'Near to you, I am healing but it's taking so long. Coz though he's gone, and you are wonderful, It's hard to move on. Yet, I'm better near to you."
Near To You - A Fine Frenzy
A week later...
Rose woke up with a start at the sound of her phone ringing. She looked at the screen. And groaned. It was Derek.
"What do you want?" She groaned into the mouthpiece.
"Good morning to you too, sweethart." Derek sighed, sarcastically "I'm at starbucks. Do you want anything?"
Rose instantly felt guilty.
"The usual please." She replied " And sorry for being mardy."
Derek sighed.
"Naah. You're entitled to feel a bit crap after all that's happened during the past few weeks. And changes on the you-know-who front?" He asked.
"No, Derek. I haven't been in touch with Lord Voldemort recently." Rose replied, angry again. It still annoyed her that Derek refused to say his name.
"Oh! Stop trying to be clever! You know perfectly well what I mean!" He sighed back, sounding remarkably like her mother.
"Yes, I know what you mean. And no, i haven't called him. I'm not sure if I want to." She mumbled in reply.
"Well, you've got to make a decision soon, sweetie."
"I know."
"Rose-"
"I don't want to talk about it anymore, Derek. See you at work." She snarled, hanging up.
She shook her head and put her head in her hands. She had never been this confused in her life. Not over her dad. Not over Jimmy Stone. Not over Mickey. Not over the old doctor. She didn't know what to do. She knew she loved him. And his eyes showed very obviously that he returned the feeling just as strongly. But after that arguement... she just didn't know.
She couldn't see their future together, because it wasn't a fixed point in time. She could go one way or the other. Everything rested in her decision. Her decision that lied inside her telephone on her bedside table. She found not knowing what to do very annoying. She had the whole of time and space running through her head and she still didn't know what to do. She knew what she wanted to do, but that wasn't neccessarily the right thing.
Rose gasped at her last thought. What she wanted to do. Was it right? She didn't know. Did she care? Hmm... She didn't know that either. Except... All her life she had been doing the right thing. For everyone else. Putting herself second because she was that kind of person. Next to no self esteem. Maybe, just this once, she should do the wrong thing?
There was a man, a rather gorgeous man, sitting in a hotel somewhere, staring at his telephone, waiting for her to call him. And he'd been waiting for quite a long time now. She'd spent so much time searching for him, just to be separated again. By a stupid arguement.
Now Rose knew what to do.
She picked up her phone and stared at his name for a few seconds. Then, she hit the green button.
He answered on the second ring.
"Rose! ROSE! Are you allright?" A beautifully familiar voice shouted down the line.
Tears welled in her eyes at how excited he sounded.
"Yeah. I'm Fine." She whispered, smiling.
"Listen. I'm SO sorry about happened. I honestly didn't mean a word. It wasn't me, it was the-"
"Donna Within?" Rose replied, smiling "Yeah, I know."
"But, you're allright?" He asked again, worried.
"YES! Well... I'm getting there." She replied.
"I'm sorry." He whispered.
"I know."
He took a deep breath before he said anything else.
"I Love You." He whispered, again.
Rose's breath hitched at that. She could never get enough of him saying that. She had only ever heard him say it once. She grinned.
"Rose? Are you still there?" The Doctor's voice cut off her train of thought.
That was enough of being apart.
"Doctor?" She asked. Her voice gave away her emotion.
"I'm here."
"Will you come round?"
