'You and I have something different, and I'm enjoying it cautiously. I'm battle scared, but I am working oh so hard to get back to who I used to be. He's dissapearing, fading, steadily. I'm so close to being yours, won't you stay with me. Please?'

Near To You - A Fine Frenzy

2 hours later...

The Doctor pulled himself out the Taxi door, steadily, staring at the Tyler Mansion. He hadn't seen it from the outside for a long time, and it wasn't what you would call small. Or big, even. Humungous was the word. He found that he prefered the Powell Estate.

But he was not being picky. If Rose lived here, it made it the best place in the universe. Or any universe, infact. He grinned. He still couldn't get over the fact that Rose had forgiven him. He was a very lucky man.

"Who the hell are you?" Asked a small, dark haired woman as he approached the front door.

"Oh, yes... I'm John Sm- The Doctor. I'm here to see Rose Tyler?" The frowned as the woman didn't recognise the name.

"I will check with Janine." She replied, narrowing her eyes, then turning to her radio.

"Janine, it's Ethel from security. I have a man here, says he's here to see Rosie? Should i have him shot?" She asked the radio, sounding like she wanted to.

"Give me his description and i will call her." Replied Janine from the radio.

"Weelll... He's skinnier than life, almost as skinny as Rose. Hair that makes him looks like he's been electrified. Loads of freckles. Bad dress sense. Annoying posh accent. Licks his teeth a lot. Ask her if that rings any bells." Ethel replied, not looking at all ashamed at her sudden rudeness.

"2 seconds..." Said Janine, cutting off.

The Doctor and Ethel stood in awkward silence for a moment, staring at eachother with unreasonable dislike.

Suddenly, the radio crackled into life.

"Ethel, you're to let him in, immediately and send him up to Rosie's section of the house." Janine said, from the radio.

Ethel nodded, and pulled him inside.

"Oh, and Ethel?" Came Janine's voice.

"Yes?" She replied, impatiently, dragging the Doctor along with her.

"Rose said to tell you that if you carry on being a mardy bitch to her doctor, her family, her friends, herself or anyone ever again, she will slap you into next Tuesday and you will be dismissed. Taa Taah." Janine giggled before cutting off.

The Doctor grinned as Ethel went bright red.

"This way, sir." She whispered.

The Doctor knocked on a door that said 'Rose Tyler's Residence'. It was all very posh. It appeared that Rose lived in the top floor of the house, and Jackie, Pete and Tony lived in the bottom three. Rose only used the downstairs kitchen.

Suddenly, the door flung open, and Rose threw herself on to him, hugging him breathless. He hugged back, just as tightly, grinning in to her her. He could hear sobs from beneath him.

"Hey. What's the matter?" He said pulling her to arms length, wiping away her tears.

Rose shook her head and grinned in between sobs.

"It's you!" She whispered "You're real. I mean... You're not a hologram!"

The Doctor sighed.

"Yes, Rose, I am real. See?" He punched the wall to show her. Then grimaced in pain as he withdrew his hand. It was red.

Rose stopped crying and put her head in her hands, taking her turn to sigh.

"Come in, idiot." She said, gesturing inside, grinning.

He followed her inside, taking the place in. It was very human. He hadn't expected that. But then... She went to Torchwood every day, which was the least human place in the world. So he didn't blame her. It reminded him very much of her room in the TARDIS. Pink, Hugh Jackman, Clothes, Shoes, a very distinct smell of melted cheese. Very Rose.

Last time, he had slept downstairs in one of Jackie's rooms. It was white and full of mirrors. But this place... Well. If he hadn't know better, he would have called it home.

"You still there?" Rose asked, tapping his head lightly, as she brought his attention back to her.

He grinned. Now this place really was home.

"Yup. Sorry. This is great. Very you." He smiled at her.

She smiled back, making his heart flutter. Then she frowned.

"So... We need to talk." Rose said, gesturing to a table with chairs either side of it.

He nodded, looking worriedly at her as he sat down. He wasn't sure about that happy ending anymore.

Rose sighed, then begun.

"Ookaaay... Doctor. Do you wanna be called Doctor, or have you made up another name?" She asked.

"Doctor, please." He nodded "Anything else makes me feel weird."

"Awww! I wanted to call you Hamish!" She cried, pouting her lip.

He grinned at how adorable that was.

"Well... That can be my nickname if you want." He said, waggling his eyebrows.

She tried not to laugh.

"Right. Stop sidetracking me. I've been rehearsing this all week." She said, retaining some calmness in her voice "Doctor I-"

"Rehearsing?" He smirked.

"Yup. I had it word perfect in Tuesday when- STOP SIDETRACKING ME!" She cried.

"Sorry." He grinned "Please continue."

"OK. Doctor I think that after some consideration, I..." She stopped for a moment as he took her hand from across the table "I think that... Oh my god. This is pointless." She said, sighing.

"What?" He asked with mock innocence.

"Weelll... I WAS trying to put some space between us. But clearly, I am incapable of doing that." She shook her head, squeezing his hand.

He felt relief flush over him.

"I think, Rose Tyler, after being away from you for that long, the furthest distance away from you possible for me is a couple of meters." His heart skipped as she grinned at him. "The only problem is... I'm going to have to live somewhere. And i can't buy a house a couple of meters away from yours, as much as i'd like to."

"You don't have to..." Rose cut herself off.

"What?" He smiled, knowingly. They'd had a very similar conversation before.

"Well... Y'know... We could always... Share. Or you could... live here. If you want?" She blushed furiously as she looked away from him.

"Yes, Rose Tyler, I most certainly do want." He grinned, leaning across the table to stroke her cheek.

Oh Lordy, he thought, I've got it bad. It was all very new to him, the whole cheek stroking thing. But Rose had lovely cheeks. Great for stroking.

"Doctor?" Rose laughed "Are you trying to groom my cheek hair?"

He realised that he'd been stroking her cheek repeatedly.

"Are you sure you want me to live here Rose? I mean-" Rose put a hand over his mouth.

"It's like you said. Looking back on the past few years have really put things in perspective for me. I have had enough of being apart. I mean... Not that i haven't had a good time, It's just... It felt empty without you." Rose mimed being sick at how loved up her words were.

He completely understood.

"That's why he couldn't take you with him. He knew you couldn't leave everyone. You've found your place in the universe." He grinned proudly at her.

"And now you're here..."

"It's complete?" He offered.

She nodded, then groaned at how mushy it sounded.

"I just have one question." He said "If you got exterminated and are still alive, how are you not immortal."

"Bad Wolf." She replied "If I hadn't been in the TARDIS, I would have died for good. But the vortex energy charged me up again."

"So... basically. You're like a mobile phone?" He asked, rudely.

She rolled her eyes "Still very good at flattery, I see?"

"That's me." He grinned "But if you get hurt badly enough without the TARDIS..."

"I am just like you." She finished his sentence.

"You could be immortal." He whispered.

She nodded "But that's not what I want."

"What do you want?" He whispered.

"You... If you want?" She sighed at the repetition.

"I certainlly do." He replied, grinning.

Rose took a deep breath.

"What?" He asked, looking worriedly at her.

"Shhh! I'm trying to tell you something." She said, flipping him off.

"Go on..." He said, impatiently.

"Doctor... I..." She took a very long breath "I love you!" She grinned at her revelation.

And suddenly, there was no table between them anymore. He picked her up and kissed her for dear life. And much to his delight, she kissed back.

Rose could feel something pressing against her... lower down. She broke off the kiss.

"Doctor... Did you steal his sonic screwdriver, or are you just pleased to see me?" She asked.

"Pleased to see you." He replied blushing.

She grinned.

"Erm... Have you ever done that before?" She asked.

"Not the human way. And never with someone I'm in love with." He replied.

She looked up at him "Do you..."

"Yes." He replied, answering her thoughts.

"But..."

"I'm a very fast learner." He assured her.

"Is that so..." She mused.

"Well... I'm very good at jiggery pokery." He replied.

"Is that so..." She grinned again.

"Want me to show you?" He asked.

She grinned "Yes please."

He had never moved so fast. Pulling her into his arms, he legged it towards the bedroom.

She grinned. Nobody sidetracked her like her Doctor.

A/N: Sorry, guys! No smut in this story. I did try.... But I almost died of giggling in the process. Maybe in the story after this when i have grown up :D
