Pete Tyler running towards eachother. He winced as he remembered how Pete had treated Rose lest time they met. Things had obviously changed a little bit since then, judging by Pete's face.
"Oh my god! You're alive!" He yelled as he pulled in to a hug.
"Glad to hear you have such confidence in me," she muttered, a bit miffed "You know Derek's got me on curfew. He's taking paranoia to a whole new level!"
Pete gawped "What idiot told Derek?"
"Mickey." Rose and the Doctor.
Pete looked up at the sound of another voice.
"You?" He gasped.
"Hi, Pete." The Doctor walked forward to shake his hand. Pete looked like he wanted to relinquish it, but was too shocked to do anything.
"But... What's Rose doing here if you're with her?" Pete asked, confused "What about that box thing?"
"Really long story, Dad," Said Rose before the doctor could say anything "Where's Tony?"
Pete grinned at that.
"Downstairs. He's been asking for you all the way here. I am getting a bit worried about that. He's gonna turn out just like you."
"Well... At least he won't be selling stuff that tastes like mouthwash to the world. See ya later!" Rose said, grinning at both of them and then dashing for the stairs.
The Doctor and Pete shuffled akwardly as the friendly atmosphere vanished with her.
"So... What's the deal with you and my girl then?" Asked Pete, obviously not wanting to muck around "You letting her have five minutes with her family before whisking her off, or are you back for good?"
"Your girl? YOUR GIRL? You weren't saying THAT a couple of years ago. Infact, i distinctly remember you telling her to 'Quit it' when she told you about her and Jackie, and then having her crying into my shoulder for an entire night! Not your girl then, was she?" The Doctor was stunned at the fact that he could argue. Must have been the Donna within.
"Oh don't you talk to me about hurting Rose. So, OK, I felt like a complete TWAT for ages after, at least I came back to get her. YOU, on the other hand, drove her absolutely mad. A beach on Norway to say goodbye? And then just dissappearing? I made her cry for one night, Doctor, but you still have her crying. She may seem strong, but you have the power to take that away. Make her a complete wreck. Now, go if you're gonna scarper, but if you stay, you look after her. You make her happy. Because if you hurt her again, throw love in her face, I'm not the only one who will be on your back. Rose has so many people who love her here, and none of them are particularly keen on you anyway. For you to do anything else would not be in your interests. See you in 5." Pete nodded and then made his way to the stairs.
The Doctor stared after Pete. The man really seemed to hate him. And for a good reason, it appeared. What everyone didn't know was that he had almost pulled down two universes to get back to Rose. But he was afraid that she would resent him for finishing so many lives just for her. That's the kind of person Rose was.
"Oi! Mr Meta-Crisis! Come on, the zeppelin's ready," Came a voice from along the corridoor. Rose's voice. "So unless you were daydreaming about something really essential I would like to get out of this place. And never come back."
The Doctor beamed and strode down the corridoor as Rose offered him a hand. He could take death threats from Pete, No TARDIS, anything if he was allowed to do that.
"Rose I-"
"ROSIE, GET A BLOODY MOVE ON, WE NEED TO GO!" Jackie shreiked from down the stairs.
Rose rolled her eyes and dashed down the stairs, pulling him with her.
How Odd.
