Teleport-Mea Commmentary
In game, all of us have known characters like Torch and Arrik and Nochif, and we always remember the idiots like Torch. When I gave the story to my brother to read, not long before posting it, I asked him if he felt that Torch was a bit-over the top and that I should tone the character down a bit. His response was along the lines of "no, because there really are guys out there like that if not worse," and he began naming names from our server.
I am by no means the first to use the term "telewhore." It was going around on our server (Cerberus) years ago, and I'm sure the term is not exclusive to our server by any means. Anyone who has given teleports for money has probably encountered it, hopefully in teasing from the linkshell or from friends rather than from a customer. It always annoyed me, and this is where this fanfic first began, the idea that someone might be crude and brash enough to actually use the term when trying to get a teleport.
I've always been enchanted with Galka Paladins, so I made one the quiet hero of this story. He gets more "screen-time" in the sequel to this story, my fanfic entitled Madness. Madness picks up almost where Teleport-Mea leaves off, the story beginning just after the wedding of Floria and Crying Swan.
